The man was an employee of the Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC). Lee  County Deputy Leslie Green responded and confirmed that the body of a deceased white male lay on the roadway inside Leah Court, an undeveloped cul-de-sac in a wooded area of Lehigh Acres.

The decedent had several physical defects that were consistent with gunshot wounds; one in his head, several in his torso, and one in his right forearm. There was extensive facial damage consistent with animal activity, likely due to the vultures observed on and around the body .

Using a finger print scanner to identify the decedent as Kyle Byrtus, a white male born on May 17, 1988.
