systems sabotaging femalefounders, and I'm sharing how to
rebuild them so they don't runyou into the ground.

the price I paid for beingnimble, for being able to move

quickly, to make creativedecisions on the fly, to be able
to pursue opportunities thatwere hot in the moment. It turns
out, it was the cost of burnout.
My team kept coming to me foranswers, but I was changing
direction so fast, I didn't haveanswers to give them. And in
addition, my calendar was fullof check ins approvals and quick

questions, but there was notraction. And then I realized I
wasn't just in a broken system.
I was the broken system. Thereit is, and I'm not alone.
According to McKinsey's women inthe workplace report, 43% of
women in leadership roles reportbeing burned out, compared to
31% of men. Now gender aside,men or women, those percentages
(02:14):
are really high, and that's notpersonal failure. That's
systemic breakdown. If that manypeople are burned out, something
is just not quite right, andit's not all on the individuals
that are experiencing theburnout. Having been a survivor
of three rounds of burnout in mycareer, I started to map my
patterns, and what emerged werethree invisible, but freaking
(02:38):
deadly systems that smart,capable women fall into so let's
meet these systems. Call themarchetypes, if you will. These
are ways of being that we asleaders, and especially women in
leadership, are behaving that wesometimes don't even realize
we're doing.
Here we go. Hereare your three archetypal
(02:59):
systems when you're the systemthat might be causing you
breakdown, burnout and theinability to scale the way you'd
like to number one the herosystem. You're the go to person
for everything, and it feelsgreat until it doesn't.
Here arethe symptoms of the hero system.
(03:20):
Every big decision routesthrough you. You feel pulled in
to every fire. You may even bethe one starting some of those
fires. Your team loves you, butthey are overly dependent on
you, and there's a deeperemotional truth to the hero
system. You've built yourbusiness on trust in yourself,
which is great at the beginning,but now your identity is tangled
with your usefulness. Letting Gofeels like losing control, and

it feels like losing your value,and it sucks, because in order
to pass on that trust, therewill be times that your team
doesn't love you. There will betimes that they don't handle the
buyers well. There will be timesthat big decisions and balls are
dropped, and there's a deeperhidden cost to all of this. If
you're living in the herosystem, you're the escalation

path and the execution path. Soas you ask for more of yourself,
of your business, all thatexecution still goes through
you. You're not actually pushingit through to your team. Your
team starts to stagnate, becausethough they love you and look to
you for direction, at a certainpoint, they stop investing in
their own growth and their ownmomentum forward in their roles,
(04:35):
because you're the backstop foreverything, and your growth
stalls personally, and it alsostalls the growth of your
business, real world stories.
One of my clients ran a largemarketing agency. Her calendar
was triple booked. Her teamwould not make a move without
her green light. It was honestlylike a vice grip that she had
around the business. And when Iasked why she still handled

every approval, she said, If Idon't, we'll lose. Clients, and
perhaps not wrong, but we pusheda little further into it, and
what it turned out she wasreally afraid of was losing her
purpose, like if she wasn'tholding everything with that
tight grip, what would she bedoing? Where would she be
spending her time and energy? Sowe shifted her role from hero to

architect and built an AIdecision tree so that she could
follow through with what herteam was doing and make sure
that her clients were held andserviced well. And she finally
stepped back into leadership andfocused on her vision for what
the business could be in thefuture.
The solutions to the herosystem, if you're stuck in them,
is to move into an architectphase, to think of yourself as
(05:41):
the builder of your business,not the hero of your business.
And the solutions here arepermission based systems so that
there are stops along the wayfor your team to execute and you
feel like you still have qualitycontrol if necessary, we created
an AI supported knowledge basewith the frequently asked
(06:02):
questions she would get from herteam, so the team could refer to
this custom GPT to ask questionsand get answers as if they were
her. And then we also created ared, yellow, green light
delegation framework so thatalong the way, if tasks needed
to be moved on, she knew, andthe team knew when they
absolutely needed to stop withher and needed her approvals and

assistance, when they couldhandle some of it themselves, or
take it as far as they couldtake it in the yellow phase and
then turn to her or own itcompletely themselves in the
green light phase.
That's thehero system. So ask yourself,
are you beloved by your team,but holding too much you might
be a hero, but let's see if wecan turn you into an architect
(06:46):
so that you can grow yourbusiness. The next system that
might be slowing down yourgrowth is the hoarder system.
This is where everything's inyour head, your inbox, your
Google Drive, your yellownotepad sitting on your desk,
your text chain, all of the coreinformation that would really
give your team freedom to growand move is locked in with you.

Here's how you know, if youmight be in the hoarder system,
you recreate the same processconstantly. Your team is always
asking, where is that? You feeldisorganized, but you don't
trust others to do it right?
So here's the deeper emotionaltruth. Hiding in the hoarder
system, you fear that sharingeverything means losing your
edge. You believe that yourvalue is what only you know.

