This week in fatphobia we’re talking about Kanye West’s recent interview with Tucker Carlson. In the interview he uses Lizzo’s body/weight to criticize the cultural move towards body & fat acceptance. Of course, he does this Ye style by getting really conspiracy theorist with it. We break down the phrasing he uses and the claims he makes highlighting the misogyny and fatphobia within them.
Our listener question this week is from a cis-female woman about her partner shaming her for needing/wanting to use a vibrator. We discuss the cultural expectations around orgasms and who gets to have them. We give some pointers for how this conversation could be opened up for discussion.
Then we have wins of the week! Our win this week is a combined win about our sister reaching out for help in how to talk to her 8 year old son about sex and bodies because he’s expressed some curiosity. This conversation is a great one if you have kids especially.
