How is everything
going in your business?

Speaker 3 (04:04):
need to know the
scoop.
I love hearing your updates.
I actually really, really loveit with those of you that I work
with personally, coachingclients or in GrowGetters or in
the Passion to Podcast, ofcourse.
All of you are making so muchprogress and you are pursuing
your dream and it's so admirableand you're so inspiring.
I know you are.
I know you are so inspiring tothose around you.
(04:26):
Think about it for a minute.
There's a lot of people aroundyou today that have wanted to
start things, whether it be abusiness, a podcast, a YouTube
channel, maybe even just like anew fitness program, a new way
of life.
Maybe they're trying to stopsomething that's been a bad
habit and people are scared todo it.
They have a hard time takingthat very first step because it
is.
(04:46):
Wouldn't you agree that, like, the first days are the hardest
because you're like a minute agoI was doing this, but now I'm
not and I'm creating this newlife for myself.
Right, it can be really hard, but you're amazing, you're
actually doing this, you'reputting your mind to it, you are
going for something and I'lltell you something your business
(05:09):
and or your podcast is going togive you renewed purpose.
It really is.
I know some of you have beenseeking a more purposeful life,
a more fulfilling life, especially with a career, and
starting a business has been away that you think you could do
that, and I want to tell youthat you can.
You can and it will be one ofthe most rewarding journeys of
(05:33):
your life.
I'm telling you it will bebecause you will have achieved
something that you dreamed of,that you didn't think you could
do, and you're going for it.
And you're putting yourself outthere every day.
Right, we're all gluttons forpunishment.
Right, we're putting ourselvesout there and we know we may be
judged.
We know that people may saysomething about us, or our
family may be like what is shedoing?
(05:54):
Or our friends, but it doesn'tmatter, because we're following
what's in our soul and I'm soproud of you today.
Today, I want to talk to thoseof you that feel overwhelmed.
You feel stuck.
You feel like you are boggeddown.
You're spinning your wheels.
Maybe you have a full-time job,a part-time job, maybe you're a
parent, maybe you volunteer.
Maybe you're taking care ofaging parents, maybe you're
(06:17):
doing all of those things.
I've had clients that have hadfull-time jobs and taking care
of elderly parents, havechildren and still want to
pursue their business.
I don't know how they do it.
They're superheroes to me, butit's true.
Those of you that are out therethat are feeling this way, I do
get it.
I've been massively overwhelmedat my businesses at times.
(06:38):
I remember after I had my thirdchild, that's when my
businesses were at their height.
I had two online boutiques andthey were at their peak.
This was like 2000,.
When was she born?
2007.
?
Actually, the peak was laterthan that.
It was like 2000,.
Maybe 12, 13.
But anyways it was.
(06:59):
They were growing and growing, Ithink, at a speed that I hadn't
had before, and I hired mysister-in-law and then I had to
get other help at the house andthen I had to hire another
friend.
Like I had to keep hiringpeople all the time.
I think that's more what it wasmore of an explosion at that
time.
And then I had a child and Iwent through postpartum Again.
I went through postpartum withmy first child and my third
child and it was terrible, terrible and just anxiety,
(07:21):
couldn't sleep, like the wholething, and I was extremely
overwhelmed because I loved mybusinesses and I loved my family
, but I couldn't figure out howto do it all and I just kind of
went through an overwhelmed timeand so I have been through
different phases of overwhelm.
I totally have and I get it, andit can be hard, but I think
sometimes we have to helpourselves.
(07:41):
We have to say, ok, I need toget a grip.
A lot of times we seek outsidehelp, which I think is fantastic
.
You're seeking outside helpright now.
You're listening to me, maybeyou talk to family members,
friends, people at your church, whatever it is.
I understand.
I think that's important, but Ialso think it's super important
that we equip ourselves withcoping mechanisms.
(08:04):
I mean, it's the same withtoddlers and children.
When they get angry and they'rethrowing a fit, we try to talk
them through it and give themcoping mechanisms so that they
can deal with it themselves.
First, as a first line ofdefense.
That's what we're doing today.
People, I'm giving you a copingmechanism.
(08:24):
That is your first line ofdefense when you are feeling
that overwhelm.
Come on and you feel it and yousee that you're not making
progress.
You're stuck in one thing, whether it be the tech for your
business, or you're stuck tryingto figure out some idea or
trying to create a product orservice and you're kind of stuck
on that, or what you knowwebsite platforms you should use
(08:44):
, or trying to create a productor service, and you're kind of
stuck on that, or what you knowwebsite platforms you should use
, or you know starting a podcastand just all this stuff.
