I get to help you, the homeowner, get what you need from the right home service

Good friend of mine in the heating and air conditioning space,

Nathan Shafer, is joining me from Shafer Heating and Cooling. Hey, Nathan.
Hey, how are you? I am doing well. Thank you so much for joining me here on the program.
As you know, I love, as you also love, to help people with their overall comfort in their home.
And this question has come in to the show, and that is, what types of furnaces

(00:43):
are available to me or the people in our area?
Great question. So we could really spend a lot of time on that one.
There are so many different options in today's market. But for time's sakes,
and so we don't bore everybody and get too technical, you know,
I guess we could start with some gas furnaces and things first.
And so in the natural or propane gas furnace side of things,

(01:06):
there's anything from your Cadillac systems. It's going to make your modulating.
They call it 98 percent inverter driven type systems.
And you could pair those with heat pumps or ACs, whatever you wish to do.
And that's something we could help you know decide what makes the most sense
for for your wants your needs um efficiencies and different things um so that's

(01:27):
on the gas first side that can go all the way down to um with an 80 gas furnace
um single stage basically hey when i turn it on.
It's on 100 percent. And some things, something to think about when the people
look at efficiencies is kind of understand what that means.
So what's the difference between
80 percent efficient furnace and a 98 percent everywhere in between?

(01:49):
Easiest way to look at that is, hey, if I spend one hundred dollars in propane
or natural gas on an 80 percenter, I'm going to get 80 dollars back out of it.
I'm losing twenty dollars at the flu every time it's running.
Same thing with a 98 percent.
I'm getting ninety eight dollars of my hundred dollars back in heat in my home.
I'm only losing $2 and so Yeah, lots of options even just on the gas side of

(02:11):
things when we go to electric.
There's electric furnace options And those are typically paired with heat pumps
for efficiency purposes Great options as well.
And once again, you have all those from the base model systems that are just
single stage They're on or they're off all the way up into the Cadillac systems
that are fully modulating systems variable drive multi-stage equipment.

(02:32):
And it really just learns the patterns of you and your home and what your needs are.
There's also geothermal systems. And those are going to be your most efficient,
most comfortable, longest lasting, longest warranties.
And those are going to be upwards of 350 to 450% efficient.

(02:53):
And so meaning, hey, if I spend a hundred dollars in electric,
I'm going to to get up to $450 of energy of heat back out of that system because
we're pulling energy from the earth.
And then the electrification, the compressor and refrigeration system is doing the rest of the heating.
And there's other systems as well. There's hydronics and different things for
radiant floor heat and whatnot, but it would still fall under one of those three main categories.

So in a nutshell, without going too deep into it, there's lots and lots of options.
What you should do, everybody, is you should call Nathan and his team and they