Yeah, if you're a need to knowbasis kind of person, you're
hoarding information, and it'sstopping your business from
growing, and there are a fewother hidden costs. Redundancy
becomes your status quo. Thatmeans that you're the one that's
gonna have to keep building itover and over and over again
because you're not empoweringyour people to do it. Onboarding
becomes incredibly slow, whichmeans that you might be
reluctant to bring on moreclients, because you're the one
(07:57):
that has to handle the processof bringing them on and team
morale dips.
So imagine you'rein the kitchen. I like to cook
with my kids. Imagine you're inthe kitchen, and you're the only
one with the recipe book, sothere may be ingredients to
build some fabulous meal. I'mnot really obsessed with
lasagna, you guys, but for somereason it's always a great

metaphor. So imagine you'retrying to make a lasagna. You
have everything laid out, andyou're the only one with the
recipe book. That means thateveryone that works with you or
for you is really just anextension of you, or an extra
set of hands with no brainattached. They don't actually
learn how to make a betterlasagna. They don't learn how to
(08:39):
make a lasagna at all, becauseall of the information resides
with you.
Let your people readthe recipe book and learn how to
make the fabulous lasagna, andthen you can step out of the
kitchen and they can make it foryou. Okay, real world story for
you. This one rings a little tooclose at home, but I'm just
going to share it anyway. Emma,who is a creative founder of a
creative agency, had a massivedropbox folder labeled Do not
(09:00):
touch. Her team avoided it likea landmine. When we sat down,
she admitted she wasn't hoardingall of the information in the DO
NOT TOUCH folder. She was scaredthat somebody was going to mess
it up, that something would getdeleted, something would get
moved. What we did is we used AIto audit the folder. First of
all, we made a copy of thefolder so that it was usable. We

set up AI automation so thatinformation that she put into
hers could go into a communityfolder if it was relevant and
safe for her to share it. Andthen we used AI to audit and
organize her processes intosearchable, shared SOPs in a
hub, and her stress dropped. Allthose lasagna recipes started to
get shared. Her team feltempowered, and she finally
stopped being the secret keeper.

Doesn't it sound like Icontinued to build SOPs for my
team and 2025 has been a bigyear of revisiting what I had
done before and what I'm doing.
Now, especially with AI, to helpwith the process. So here's the
solution to the hoarder system.
Ai generated SOPs, centralizedsearchable systems and

documentation as a leadershipact. Sharing this information,
creating SOPs is part of beingan extraordinary leader. So just
take it on as a mindset. And ifany of this sounds familiar,

Here is the lastsystem. You may be any of the
three systems that we're talkingabout today, or you may bounce
around between them, dependingupon what your situation is. So
the last system is called theghostwriter system. You do the
thinking, the writing, theapproving, even when you have a
team. Here are some symptoms ofthe ghostwriter system. You

rewrite everything your teamsends you. And I mean rewrite,
not just like a little tweak.
Here, a word change. There, yourewrite it. You think to
yourself often, it's faster if Ijust do it, if you've thought
that or heard yourself say italoud, you're doing this more
than you know.
Please listen tothe system and look at how you
might be able to shift it. Itwill change your life. Another
(11:17):
symptom is your team is busy,but the results actually still
feel like your job. Here is thedeeper emotional truth with the
ghostwriter system, you're proudof your brand and your
standards, but deep down, youdon't fully trust others to
represent you, and thatrewriting and bottlenecking
everything with yourself is whatkeeps you safe, the hidden cost.

Here you become the single pointof failure. Like everything
stops with you. That podcastdoesn't go out your fault, the
emails don't go out on time,your fault. Everything stops
with you, your team, creativityflat lines because you're not
asking them to flex their mentalmuscles. You're doing it all for

them, and over time, you feelincreasingly resentful and
you're the one that's creatingthe situation that's causing it.
Real World story here I workwith the founder of a fashion
brand, and this founder spendsan incredible amount of time,
rewording, asking for reshoots,redoing everything creative
related to their brand. Theyhave been known to say, my voice
(12:33):
is our brand, nitpickingeverything that the team is
doing. This founder silenced theteam.
How did we fix it? Webuilt a brand voice style guide
with AI and trained the team touse a feedback framework with
this founder so that they couldstep into their brilliance. The
founder began using AI forfeedback, and the team began
(12:56):
using AI for feedback so theycould communicate more
specifically and clearly withone another. And finally, this
founder started to build sometrust in their team and focused
on the big stage, not thecomment bubbles.
So the solutionfor the ghostwriter system is
creating an AI assisted voiceguide so that team members could

actually write in the founder'svoice and create content that
was very close to what thefounder needed. We created
scalable feedback frameworks sothat they knew how to talk to
each other better, how tocommunicate and get what they
wanted from each other, and wecreated standards to align brand

and quality. We basically builtas best we could, an AI version
of this founder's creativeapproach, so that every time the
team members were building andcreating social creating images,
they would get as close aspossible using AI as a guide and
a co pilot, and then when thefounder was reviewing the
information, they were able tosee their needs, their creative

vision, reflected in that work.
And the amount of ghost writingreduced considerably.
So if youwant to stop ghostwriting,
hoarding or heroing your waythrough your business and take a

The hero needs to stop solvingeverything and start documenting
decisions. The hoarder needs tostop fighting systems and
information in their head andstart building visible ones. And

everything and start scaling hervoice. These archetypes are not

flaws, they are survivalstrategies, and they helped you
build your. Business. So thankthem for what they have been,
but now they are holding youback, and it is time to build
something different.
Accordingto Forbes, 75% of female
founders cite burnout as theirbiggest barrier to scale, not
lack of talent, not even lack offunding. It is burnout. You

don't need to work harder. Youneed to work differently, and
this is totally within yourcapability. So this week, pick
your most prominent archetype,the hero, the hoarder, the
ghostwriter. Which one are youreally spending the most time
in? And identify one recurringpattern that's draining you.
Then use AI to create atemplate, a process, a framework

that will start breaking thatcycle. You are not broken, but
your systems might be. And whenyou change the system,
everything changes.
