In this episode, I'm inviting you to pause with me as we explore winter through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine and self-care.
I know this time of year feels impossible—the holidays are here, our calendars are packed, and everyone expects us to keep pushing through. But here's what I want you to understand: nature is asking us to do the opposite. The trees are conserving energy, animals are hibernating, and the earth is growing quiet. This is our invitation too.
I'm going to be honest with you about what winter really means for our bodies. This is the season of our kidneys—think of them as our internal battery, the deep well of life force that fuels us. And just like you can't fully recharge a battery that's been completely drained, we cannot let ourselves run empty.
So I'm sharing practical wisdom with you: how to stay warm (cover your head, neck, and lower back!), what foods will nourish your kidneys (black beans, lentils, warming spices), and why you need to stop drinking ice-cold beverages. I'm also giving you permission—permission to sleep longer, move slower, and say no to over-committing.
Most importantly, I'm asking you to find just five minutes, three times a day, for stillness. Because self-care isn't something we do when life slows down—self-care is what keeps us steady when life speeds up.
Join me as we honor winter's rhythm together.
