(04:13):
Actually A lot of my stuff isvery lighthearted, but today
it's serious.
But I want it to be somethingof encouragement to you and to
help you see that you can makeit through.
I know a lot of you are dealingwith chronic illnesses and I
don't know what it is for you.
Maybe you have some type ofautoimmune, maybe you have some

(04:35):
type of cancer, maybe you justhave some type of chronic
illness that's going on.
Maybe it's hereditary, maybeit's something you caught, maybe
you've been sick a while.
Whatever it is, I want toencourage you today that you get
to still pursue your dream andyou can still make a difference
in this world through yourbusiness, even with all of that
going on.
I'm going to give you threecoping mechanisms today because

(04:57):
I think they will totally helpyou, and I want to start out by
saying that you know I've gotsome type of autoimmune going on
.
That has happened since COVIDand when I got it in 2022.
And it's been crazy trying tonavigate all of that while
running a business and having afamily and having personal time

(05:20):
and and living my life just withnavigating this.
And I can only imagine for someof you, I've had friends that
have gone through cancertreatments and then recurring
cancer and then just all sortsof things and my heart just goes
out to you.
It really does.
My heart goes out to you todaybecause I know it can be hard

(05:41):
trying to make money, trying todo something that makes you feel
fulfilled, trying to have anoutlet, a creative outlet all
your own.
So you don't have to thinkabout that.
Maybe you have something goingon or you're trying to figure
something out or dealing withfamily issues and things like
that it can be.

(06:07):
And just a little bit ofbackstory.
Some of you who have workedwith me in my programs already
know the story, but I just wantto share for those of you that
are fairly new to, just so youare aware that obviously I
stated I got some type ofautoimmune after COVID and it
happened immediately, withinabout three weeks actually, and
it was after actual COVID.
I know everyone asks me is itfrom the vaccine?
I did get vaccinated prior tothat, the year before, and I was

(06:31):
fine and I had had COVID theyear before.
So I got it like twoValentine's Days in a row.
It was crazy.
And so, anyways, I got itFebruary 2022.
And then by March, things wereweird with my muscles and all
this stuff was going on.
Long story short, I'd been toneurologists, rheumatologists

(06:52):
everyone's trying to figure itout and I found out that I had
adrenal insufficiency in thebeginning.
That had gone on for almost twoyears and I didn't know why I
didn't have energy to walk.
I, you know, worked out myentire adult life, from like 18
and on.
I've always been a member of agym.
I worked out six days a weekdoing fun things like F45,
orange Theory, everything,everything.

(07:15):
Never had any problems, neverreally been sick I mean hardly
ever sick in my life and afterthis, some weird stuff starting
happening with my muscles.
Anyways, I had adrenalinsufficiency, so something
happened to my adrenal glands.
I had gone to Mayo Clinic, finally, and they had run some
labs, not knowing what they weregoing to find.

(07:37):
They were just like didn'treally think anything was super
wrong with me.
It was kind of bizarre.
I was getting kind of what'sthe word?
Dismissed a little bit becauseI looked totally healthy and I
don't know weird stuff was goingon.
That was kind of intangible, like I can't explain it all.

(07:57):
Anyways, they ran, ran somelabs and found out I had
basically zero cortisol.
I had like 0.4.
And y'all have heard all aboutcortisol right now, right In the
health industry, everyone talksabout high cortisol equals high
stress and everyone's got ithigh and mine was 0.4.
So not good.
And I started a whole treatmentfor six months and recovered

(08:18):
from that.
But in the meantime I knew I'velike I still got joint pain, I
have weird things going on.
I'm not feeling right but likementally I feel good, if that
makes any sense.
Mentally I have felt good.
I didn't feel like it was in abrain fog or anything like that,
just something with my body wasweird going on and I kept going

(08:39):
to the rheumatologist and I'mlike something is wrong.
My joints are weird.
I still can't really work out.
I can walk but I can't reallylift any weights, which was
bizarre.
Again, I was doing a bazillionpush-ups before all this started
and trying to do pull-ups andall the stuff, anyways.
And my rheumatologist hadrecently, like I guess maybe

(09:02):
about a year ago, said whateverautoimmune this is, it's going
to rear its head over time.
So for any of you that have hadan autoimmune that you haven't
really known which one it is, hesaid it will rear its head.
You will start getting moreclues.
And sure enough, we startedgetting more clues.
I thought we were kind ofreally close, maybe six months
ago, maybe even a year ago.
I thought we were kind ofreally close, maybe six months

