Linton Bergsen (00:01):
Welcome to the Self-Realized Podcast with
Linton Bergsen, where you willshatter your limits.
I am not much into theself-help industry as much as
I'm into the self-realizedindividual, which is you, what
matters most to you, how you getthere and the obstacles that
may be in your way.
If you would like to be part ofthis podcast and part of that

(00:22):
discussion, I welcome you herewith an open heart, open mind
and open arms.
So without further ado, let'sget on with the podcast.
A very warm welcome to theSelf-Realized Shatter your

(00:46):
Limits podcast, episode number92, Balancing Your Human and

Spiritual Nature (00:52):
3 Practical Steps.
What does it actually mean tobalance both human and spiritual
natures, and do we in fact havetwo natures?
Do you recognize that as areality in your own life?
Because until you recognize itas a reality, then you can't get

(01:13):
involved in the concept ofintegrating both.
So the question you would needto ask yourself, I suggest to
you, is do you acknowledge youhave two natures, human and
spiritual?
If you do indeed recognize andacknowledge that, the second
question would be are youintegrating them and know how to

(01:35):
?
By the end of this episode youwill have an understanding of
how you begin to integrate bothof those natures together for
your business and your personalsuccess, because they exist.
They exist in us, which is ourspiritual nature, and then

(01:55):
outwardly in the world, which isour human nature.
So if we understand the conceptof human nature being the
outward expression of how webehave and our spiritual nature
being the inner realization ofhow we can act and not react to
the ongoing situations andcircumstances that occur in our

(02:18):
life, we begin to have anintegration.
So I'm going to give you threedifferent behaviors that exist
within the human nature and thespiritual nature and how you can
begin to integrate and balancethem both out together so you
can have a very successful lifeand a greater sense of

(02:41):
well-being, which essentiallyI'm sure you would agree we all
want and we are all seeking.
I mentioned.
I was going to give you threebehaviors that we can look at in
our human and spiritual natureand how to balance them out.
Let me start out with looking atanger as part of our human

(03:02):
nature.
That's the first one, becausewe all have anger in some form
one way or another in our lives.
It's universal when we haveanger build up in us because of
certain things that go on in ourlife that create anger or
events that have gone on.
We have the ability, within ourspiritual nature, to counteract

(03:28):
that anger with developing morepeace.
So now you're beginning tobalance out between your human
and spiritual nature, how youact instead of react to a human
emotion, which is anger, andapply a spiritual

(03:48):
self-realization, which it is arealization, an in-depth
realization that you've workedupon, of peace.
That's how you begin to balanceout your human and spiritual
natures.
There's always an antidote forone or the other, in this case,
anger, peace.

(04:15):
The second one I'm going to giveyou as a human nature, a human
behavior, once again, that weall have.
It's a reality, which isanxiety.
As I mentioned in severaldifferent podcast episodes,
anxiety and fear go together.
So, when you have anxietycoming up within you as a human
emotion, as a human realization, when your heart starts racing,

(04:36):
when you feel things are out ofcontrol, what would be the
spiritual component, thespiritual behavior, the inner
realization that you would bringto bear upon the anxiety that
you feel at a very human level?
The spiritual counterpart, thebalance weight for anxiety is

(04:58):
faith, because once you begin tohave that spiritual component
in your life an innerrealization of faith, you begin
to have less anxiety and fear.
Anxiety and fear have a veryhard time living in an
individual who's filled withfaith because they know, no
matter what, things will workout, even though they may not

(05:21):
see it and know it currently howit's going to, but they know
because of faith that it will.
It helps dispel on a spirituallevel, your spiritual nature,
anxiety.
Number three, an emotion, afeeling that we are all familiar
with, that we go through in ourlife.
It comes, it goes, but it doesexist in the human experiences

(05:47):
that we have in our human nature, is resentment.
We can resent certain things.
We can resent the way thatsomeone may have had a promotion
at work and we didn't get thatpromotion.
We may resent the way we'vebeen treated, be upset about it,
even feel a sense of betrayal.
So what is the antidote toresentment?