Or maybe even you're starting aYouTube channel or trying to do
social media and you're gettingblogged down with graphics or
who knows what it is.
But I feel you, I've been there.
I've had product businesses,I've had a service business as a
photographer, part-time, andnow I've had this coaching
(09:05):
business.
I've had courses, I've hadworkshops, I've had one-on-one
coaching.
I get it.
I've been there in a lot ofsituations and it can be
debilitating.
Like let's just be honest, itcan right.
Like you can feel like you justare paralyzed and can't move,
or you feel like you're justspinning rails and you're going
(09:27):
nowhere.
So today I'm about to reveal toyou this simple three-step
reset that's going to help youas your first line of defense,
because you've got to helpyourself right so that you can
get out of it.
No-transcript available and wehave to be able to use coping
(10:14):
mechanisms.
And then, when you can't, whenyou cannot cope on your own.
You get help, right.
Whatever that may be, whetherit's a friend, whether it's a
business coach, whether it's amentor, it's someone in your
life, a trusted, confidant right, it's therapy.
Whatever it is, you do that, okay, because you're on a
mission.
Right, we're on a mission whichis leading me to my three
(10:34):
points, which I'm so excited toshare with you.
I want you to write these down.
I don't know if you're drivingno-transcript what I've used and
(11:14):
I help clients use this samethree-step process.
So here it is.
You ready, okay?
First one is to breathe.
I'm breathing out and in.
I don't know if themicrophone's going to pick this
up in the editing.
It may take it out, but I'mgoing to breathe in, breathe out
and take yourself back to yourinitial mission, when you were
(11:35):
dreaming about starting thisbusiness.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Take yourself back to the wholereason that you started this
business.
What mission are you on?
So, breathe and think aboutthat mission that you are on.
I'm telling you this worksBecause a lot of times, this is
(11:56):
step one, by the way, we havetwo more steps, but this helps
you ground yourself.
Ground yourself and stop all thenoise going on around you that
you should be doing this.
You should be using thissoftware.
You should be showing up here.
You need to fix this.
You need to fix this text.
You need to have a graphic.
You need to fix your website.
You need to record this.
You need to do that.
And it's craziness, it's it'spure madness.
(12:18):
Okay, so let's remove all thatand go back to why we started
this business and what ourmission really is Like.
Who are you trying to help?
Envision those people that youwant to help, so you're going to
breathe.
Take yourself back to thepeople that you want to serve,
to your mission.
You're on a mission to helppeople in this world.
And what is it?
It's very simple.
(12:38):
It's not a long mission, it's avery simple mission.
You know, when I think about mymission, just what always comes
to mind is I want to give peoplelike you the confidence and
skills needed to build asuccessful business.
Like I want to help those ofyou out there that have been
wanting to do this and maybejust hesitant for some reason.
(12:59):
You were holding yourself back.
I wanted to give you theconfidence to do it, the
encouragement and the skills, the business skills, to actually
make it happen.
That's my mission, in the mostsimple, raw form.
Right, it's not a professionalmission statement, it's just my
mission.
That's a mission I'm on.
I'm just imagining, especially, women out there that are so busy
(13:21):
and doing all these things andthey've just dreamed of starting
a business and they have atalent, they have a gift for
something.
They actually have a reallyawesome gift that can be used.
They've already helped peopleprobably in their life with it
and they've just been a littlescared or didn't have the
business skills.
Maybe they were a teacher or anurse.
They did something totallydifferent and they just needed
that nudge, they needed thatencouragement and they needed
(13:43):
the business skills to make ithappen.
And that's my mission.
I'm telling you this because Iwant you to realize how simple
stating your mission in yourhead can be and to breathe and
go back to your mission.
That's number one.
Breathe and go back to yourmission.
Okay, I'm lightheaded now.
Anyone, anyone else beenbreathing with me and feel
(14:04):
lightheaded?
I feel lightheaded now, okay, number two what I want you to do
is truly and purely justidentify the bottlenecks in your
business right now.
There is a bottleneck.
What is it?
Is it the tech?
Is it the steps?
Is it the graphic design, is itthe website?
Is it?
You are just don't feelconfident in yourself, like what
(14:26):
is actually the bottleneck?
And I don't know what it is.
For you, identify it.
That's all you're doing.