(09:23):
ago, maybe even a year ago.
I thought we were closer.
But come to find out, we thinkright now, as of recording this,
that it's in my spine and ithas then affected all the nerves
coming out of my neck all theway down to my lower back, and
so I have back pain and it's notankylosing spondylitis which a

(09:44):
lot of you may have heard of.
That's more of a fusing of yourvertebrae, but it is an axial
spondyloarthritis and I soundlike I know what I'm talking
about and I really don't, butit's like an axial, if anyone
knows about this.
Anyways, it's all in my spine,so it causes inflammation of my
spine.
That's the easiest way to stateit.

(10:06):
But it started now to give meheadaches because it's all up in
the back of my head and so it'slike getting worse.
But I'm on a biologic and so wejust started that.
They said it takes like threemonths to kick in.
Anyways, my point is thatthat's what I'm dealing with,
and every day my back hurtssomewhere, if not all of it.

(10:26):
I have mentally felt totallyfine until a little bit recently
.
My head is starting to feelheavy and I don't know if that's
from the biologic or that isfrom this.
I have no idea.
But I'm trying to cope, and somy heart goes out to all of you
who are trying to cope and dealwith life and have fun in life

(10:49):
and have this career.
As a business owner, I don'tknow how I would have had a
regular full-time job that I'vehad to go to with all of this
going on.
The amount of doctor'sappointments that I've been to
now I think I've seen is it sixneurologists, maybe seven now

(11:09):
rheumatologists?
What else have I been to?
I've been to Long COVID Clinic, because they call it Long COVID
, because it's just like I don'tfeel like I have Long COVID,
like I don't feel like I stillhave COVID, but just like
effects of COVID, I don't know, they kind of lump you into that.
I've talked to physicians attwo Long COVID clinics.

(11:32):
I've been to Mayo Clinic, Ihave been everywhere.
So if any of you have any ofthis weird autoimmune with your
spine, reach out to me.
Start with Kimberly Brock is myhandle on Instagram.
Reach out, I would love to knowwhat is going on with you.
But anyways, that is allhappening and in fact today I
don't feel great.

(11:52):
We were on a cruise last weekand I started not feeling well
and my back was hurting so badthat my clothes hurt.
And when my husband just liketouched my back a little bit,
like all the nerves were just sosensitive you couldn't touch me
because the around my rib cagewas so sensitive.
Very bizarre, very bizarre.
I don't have that now this week, but just don't feel super

(12:15):
great.
And I came up here to recordthis podcast episode and I'm
like this is sad.
Like I love recording thispodcast.
I mean I love it.
Every week I do it, but I'mlike pushing in here to the last
minute.
This is the day before this isto go live and I'm recording it
and this is what it is.
I mean, this is what it is.

(12:35):
I've had like five days to comeup here and record this.
I just haven't felt great enoughand I'm just kind of moving
around, going what am I doing?
Like what is happening rightnow, and the good news is I
still get to do this.
I still get to do this and it'sgoing to be fine.
Like I know there will be anend to all this craziness and

(12:55):
somehow, some way, I will find away to cope right.
Whatever medications, howevermany more rheumatologists and
neurologists or whoever I needto go to, like I will do it.
Like I don't back down.
I'm not going to be a personthat gives up.
I'll just keep going until Ican get the right kind of help,
and I feel like I do alreadyhave good help.

(13:17):
But here's my point For thoseof you that are going through it
I feel your pain and I want youto know that, but I also want
you to know that you can't giveup on this dream and that you
will do what you can when youcan.
And so today let's talk aboutit.
Let's talk about these threecoping mechanisms, because I
know they will help you and youcan do this.

(13:37):
If I can do this, you can dothis.
Okay, so the first copingmechanism that you are going to
put in place for how to manageyour business with a chronic
illness, whatever it is that youhave.
And and again, I am in no wayelevating anything I've gone
through above a lot of youwho've had it way worse, way,

(14:00):
way worse, with cancertreatments, and I've known
people that have had leukemiaand all sorts of things, and it
breaks my heart, it really does, and I would never say that mine
is any more than yours, thatmine is any more than yours, and

(14:21):
it's not, it's less Like.
I truly believe many of youhave had it way worse, way worse
.
I mean, I have felt good mostof the time, but just with
physical impairment with my backand stuff.
Anyways, number one, giveyourself some grace.
This is a season of life, whatever is going on in.
Maybe you have a disease, achronic illness.
You know, disease activity canbe very active, during certain

