We enter the second to last S2 episode. Joe is experience anime IRL at a local convention! Second one ever for him! Meanwhile, Sarah is venturing into the dark abyss of a dying coal mining town in Night in the Woods. Can she help Mae regain her motivation? Or at least help her play bass? All things are possible!

In Kimi No Todoke, we try to drag ourselves through the third quarter of season 2. Sawako gets a bunch of advice from everyone. Kurumi makes some key appearances to boost our mood. Then we get a not so satisfying “confession”, which mostly seems like setup to a real season finale climax. Joe’s hopes of a kiss are dashed. We’ll be lucky if they ever even hold hands.

(00:00):
Here we are again, watching Kiwi Nii Tadoke season two and things are slightly starting

(00:20):
to pick up.
Thankfully.
I'm your host Sarah joined by the wonderful Joe of Joe Joe.
The one and only Joe Joe Joe.
Yeah, not the Joe of Kiwi Nii Tadoke.
Hate that guy.
It sounds like you're like the king of France.

(00:42):
It has to be somebody.
Hey, your big deal.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It feels like a different show kind of.
Yeah, it's freaking depressing.
Whereas the first one is like, oh.
Um, but yeah, before we jump into our coverage of that, we'll kind of just catch up.

(01:09):
Joe, what have you been up to in the last week since our last episode?
I went to an anime convention yesterday.
It's like an anime convention ever.
Really?
Yeah, it was pretty good.
Yeah, I don't know.
Oh my God.
I mean, I go to academic conventions with those.
No, I imagine not.
I was dressing up.

(01:30):
Yeah, so it was good.
Um, DCME.
Going to Booth's favorite cosplays.
Uh, yeah, I mean, there's some good stuff.
A lot of warhammer people dressed up as warhammer.
Okay.
That was a pretty involved.
It's like it's weird to see what's popular.
I know.
I went, it was all Genshin Impact.

(01:53):
Oh my God.
Or something.
Yeah.
Here it's like just kind of, it's like not that it hasn't really cohered to like any
one specific thing.
I mean, it's just like the popular stuff that's kind of been popular for a while.
Yeah.
Noticing one stand out where I'm like, oh, this is the year of whatever.
Oh yeah.
I've definitely been where it's like, this is the year of Nezuko from Demon's
Player everywhere.

(02:14):
Oh yeah.
Um.
Yeah, no, no, like complete stand up.
Yeah, it was good, you know, the, the, when some boots saw some stuff.
It was pretty good.
Nice to buy anything.
Like plan out which day we'd go on.
So it's just like, we just kind of went on a day.
Yeah.
So it's like, we didn't really like go to any of the like meeting things or like

(02:36):
the presentation.
The panels.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The panels.
Not, not super interested in that, but you know, it's still, still fun to go.
I just go for the shopping.
I don't know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And you cosplayed.
I did.
Yeah.
Well, I just wore the impel down buggy thing I had before, you know,
low effort.
Apparently there was one other infill down buggy.
I saw that was running a movie.

(02:57):
That was pretty funny.
Nice. Nice.
Um.
That was good.
But yeah.
And then what else did I do?
I watched.
Hmm.
Did I, I didn't talk about, no, I talked about this last week, right?
That I watched both ghost and Michelle movies.
Yep.
Okay.
I am.
I'm not done with the secret blacksmith yet.
One more episode.
I haven't watched.

(03:18):
You just don't want it to be over.
I just don't want it to be over.
I just liked it because the Luke I think.
Yeah.
I mean, it's, it's like, I'm on the last episode.
He seems better.
He, I like him more now that I knew at the beginning.
He's just hot.
He's just a brat.

(03:39):
Um, his little like.
Minion.
Flunky sister apprentice.
Um, apprentice has a, her dumb hat.
So great.
The hat has made a reappearance.
Nice.
Yeah.
Otherwise.
Yeah.
I've watched anything else really.
Oh, I did.
I watched housing complex C.
Oh yeah.
What is that?
Short.

(04:01):
Four episode.
Let me look it up.
It was like a horror thing.
Oh God.
I remember it like being part of adult swim.
Oh,
to Nami block.
And I think maybe they helped with the production of it.
Um, yeah.
Yeah.
Production.
I G did the,
did the animation for it.
Um,
apparently it only aired on.

