I want to tell you that if youare not where you want to be
right now, it's okay.
I'm not telling you, it's okayto justify where you are, but to
encourage you to do the work sothat you can achieve whatever
(00:53):
you want in life, personally andprofessionally.
Now is not the time to feelsorry for yourself.
You are where you are, but youhave today.
You have an opportunity tostart changing your present
situation so that you can have abetter future.
(01:14):
You can dwell on the past, youcan lament on your present
circumstances, but where willthat get you?
Back to feeling sorry foryourself, and I can't let that
happen.
I will not let that happen, notwithout encouraging you.
You know I will alwaysencourage you to See Beyond
(01:36):
Where You Are, because I believeyou have it in you to move
mountains!The mountain I'm talking about
is the mountainous task ofreaching new heights in your
life, and to reach new heightsyou have to climb.
I am not a mountain climber, Idon't care for heights, but in
(02:02):
my personal and professionallife I am still climbing.
I am still climbing too.
So to help me and you, Iresearched essential gear that
mountain climbers need to reachthe top.
They need equipment like ropeand grappling hook, a harness,
(02:24):
hiking poles, a helmet, good,non-slip hiking boots, a
backpack, weather-appropriateclothing, food and water.
This equipment helps climberswith their stability, but they
must possess the confidence andcourage to climb themselves.
(02:45):
So we're going to talk aboutthe stability, confidence and
courage you need to climb yourown personal and professional
mountain.
Let's start with stability.
Climbing a mountain is hard, especially for novice climbers.
The terrain is rough, theweather can be unpredictable,
(03:12):
and you can lose your grip oryour footing if you're not
careful.
Life is similar it can be rough, unpredictable, and you can
lose it if you're not careful.
But an experienced mountainclimber knows how and when to
use their tools.
You should, too, from theexperience you already have.
(03:37):
Use that as your anchor.
Let that be your grappling hook.
Sink into a position that willsecure you so that when you move
your feet, you won't fallBecause you are strapped
securely in your harness, which,in this case, is whatever
reason you're climbing for.
(03:58):
When you are safe and secure,it gives you the confidence to
keep climbing.
Speaking of confidence, let'stalk about it.
Your mountain climbingequipment can give you the
confidence to keep climbing, butyou also need that inner
confidence to climb, that faithin yourself, the kind of
(04:23):
confidence that says, no matterwhat, I can do this, I'm not
going to give up on myself.
I may not have reached mydestination, but I still have it
in me to do it.
That's the kind of confidencethat I'm talking about.
You can have confidence andneed help, and even if you need
(04:46):
help, that's okay.
Mountain climbers need help too.
Mountain climbers can use theirpoles to lean on or to help
them navigate difficultsituations.
Those climbing poles can be thedifference between being
seriously injured or making itsuccessfully to the top.
(05:08):
Needing help does not diminishyour confidence.
In fact, getting help can giveyou the confidence you need to
reach your destination morequickly.
Mountain climbers rely on theirskills, instinct and equipment
to reach the top.
You can rely on your skills, your instincts and others to
(05:33):
boost your confidence, and youwill need to have confidence in
others, even to ask them to helpyou.
Speaking of courage, I savedcourage for last, because if you
don't have the courage to startyour experience, skills,
(05:55):
confidence, none of them willmatter.
Without courage, you will stayright where you are.
I love Miriam Webster'sdefinition of courage.
It says courage is the mentalor moral strength to venture,
persevere and withstand danger, fear or difficulty.
(06:20):
Mountain climbers must ventureout and they must persevere.
They will probably experiencedanger, fear and or difficulty,
but they do it anyway becausethey have the courage to do so.
(06:41):
I am not encouraging you to goout and climb a physical
mountain, but I am advocatingfor you to be courageous enough
to climb your own personal andprofessional mountain.
Let me reiterate to reach thetop, or to be the best, you must
(07:02):
persevere.
There is no shortcut.
You will have to withstand someno's and some fears your fears
and other people's fears as welland the danger is you still
might not make it.
However, it's more dangerous ifyou don't try, because then you
(07:27):
are guaranteed to remain in theposition that you're in.
But let me remind you thatnothing is impossible,
especially with God as yourfaith-based motivator.
I encourage you to have faith, faith in your own abilities,
(07:48):
faith in yourself and faith inGod.
We truly can do all thingsthrough Christ, because he's the
one who strengthens us to do so.
But sometimes, when we startsomething new, we start off on
unsure footing, scared andlacking confidence, but the more
(08:11):
you persevere, the better at ityou become.
On that note, I want to inspireyou to take action.
I challenge you to startclimbing your professional or
personal mountain today.
It doesn't matter where you'restarting from, but it matters
(08:32):
that you start.
Talk to yourself, tell yourselfhow you plan on getting out of
this situation.
Explain to yourself the stepsyou will take in detail.
This will give you confidence.
Then you can take thisconfidence you have in yourself,
(08:52):
and you can soar.
My only word of caution is thisthe higher you go, the more
difficult it will become, butyou're smart.
Simply adjust for the altitude,meaning.
Make sure you have theconfidence and courage to keep
(09:14):
climbing your metaphoricalmountain.
You've been listening to SeeBeyond Where You Are with C.
Bond.
Until next time, remember whereyou are right now doesn't
matter.
What matters is where you wantto go.
(09:36):
Even a wrong path can lead youto your destination.
