Taylor Johnson - Sex Coac (00:00):
Hello brother and happy 2024.
Happy New Year.
Welcome to this episode of theSex Upgraded podcast.
My name is Taylor and it is anhonor to be here with you.
This episode is going to bemore personal than usual.
I want to share with you someof the things I'm working on for
this next year and some of thetrainings that I'm going to be
taking.
And this is inspired in partbecause in 2023, I had the

(00:24):
experience of multiple peoplecoming up to me and saying
things like whoa, you're TaylorJohnson, it's so good to meet
you.
It feels awkward to talk to you, and I get how that can happen
sometimes, especially withpeople with large online
followings.
And also I want to be reallytransparent and real that I'm a
normal human just like you.
And when I think back to all ofthe trainings I've done, all

(00:47):
the teachers that I've studiedwith, one of the things I really
appreciated about some of theteachers was when they were
really transparent about theirown lives.
Who were they studying from?
What programs were they taking?
What were their personal growthchallenges?
What were they focusing on?
That sort of stuff.
Whenever any of those peopleshared that with me, in addition
to the practices that they wereteaching.

(01:08):
It helped the practices landmore deeply.
It helped me feel moreconnected with them as humans,
versus this strange sort of likeholder of an ideology or set of
practices that lacked that sortof human connection, for lack
of a better term.
So I want to share with yousome of those things of my life,
just so we can be a little bitmore connected and in the spirit

(01:30):
of transparency and also in thespirit of community, because
we're humans on this planetgrowing together.
And, yes, while I focused onreally really optimizing the
realm of sex, you've reallyfocused on something else, and
so we can learn from each other.
So that's the whole.
That's the whole intro piece.
First thing is that you mightnotice, if you're watching the

(01:51):
YouTube version, I'm wearing acolorful jacket, and this is
actually my dad's jacket frommany decades ago.
I've gotten the feedback fromsome people that, taylor, you
wear a lot of blacks and graysand you might enjoy wearing some
color, or at least it'd be funfor us to see you wearing some
more color.
This is from people close to mein my life, and so I thought

(02:12):
you know what?
Why not?
Let's try it.
Enough people have said that tome.
And I looked at my wardrobe andI'm like, yeah, that's a lot of
black shirts.
I'm wearing this black shirtright now, so this is an attempt
, or this is a trial, to wearmore color, and it feels fun, it
feels cool.
All right.
Professional trainings that'sthe first category of things I

(02:33):
want to share with you, and thenI want to get into the personal
growth edges after that.
This year 2024, there are threemain trainings that I'm
personally going to take, andprofessional development is
something that's really, reallyimportant to me, and I think, if
you're somebody watching thisor listening to this, you're
either interested in the freestuff I put out there or you

(02:53):
might be interested in taking acourse from me.
So it's useful for you to know,or at least you might like to
know, what it is that I'mstudying and why.
The first major training thatI'm taking this year is a
training that I've already beenin for about a year, and it is a
somatic experiencingpractitioner training.
This is a three year program, and if you haven't heard of
somatic experiencing before,I'll see if I can do a short, a

(03:18):
short spiel with my basicunderstanding after only being
in it for a year andexperiencing some sessions
myself.
Basically somatic experiencingis a modality where you're
sitting with a person acrossfrom you and let's say I am the
client and the person is thepractitioner over there.
I would really tune into thephysical sensations in my body

(03:39):
and then potentially call up achallenging memory and then I
would notice, pay very closeattention to how those physical
sensations might shift in mybody or how new sensations might
arise, and then I would workwith those sensations in
specific ways to integrate thechallenging experience from the
past, because the fact that somephysical sensations showed up

(04:03):
or change or maybe a tightnessoccurred it shows that there's
some unresolved things therethat could be resolved.
It's a very, very short versionof it.
It helps resolve trauma, basically, and so how does that
relate to the work that I do?
Well, there's a lot of guys whoexperience performance anxiety,
erectile dysfunction, sexualanxiety, that sort of thing, and

(04:23):
a lot of that is actually dueto some form of micro trauma
from the past, some form ofunresolved emotions or something
like that.
Trauma is basically anythingthat happens to your nervous
system that's too much, too fast, too quickly for you to process
and integrate.
Therefore it gets sort oflodged and stuck in there.
So an example for my earlierlife is one time I was with a

(04:48):
girlfriend at the time and Iejaculated very quickly I think
it was like 20 seconds afterbeing inside her and she looked
at me and she was angry and shesaid that's it and that
traumatized me, or I experiencedtrauma in that moment, or I let
me rephrase that I experiencedan event and emotions that
became trauma, that got storedin my system that impacted many

(05:11):
of my sexual experiences.
Going forward from that pointon and to work with that, to
work with something like thatwith somatic experience, and
could really rewire that.
And I've experimented a littlebit with someone on one clients
with this who've experiencederectile dysfunction or
performance anxiety and theresults they've gotten have been
pretty awesome so far and I'vegot two more years left to go.