(04:23):
To Nami.
Oh,
interesting.
But horror.
I'll advise run of the series in Japan itself currently remains
a question.
So that's kind of interesting.
Yeah.
It was like a,
it was kind of like a horror thing.
It aired in October.
So it was supposed to be like a little spooky thing.
It was.
Not rated though.
Yeah.
It's like a,

(04:44):
it's like a five out of 10.
It's like a fun little short story kind of thing.
I guess.
Um,
Yeah.
I didn't really like captivate.
You know,
it wasn't really like that astounding or that wowing or that kind of thing.
But you know,
it's like a fun little thing.
It's short.
It's four episodes.
You could just watch it in like an hour and a half.
You know what I mean?
So it's like kind of hard for me to be like,
Oh,
this isn't worth your time because it's such a little time.

(05:05):
It's like,
it's like a little bit of a fun little thing.
Yeah.
That's true.
But you know, it's, it's like whatever.
That's all right.
Nice. Nice.
Um,
Yeah.
Did that.
I'll be going to an anime convention later today.
Wearing the first ever show Joe.
Apparel item.
That's right.
Uh, so hopefully.
All the folks are going to be like, you know,

(05:27):
what's that all about?
And I'll be like, Oh, let me whip out this QR code.
And you can find out.
Um, I'm coming prepared.
I ain't messing around.
And then I'm going to like demolish my bank account by just buying
everything that I want.
Cause I have way more poster space now in my new place.
Um, yeah.

(05:49):
So let's see.
Oh wait, hold on.
I need to.
Sorry.
This is the thing I watched housing complex.
So he was by studio.
A Kotz ski.
Okay.
And it was the dub was done by production.
I G.
You said good.
People were going to be upset if you did not.
We live in a time when, uh,

(06:12):
industries hate things that are creative at all.
So I feel like taking the time to properly credit things should be
important.
Okay. Yeah.
That's true.
Um,
Especially because it's freaking.
God.
All of like us animation is just like.
Gone to hell because everything's being gutted.
Have you seen that?
There's like mass layoffs and stuff.

(06:34):
Oh,
isn't that just everything?
It does feel like it's everything.
Yeah.
Everything we love at least game industry,
anime industry.
Yeah.
Everything that like makes life fun.
Yeah.
It's like,
what if, um,
venture capital destroyed it for no reason?
Cool.
Good world we live in.
Yeah.
Oh man.

(06:55):
Anyway.
Anyways, let's see.
So I'll be doing that later today.
I've had,
I was going to go alone,
but I've got a co-workers joining me.
So that'll be fun because it'll be both of theirs first,
I think,
and my convention.
Um,
Let's see.
I.

(07:16):
So it's been the second week that I've had my new dog,
lemon.
And she's doing.
Really good.
Getting along with everyone.
Uh,
even took her to my mom's place and she got along with all the
dogs there.
And, um,
so I'm really excited that it seems like she's going to work out.

(07:37):
And, um, yeah.
So there hasn't been any issues other than the first jail break,
but.
Um,
So yeah, happy about that.
Uh, let's see.
We've got Wallace and grommet coming to walk about me golf next,
or I guess this coming Thursday,
the 25th of July.
So excited for that.

(07:58):
Um,
Oh, okay.
You, you saw this.
I, I.
Now that I'm settled in my new place,
I want to get back to streaming on Twitch some more.
And I was playing a new game.
Night in the woods.
And, um,
I haven't played it since the first stream because I think I want
to do it on stream just so I can have other people witness this
game.

(08:19):
With me.
Um,
Cause I just, I was like, Oh, it looks like a.
You know, cute, but maybe.
Eerie game,
but I'm learning.
A lot.
There's a lot darker, like emotional psychological themes to it.
And I,
only at the beginning I take it.
So I got to buckle up for.

(08:41):
Some trauma and stuff.
That's going to be revealed.
I feel like.
That game is really cool.
I thought that game like a long time ago.
Yeah.
It's, I love the art style.
It's so cute.
Replay it.
Yeah.
It's giving.
It kind of reminds me of oxen free.

(09:02):
With like the speech bubbles and kind of the.
To do.
Art and stuff.
Um,
Which I also need to finish playing.
Cause the second one came out, I think.
Um,
but yeah, I really enjoyed that.
Uh,
Love Island USA coming to an end this.
Today.
So I am sad about that.
But luckily big brother has started.

