In this episode, I will be talking all about barriers that affect our visibility, especially for women, from the social, emotional, and financial aspects, to why and how those barriers keep us against the position of power and prominence.

  • Tokenism 
  • When we allow tokenism, we give a false set of equity and equality that is not in existence.
  • Gender inequality 
  • Gender inequality and also harassment, are barriers.

  • The glass ceiling.
  • A barrier that is keeping women from reaching the highest position that they deserve.
  • Many social policies and programs keep women out of the boardroom (company structure, the expectation for women to work part-time, etc.)
  • In terms of finances and support for women, the higher level that you go, the more limited support typically is.
  • This decade is going to be critical, and how you start this decade can affect the way you move and maneuver through it.
  • The glass cliff.
  • Similar to the glass ceiling but more about women in the minority being put in top positions during a crisis where failure is more likely to prevail.
  • The glass escalator.
  •  The idea that a man can have a fast-track in a predominantly women-led company, organization, or industry.