(06:10):
How do we begin to gointernally into our spiritual
nature so we can offset thisresentment that is disruptive on
an ongoing basis and reallydisturb our peace and well-being
?
The first part of it is, in myexperience with myself, and I
share this with you isunderstanding, understanding

(06:31):
where other people are comingfrom.
Why did they do that?
Is their ego involved?
Are there other parameterswithin their own life that they
are projecting on you in orderto do certain things to you?
Now, when I say do certainthings to you, it's because
sometimes, when we feelresentment, it's because
something or someone has donesomething in our lives that

(06:55):
causes us to feel betrayed orunappreciated, maybe violated a
trust or confidence that you hadin them.
Resentment is a very powerfulemotion because it gnaws away at
us.
It begins to erode away at thevery fabric of our being.
But if we add a littleunderstanding about the

(07:17):
perspective of life, which isreally a divine understanding,
and try to understand ratherthan be understood, we have
greater peace in our lifeBecause, for the most part,
people are not going tounderstand us or where we are
coming from.
So we, in order to have peace, you, in order to have peace, are
better off trying to understandother people.

(07:37):
In other words, why did theytreat you that way?
How do you overcome that?
You have to exercise somepatience as well, as well as
some compassion.
Again, all of these are innerspiritual awakenings from your
spiritual nature to counteractthe human experiences that
you're having through your humannature.

(08:00):
The issue becomes are you reallywilling to develop your
spiritual nature?
Because your spiritual naturerequires a lot more development
and attention than your humannature.
Why?
Because your human nature isconstantly interacting with the
outside world.
It's what you get up in themorning and you do every day.
You interact and sometimesreact to the outside world

(08:25):
continually.
Your spiritual nature is not areactive interactive mode with
the outside world.
Your spiritual nature requiresyou to cultivate an inner
sanctuary, an inner awareness,an inner prompting when you look
at developing the three areasof behavior that I mentioned
today of the spiritual nature, which are peace, faith,

(08:49):
understanding.
They require time alone insolitude, silence and stillness
for you to access them and, moreimportantly, to activate them,
because your spiritual natureneeds to be activated in order
for you to balance it out withyour human nature.

(09:12):
Your human nature is natural.
Most people operate from thatplace most of the time, looking
at what would please others, howthings look, who they may or
may not date, the car they maydrive, the people they know.
There's a lot going on therethat people are getting involved
in as to how the world wouldperceive them or how things

(09:35):
would look.
Would their family approve?
Would their friends approve?
These are all outward humanexperiences that we're trying to
interact to please the world.
The inner nature has nothing todo with that.
The inner nature, the innerspiritual nature, is always
about your own personalwell-being.
It's about how you feel aboutyou.

(09:57):
That is the journey of theself-realized individual the
personal development of you, thepersonal development of you
working on yourself to establishpeace, faith and understanding
as a reality within yourself foryou to feel complete.

(10:21):
If you think about the threebehaviors that are an integral
component of your spiritualnature which I've mentioned in
today's episode peace, faith,understanding.
Along with understanding youcan add compassion, if you like.
These are all behaviors thatyou cultivate.

(10:42):
They are behaviors that youhave decided you're going to add
to your being because it givesyou a greater sense of
well-being.
How do you begin to work onyour spiritual nature?
Because your human nature, forthe most part, exists in and of

(11:02):
itself.
A lot of times it's in control.
If you look at the threeemotions or three behaviors that
I mentioned in today's episodethat are part of our human
nature anger, anxiety andresentment.
You don't have to work on thosethree to have them, they
already exist.
They're just part of aneveryday existence.

(11:22):
You don't work on havinganxiety, it exists.
nger happens.
It's the same with resentment.
Looking at activating, onceagain, I mentioned that earlier
in the episode and it is animportant word activating peace,
faith and understanding.
You would have to and I use theword have to, because it's not
really a choice.