(09:25):
So at least I have some trash to.
Satiate.
My mead.
For mindless television.
Um,
I got something to do.
Yeah.
Uh, I think.
That's good.
That's probably watching.
You guys are.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's good.
That's probably watching.

(09:46):
You gun to.
Honestly.
Yeah.
Is it a bump?
Rough ride over there.
It's, you know,
G Gundam.
The premise is that there's a big, there's a big war.
No, there's a big war.
There's a big battle.
Gundam battle.
Where it's like a tournament style thing in every country.
Cause it's own mech.
And, um,
You know,
It's made in the nineties.
Not exactly the most racially sensitive.

(10:08):
But it's a little bit more.
It's like,
You know,
It's like a.
It's like a.
It's like a.
It's like a.
It's like a.
So yeah, you know, and it's also just kind of like,
It doesn't need to be 50 episodes, but it is 50 episodes or 49 or
whatever.
And boy.
It does not need to be.
But it's fine.
Okay.
Um,
Let's see.

(10:29):
And then, you know,
I have another.
And we can mention next week.
I'll go to that.
Oh wow.
Yeah.
So.
Yeah.
I think I like that.
I love that.
It's kind of the same.
There's a little person who plays it.
She's kind of a little hermit like me.
That's so hard for me to believe.
Well, like.
I like.

(10:50):
In now way.
Yes.
But she's, she plays.
She's like a little gamer.
She has.
She really like how to train your dragon.
And so she's found this like.
dragons and all this and she'll play from her computer.
And then if my brother is not using his, she'll log into a secondary account and

(11:12):
just play the game with herself with like two computers right next to each other.
Oh, wild.
I'm like, just gaming real hard.
Yes.
God dang girl.
Um, so hopefully, so she's, I don't know.
I feel like all my siblings are like not that interested in the world around them as

(11:35):
much as just like the comfort of being in a familiar space and doing, playing the
same crappy games.
Um, so I'm hoping she thinks this is cool and that she can kind of get into it.
Um, we'll see.
Uh, yeah.
So that's all we've been up to.

(11:55):
Yeah.
The scorching heat and the scorching summer.
God.
I, it's, it's terrible to think that because of climate change, it's going to
be worse every year.
This is the coolest summer we're ever going to have.
Don't say that to me.
Uh, uh, man.
I hope you enjoyed the coolest summer for the rest of your life.
Don't.

(12:16):
Oh, it's okay.
I'm sure there'll be some anomaly.
Um, oh my God.
Cause it's really bringing it down.
I get so angry when I'm outside.
Like I had to go to my sister's engagement party and I like was dressed up and
wearing makeup and I was like just angry because I was like, this son better

(12:38):
not fuck up my makeup.
I'm going to be so pissed and this and that.
And like, it's awful.
Yeah.
Rough.
It's like, I can't like I'm not like half of my soul is in slumber until
winter comes out and then I can fully be happy.
I like can't half of my soul is in slumber.

(13:00):
My hibernating.
Good vibes.
Yes.
I hate the summer so much.
So look, I got it.
Now I'm thinking about how mad I am that it's hot outside.
I've done it.
I've showered the mood.
Well, speaking of sourd moods.

(13:21):
Sssh.
Or.
It's in you.
Yeah.
I mean, it's getting.
Things are happening at least by the end of the batch of episodes.
Oh my God.
Finally, near the end of the season nails.
Pays.
I cannot.
What happened to my season one?
Kimi, it's an OK.

(13:41):
What happened?
Look what they did to my beautiful boy.
Dear God.
Anxed.
Adolescent angst.
It's not even.
It's not even early.
I don't even know what it is.
It's I don't know.
I just.
You know.
They just don't.

(14:02):
They had nothing in the tank.
I'm just they had nothing in the tank for the season.
I read the manga so I can see if it's if this is what's happening in the manga or not.
Or at least it's probably a dress much quicker in the manga.
I had like a horror moment at the end of this.
And then this three episodes.
Dear.
But let's just go through.
OK, OK, let's see.

(14:24):
Episode whatever.
Episode seven of season two is called Give Up Already.
Should we?
Should we?
Oh my God.
OK, everyone is prepping for the school festival.
They're behind schedule.
Both Kazehaya and Sawako have are like missing.

(14:45):
They're both ditching it today because it's the same day that everything happened.
Where you see is Kazehaya walking around aimlessly.
He asks him if Sawako or if he asked Sawako out and Kazehaya says he got rejected.
He explains to Ryu that he was just a bother to her after all.
Nearby, Karumi ears, Eaves drops on their conversation.
It's the next day.
Sawako is near the front of the school.

