C. Bond (00:30):
You're listening to See Beyond with C.
Bond.
For quite some time now, I havebeen thinking about how easy it
is for us to fall back into badhabits, which leads us to make
bad decisions and causes us tohave regrets.
This became clear to me when Iwas preparing to becoming board

(00:53):
certified patient advocate.
I remember reading a case studyabout an older man who was
suffering with an illness, anillness that was treatable, but
he was having a really hard timeovercoming that illness because
of some bad decisions he madewhen he was younger.
He was dealing with regrets.
It caused me to realize thatthere has to come a time when

(01:18):
you must decide that, no matterhow hard it is or how hard it
gets, you're not going back.
You're not going to go back toyour old way of thinking, doing
or reacting, because it's thoseold ways that cloud your vision,
causes you to lose focus andbecome overwhelmed.

(01:40):
And trust me when I tell youthat I'm not using the word
overwhelm lightly.
I'm not.
The reality is, when you areoverwhelmed, it is easy to lose
your focus, and when you loseyour focus, your vision is
compromised.
You struggle to See BeyondWhere You Are.

(02:03):
So today I want to talk aboutnot going back to a life of bad
habits and bad decisions thatwill lead you to a life of
regrets.
Let's talk about it.
Bad habits.
How many times have you pickedup a bad habit from someone and

(02:23):
started doing that thing beforeyou realized you were doing it
And then became upset withyourself for developing that
habit?
Or have you ever developed abad habit out of survival?
While you were trying tosurvive life, you picked up a
few bad habits that areinterfering with your success

(02:45):
now.
Or maybe it's possible you gota bad habit or two from your
family or friends.
Now for question actually, Ihave two.
How has that bad habit helpedyou?
Or are you helping that badhabit live longer than it should

(03:06):
?
I think bad habits are likechokeholds They grab you around
the neck and refuse to let yougo.
But to get out of thatchokehold you have to train your
mind, like a boxer trains hisor her body.
You must become strong andflexible, able to move at the

(03:30):
slightest sign of regret, determined to figure a way out
of the chokehold and havecounter moves.
I am not a therapist.
I am a faith-based encouragerand motivator.
I want to inspire you tobelieve that you are strong
enough to remove bad habits fromaround your neck.

(03:51):
Being strong starts with youexercising Exercising your right
to be free from bad habits, exercising your right to get
help if or when you need it.
That help can come from atherapist, family members,
friends or whoever you chooseand trust.

(04:12):
You know it's like exercisingWhen you are exercising by
yourself.
It is effective, if you aredoing the exercises properly,
but it's more fun to exercisewith someone else.
So while you're exercising, ifit's by yourself or with someone
else and you're becomingstronger, you can begin to

(04:36):
remove that bad habit that ischoking the creativity, the
faith and all the joy out of you.
What if you're not strongenough?
you ask.
Then, be flexible.
Think about your favorite boxeror wrestler.
How often do you see them juststanding in one place trying to

(04:57):
defeat their opponents, orstanding still so that their
opponents can be victorious overthem?
They are flexible, able to movetheir bodies so that it's
harder for their opponents toinflict damage or put them in a
wrestling hole that they cannotescape.
You should be flexible when itpertains to bad habits If you

(05:19):
are constantly moving andchanging directions, not
standing still or sitting in thesame spot in your mind day
after day, that bad habit willbecome loose by itself.
Then it will be easier to remove.
What was once a tight chokeholdaround your neck will become

(05:41):
loose and eventually fall off.
It's your choice and you haveto make up your mind that you
want to be free and pursue yourfreedom.
It's deciding that you have hadenough, that it's not helping
you or that you just don't needthat bad habit in your life and

(06:01):
you get rid of it.
That's what people who aredetermined do.
You think about what it willtake and you strategize.
You try different defensive andoffensive maneuvers to rid
yourself of that chokehold thatthat bad habit has on you once
and for all, because you realizethe importance of making great

(06:25):
decisions rather than bad orunwise decisions Bad decisions.
If you are unsuccessful inremoving bad habits from your
life, bad decision making willfollow.
You start making decisionsbased on negativity, fear,
emotions, temporary situations, other people's opinion of you,

(06:50):
procrastination especially ifit's already a bad habit and
other non-essential, unimportantbad traits you have.
But my job, from my very firstpodcast to now, is to inspire,
encourage and motivate you toSee Beyond Where You Are so that

(07:10):
you can achieve, receive and domore in life.
You know bad decisions followyou.
Bad decisions, mistakes, errors, wrongdoing are all like
trademarks.
A trademark can be a word, phrase, symbol, design or a

(07:31):
combination of things thatidentifies your goods and
services from someone else's.
That is why I said baddecisions are like a trademark.
They identify you and yourservices so that others can see
your mistakes.
It identifies your brand, and Ido not want that to continue.

(07:54):
You can correct and outlive baddecisions by making better
decisions.
When you examine your life andrealize how many great decisions
you have already made, it willmotivate you to continue.
Therefore, when you see theperson who lives to remind you
"that you haven't always madegood decisions, their words will

(08:18):
literally lose power and vanishinto nothing not vanish into
thin air, as our ancestors usedto say, but vanish into nothing,
because your words and youractions will not give life to
the negativity that someone elsespeaks concerning you.
When you start making betterdecisions, there may be some

(08:42):
evidence left that a bad habitand bad decision making was
there, but with each day, thatevidence will become weaker and
weaker against you.
As you get rid of bad habitsand bad decision making, you
make it possible to live a lifewithout regrets.

(09:02):
Speaking of regrets, at thebeginning of this podcast I
mentioned a case study about anolder man who had made bad
decisions and was living a lifeof regret.
The case study went on toexplain that it was one bad
decision in particular that wascausing him to regret his life.

(09:22):
That emphasized to me the powerthat regret has.
Whether you have a singleregret or many regrets, it
impacts your life.
Regrets are opportunistic.
They show up whenever there'san opportunity for you to be
happy, and peace, or even whenyou're sad and upset.

(09:45):
That's why I'm encouraging youto break bad habits that cause
you to make bad decisions.
I sincerely believe that youcan live the life you were
created to live.
No doubt it takes work, but youare worth the work and the
benefits that accompany yourwork.

(10:07):
At this point in the podcast, Iwant to sincerely encourage you
and challenge you to acknowledgeany regrets you have.
If you regret not finishingschool, now is a great time to
go back and finish.
If you regret losing afriendship or any type of
relationship, you have anopportunity to contact that

(10:30):
person and try to rekindle thatfriendship or that relationship.
Whatever regret or regrets youhave, find a way to overcome
that and make it a regret thatyou used to have.
You are strong enough, flexibleenough, determined enough and

(10:52):
have more counter moves than youwill ever know, and you will
never know that you have all ofthat if you never use it.
Now is your opportunity to useit.
You've been listening to SeeBeyond Where You Are with C.
C-Bond.
Until next time, remember, evenif you are just one day away

(11:16):
from not going back to badhabits and bad decisions, you
are still making progress.