(14:44):
years even.
And to know that this is aseason and to give yourself some
grace for what you're goingthrough, a lot of us that are
business owners are verydetermined.
We're not going to stop, we'regoing to keep going.
We're not going to wallow inour misery.
I do not wallow in my misery.
I try not to complain ever, unless my husband asks me how
are you feeling?
And I'll say I have a headacheor my neck is hurting and end of

(15:06):
story.
We are not going to be sittinghere dwelling on it.
And sometimes, though, that ishard for people like us, because
we put pressure on ourselves todo and go and we want to
succeed and we want to besuccessful, right, but sometimes
we just have to go.
You know what I have?
To give myself some grace.

(15:26):
I can't record the podcastepisode today, or I can't do
this today, but maybe I cantomorrow.
And I think you have to havethat good attitude, because
that's what happened Yesterday.
I think.
I came up all three days here torecord this episode since
Monday.
Monday I came up.
I knew I could have recorded itSaturday or Sunday, but I just
didn't even come up here Monday,I think, I came up, and then I

(15:47):
was like I can't do it.
Yesterday I came up, I can't doit Today.
I was like I'm doing this, nowit's tomorrow.
This thing needs to go live.
So I have to get all thisuploaded today and do all of
this, but I've given myselfgrace.
I didn't beat myself upyesterday or the day before.
I just said I can't do it todayand I think we have to have
that attitude.
Because we beat ourselves up.

(16:07):
It almost gets you in this likeloop of misery.
It's like this vortex that wecan suck ourselves into.
Do not let your brain suck youinto a vortex.
In fact, y'all, I have a goodbook recommendation, a really
good book recommendation.
I actually listened to it onaudiobook.

(16:28):
It is called Don't BelieveEverything you Think.
I listened to it on Audible.
It was amazing.
There is the physical book andother books by this author,
joseph Nguyen.
Don't believe everything youthink.
It was like a two-hour audiobook.

(16:48):
It was amazing.
So my recommendation to y'alltoday don't believe everything
you think.
Get it on Audible if you wantto listen to it.
I thought it was so good.
I think we have to not give into our thoughts a lot of times,
because our thoughts will put usin that vortex of like I can't

(17:08):
do anything, I'm a victim, Ijust I'm going to opt out of
life and you cannot do that.
But at the same time, you haveto give yourself grace.
So I think it's learning how tobe calm when, if you don't feel
good or whatever's going onlike, you just have to learn to
be like, it's fine.
I'm just going to rest a littlebit, I'm going to get up, I'm

(17:29):
going to do other things, butI'm not going to wallow in my
misery, I'm not going to makeeveryone miserable around me.
I'm just going to give myselfgrace that maybe right now I
can't do that, I can't do thisor that I'll put it off.
One of my one of my clients sitsin one of my podcasting
programs.
You know she was worried abouther one of her podcast episodes

(17:51):
not being released on time oneof the weeks and she's fairly
new to podcasting and I said andhers had nothing to do with her
being sick, so this is probablya bad example, but she has
other stuff going on with herpodcast and I said you know what
?
You don't have to worry aboutit, you just don't need to
release it.
On the day that you normallyrelease it it's late, that's

(18:12):
fine.
Like, give yourself grace, it'sokay.
Nobody really cares, and that'sa horrible thing to say and I
hope that that did not come offrude and I hope to any of you
doesn't come off rude when I say, well, nobody really cares,
like I told myself that if Ican't get this out tomorrow,
nobody really cares.
They will be disappointed theones who like to listen to it
Thursday morning in their car onthe way to work, because I have

(18:34):
clients who tell me they dothat and that's awesome and such
a compliment.
But at the same time they willbe like, okay, her podcast
episode isn't out, and if it wasa week late, it was a week late
.
Like it's going to be okay, give yourself grace, it's not
that much pressure.
What we do is not like if ifour podcast doesn't get

(18:55):
delivered or website doesn't getupdated.
Now, if you had something thatyou told a client that you would
deliver, you need to try to doyour best to do that right.
But my point right now is ifthings can wait, things can wait
and give yourself some graceand don't beat yourself up,
because the mental side ofbeating yourself up actually

(19:15):
makes all of this worse and itdoesn't give you the permission
to relax and heal, because thenyou're on edge, because you're
so mad at yourself and you'reyour worst enemy and you're
beating yourself up.
You have to just give yourselfgrace and say this is the season
that I'm going through andthat's okay.
And then that's the big pictureis this is the season.