(15:05):
She turns the corner to see Karumi.
Sawako tells Karumi that she got rejected and Karumi tells her to stop acting like their friends.
You have a girl.
They can't even be rivals anymore.
Sawako asks if she can't be rivals because she got rejected.
And Karumi is like, no, it's because you aren't even putting up a fight.
Sawako tries to piece together what that means.
And Karumi gets even more angry and calls her dense.

(15:28):
Yeah, fucking get her.
Then she says that she hasn't been paying attention to Kazehaya at all, actually.
And she's the one that confessed her real feelings to Kazehaya.
So they can't be looked into the same categories because she actually tried and stuff.
And then she starts to tear up and runs off.
Yeah, it's interesting because they're like the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Whereas Karumi was so invested in Kazehaya and what he was doing and who he was.

(15:54):
But he wasn't into her.
And then with Sawako, it's like he's fully into her versus.
And I don't know.
Sawako is just in her own planet, but the.
They had quite a different experience of liking Kazehaya.
Yeah, I mean, I really feel like Karumi's idea of this was like they basically
have different approaches, right?

(16:15):
Or it's like Karumi's approach is to like.
Get around stuff and like try to make situations happen and that kind of thing.
And Sawako's approach is to be like.
Adorable and kind of helpless or whatever.
And then at this point, she realized like, oh, that's not an approach.
You're just like this.
Like you're you just are a huge wuss.
Yeah. And then she gets mad.
She's disappointed.
Also, I have the same reaction.

(16:35):
I am like, yes, I'm also disappointed.
Oh, it's the evening.
Sawako gets a text from Chizu to come over so they can make costumes for the festival.
At the school, some boys are trying to sneak their float off the property
to work on it after hours.
Pin catches them, but then it's like, actually, I don't care about this.
Y'all could just go whatever.
But then he sees Kazehaya and he's like, hey, man,

(16:56):
heard you were being a huge jerk to Sawako today by leading her on and then
rejecting her. And Kazehaya tries to correct him and says that he was the one
that got rejected. And pins like what?
And then saw her.
Then Kazehaya recounts his experience.
Then concludes that Kazehaya probably just did it wrong.
Then he tells him he's too caught up in his own crap and should just forget all
that stuff at Chizu's place.

(17:18):
A bunch of girls are trying to sew together outfits.
Sawako helps some girls realize that you have to pin the fabric on with the right
sides facing you.
You don't want to seem to be inside the fabric.
Yeah, you dummy.
On the outside.
Um.
Chizu gets up to get something and Sawako follows her out.

(17:38):
She thanks Chizu for yelling at her earlier.
Ioni comes into the hallway for some reason.
Sawako says it wasn't until them that there were people in her life that
actually liked her.
They're like, weren't her family, I guess.
Chizu feels much better and then goes and gets drinks for everyone.
While sewing, Sawako reflects on what Karumi said earlier and wonders if she

(17:58):
actually told Kazehaya her feelings or not.
The answer is no.
She died.
No, no problem.
But at least she's thinking about it.
God, it's the next day.
Sawako sees Karumi at school and she gives her the cold shoulder.
I mean, Karumi gives her the cold shoulder.
Kent shows up.
He's about to tell Sawako something important, but Ioni and Chizu stop him

(18:19):
and tell him that this is all his fault.
Kent's like, yeah, I know.
Anyway, Sawako, my bad for yesterday.
I think Kazehaya like actually likes you and he says this out loud and
everybody hears this and starts chattering.
Sawako says, no, wait, this is all a misunderstanding.
We've heard this before.
Else.
It's a different kind of like she says, right as Kazehaya and Ryu turns the

(18:43):
quarter, he has heard everything.
Sawako is about to say something to him when Joe shows up and starts talking
to Kazehaya and then he's like, why is everybody standing here?
Kazehaya is like, whatever, it's nothing.
And they just walk off.
Kent tries to tell Kazehaya something, but Ioni and Chizu drag him off
before he can.
OK, this is the part where as the boys walk off, Ryu tells Sawako,

(19:08):
look, I know I'm not one to talk, but you really gotta get better at communicating.
Oh, yeah, that's my next bullet point.
Oh my God, I'm like, how bad is it that he's telling you that?
It's funny when they drag Kent off because he what he says,
then he's like, why can't I clarify this?

