(00:45):
Limits Podcast.
This is episode 103, How toAchieve Material and Spiritual
Success.
Two Practical Steps.
Contemplate on this for amoment.
Would you say to yourself rightnow that you have both of those
(01:10):
material and spiritual success?
If the answer to that is yes, then how are you defining that?
If the answer is no, then whydon't you?
In today's episode we're goingto explore answers to those
questions and how you can goahead in your life and begin to
have some practical steps tomanifest into your own life,
(01:35):
into your own reality.
Material and spiritual success.
One of the words that is veryimportant to have material and
spiritual success.
It seems like common sense.
It seems like something that wewould do just because it's so
obvious, but we don't.
(01:56):
We don't use this one wordenough in our lives to achieve
what we want in our lives, whichis balance, that one word
balance to achieve material andspiritual success.
We have to balance those outdeliberately, actively, with the
(02:18):
goals that we set, as the titlesuggests in today's episode
Achieving Material and SpiritualSuccess.
It is an achievement to attainmaterial and spiritual success.
It doesn't happen by accident, and in order to achieve anything
(02:40):
and apply yourself to thataccomplishment, I would suggest
you need to set certain goals, material and spiritual.
Now, sometimes we get involved alot in the material success of
life and our goals reflect that.
(03:00):
We do have everyday bills, everyday living expenses that we
have to pay which is part ofour material success that we
want to have the mortgage, therent, the car payment, the
groceries entertainment, takingcare of our children our
families they are all necessarymaterial obligations that are
recurring day in, day out, monthin, month out, year after year.
They are not going to go away.
(03:33):
As long as we are on thisplanet, as human beings, you and
I, these will be essentiallyour obligations.
Now, they may change atdifferent points in our life,
but material success for most ofus is essentially very
important.
(03:53):
Sometimes at the greatdetriment and expense of our
spiritual success, and alsosometimes neglected our
spiritual goals.
Without both working in concert,we don't have a great sense of
(04:15):
well-being.
Your overall sense ofwell-being is a great measure of
your own success that you haveachieved.
Your well-being is directlycorrelated to the balance
between your material and yourspiritual success.
(04:39):
There are a lot of people whohave material success but don't
feel happy.
Don't feel inwardly fulfilled.
Feel as though something ismissing.
Many times we hear about peoplewho are financially well off,
may even be famous, may evenhave adulation, but they still
(04:59):
feel empty.
That is because there isnothing that can fulfill your
inner life, your inner sanctuary, like your spiritual
development and spiritualsuccess.
Why?
Because all material success isexternal.
All spiritual success isinternal.
(05:24):
Let me explain that to you andgive you an example.
If you were to write down on theleft-hand side of a piece of
paper, when you have time andyou are not listening to the
podcast your material goals, your material needs and what it
(05:44):
is you'd like to accomplish inyour life it could be in your
career, it could be in yourfinances, it could be in your
health.
On the left-hand side of yourpage, write those down.
On the right-hand side of thepage, write down how those
(06:05):
material experiences correlateto your spiritual well-being.
When you begin to look at thatlist on the left-hand side
material, on the right-hand sidespiritual you will begin to see
right in front of you howbalanced you are.
How much thought have you givento your material success in
correlation with your spiritualsuccess?
(06:27):
The material side, theleft-hand side of the page, is
all external.
When you are looking at payingrent, paying mortgage, car
payments, groceries,entertainment.
It's all about the outer worldhow you are going to live in
this world as a human beingfeeding, clothing, putting a
(06:56):
roof over your head, havingshelter and family on an
everyday basis to fulfill yourhuman needs.
Contemplate on this for amoment.
When you thought about career, when you thought about money,
when you thought about family, when you thought about where you
would like to live, didn't youtake into account, when you made
(07:17):
those decisions, how they wouldmake you feel?
When you thought about livingsomewhere, did you imagine what
it would be like?
And when you had those feelings, when you had those thoughts,
they were internal and theydrove you to make a decision
(07:40):
about your career, how you makeyour money, where you want to
live, what your family wouldlook like.
They're all based uponinternally how you thought they
would make you feel, and why isit that you want to make sure,
(08:02):
as much as you can, all of theseareas materially in your life
make you feel a certain way?
It's because your main focusprior to any decision is always
going to be internal.
How am I going to feel aboutthis?
(08:23):
Can I imagine myself doing this?
There's always an internalcompass driving your actions.
Sometimes they are subconscious.
We are not paying a lot ofattention to them, so we are on
autopilot, which is not the bestidea.
In other words let me give anexample of that.