(05:32):
It's it's awesome.
It's kind of like.
It's kind of like Westernaccepted magic.
What happens there.
It's truly profound work thatis very subtle and I think it's
the work that many, many, many, many, many, many, many people
need and I'm excited to beintegrating it into more of what
I do.

(05:52):
The second big training that I'mgoing to start actually this
month is I've enrolled in JohnWeinland's six month masculine.
Oh man, I'm totally forgettingthe name of it right now.
The specific wording I thinkit's the masculine, the embodied
masculine, leadership intensive.
That might be the specificwording.

(06:13):
I'll put it up on screen justso you can see it.
I've really appreciated thework John Weinland has done over
the years and I have read hisbook, I have watched a lot of
his videos.
I just really resonate with alot of the stuff that he puts
out there.
I don't put him personally on apedestal, but I put the work
that he does and all hisassistants and all the people

(06:33):
who go to those trainings into acertain category of of.
I don't know what I would say.
I don't have excellence is theright word, but I put it into a
category of of things that Iwant to go into, I want to learn
from.
Specifically, one of the thingsthey go into is polarity.
Now, polarity is a hot ticketitem for a lot of people these
days and it's really frustratingfor a lot of people and really

(06:56):
empowering for a lot of people.
And, outside of the terms ofmasculine and feminine and
anything like that, one of thethings I'm excited to practice
and learn in that course iscultivating and sustaining
sexual charge in long-termrelationship.
I am in a long-termrelationship right now with my
partner.
We live together, we share somefinances, we're really

(07:18):
integrated in ways that we neverhave been before, and that is
beautiful.
I love it and it's also broughtup new challenges.
So I want to go in and refine.
I don't know if if sharpeningthe sword is the right analogy
for that, but I want to practice.
I want to practice that and Ialso want to be in a container,
a group of other men who arereally committed to living a

(07:40):
life of excellence and reallypushing their edges.
I say all of that in thatparticular way because I'm not a
person who is.
I've gotten some feedback fromsome people that say, taylor,
you shouldn't take JohnWeinland's program, there's lots
of problems with it and allthis stuff.
And I again, I'm taking itbecause I think I can harvest
some good stuff from it.
And every training I've everdone, even somatic experiencing,

(08:02):
there has always been somebodythat has come to me and said,
taylor, you don't want to dothat training, that training is
bad, that training isproblematic, the instructor is
messed up, the yada, yada, yadaPretty much every teacher I've
ever studied with.
So I think that's just thereality of the world and I do
believe that it's possible to gointo a training that you know
that may or may not be somelevel of excellence that you can

(08:25):
still harvest whatever you needto harvest from it.
So with the third professionaltraining moving on, that I'm
going to.
That I've also seen negativefeedback about, but I personally
experienced amazingtransformation with so far is
with the Strozzi Institute.
They run an eight month somaticexcuse me, they run an eight

(08:47):
month somatic coaching programand Earlier last year 2023, I
went out and I did their initialprogram.
That's called EmbodiedTransformation and it totally
blew my mind.
It was amazing.
I had come from many years ofdoing a lot of really intensive
sort of like loud emotionalrelease, big sexual experiences

(09:09):
happening, like all that kind ofpersonal transformational
growth work.
And then I went to Strozzie'straining.
It was super subtle, focused onmicro adjustments of body
posture, focused on breathing, focused on how I held myself in
different relationships indifferent interactions with
different people and reallytuning into the subtle layers.

(09:29):
That was incrediblytransformational for me and
really eye-opening to the worldof subtle work and to the world
of somatic and to the world ofsubtle energies.
It was really profound and Idecided then that I am going to
do their big training programeventually.
I've already done somebody-based coaching programs and
that has been a lot of thefoundation of the work that I do

(09:51):
one-on-one with guys already, but I think this Strozzie
program will really take it tothe next level and really
provide some incredible ways forme personally to transform, but
also for me to help you orwhoever I work with transform in
a powerful, sustainable,embodied way.
I'll put links to those threetrainings in the description of

(10:12):
this episode and also in thedescription of the video, if
you're watching this on YouTube, and ask me any questions if you
want.
I'm an open book.
I am really excited about thesethree and there's one more that
I would like to do that I needyour help with.
I personally would like tostudy BDSM more.