(19:29):
Why can't I clarify the situation?
It's pretty bad.
Which like maybe you should have let him do that.
Joe asks us going on Kazehaya says, nothing.
They all start walking array.
Ryu stops and tells Sawako that while he's not one to talk,
she probably didn't communicate effectively back there.
Sawako's wonders to herself if she's just going to be passive forever.
Finally.
Yes, you're being too passive.

(19:50):
Yes, this is your fundamental problem.
Uh-huh.
Oh, it only took seven episodes to get here.
For real.
God.
Yeah, this is a very funny scene.
I like how Kent just says out loud and just like doesn't care.
I honestly, I like I honestly his face.
Oh my God, she hates him.

(20:12):
She hates this guy.
I was like one shot and like so wide and like it's aspirated.
It's good.
Let's see elsewhere.
Kent asks Ayane if he thinks he messed up or if she thinks he messed up
everything completely and she says obviously he thinks he messed up
everything and then she shakes him by the lapels.

(20:35):
He reiterates that he's mostly an honest guy.
And then Perumi shows up and tells them to move because they're blocking
the vending machine.
Kent is like, Oh, hey, Karumi, did anything happen after I told you about
Kazakai and Sawako?
And I honey, Jesus, get mad at him and accuse her of scheming.
Karumi says that she just told her off and like, why does it even matter?

(20:59):
Because she's a chicken who can't even like give the guy she likes
Valentine's Day chocolate.
And Ayane realizes that Karumi is the one that messed with Sawako on
Valentine's Day.
Karumi is like, yeah, but like so what? It only works.
I'm only able to mess with her because she isn't trying that hard.
If she was actually trying, I couldn't even do anything.
Kent's like, wait a minute, Karumi, do you also like Kazahaya?

(21:21):
And she's like, yeah, dude.
And he goes, hmm, hmm.
OK, so if I started dating Sawako, that would be like good for you, I guess.
And then she turns and slaps him and tells him to stay out of it.
And Karumi says that she refuses to think she lost to somebody as pathetic
as Sawako is being right now.
And then she runs off.

(21:42):
Yep.
Kent says Sawako likes Kazahaya then.
Or Kent asks if Sawako likes Kazahaya.
She's like, OK, so she likes him, right?
And Ayane tells him to mind his own business.
And all of this being a nice guy is just him being a narcissist.
Ever since he's inserted himself, it's made everything worse.

(22:03):
And he should just go away.
Then we cut to Sawako in the library.
She thinks to herself that she wasn't paying attention to Kazahaya after all,
and hasn't taken the initiative on anything ever of all time as we cut to credits.
Yeah, I like my thoughts exactly, Ayane.
You tell him.
Here's the here's the thing.
Here's the problem.
This is the thing that I've been caught up in, right?

(22:24):
It's like, on one hand, I like Kent.
I mean, this is correct, right?
Like, she's right that it's like, oh, you're just like doing this
because you're like, you're kind of bored.
You're kind of just like only thinking of yourself.
You're kind of just like wanting to be entertained.
Like all that stuff is true.
The thing is, is I end up like it's hard for me to be on Ayane's side here

(22:45):
because like as a story, like as the story so far, Kent is the only one
making the story go.
So it's like, I want to like Kent because he's the only one giving this story
any forward momentum at all.
And to be like, have someone yell at him for giving the story forward
momentum is just like, Ayane, if we got what you wanted, this would be
the most boring show ever.
You know what I mean?
Like.

(23:06):
Well, she's I want to I think like wanting Sawakata to reach these things
of her own. Yeah.
Doing organic.
But she isn't.
But she isn't doing that.
And she hasn't like it's been months.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Like I don't understand like.
Ayane kind of gets on her high horse here, but it's also like, listen, dog,

(23:28):
like your approach was not working either at all.
Like, yeah, I mean, I guess Kent made the situation worse, but it's also like
he also made the situation move.
Yeah.
And so I end up like liking that.
I like as an audience member, I like him.
Well, he's, yeah, doing the work that the rest of us have been just like

(23:50):
agonizing over like why, you know, these making things happen for our sake.
Yeah, he's making things happen.
But it's like it's hard for me to like stand there and share for Ayane when
I'm just like, but you haven't done anything.
You're like, you barely been in this season.
You haven't done anything.
She changed her hair.
I mean, she is like this.
Yeah.