(08:45):
You go for a job.
The job may not be somethingyou feel that would work for you
, but you do it anyway becauseit's convenient.
You need the money and what youwould like to do is not
appearing right now, at thatmoment in time.
Not that it won't, it justhasn't appeared at the current
(09:09):
moment you're in.
So you know what you're aboutto take doesn't make you feel
right.
The conscious decision to embarkupon things that don't make you
feel right is, long and shortterm, not going to bring you
peace or happiness.
So it's going to affect yourown spiritual success and
(09:31):
well-being, knowing they don'tmake you feel right, but you go
ahead and do them anyway.
Or you meet someone that youfeel intuitively may not be
someone you want to do businesswith, date or be friends with,
(09:53):
but you do it anyway.
So again, now you're affectingyour spiritual well-being
because you're making decisionsconsciously that are not in
alignment with how you feel.
The reason that you do that, Isuggest to you, is because of a
lot of limiting subconsciousprogramming and beliefs and also
(10:17):
limiting destructive self-talk,which drives you to accepting
situations and circumstancesbecause you don't believe that
anything better is available orcould possibly come along.
Nothing is further from thetruth if you make sure that
you're watching how you'reprogramming your subconscious
(10:41):
and how you are developing yourself-talk.
Achieving material and spiritualsuccess means this.
You are constantly aware of thedecisions you're making and how
they present themselves in thereal world, materially and
otherwise, and how they affectyou internally when you are
(11:05):
making them and sometimes afteryou have made them and you've
walked away.
Material and spiritual successis based upon two very important
points of self-awareness.
The decision that you makeexternally is going to affect
(11:28):
how you feel internally.
If you keep overriding yourinternal compass to only work on
your external outcome, you willnot be going true north, you
will not be combining what isimportant for achieving your
spiritual and material success.
(11:49):
You will go off course.
You will at some point have torecalibrate, readjust,
reorganize and get back on track.
If you want to feel inalignment, integrated and in
sync with your spiritual andyour material goals and you
(12:11):
would like to achieve them.
How long it takes for you toget back on track, well, that's
really up to you.
It can be a year or two, it canbe a decade, it can be a month
or two, but your feelings ofdisconnect with the decisions
(12:33):
you're making in the real world, with how you feel internally,
never go away until they becomein alignment.
In other words, let me give anexample of that.
If you are going forward inyour life and you're involved on
a career path that you don'tfeel is right for you, because
(12:56):
that's internal, that is yourspiritual compass, but you keep
going to work and don't changeyour career path because of your
material needs, which isunderstandable.
However, following a spiritualpath may require you to take
some risks and get comfortablewith change, because if you
(13:20):
don't, years will go by and youwill find that the feeling of
discontent never left becauseyou didn't listen to yourself
internally.
You may make the adjustment.
You may not make the adjustment.
Some people go through theirentire life unhappy with what
(13:40):
they're doing for a living intheir career, unhappy with what
they are involved with as arelationship, and a lot of times
what you'll find is, is thatwhen you speak to people or you
yourself may know this they knewit very early on.
You knew it very early on.
I don't feel right about this.
(14:02):
So when you feel it very earlyon, that is where you begin to
have that combination.
That coming together ofmaterial and spiritual success
is understanding that when youfeel a disconnect early on with
an action you're about to takein the world that is at odds
(14:26):
with your internal world, thenlisten to it.
When you do, and you have thepower to listen to that inner
voice and that intuitiveguidance that says something
isn't right, you will have verydifferent outcomes and results
in your life than if you didn'tlisten to it.
(14:46):
Because opportunities open upto you when you listen to that
intuitive voice, because you areactivating other internal
spiritual qualities that arevery important to your own
ongoing material and spiritualsuccess, which is having faith
(15:09):
and trust in what you are beingguided to do.
However, if you act in themoment without faith and trust
and take opportunities that maybe in front of you, that seem to
be the only option at the timeand you may be in a position
(15:32):
where, if you need money, youtake the job.
If you feel that you want to bein a relationship, you take the
relationship.
It affects our personal and ourprofessional lives, so you act
upon it, knowing that it's off,it's not driving your compass
true north.
The issue that we have in ourlives ongoing every day with
(15:56):
material and spiritual successis simply this.
These two practical steps, asthe title of the episode
suggests.
Are you in sync with yourinternal and external feelings
and manifestations as they goforward in your life?
(16:18):
Two steps.
Internal, spiritual, external,material.
Working in sync together.
A simple example of that isthis.