(19:37):
But then also the smallerpicture of, like today, like I
can't do what I wanted to do IfI wanted to record a podcast
episode.
It's okay if that's late, thatis not the end of the world,
okay, or your website isn'tupdated or you haven't figured
out some kind of technology.
So give yourself grace.
Please tell yourself that youwill give yourself grace, just

(19:58):
like you would give a friendgrace.
Give yourself grace during thistime and realize that it's a
season.
So that's number one, yourcoping mechanism.
Number two hire out and delegateas needed.
If your business requires youto have stuff that needs to get
done Like when I had my onlineboutiques.
Like stuff had to get shipped,we had to respond to customers

(20:22):
that were asking about theirorder or wanted to place an
order, so I had to start gettinghelp right Now.
I wasn't sick at the time.
It was because I had threechildren at home and everything
else going on and two businesses, and so I had to delegate.
You can delegate personally, which is step one.
Anything personal you candelegate Grocery shopping.
Get on Instacart, yard peoplepool people, babysitters,

(20:46):
whatever it is, organizers tohelp you organize your inventory
, I don't know what it is.
Delegate and get people to helpyou as needed.
Luckily for my business now thiscoaching business I can run it
very much myself.
I mean, I have things that Ihire out and I could get people
to do more, but really a lot ofthis.
If I just feel a little bitgood enough each day, I can get

(21:07):
everything done that I need todo.
So for me it's not like I haveto do.
You know I have to outsourceanything major right now.
Now, if I was doing a lot ofvideos or things like that, I
would definitely have tooutsource all editing and do all
that.
So I would have to do it andluckily now, with me knowing how
to edit my own podcast, it'sreally not that hard.

(21:28):
So as long as I just feel goodfor a little while, I can get
all that done.
But you have to delegate andhire out as needed.
Again, step one is personally.
Step two is within yourbusiness.
If you need someone to help youship products and do things
like that or work on yourwebsite, then you can do that,
but you should be delegating asneeded right now again, because

(21:49):
this is a season and yourillness may take a turn for the
better here coming up.
Your illness may take a turnfor the better here coming up,
and I'm very optimistic thatmine will, once we find the
right medication.
So I know it's just a season.
So, number one, I've givenmyself grace.
Number two I've hired out whenI needed to, and that's what you
need to do as well.
Okay.

(22:10):
So, number one, give yourselfgrace.
Two, hire out and delegate asneeded.
Number three focus on helpingpeople the best you can when you
can.
Focus on helping people thebest you can when you can.
So when you are showing up tohelp someone, maybe you've got a
coaching call, maybe you'redealing with a client, helping

(22:30):
them figure out their order, doing a customer service call,
whatever it may be, you be thebest that you can be at that
time.
You are here to help people.
You are here to make adifference in people's lives
with your business.
That's what you set out to dowhen you did this right.
This wasn't just some randobusiness that you're starting.

(22:53):
It's actually something fromyour soul that you wanted to
help people with and you wantedto make a difference.
Maybe it's to bring more joy totheir life, make them feel
better about themselves, havebetter relationships, look
better, feel better, have betterfitness.
Whatever it is that you do,again, you could make candles or
sell jewelry and just makepeople happy.
You set out to make adifference for people with that

(23:15):
because you knew how much itmeant to you.
You know how happy it makes you, you know how it's changed your
life.
So that's what you're doing forother people.
So remember that when you dofeel good enough or when you do
have to deal with a client, evenwhen you're not feeling good
that you do the best you can do.
Right then Okay, when you canbe the best that you can for

(23:43):
your people, don't just be therewallowing in your misery and
being like I am not feeling goodand not giving them the service
that they deserve.
I've been on coaching calls.
I've been on group coachingcalls where I have not felt that
great, but you can bet that I'mgoing to have a little caffeine
before it started and I'm goingto put my makeup on and I am

(24:06):
showing up to help my people andwhat's amazing is I'm usually
on a high when that's happeningNow.
When I'm done, I may collapseand be like, okay, you know, my
head is hurting or my back'shurting or whatever's going on,
and that's fine.
But that that hour that I waswith them, I was helping to the

(24:26):
best of my ability and I washoping that they couldn't tell
that I'm any different than anyother day.
And that's what I want you toremember is that when you show
up for your people, you show upand that's hard right, because
you're like, but I don't feelgood, I know, but this is what

(24:48):
you do for your people.
You show up to be the best youcan be when you can.
Okay.
Now, if you have to tell themlike I'm not feeling my best
today, but I'm on great, tellthem that and I'm sure they'll
give you grace.
I don't think it's somethingyou need to say all the time,
especially if they know you havea chronic illness.