(24:10):
It's weird.
Like the thing when he's like, oh, Karumi, if I did it,
it's all going to be good for you.
That's like a weird.
I don't really get why he's saying that.
Well, because this is a show Joe and that's such a like show Joe thing
where like the guy who likes the main girl and the girl who likes the main guy,
like try to collude to get what each of them wants.
And it never worked.
It's like a thing that happens a lot.

(24:32):
I see.
So he's like proposing that and she like shoots it down.
Yeah.
OK, that makes it because I didn't really get that because I'm like,
otherwise because like, I don't think Kent is actually after
Sawako in any meaningful way.
I thought he was just doing that because he's kind of bored.
So that was I thought that was weird.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
Like, let me help you get what you want and I'll get what I want as a result.

(24:57):
It also doesn't really like follow logically with anything he does next.
So I was just kind of confused.
Yeah.
Well, she she said no.
Oh, yeah.
She slapped him.
He slapped him.
It's very good.
This is a great Karumi episode.
Karumi owns.
I love her.
She's so good.
Yep.
This is what Sawako needs.
Sawako needs someone to get up there and be like, hey,

(25:19):
you're being passive and a loser and I hate you.
Maybe don't need to say I hate you.
But like, you know, got to tell her off.
Mm hmm.
She can't just be like the saddest, what is cat forever?
You know, like she has to you got to shake her a little bit.
Yep.
Anything else in episode seven?
And I think there's a moment with Penn where I was like,
he's not so bad, like, he's a nice guy in these episodes.

(25:44):
Yeah.
He's telling Kazai hi that he messed up.
Yeah.
Also, Kazai hi at the beginning, he was like walking around like a zombie.
Yeah.
Jesus.
And it is it is extremely funny for you to be like, listen, guys,
I this is not my wheelhouse, but even I know you guys are screwing this up.
Yeah.
And like embarrassingly bad ways.

(26:06):
Yeah.
Man, we get a few real things later.
That was delighted by.
Yeah, I guess.
OK.
Episode eight is called Reach.
We open on a flashback montage of previous events after we cut
afterwards, we cut to saw a go carrying books in the hall as Penn comes and talk to her.

(26:27):
He asks her about the festival progress, and it seems like they're back on schedule mostly.
Penn tells her that's great because they need to be better than everybody else.
And saw what go thinks that he made a bet with the other teachers.
Then he tells Sawako that cause hi is not as decent as she thinks.
And she should just forget him because he sucks.

(26:48):
They go into class.
Everybody is working on festival activities.
Both Sawako and Kazi high reflect on things Penn has told them.
We get more flashbacks as they think about what they feel towards each other.
And then we get a montage of festival prep as the OP plays.
I know it felt like end of the season kind of thing.

(27:09):
Yeah.
It was such a weird thing to happen because like what is the OP has to do with festival prep?
I know.
I know because normally that's like, last season did this too where there's like a few fakeouts
where it's like, OK, well, this feels like the last episode of the season.
Yeah, but like then they do the last they did the OP playing over like the end, right?

(27:33):
Yes.
At the end of New Year's.
It was an ending scene.
This is episode eight of 12.
I know.
I don't know.
And this doesn't even lead to anything like the montage just ends.
All right, anyway, here's some stuff that happens in the montage.
Tomo and Echo were making cookies and drinking tea.
This takes a long time for some reason.
Yeah.

(27:54):
I know they haven't been in any significant part of the story since they like moved chairs to sit next to her or something.
So weird.
Ryu plays baseball and we learned that he is the catcher, which is like kind of a weird like not the position I thought because isn't that like the.
It's pretty passive.
So I think he'd be not like running around.

(28:18):
Yeah, but I feel like the catcher is usually not your like best hitter.
I don't know.
It was shocking to me to learn that he was the catcher that just is not the vibe I got from him.
Let's see.
Well, we've seen him talk like when we saw other baseball folks go past and we said that was the most like animated.
We've seen him.
So maybe when it comes to baseball, he's more like take charge and I guess so.

(28:43):
I just like he looks like an athletic guy.
He runs all the time.
He's yes.
Always running position.
You don't run that much in, you know, yeah.
It was just interesting.
Maybe he just was filling in.
Maybe it's not his normal position to play.
Anyway, there's a scene where Kent watches Salvatore watch cause a higher during this montage.

