Red, Green, Yellow and Blue…I have a colorful story today for you. This is part one of a four part series of how God used Joseph to exercise HIS rescuing POWER! Joseph gets a colorful gift, shares his dreams but it ends not as he planned.

Every parent wants their child to have fun, learn, and grow more in the Bible. However, time is limited. Have you ever asked: “What can I do to grow my child’s faith?” “How can I connect with my child?” “What about the difficult topics of stress, loss, and anxiety?” This podcast connects laughter and the Bible. It provides starter questions at the end of every episode, a soft opening to begin those discussions. It resources parents ways to connect with their children where they are.

An interactive retelling of the greatest stories in the Bible.  Take a journey with your kids and benefit from the parenting next steps after each show. These are "Short" stories to be used anywhere; in the car, dinner table, bedtime or wherever you want, with me Israel "Schertz."

Go deeper with reading scripture: Genesis 37

Follow up questions:

  1. What is a cool dream you've had before?
  2. How would you react if you were Joseph or his brothers?
  3. Have you ever been angry before toward someone? How did you handle that?

Israel* (00:45):
I want you to make a custom colorful coat for my
Joseph he's my favorite.

Narrator (00:51):
Israel gave Joseph this amazing, expensive and
custom coat. Did I mention thatJoseph was one of the youngest
sons of Israel 12 sons in total.
You heard me correct 12. Theyoungest was Benjamin, but he
was really young at this time, with Joseph being the favorite
son, the older 10 didn't likehim. In fact, the Bible said
they hated their 17 year oldbrother. It didn't help Joseph's

(01:14):
cause with his brothers when hestarted having dreams and then
shared them.
Okay, well, let's pause. Hatedby his brother's new coat
dreams. That's a lot already ina few sentences of the 10
Chapter story. Additionally, whyis a dream so important? Anytime
someone told me their dream, Ididn't hate them for it. Okay,

(01:37):
let's unpause and get back tothe story.

Joseph (01:41):
Check this out guys.
Last night I had a dream. Wewere gathering entire stocks of
grain up did you ever guess whathappened? My grains suddenly
stood up and yours gatheredaround mine and bowed down. Wow.

Narrator (02:01):
They didn't like it.
Do you have a younger brother orsister? You get annoyed at them.
Well, that was happening at anepic level. They were not going
to bow down to their youngerbrother

Israelites (02:12):
We think that is crazy! Correction, Joseph - You
are crazy bro. Never gonnahappen. You're not the oldest
dad won't ever let that happen.

Narrator (02:24):
They were correct.
Joseph had another dream. Thistime it was the Sun, Moon and 11
stars bowing down to them. Hisfather didn't like it and
scolded him for having thedreams.

Israelites (02:35):
Joseph, you can't believe everything you dream
about. Do you think that if youhave a dream that all of us are
throwing pies at each other.
That will happen? No. Because Idon't like pie.

Narrator (02:50):
Who doesn't like pie gesh! Well, sometime past and
Israel sent Joseph to be withhis brothers. All they took care
of the family sheep. Wait, what?
Dad is sending his favorite sonto the same brothers that hate
him far from home. Not a wisechoice.

Israelites (03:11):
Look, Joseph is coming. Let us throw him into
this bed.

Narrator (03:17):
When they saw him.
They immediately wanted to killhim. But Ruben, not the tasty
sandwich, tried to rescue himfrom the pit. He lost though.
Joseph arrived and they took hisawesome fancy colorful coat
threw him into the pit and thenhad some lunch. I wonder what
they ate? A knuckle sandwich?
punch? Or maybe some pudding?

(03:40):
The Bible doesn't exactly saybut the ate. After they ate. The
brothers saw something in thedistance that got them really
excited.

Israelites (03:50):
Is that a bird?
Flying camels? No, it's....

Narrator (03:54):
Merchants! Riding across the desert. These media
nights rode over to Joseph'sbrothers. They made a deal and
sold him for 20 shekels ofsilver or $175 today. They sold
him and then destroyed anamazing expensive, colorful and
may I add comfy coat. Wow! Sinand hate can cause us to do some

(04:19):
mean things.

Speaker (04:21):
Let's go slave. Off to Egypt.

Narrator (04:25):
Joseph went off to be sold as a slave in Egypt. And
his brothers thought they wererid of him for ever. The
brothers ran back and lied totheir father that Joseph was
attacked. Israel was sad. Josephwas a slave and the brothers
were happy for now. To becontinued.

(04:48):
You're not lost in the desertwith these questions. Question
one. What is a cool dream youhave had before? Question two.