(11:42):
If you want to have a strongerbody, you have to go to the gym.
It's not really a choice.
, it's just what you have to do.
It's the same with yourspiritual nature.
There are certain have-to's thatyou have to begin to implement
in your life on an ongoing, daily basis, in order to have
the power within your own being, within your own

(12:05):
self-realization, of howimportant it is to cultivate
your spiritual nature.
Why?
Because when you are confrontedin this world with people, with
situations, with circumstances, are you going to continually
respond with anger, anxiety andresentment?

(12:28):
Because if you don't developthe spiritual nature.
That's all the tools you havein your toolbox.
Or are you going to make aconscious and it is a very
conscious, wise decision to settime and space and energy aside
for yourself to develop?
What I would suggest to you ismuch more important and much

(12:53):
stronger to own and possess inyour life in order to have as
the backbone the backdrop ofwhere you act from, and not
react when the human naturebegins to get activated and
triggered in this world.
The three attributes that I'msuggesting that you build as

(13:14):
foundation are peace, faith,understanding.
Now, there are a lot more thatyou can develop within your
spiritual nature, but justdeveloping those three, you will
find that when you go out intothe world and you spent the time
developing them by taking timeout, by walking in nature, by
taking some solitude, by makingtime to make this a priority

(13:38):
that when people say things toyou, situations happen in your
life, you are not reacting thesame way that you did before
because you have a referencepoint, you have a place.
now that you have begun todevelop that, you know what
peace feels like and you wantmore of that.
Anything that is going todisrupt your peace you actually

(14:00):
want to move away from you, knowhow to begin to center yourself
, how to work with your breath, because when you get involved in
working with peace, a lot of itis understanding how the breath
works, how your nervous systemworks, how you get triggered.
Working with your spiritualnature and working with your

(14:21):
breath will, in fact, help youto not get angry as quickly or
as often, and when you don't getangry or upset as quickly or as
often, you make betterdecisions.
So an investment you have tolook at it this way an
investment in your spiritualnature gives you so many

(14:44):
dividends long term in your life.
Think on this for a moment.
If you spent some time, realtime, in meditation, solitude,
peace, developing that peace, getting away from people, think
about how much more meaningfuland what better decisions you

(15:06):
would make from a place of peacethan you would from a place of
anger.
Contemplate on that for amoment and then ask yourself
this question is it worthdeveloping and taking the time
to develop that spiritual natureand hone in on developing that
peace?
Contemplate on this.

(15:26):
Can you imagine if you thoughtabout your life and you went
back and reflected for a whilethe decisions you've made
because you reacted or got angryor things that you may have
said and wish you didn't.
If you could take them back, ifyou can make different
decisions and make them from amore centered place of peace ,
acted instead of reacted do youthink you would have made better

(15:50):
decisions?
I think you would have.
I think, if you answer thatquestion honestly, the answer is
yes, the same with faith.
If fear and anxiety are notserving you that is your human
nature then you have to developyour spiritual nature with
prayer, meditation anddeveloping faith in something

(16:13):
bigger than yourself.
It is a non-negotiable item, because if you're going to rely
on yourself for everything andevery answer, you will have
constant anxiety, you will haveconstant fear, because there's
no way you can ever figure outthe unknown, and life is filled
with the unknown.
Lastly, if you look atresentment, which I have given

(16:34):
you in today's episode, and thenyou look at understanding,
would you rather have resentmentwhich then turns into anger,
which can then turn into anxietyand triggering all three that
we've mentioned today, or wouldyou rather take a moment of
contemplative reflection withinthe peace that you have now
learned to establish withinyourself, and get to a point of
understanding, get to a point ofcompassion?