(29:04):
It's just cheese's birthday and they have a class celebration celebrate.
Just OK.
Also during the montage, Ryu like runs past her on his jog and then he stops and gives her a gift and it's like a little bracelet and she seems to like it.
This also happens.
There's no audio for this because it's a montage.
But when she smiled and then he like the relief and like happiness is seeing her be happy on his face.

(29:31):
I was like, oh my God, I can die.
He's he loves her.
Only there was audio.
Only we can talk.
If only this wasn't part of a montage for some reason.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Let's see.
Salvatore looks at the good fortune cause a higher gave her at New Year's during this montage.
And then at the end of the montage, we learned it's a day before the festival.

(29:55):
I hate this much.
OK, I feel like it seems like they always have to do outside of school work on these names.
Like well, they're not supposed to months worth of time to work on this shit.
I feel like that's a lot of time.
Time like well, like they're not supposed to.
It sounds like they're not supposed to because like when they're like in the last yeah, guys are like sneaking out the float.

(30:17):
It's supposed to be like, oh, you're not supposed to work on it outside of school hours.
Yeah, everybody does anyway.
Yeah.
Girls are sewing at home. So I'm like, OK, I feel like what are the rules to this?
It seems like everybody's just cheating. I don't know.
Yeah.
And they can look. Yeah, you're right. They get a long time to work on.
Like are they just I will say the scenes like I mean, it is like a community representation of the school because like anyone from the public can come and check out the school festival when it happens.

(30:46):
I guess maybe the schools want it to do well and that's why they give it so much time.
Yeah, like it seems like such a huge production.
Yeah, like I watch other anime where they do like, I mean, it's like a pretty normal.
Yeah, at least it happened. I don't know how much this happens in real life. I assume it happens. I assume it's not this high production.
Yeah, but like the only time I've ever seen it like last several weeks is like if you're on the planning committee, which has to like coordinate everything.

(31:15):
Which that makes sense. But yeah.
Anyway, we returned from the montage and Sawaka wonders why she first started liking cause a higher.
It's festival time. Everything set up for the Sadaqo cafe. She has to give people like mystic advice like she's a fortune teller.
Penn sees this booth set up and we see Ryu who's like being the advertising guy or whatever.

(31:38):
It's a source.
And yeah, he's like at the bill. He's holding a sign. Ryu tells Penn that apparently everybody who talks to Sadaqo like loses their harmful or is that one.
Yeah, they all go in there to like curse somebody and they all come out feeling better in the cafe cause a high and I on air serving people.
I didn't get this cafe because like there's one line to talk to Sadaqo and then there's another line to just go to a cafe but it's just like a normal cafe.

(32:05):
I guess because he can't just have the whole class depend on one person to do everything. Maybe.
It just seems like they're separate.
Well, because they're doing they're using like the herbs grown by Sawaka is like the ingredients for things like that's the feed tied to her. Yeah.
Okay. Also, I kind of figured she would be there in the cafe, but no, she's not.

(32:27):
What is the deal because I feel like some people it's like there's a class booth but then clubs also have to have their own booth.
Like some people are having to work on multiple booths.
Yeah, right.
Like the only analog I have is like when they're like booth stuff at like college for joining clubs.

(32:48):
But that's like only like orientation day and stuff. Yeah.
Yeah, that kind of thing. I don't know. I guess you do. Who knows. It's confusing. Let's see.
Sawaka gets a smoke break and she uses it to look at Kazihaia's fortune, which she brought with her.
This is not into being relevant.
While she's doing this Kent shows up he like walks in on her.

(33:12):
He asks if he can tell her the truth.
He sits down and says that he didn't think she'd stand a chance of winning over Kazihaia and even thought.
And then she goes to the bathroom and says, you know, she said Kazihaia was the one person she couldn't talk to or she could talk to normally with.
It looked more like there was a wall between them. Like she set up some kind of barrier.
As soon as he says this Sawaka starts zoning out and thinking about if that's true.

(33:39):
Ken continues talking saying that he thought she was cute and would give up on him and then like would assemble in the class and then like, I don't know, could like live your own life and date someone, you know, maybe like me.
And then he notices that she's not listening and then he does some poses to see if like she's really zoning out and then concludes that only Kazihaia can make her cry or smile at all.

