Today's story in the Bible is about Jonah. Today we are going to experience three things - denial, repentance and God’s rescuing power. So get out your fishing rods, tackle box and life jackets for this crazy cruise.

Every parent wants their child to have fun, learn, and grow more in the Bible. However, time is limited. Have you ever asked: “What can I do to grow my child’s faith?” “How can I connect with my child?” “What about the difficult topics of stress, loss, and anxiety?” This podcast connects laughter and the Bible. It provides starter questions at the end of every episode, a soft opening to begin those discussions. It resources parents ways to connect with their children where they are.

An interactive retelling of the greatest stories in the Bible.  Take a journey with your kids and benefit from the parenting next steps after each show. These are "Short" stories to be used anywhere; in the car, dinner table, bedtime or wherever you want, with me "Schertz."

cruise.

God (00:44):
Jonah Jonah to the people of Nineveh you
must go for they have turnedaway from me.

Jonah (01:02):
Nope, no, not. Not gonna happen. Thank you for choosing
me. However.

God (01:09):
Oh, really?

Jonah (01:11):
Have you seen these people? Have you heard them
speak? Did you know that theydon't clip their toenails? I
heard they drink seven up. Yeah, not Sprite? Nope. Did I mention
they attacked my home?

Narrator (01:25):
Jonah was a prophet of God. What is a prophet? A
prophet was a person who sharedGod's messages to the people.

Jonah (01:35):
I'm leaving. You want me to go to Nineveh? I'm going the
opposite way. I hear the Bahamasare nice this time of year.

Narrator (01:42):
Jonah, you didn't go to the Bahamas?

Jonah (01:46):
Well, I'll just go to Tarshish.

Narrator (01:48):
Jonah absolutely positively wasn't didn't want to
go to New and share God'smessage. So he jumped on a boat
in Java and sailed in theopposite direction. In fact,
Tarshish was the most remoteplace he could find and was
triple the distance from Joppa.
Then Nineveh some would say hewas in denial of his calling.

(02:11):
Denial of God's messagetransforming the Ninevites and
more. I think Jonah was dealingwith something deeper

Jonah (02:21):
peace and will almost quiet if you can remove the word
creaking wind blowing rats onthe floor. And you got a nice
peaceful I'm just going to

Narrator (02:48):
it was wonderful.
Jonah was sawing some logs orsleeping in the ship. However,
nothing wonderful was happeningout on the deck of the ship with
the sailors.

Sailors (03:01):
Oh, what's happening?
I don't know what happened. Itwas a red sky last night. Don't
this morning.
Oh,Let's lighten the ship. Maybe we
are too heavy. Start throwingeverything off.

Narrator (03:17):
And they did. Did I mention that Jonah was asleep
through this whole craziness. Hemust have been dreaming
something good. He needed thecaptain of the ship to run down
and wake him up.

Captain (03:34):
Are you crazy man? How can you sleep during the time
like this? Get up man and prayto your God. Maybe he will have
mercy on us and save us fromthis crazy storm.

Jonah (03:51):
What happened? Huh? Say what now?

Narrator (03:56):
Oh, Jonah was in a tough spot. The same God who
created the world, made him aprophet and wanted him to share
his message was the same one hewas running from now. Jonah now
had to talk to him after he wasrunning away. Talk about awk or
Jonah knew at that moment whatwas happening. He knew what must

(04:20):
be done. So gathered all thesailors because he had a play.

Jonah (04:27):
Hey, guys, I know it's crazy weather out here. The rain
thunder and cows flying. Wishyou didn't have to do this. But
you need to throw me off theboat.

Sailors (04:39):
What are you joking during this storm? We may die.

Jonah (04:43):
Listen, my God is the God who sent this crazy storm upon
us. If you throw me off, it willend.

Narrator (04:51):
The Bible mentions the sailors rolled some game dice. I
don't know if they playCandyland or monopoly. But they
agree either throw Jonah off orelse they want it survive.

Sailors (05:07):
Okay, Jonah, let's go 123

Narrator (05:20):
Jonah was correct. The moment he was thrown off the
boat and hit the Water Godstopped the storm. The sailors
were safe.

Sailors (05:30):
Next time before we give passage to someone, we need
to run a background check.
Hey, what's that? Jonah swim?
But don't swim to the boat andswim fast man towards somewhere

(05:51):
other than here. There's a giantfish coming straight out you.

Jonah (06:00):
God this is you bring it on.

Narrator (06:03):
With one gulp. The fish swallowed him up. It was
dark, smelly, and sadly hedidn't run into Geppetto on his
raft. Jonah lay there insilence. Have you sat in
silence? It's hard and sometimesboring. However, sometimes you
get this thinking. And that iswhat Jonah was doing. thinking.

(06:29):
Thinking about everything he haddone. He had I got Jonah was
sad. He knew God loved him. Sohe went from thinking to praying
he went to talk to God

God (06:55):
Jonah

Jonah (07:04):
I messed up God. I'm calling out to you for help.
Forgiveness. I turned from you.
I was alone but God welcomed meback. You are a loving God.

God (07:18):
Jonah I love you. And I have forgiven you.

Jonah (07:35):
thank you God. You are my rescuer. And you heard my
strength

Narrator (07:49):
suddenly the fish bit Jonah onto a beach. Jonah line
in the sand remembering hispurpose remembering who's he is?
He's stood up

Jonah (08:02):
what? There's sand in my pants and, and fish saliva in my
ears. And what's what's that?
What's that smell? It's me. I'malive. I'm alive. And I and I
stink. I'm here. I'm here. I'min Nineveh.

God (08:34):
Jonah. Now go, and be my message of hope to these people.

Narrator (08:45):
This time, Jonah, listen, he knew God was a loving
God. And he walked into Ninevehwith that message for them to
turn to God. Nineveh was a largecity and it took Jonah three
days to go through it. He camebefore the leaders and shared
God's message. The entire cityturned to God and were saved.

(09:08):
Later on God connected withJonah reminding him that he
loves everyone. Not just a feweven loves the end. Maybe
