Never forget that YOU have value!
This is the message that Tabitha Willis wants to share with the world. Hailing from the Chicagoland area, Tabitha shares her journey toward embracing her passion for both STEM and advocacy while persevering through the challenges posed by being one of the few Black women in such spaces. We talked about her leadership journey, finding role models, and the importance of remembering that your authenticity qualifies you to walk into every room you step into.
ABOUT TABITHA:
Hailing from the Chicagoland area, Tabitha combines her love for both STEM and advocacy through her research in evolutionary biology and environmental justice at Northwestern Medicine and The University of Chicago. In between being a student, Tabitha organizes equitable access to STEM education for youth. In her pursuit to inspire the next generation, she has served as a mentor for Essence and Walt Disney World’s Dreamers Academy, championed inclusive movement on college campuses with Nike Project Move, and worked toward increasing mental health access to students in Chicago’s Southside through the Obama Foundation Community Leadership Corps. In 2022, she was 1 of 25 trailblazers featured in Malala Yousafzai’s Dare to Learn: The Power of an Educated Girl. In addition, to being 1 of the top 50 Chegg Global Student Prize honorees out of 7,000 nominations from 150 countries, Tabitha is a Taco Bell and Ashoka national changemaker as a semi-finalist for their inaugural Ambition Accelerator.

She Shall Speak is an organization dedicated to amplifying the intersectional narratives of Gen-Z Black girls and empowering them to pursue civic service, entrepreneurship, and social justice. We envision a world wherein those who are disproportionately impacted by social inequities are empowered with the resources and networks necessary to spearhead positive social change in their communities. Since our founding in February 2022, we have reached 400 girls across 25 US states and 20 countries. 🌎
