My upcoming golf journey in my 50's, where my winter 2024 index is around 5.0 and my goal is to get to scratch handicap. For once in my golfing life, I'm not going to rely on hope to improve my game. I will introduce my improvement strategies, ranging from fitness & nutrition to mental game to practice plans (offseason and in-season). I hope others will get some useful insight into their game, as well.
I will discuss an honest review of this year's club championships - both using detailed stats and a subjective review and how to improve moving forward. Using Scott Fawcett's Decade has helped in this analysis.

I'll talk about my experience in my second competitive tournament round this year, the first of 3 rounds in the Country Hills Club Championship.
I experienced much confusion, got a little bloody, and battled back to remain in striking distance.
Join me as I talk through how I re-grouped and didn't let an early moment disrupt my entire round and tournament.

I'm excited to say that my play has improved of late, coinciding with my first tournament played. I've cut my index in half in a month and would like to share the four key activities that got me there.

Well - I did it. Finally teed it up in a competitive tournament. I'll walk through the key strategy and mental game highlights, what I learned, and how I've done since the tournament.
Unfortunately, both me and Dylan missed the cut (he was much closer than I), but I did show some very positive signs.

My season has started, and it's nowhere like the comfortable simulator. I am struggling to incorporate my swing changes into real action and I'm still getting used to some new clubs. To top it off, I'm preparing for my first non-club tournament ever and a little over a week.

I'm going to do a deep dive into the rounds of Masters Legends Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer (there's plenty of Rory content out there). We will delve into how these 65+ year olds tackled a 7500+ yard course and nearly made the cut. Then, we will see how you can use this information to improve your golf game.
I used datagolf.com, Arccos web searches, Masters app, and the Decade app for the data discussed.

I’m excited to share my journey over the off-season to gain clubhead speed across the bag without speed training. This involves mobility, strength, and tempo. I'll share the programs and apps that I used.
I can't wait until the season starts and I can start playing from the tips for the first time ever!

This is a very special interview with Alberta Sports Hall of Fame inductee Dave Schultz, who happens to be our reigning club champion at the age of 67. He beat plus handicap competitors, most of whom are much less than half his age.
We will talk about his golf pedigree, his approach and mentality when playing with longer hitters, fitness, and nutrition.

This episode highlights that a long, cold offseason is not a curse, but actually a blessing. I'm embarking on major swing changes that would be impossible during the on-course season. Tune in to see the benefits of the offseason and how you can take your game to the next level.

A very insightful video from former professional and the creator of the Decade Golf program (see link below), where Scott Fawcett has taken literally 'decades' of on-course knowledge and presented golfers of all abilities the understanding of optimal strategies on the golf course.
Scott and I discuss fitness, nutrition, course management, and speed training as it pertains to older golfers.