(25:10):
Most people are very kind andwill give you grace, but the
thing is we don't want thishurting your business where
people say you know what, Ithink I need to go somewhere
else, I think I need to hiresomebody else, I need to order
from somebody else.
We don't want that everhappening.
We want you to keep thisrolling along through whatever
you're going through, becausethere is going to be an end in

(25:31):
sight.
Things will get better.
We have to hope that thingswill get better, right, because
we're doing things to get better.
We're not wallowing in this andwe're not just letting it
happen.
We are taking whatever measureswe need to take, whatever
doctors, whatever tests, whatever it gets tiring.
It's tiring to be like that, but you can't ever be that
person that's just like oh no,I'm just gonna live with this

(25:57):
forever and never do anything.
Now some of you may be saying Iactually have gone through
everything and I'm going to haveto live with it.
Okay, so that's the season thatyou're in.
It can still change.
It can still change and getbetter.
I think we have to have thisattitude, or maybe we just don't
need a business right now.

(26:19):
If we're not going to have thatattitude and I don't think you
want that I don't think youdon't want a business.
Now, some of you, it may betrue.
Maybe you need to close yourbusiness for a while, maybe you
need to put it on pause, and Ithink people would give you
grace if you said, for the nextsix months.
We are regrouping.
Just know that it does hurtyour business in some way

(26:39):
because you kind of have toregain that momentum after, but
you may have to do that.
I hope that that's a last resort.
What I hope is that you cangive yourself grace enough so
that you can you can show upwhen you can show up, that you
can delegate and keep this ballrolling and keep the momentum
rolling while you may not feelyour best, but when you do show

(26:59):
up, that you show up as best youcan when you can, so that you
can keep the momentum of yourbusiness going, keep it rolling
so that when you do feel better, then things can still keep
moving.
We're not starting from zero,we're not backing way up.
Does that make sense?
So listen, my friends, mostpeople at some points in their

(27:27):
life go through some kind ofphysical season where they don't
feel great.
Maybe they have something goingon, and maybe it's not even
with a chronic illness, maybeit's a personal situation.
So everyone is going to gothrough that season and all of

(27:47):
these things apply.
So, no matter what you're goingthrough today, if you're saying,
well, I don't have any kind ofchronic illness and I'm healthy
and fine, don't have any kind ofchronic illness and I'm healthy
and fine.
Know that your day will come, even if it's short term, even if
it's you get COVID that youhave for a long time, or you get
the flu or you get pneumonia oryou get something that like

(28:08):
drags you out.
Remember to give yourself grace, remember to delegate as you
can and remember to show up thebest you can when you can,
because I believe that when wedo these three things, we keep
the momentum going in ourbusiness, or we at least
maintain what we're doing tokeep the ball rolling, so that
when things get better, we'renot so far behind the eight ball

(28:32):
, we are still rolling along.
Does that make sense?
That's what I'm doing, becauseI know God's going to take care
of me.
I'm going to figure out somekind of way, whether it be with
medication or whatever, and itmay take time, and I'm going to
have good days and bad days, hopefully a lot more good days
ahead.

(28:53):
But this is our dream, this iswhat we want to be doing.
We want to be helping peoplethrough our business, and so we
have to focus on the positivesand focus on hope and focus on
helping those people that we setout to serve, and remember that
our businesses are such a giftand this is such a blast that we
get to do this that you have tokeep all that in front of your

(29:15):
mind and when you do that, itactually gives you hope and it
gives you a more purposeful lifethrough your business, instead
of wallowing in any misery thatyou may be going through.
Okay, what a gift that you getto be a business owner and you
get to do this.
It's such an honor.
So that's it.
Y'all know I'm here If you needhelp with anything.
Yeah, even though I'm goingthrough stuff, I schedule all my

(29:40):
coaching calls and everythingaround my schedule that works
for me when I feel my best, andthe good news is I'm sure I'll
be fine in like a week or so,but I've just kind of had some
weird stuff going on.
But I hope and I don't feelthat it's affected my clients in
any way.
I'm still showing up for themand I want to show up for you.