In step two, you're just callingit out, like let's just call it
out, say you know what's reallybottlenecking me, the tech, or
I just don't know the steps, orI don't know if what I'm doing
is right.
So I'm overthinking everythingand second guessing everything.
(14:48):
Maybe it's.
I'm stuck in indecision.
I don't know if I should bedoing this first or this first.
I'm stuck with my business name.
Some of you get stuck on abusiness name.
You get stuck picking platforms.
You get stuck trying to figureout, maybe, if you have a
service, how to package it oroffer it your pricing.
I've seen people go into totalmadness trying to figure out
(15:11):
pricing, like literally havecoaching calls just about
pricing, because it will freakyou out.
It will freak you out, I'm notkidding.
So, identify the bottlenecks.
All we're doing is calling themout.
We're not trying to solve them,we're not trying to do anything
else, we're identifying them.
So in the first step we took abreath and we took ourselves
back to the mission and now wego okay, I'm on that mission.
And then we go to step two andwe go okay, wait, what?
(15:33):
What's holding me back?
What is slowing me down?
What's stalling me?
What's been stalling me formonths Some of you for months,
okay, for months?
Maybe your bottleneck is thatno one around you believes in
what you're doing and you'venever had a confidant, a guide,
a coach or anyone to help you.
(15:54):
That's a bottleneck.
Again, we're not solving itright now in step two.
We're just identifying it.
But you have to identify, youhave to be able to pinpoint it.
It's like if I went into thedoctor right now and I'm like
I'm in pain, and they're like, okay, great, where is it?
And what?
If I said I'm just in overwhelmand I don't know, the doctor
(16:16):
would be like do you need to bein a mental hospital?
No, I'm kidding, they wouldn'tsay that, but they would get to
the point Y'all know I'm joking,right.
They would get to the point oflike, okay, is it in your arm?
Is it in your head?
Is it in your back?
Is it in your feet?
Is it your nerves?
Is it your muscles?
Do you know?
Is it your head?
Is it your teeth?
(16:37):
What is it?
You would be surprised how manynew small business owners, new
podcasters, even veteranbusiness owners and podcasters
will get in overwhelm but have ahard time articulating what
exactly it is.
Or they've been hiding behindthe shield of overwhelm without
(16:59):
actually identifying what'soverwhelming.
It's like when someone saysthey're mad and you're like okay
, you're mad, what are you madat?
They're like I don't know, I'mjust mad.
They're just mad and you'retrying to figure out.
Why are they mad?
Why are they in a bad mood?
What happened?
Did you say something?
Is it something in this house?
Is it the way I looked at you?
Are you mad at your family?
Are you mad at me?
Like, do you know how hard thatis to figure out?
(17:21):
What a mystery that is.
Don't be a mystery.
Identify what it is.
So think about your business, your situation again, starting a
podcast, starting a business.
Maybe you're even a veteran andyou feel yourself stalled and
stuck and overwhelmed and evenspinning your wheels.
What is the bottleneck?
We have to be able toarticulate it and identify it.
(17:41):
So that's step two.
So what was step number one?
Y'all are already memorizingthis.
I know you are, you don't evenhave to write it out.
Number one is breathe and goback to your mission.
Number two is to identify thebottlenecks, like, truly simply,
easily.
What are the bottlenecks?
Say them, speak them, say themout loud.
This is what's holding me back.
(18:03):
Okay, we've identified it.
Now We've identified the demon.
We've got to call it out.
It's like an exorcism.
No, I'm kidding.
Y'all know I'm joking, right?
I just want to make sure mysense of humor is a little weird
sometimes, but we've got to beable to call it out.
Okay, so that's number two.
Number three.
Number three Give yourself atime frame that you're going to
(18:26):
get this figured out and make itgood enough.
Right now, whatever thatbottleneck is, you're just going
to, you're going to figure itout, or you're going to reach
out to someone, maybe even acoach like me, because if you
give yourself a timeframe andyou still can't fix it, the odds
of you fixing it after thattimeframe are slim.
I am the queen of trying tofigure something out and I will
(18:51):
just wallow in that miserybecause it's like our ego saying
you can't figure it out.
You've got to be able to figureit out and I will wallow in it
and work on it and waste hoursand hours and days and days.
You give yourself a timelineand you say I need to have this
done by tonight or tomorrow ormaybe.
(19:13):
Maybe you're giving yourself aweek.
I would not give it much longerthan that, because I'm telling
you it's going to keep going.
Here's what you need to do.