(10:32):
I've experimented with it somein my personal life and I found
it to be highly sexy and eroticand beautiful and connective and
safe, and it creates thisreally incredible container
between DOM and SUB.
That's just remarkable and ithas a lot of crossover with

(10:52):
everything I've learned in theconscious sexuality realm, the
tantric, the Taoist realms, andI would yeah, I'd love to go
deeper, but I don't know of atraining that I'm excited about
signing up for.
So if you know of a really goodBDSM training or somebody to
study with, please shoot me amessage or leave a comment
beneath this video.
I would love to dive moredeeply into that realm, because

(11:13):
it is delicious, so far in mypersonal life at least.
So yeah, thank you for that, and now I would like to share
with you some of my own personalgrowth edges and also some of
my personal interests, goingforward at least, related to
this work.
Number one is and you will hearmuch more in depth about this

(11:35):
next week with the next podcastthat's coming out Number one is
I want to understand a lot moreabout male hormones,
specifically testosterone freetestosterone, estradiol,
cortisol, sex hormone, bindingglobulin all that kind of stuff
and its impact on our motivation, our cognition, our health, our
excitement, our sexual function.

(11:56):
That is an area that I haven'tpersonally gone deeply into.
Over the years that I've beendoing this work, I've focused on
all kinds of other stuff, liketechniques on how to last longer
in bed buzzword right how toincorporate the heart into sex,
how to have these reallytranscendental, mystical,
incredible multi orgasmic,spiritual sexual experiences.
All that has been awesome andnow, perhaps because I'm 38,

(12:21):
perhaps because it's the peopleI'm surrounded by the
conversation of testosteronelevels has started to come up
more in my sphere and in mypersonal network and I decided
to get my levels checked acouple months ago, got some
interesting results.
The conversation next week iswith a urologist who specializes
in male hormone optimizationand he told me that, taylor,

(12:41):
even though your testosteronelevels are normal, they're
actually low and you want themto be about double what they are
, and that was like kind of amind blowing, eye opening thing
to here.
So this is something that I'mpersonally going to investigate
a lot more of over the next sixto 12 months and if you have any

(13:02):
really good resources on thetopic, please feel free to send
them to me, either in well, Iguess a comment under this video
wouldn't be that great for thatbut a direct email or a direct
message on Instagram.
I'm totally down to receive anyrecommendations from you.
Thank you for that.
Number two ADHD or ADD.
So excuse me a little personalreveal back when I was about 19

(13:27):
or 20, I got diagnosed with ADHDand I took medication for a few
years and I really didn't likethe medication.
I felt like it dehumanized me.
I felt like it turned me into arobot, and so I was able to
overcome the symptomology at thetime by doing a lot of
meditation and yoga andembodiment practices, and then I
got off the medication and Iwas fine for a while.

(13:48):
Well, for whatever reason, thisyear well, this past year, 2023
, a lot of that came back up forme.
Possibly it was because Ibought a house and that was a
huge, huge, huge project withlots of emotions all over the
place.
I bought it with my partner.
We combined finances.
There's all kinds of stuffgoing on there and who knows why

(14:09):
, right.
But I started to look into thisbecause a friend of mine talked
about her experiences with ADHD.
I had a conversation and Ithought you know what I actually
feel?
Really similar to that.
So I started reading a book.
I'll put it up on screen rightnow.
It's an awesome book.
I started reading some articles.
I started talking with mypartner about this, and we found

(14:30):
one article that had achecklist.
I forget where the article is.
I'm sorry I can't share it withyou, but the checklist was
something like if you're apartner to somebody with ADHD,
you might be experiencing thislist of things.
And we went through and it was.
It was all the things, all thethings, and yeah, it's
fascinating stuff.