(16:57):
There is a saying that I do likeit's better to understand than
be understood.
Why?
It's kind of self-serving in away.
It gives you greater peaceBecause when you try to
understand a situation fromsomeone else's point of view,
you might not agree with it, youmight even condone it.
Your value system may becompletely different, your goals
not agree with it, you mighteven condone it.
Your value system may becompletely different, your goals

(17:18):
may be completely different, but understanding allows you to
let go and let other people be.
When you say I understand whereyou're coming from, mean it and
then don't get involved in anyconflict or conversations trying
to convince someone else ortrying to make yourself right or
trying to say that this is theway it should be.
No, I understand where you'recoming from.

(17:38):
Done you keep your peace?
Because you, more importantly, understand where you're coming
from and you protecting yourpeace, you keeping that center,
is more important than yougiving it away to everything and
everyone that comes along on anongoing basis.
It just doesn't work in ourlives every day, ongoing for a

(18:00):
consistent sense of well-beingand isn't that what you want?
A consistent sense, as much asyou can, of well-being.
And how do you begin toestablish that sense of
well-being, how do you begin toget into ownership of this sense
of well-being?
How do you begin to make it areal reality in your life?

(18:23):
There's only one way that I'vefound in mine, and I'm sharing
it with you today, in today'sepisode, and that is by
balancing your human andspiritual nature, taking
practical steps, as I've givenyou today, in order for you to
accomplish that.
As I mentioned, practical stepsare when you have anger, you

(18:44):
counteract it with peace, whichyou have developed.
When you have anxiety, youcounteract it with faith.
When you have resentment, youcounteract it with understanding
and some compassion.
That is three practical steps, three practical ways, three
practical things you cancultivate to balance the scale

(19:05):
between what's going on in yourhuman nature and what's going on
in your spiritual nature, bycommitting to the time and the
effort that is required tobalance, activate and access
your spiritual nature so you canwork with it successfully.
With your human nature is acommitment of time, effort and

(19:26):
energy.
Spending some time alone, asmuch as you can get of solitude
and stillness, in order for youto feel that peace and begin to
have it as a place that you cango to when the world is trying
to get the better of you.
The same with anxiety.

(19:47):
Through prayer, meditation, understanding your own intuitive
sense, trusting your innervoice and your inner guidance,
you will have greater faith.
When things aren't working outfor you which is inevitable you
will have that still small voice, which I talk about a lot in

(20:09):
different episodes, that willguide you.
It will relieve some of theanxiety.
You will learn to trust thatstill small voice and have faith
as to where it is taking you, because you keep accessing it
and using it time and time again.
You cannot begin to use anythingthat you haven't cultivated.

(20:30):
You cannot use a muscle if youhaven't strengthened it in the
gym.
If you expect to have afunctioning body, you have to
put the time and the effort andthe work into it or it will
deteriorate and you will pay theprice for it.
You will have illness, youwon't be able to move, you will

(20:51):
have joints that begin to hurt.
It's the same with yourspiritual and human nature.
If you want to have a greatersense of well-being, you have to
put the work into balancingyour human and spiritual nature.
Once you've decided tointegrate both of those balance
them out, you'll have theability to have a great sense of

(21:15):
well-being, betterdecision-making, better health
and better relationships.
Because without balancing yourhuman and spiritual nature with
the three practical steps I'vegiven you today, you're going to
be imbalanced, and usually weget imbalanced with our human

(21:36):
nature and then we getoverwhelmed.
I know you don't want that foryourself.
You know you don't want thatfor yourself.
So I strongly suggest begin tostrengthen, develop your
spiritual nature with puttingtime and effort into
constructing, building,accessing your deep spiritual

(22:00):
nature, which you are fullyaware of is already there.
Of course, you want a greatersense of peace, to have greater
faith, to have greaterunderstanding and compassion.
Why?
Because they create a bettersense of well-being in you, less
conflict with yourself and theworld.

(22:21):
So begin on this journey ofself-realization to a deeper and
more meaningful life that canonly be attained through
truthfully balancing your humanand spiritual nature.
And just start out with thethree practical steps that I've

(22:43):
given you today to integratethem both and you will begin to
see the profound difference thatit makes in your life.