You need to hire somebody tohelp you, whether that be
somebody to do the work for you,or a coach, a mentor, a guide,
a confidant who can give youadvice on how to make it good
(19:34):
enough and fix it right nowyourself, so you can move on.
Okay, I probably made this stepnumber three sound complicated,
but it's not.
You are giving yourself adeadline.
Okay.
So again, step three.
You're gonna say, okay, thebottle, you identified the
bottleneck.
Okay, just say the bottleneckwas graphic design.
(19:55):
And you just, you'rebottlenecked at your logo and
you're freaking out and youcan't figure out basic logo.
You're going to give yourself adeadline and you're going to
say, for example, tomorrow by 6pm, if I don't have a logo, that
is good enough.
That, honestly, is good enough, like I could show it to someone
.
And if they're like, yeah, that's good, it's not the best,
(20:16):
but it's good enough for rightnow to get going.
I don't have that.
I'm going to get on Fiverr orUpwork or one of those sites and
I'm going to hire somebody.
Or I'm going to ask aroundsomebody that I can hire to do
the logo.
Y'all can post in my Women'sStarting Businesses and Podcast
Facebook group See if anyone inthe group is helping with what
you are bottlenecked on.
Or you can reach out to someonelike me to help guide you and
(20:40):
help put some sense into yourhead and say, ok, we're going to
peel this back, we're going tomake this simple and you're
going to do this right now.
Or maybe you're going to scrapwhat you're doing.
I don't know.
I don't know what the person isgoing to say.
I don't know what I'm going tosay because I don't know your
situation, but I often do thisin coaching.
People will come to mebottlenecked right and I will
(21:04):
say you know what, we're goingto scrap that right now.
We're going to scrap it andwe're going to go on to
something else.
Or I'm going to say let me seeit, let me see the logo, and I
may say that's amazing, that'sgood enough right now.
In the next few weeks you canget on Fiverr, you get somebody
to make it even better, whatever.
Or I may say you know what youknow, it's not that great.
I think we need to hire someoneto do your graphic design.
(21:26):
I will tell you what I think.
Okay, but you have to get thisoff your plate.
You have to get this off yourplate.
So step three is aboutboundaries on yourself to either
make it good enough by your owndeadline and just say I'm going
to go with what I have bytomorrow at 6 pm, or, if I can't
(21:48):
do it, I'm going to outsource,I'm going to hire somebody on
Fiverr or Upwork or one of those.
Or I'm going to get a businesscoach to help me figure out how
I can do this myself and justlike, end all this drama.
Get a second opinion.
Y'all.
I get second opinions.
I get fifth opinions.
Y'all know I've been to abazillion doctors over the past
three years since I got COVID.
(22:09):
For those of y'all that are newto me, I had a lovely
autoimmune pop-up after COVID.
It's very soon after.
That affects my muscles.
Now I can see it's affecting myspine.
It's insane.
I'm okay, I'm great, I can walkevery day, I'm good, but I've
got a ton of issues that arecoming off of it.
(22:31):
Luckily my brain is good and Ifeel good and I'm happy and I
have a great marriage and agreat family and all is good.
But I just have this buggingissue right.
I have gone to now sixrheumatologists.
I don't care, I keep goinguntil I get the help that I need
.
I'm not going to sit here andwallow in this and go, oh, my
hands are hurting, my spine ishurting, it's hurting around my
back, and just say that andwallow in that misery.
(22:53):
I'm going to say, if I can'tfix it with Aleve or Meloxicam
or you know medication that Ialready have, that I'm going to
go get extra help and sureenough, we're getting down to it
.
But my point is you get secondopinions for doctors and things
like that.
You should get second opinionsabout your business.
You should get second opinions.
(23:14):
A friend can tell you what theythink.
That would be your targetmarket.
That's awesome.
Maybe it's a mentor you have inyour life, maybe it's another
business owner that you know, that would be fantastic.
Or a business coach like me whocan give you expert opinion,
get you moving and stop allthese shenanigans Like you have
to stop the shenanigans.
(23:34):
You are creating a madness foryourself by wallowing in all of
this and not setting boundaries.
If you are a parent, or even ifyou're a pet parent, you set
boundaries.
You don't let your dog just runin the road in front of cars.
You say, no, you have to stayinside.
Maybe some people have used tohave invisible fence.
Now there's there's likecollars that you can do with,
(23:54):
like Bluetooth.
They're amazing to keep yourdog in a certain area.