(14:50):
So I'm specifically interestedin the relationship of ADHD and
sex and intimacy andrelationships.
Yes, it does affect businessand life and that sort of a
thing, but I've figured out howto turn my hyper focus and those
rounds into success.
So now I want to figure out thesex and ADHD thing.
So if you have any goodresources for that, please send

(15:12):
me a recommendation as well.
It's something I want topersonally research a lot more
for my own benefit and also forthe benefit of anyone I work
with.
Just for a quick example as tohow ADHD could show up impacting
the sexual experience in my ownlife Say, my partner and I are
having sex.
It's great, it's lovely, butthen there's this I don't know,

(15:33):
maybe my foot gets caught in ablanket or something, or I hear
a sound from somewhere elsethat's not in the room.
That distracts me, and for mostnormal people it wouldn't
really register, but for myself, somehow my brain latches on to
those things and it's likegravitationally pulls me towards
them and takes my attentionaway from the moment, and it's a
monumental effort sometimes toget back to the sexual

(15:56):
experience.
Other times that's not an issue, and what's actually the issue
for me is transitioning from mywork mindset into the sexually
connected mindset.
That's a challenging thing forme.
Apparently, that's alsochallenging for a lot of people
with ADHD.
So going to be investigatingthat a lot more as well.

(16:17):
And, number three, a personalgrowth edge for me for 2024 is
to spend more time relaxing.
That is an edge for me.
A lot of times, if I thinkabout taking a nap or I think
about getting a massage, thefollow up thought that's almost
immediate is well, taylor, youcould be using that time to be
more productive, and whathappens with that is burnout, or

(16:42):
at least this feeling ofrunning on empty consistently.
And I'm good at that, and I'mgood at going, going, going,
going going and I can accomplisha lot of things, but in the
process, I will lose some of mysoul, I'll lose some of my
happiness, and if you watchedthat video on YouTube about my
testosterone levels at the endof 2023, you'll hear a little
bit more of my story of thathappening last year.

(17:04):
And so a commitment to myselfand a growth edge is to
regularly schedule in more timesto relax, more times to do fun,
playful things going to thesauna, going to the gym, getting
massages, having having frienddates where we just show up and
play basketball together.
Having friend dates where wejust hang out and play cards or
settlers of Katan or playwhatever game.

(17:26):
Salad Bowl is a really fun game, by the way.
If you've never heard of that,I think some people also call it
poop smoothie, which is likewhy the fuck would you call that
game poop smoothie?
Anyway, circling back around, that might have been an ADHD
moment.
Who knows?
Those are some of my personalgrowth areas for this next year
and coming up also just for fun.

(17:47):
There's a lot of cool stuff onthe horizon.
There's a prostate toy reviewthat I'm going to be doing
really soon, in the next coupleof weeks, and a very, very
awesome podcast episode iscoming out in a couple of weeks
all about sexual energytransmutation, specifically how
to do that, and I go in depthand I'm stoked about that.
I'm stoked to share it with you, filmed right here in this room

(18:07):
in the new podcast set up justover there.
And finally, I have a requestfor you to close out this
episode.
I would love to hear from you.
What topics would you like meto dive into?
What topics would you like meto make videos about, podcasts
about?
Is there anybody that you wouldlike me to interview for this
podcast?

(18:28):
I love, love, love hearing fromyou and having this exchange,
having this feedback from you, helps keep me fired up to keep
putting stuff out there into theworld.
You know, earlier I talkedabout in the spirit of community
and I really do authenticallyfeel that like, yes, here I am
in this room talking to a camera, but my experience right now
talking to this camera is thatI'm actually talking to you on

(18:50):
the other side of this camera.
Like I actually feel that andit feels really fucking cool,
and so, to keep this energeticcycle going, hearing from you
would be a great gift for me andit would actually help a lot of
people, because if you'rehaving a question, I guarantee
you thousands of other peopleare having that question as well
.
For example, just yesterday Igot a message from somebody who

(19:11):
was asking me about porn, butspecifically they said they were
done with porn, but now they'reexperiencing these sexy images
pop up on Instagram and theirExplorer feed and they're
getting distracted by it there.
What sort of strategies canthey use to help fix that, to
help not go down that rabbithole?
And for whatever reason, a womanin the thong shows up right

(19:33):
next to the truck video on yourExplorer page.
So that's a video I'm going todo soon as well, and it's
inspired by getting an emailfrom, possibly you if you're
watching this video.
So thank you for that and thankyou again just for being here.
It truly is an honor to sharethis time with you, to share
this space with you, and Ireally appreciate you being

(19:53):
somebody who cares about sexualwellness, sexual excellence,
about living your best life.
It's awesome to be here withyou, thank you.
Thank you again.
I look forward to hearing fromyou and I hope you have a
beautiful day.
I'll see you next time.