If you are on a career paththat you feel that is your
(16:39):
purpose, that you feel inalignment with that, you feel
empowered and motivated to getup and go to work every single
day and it fulfills youinternally, you now have the
combination of material andspiritual success.
That is a very simple but veryunderstandable example.
(17:05):
You may be pursuing somethingthat you don't feel is easy to
achieve or accomplish.
It's very important tounderstand when you are pursuing
inner goals, inner feelings, being your authentic self, going
(17:26):
into the world and presentingyourself as the unique
individual that you are.
It may not be the easiest thingto do, but I'm sure that you
have experienced this.
It is the most fulfillingrealization as a self-realized
individual, that being yourselfmakes you feel good.
Owning your voice makes youfeel good.
There is no price on that.
(17:48):
There's nothing that someonecan say.
I will give you this amount ofmoney because you spoke up and
felt good about what you had tosay and you normally wouldn't do
that.
You felt empowered.
That is internal.
You begin to feel a greatersense of well-being.
You begin to have greaterself-confidence.
(18:09):
You begin to have greaterself-awareness.
You begin to realize that goingto work every day is important,
important fabric of your life, because most of your life is
going to be spent working andmaking money.
So why not be happy about whatyou're doing?
(18:29):
Why not take the road lesstraveled, Maybe the road that is
not as secure and the outcomeisn't as sure as a road that
most people go down and havetraveled continuously.
Because if you keep going downthe road, everybody else is
going down, you're going to endup where they end up.
(18:50):
The only way the view canchange in your life is if you
lead and you don't follow,Because when you are at the
front of the pack you get theclearest view, and when you're
leading your own life, you notonly have a clear view, you have
a very clear vision of whereyou're taking yourself and where
(19:13):
you want to end up.
But that requires you to be sointernally connected with what
is guiding you and then beingable to manifest that materially
into the world, as amanifestation, in order for you
to reap the benefits within thisrealm.
Essentially, there are tworealms, two worlds, two
(19:37):
experiences, two expressionsoccurring simultaneously with
you.
I've mentioned it in previousepisodes the human expression
and the spiritual realization.
Sometimes we don't give thespiritual realization the
emphasis that it deserves andthe priority that it needs.
(20:00):
As I mentioned earlier, we arepredominantly centered on our
feelings.
Most of what we do is so thatwe feel good.
We don't do anything so that wefeel bad.
Feeling is internal.
You and I are designed bydefault to want to feel good.
Our external behaviors, external actions are based upon
(20:25):
that inner prompting.
The self-realized individual isvery aware of a very important
fact.
Be very aware, self-aware ofyour inner promptings, of your
(20:48):
compass, your values, who youare.
What is prompting youinternally to act?
What is prompting you tomanifest externally what it is
that you want?
All external behavior is drivenby an internal requirement, an
internal need that you, me,anybody, feels will be fulfilled
by an action or a behavior thatwe are about to embark upon.
(21:14):
We can get in a lot of troubleif we act on impulse, if we act
out of ego, if we act out ofanger.
All of those are internalpromptings motivating us to act
a certain way in a given momentin time.
When you become very aware ofyour internal motivations, what
(21:39):
happens outside of you changes, and the way that you present
yourself to other people and theway the world responds to you
and people respond to youchanges as well.
Because there's only one changethat really makes a major
difference in your life it's howyou change yourself internally.
(22:02):
It is the most difficult changeto make, but the most profound
change you will make for theoutcomes that you really want,
which are peace, love, calm.
All are internal.
So be aware of what it is thatyou are bringing about
(22:23):
externally to manifest thoseinternal feelings that you want.
For example, the friends thatyou keep, the type and the
amount of social media that youconsume, the amount of time that
(22:54):
you have set in your goals forself-reflection, meditation and
self-care.
Achieving material and spiritualsuccess is very simple.
It's an integration.
It's an integration of twothings your inner compass, your
inner sanctuary.
Listening to that and thenmaking sure your behaviors match
(23:19):
what it is that you feelinternally.
If you can combine those twopractical steps consciously
ongoing, take a moment to stepback and ask yourself at any
moment in time, a simplequestion that makes you very
(23:45):
self-aware of what it is thatyou are doing.
What is driving me internallyfor the action that I am about
to take externally?
It's a little bit of work inthe beginning when you start
thinking that way, but it's verydeliberate and if you want to
(24:07):
achieve anything in life, especially material and
spiritual success, you have tobe very deliberate in your
actions, your thoughts and yourfeelings because ultimately they
will be the outcome of yourlife, and combining material and
(24:35):
spiritual success will be themost fulfilling life that you
could ever possibly have.