You know we have boundaries, wehave fences in our yard.
You have to do this foryourself.
For some reason, all of ussometimes think, myself included
, we don't need boundariesbecause we have an ego and we're
like we can do everything andwe'll figure it out.
(24:15):
But are you?
But are you figuring it out?
Are you actually figuring itout?
Are you getting past thebottleneck?
So give yourself a deadlineDeadlines, work Tomorrow by 6 pm
.
Whatever is there is what I'mgoing to go with.
Is it good enough?
If not, I'm going to outsourcehelp or I'm going to get a coach
or somebody who's good at thisto actually look at it.
Give me another opinion.
Give me confirmation that I'mdoing this right.
(24:37):
Help me with the order ofthings I should be doing.
Help me with what I should bedoing with my tech, or how my
website should look or whateverit is my pricing, my product, my
service, packaging, how Ishould sell it, where I should
show up.
Should I start a podcast?
Should I not start?
Please tell me right now thatyou're not going to sit here and
ponder whether you should starta podcast or not.
If you've been thinking about itfor like a year, like reach out
(25:02):
, let's talk about it.
I'll tell you the truth, basedon your life situation and what
your business is, whether Ithink it could be a great
podcast or not, and how hard oreasy it will be for you, based
on this season of your life.
You have to put boundaries onyourself.
So you're going to put a timeboundary or you're going to get
help.
That's what you're doing.
That's step three.
Okay, so let's go through thesteps, because y'all have
memorized this already, right?
So number one was breathe and goback to your mission.
(25:24):
Number two was truly identifythe bottlenecks, call them out.
We are going to speak theirname, whatever they are.
And number three is you'regoing to give yourself a
boundary.
You're going to stop doingthese things by a certain time.
By a certain time.
(25:45):
And if you can't say that thisis good enough by the time frame
ends and you can't still goforward, then you have to
promise me you will reach outand get help.
You will either hire someone onFiverr or Upwork if it's
graphics, if it's whatever to doit for you, or ask a friend or
ask in the group, or you'll hirea coach like me who can help
you figure out and discern whatyou should do.
If it is good enough, it mayactually be good enough to go on
right now.
A lot of times y'all it is.
A lot of times it is when Imeet with clients I'm like, yeah
(26:08):
, that's actually good enoughright now.
Let's go.
It's great, it's cute.
It may not be your vision ofperfect, but I don't know what
your vision is.
All I know is I'm seeing it andit looks good.
Let's go.
And then we can be refining andtweaking over the coming weeks
and months.
Right, if this is, you makesure you reach out.
By the way, if you scroll downin the show notes below, there's
(26:28):
a link.
We can jump on a quick Zoomcall and I can just talk to you
for a minute just to like kindof identify the bottleneck for
you and just kind of talk youthrough it for a second to see
you know, okay, these are youroptions.
And then we could have aone-on-one coaching call after
that, right, if you want to.
So that's what I'm saying.
It's that easy.
It's that easy, but y'all makeit hard, and I do it too.
(26:49):
So when I say y'all, I mean metoo.
I make it hard on myself too.
I've had to get plenty of help.
I've had to get plenty ofsecond opinions.
I've had to have other peoplelook at my stuff and help me and
stop me and stop me from my ownmadness.
Right, and the same is for you.
So again, number one I'm sayingthem again because I don't know
what you're doing and you maynot be writing them down.
We're going to breathe in andbreathe out and we're gonna go
(27:11):
back to our mission.
Okay, you can remember thatwith the B breathe back to
mission.
Number two identify thebottlenecks.
So I, number two, is I back toyou know, identify the
bottlenecks.
Number three is to giveyourself a deadline.
We're going to set boundaries, boundaries, boundaries on when
you end and you're going to stopdoing it and you're going to
get help Either way after thatif you can't fix it by the
(27:33):
boundary, then you're going toget help, whatever that means
for you to get help.
Okay, so actually it's anacronym B-I-B.
Let's do that Breathe, then Iis identify the bottlenecks.
Actually it could be another Bfor bottleneck, it could be
B-B-B, it could be B-B-B, butwe'll do breathe, identify the
bottlenecks, we'll do I and thenwe'll do B, which is boundaries
(27:55):
, setting boundaries and thengetting help.
So B-I-B.
I hope you remember that.
I hope this helps you.
No more overwhelm, no moreletting yourself wallow in this
misery.
It's not fun and it's not goodfor your business.
It's not good for you mentally.
