Narrator (00:19):
Welcome back to shorts with Schertz, a podcast where we
tell short Bible stories in afun and creative way. Today is
the epic conclusion of a threepart series. Let's catch you up.
In part one Moses was bornwelcomed into the very family
who wanted him dead, grew up asa prince of Egypt and then
became a fugitive, living inMidea. In part two, God calls

(00:43):
Moses back to Egypt to rescuethe Israelites. Pharaoh refused
a God sent a total of 10 plaguesupon his land. Pharaoh released
the Israelite slaves, but thenchanged his mind.

Pharoah (00:55):
Get the horses. Keep going, they will be our slaves
again or die.

Narrator (01:04):
People could hear the chariot wheels spinning and the
forces pushing through the sand.
They paniced and began running.

Israelites (01:10):
RUN! He's coming!

Narrator (01:15):
The panic increased when they came face to face,
it's a wide and deep red seatwith a vast sea in front of them
and Pharaohs army behind them.
What were they to do? Mosespeered across the Red Sea.

God (01:28):
Moses, Moses I am with You.
Hold out your staff and I willpart the waters of the sea.

Narrator (02:05):
suddenly, the Red Sea exploaded up with winds brought
across the water wind blewthroughout the night, while God
protected the Israelites with apillar of fire standing between
them and the advancing army.
Morning came and the Israelitesawoke to a pathway to the Red
Sea.

Moses (02:24):
Let's go people. God has saved us.

Israelites (02:28):
The ground it's, it's dry. This is impossible.

Narrator (02:34):
Well, nothing's impossible with God. 1000s of
Israelites crossed into the RedSea, led by Moses But Pharaoh
was hot on their heels.

Pharoah (02:46):
Whoa! The sea, it's not here anymore. There's a path
what is going on? Nevermind thatlet's follow them in they are
crazy. They will pay. Yeah.

Narrator (03:02):
Pharaoh and his army went into the Red Sea riding on
the same land the Israelites setfoot on feeling the same mist on
their faces. The Israelites werecompletely out of the Red Sea.
Pharaoh's army was still comingwith the water towering over
them. God closed the pathway.
Water came crashing down. Mosesand the Israelites were finally

(03:25):
free from slavery. With theIsraelites free Moses began
leading them in the direction oftheir promised land. They
traveled a month and a half. TheBible mentions they came to the
desert of sin. That's when thepeople broke down. The entire
community started grumbling andcomplaining.

Israelites (03:46):
We're so hungry.
We're gonna die! We were bettertaken care of in Egypt. Let's
turn around.

Narrator (03:56):
Throughout their journey every time they
complained, God answered. Heprovided food called manna,
which is described as bread fromheaven.

Israelites (04:06):
This bread is yummy, but now we're thirsty. Let's go
back to Egypt. At least wedidn't have to worry about
anything.

Narrator (04:15):
They must have forgotten about the whole
slavery thing. They wererelentless, but God was also
relentless. He continued to showhis love and miracles to them.
God directed Moses to hit a rockand sweet water would pour out.
Okay, let's pause there for amoment. Anyone else listening
thinks that was weird. A rock!seriously? Every time I've seen

(04:40):
inside a rock there's more rock.
Not water. Kind of reminds me ofGusher. Candy. Okay, anyways...
God took care of them. Eventhough they complained he took
care of them all the way to theDesert of Sinai. They set up
camp at the bottom of MountSinai clouds rolled in and
descended upon them. Thunder waslightning was seen after telling

(05:05):
the Israelites not to followhim. Moses climbed the mountain
to meet God. The voice of Godwas heard and the mountain
shook.

God (05:21):
I am the Lord your God and you are my people. Listen to my
commandments. When you followthem they will lead you on the
way.

Narrator (05:53):
God gave Moses a legendary 10 commandments from
the top of Mount Sinai. On twostone tablets. Moses was a beast
to carry these heavy rocks backdown to the people. What were
the commandments?
Let me share them here.
Commandment number one. There'sonly one God, which was the God
who rescued them from Egypt.

(06:16):
Commandment number two. Don'tbow down and worship any other
gods. So don't go making statuesand worship a lump of Earth.
Commandment number three. Alwayssay God's name with respect. Do
you like when people say yourname nicely? Exactly.
Commandment number four. Keepthe Sabbath day holy. Honor God

(06:39):
and rest from your week bytaking the time to worship him.
Commandment number five. Honormom and dad. Listen and obey
your parents even when it'shard.
Commandment number six don'tmurder. Obviously don't kill the
other people. Commandment numberseven. Love your spouse entirely

(07:00):
when you're married. Commandmentnumber eight. Don't steal. If
it's not yours, don't touch it.
Commandment number nine don'tlie. Lying is lying. If someone
says it's just a little whitelie, that is still a lie.
Commandment number 10. Don'twant or crave what is not yours.

(07:21):
Enjoy what you have and havebeen given.
With Moses sharing these 10commandments with the
Israelites. They promised toalways follow in worship the
true God. Life was good at thatmoment. Have you ever made
mistakes? Well, that's what theIsraelite people did as the time

(07:41):
went on. They made some moremistakes but God was there. God
loves them and continue to showhimself to them.
This concludes our three partsMoses series. As always, if you
enjoy listening, please share itand talk about it. Till next
time. Here's some questions thatyou could talk about. Question
number one. If you could eat atany restaurant, where would it

(08:04):
be? And what would you order?
Question number two? Have youever made mistakes? What were
they and how can you get better?
And question number three, whatwas the most challenging
commandment to keep and what'sthe easiest to keep?
I put the 10 commandments in theshow notes, checkout and review.

(08:28):