(34:00):
He gets up to leave and snaps out of her.
He gets up to leave.
She snaps out of it as he's leaving.
And he says that she has his support and he exits.
Kind of cute scene, I guess.
Yeah, closure.
It's fine.
I like this is where I'm like, okay, kinsen. All right, guy.
I think that her looking at the fortune is irrelevant. But I think if we think about the, because basically the fortune says, like, focus on love and blah, blah, blah, things will happen for you.

(34:33):
I think she's just been like pondering on this concept of like going for it.
Oh yeah, I mean like it's not going to show up again.
And these next episodes, what I meant by that.
I can't write down every time Saloko ponders anything because that's just the whole season.
She does.
Okay.
He doesn't talk to the cause like her.

(34:56):
Yeah, Saloko thinks to herself that she did start building a wall between her and him after all.
Kent puts on his server uniform because I guess it's his turn versus shift as cause a high approaches to end his shift.
He apologizes to him and tells him that the stuff with Saloko was just a misunderstanding cause a high I says he thinks she's misunderstanding him to Saloko is the one who usually gets misunderstood, but she never gave up.

(35:25):
While cause a high on the other hand gets mad and jealous easily. He's saying this about himself.
He was the one maybe he was the one admiring her this whole time. Then the scene ends.
He walks off and runs into some of his friends. They comment that Sotico is pretty amazing in this booth and he corrects them saying that her name is Saloko, which means that he says her name full name says the full name.

(35:49):
They say the first name and then he says her full name.
Yeah, you know, like a real bond James bond kind of thing.
Saloko hears this and we get more about her feelings for him. She had put him on a pedestal before but the person she came to like turns out was just the normal guy not the not the elevated one she just likes the normal guy cause a higher.

(36:15):
It's after school and she's when I on a catch up with Saloko. Saloko says that she doesn't care if cause a high likes any like somebody else and she runs off to go find him. Ryu yells after her telling her to go to the classroom.
She dramatically passes Karumi who sees her running and does nothing as Karumi keeps walking I on a ask her if she's going to cut in because this is her chance if she's going to do that and Karumi says nothing and just keeps walking home.

(36:39):
Saloko is running in the halls thinking about all the things she likes about cause a higher like his expressions and his smile. She kind of goes through all the expressions like a lot of expressions but they're all expressions.
She makes it to the classroom or cause a high is sitting there waiting for her. She stops at the door thinking how she hopes that her feelings will reach him from me to him.

(37:03):
So if she's close as I can get from me to you then we cut to credits. Yeah. Okay.
Well, this happened I was like, oh, I remember the following episode more now.
This is the very distinct theme.
Yay Ryu for being like, go get him girl.

(37:24):
Like, oh man.
Yep. Mother.
Yeah, she was the only one helping people out. Yes, for real. I'm gonna step up my note here is that Saloko was doing the anime girl run. Yes, the half bit arms going side to side. Yeah.
You know how to run I know you know how to run.

(37:45):
She does run and pick up trash so we do know that I hate the anime girl run. Yeah, I'm talking about it's like, you're running but instead of pumping your arms forward and backward.
I mean, you do it like side to side like you never run before in your life because I guess it's cuter.
Like you have no arm strength that'll hold them going forward. Well, noodle arms. But it just looks ridiculous. Yeah.

(38:11):
It looks it bothers me so much in this scene because like part of this scene is like she is determined right.
I want her to be like a little bit of desperation in a run like she's actually trying to get there fast. Yeah, doing this girly ass run. It makes it seem like she's not trying that hard.
Oh God, I yeah, well she needs to if she passes anyone they need to know she's doing that because she's about to do something.

(38:40):
So they can't interrupt her. Yeah.
Yeah, I guess she needs to not be like sweating profusely when she shows up. I think I think we should get some real desperation from her, you know.
Yeah, I was going to be flustered enough as it is.
Yeah. Yeah.

(39:01):
What do you got about this episode? I said thank goodness this wasn't the last episode recovering today.
This is like our more or less the send off we get with Kent. Well, he's on in the next episode. Yeah. How'd you feel about that? Does that does that reassess your assessment of him?
I don't know. Happy to let him go from my mind. He apologizes to everyone. Yeah.

(39:26):
I think, I don't know. Maybe he's surprised to see how involved everyone is in this pairing. So hopefully he'll think more about how his meddling will affect everyone involved in the situation because people are invested in their friends happiness and that happiness being tied to the success of their love.

(39:50):
I mean, again, I can't help but think that none of this would have happened if he didn't meddle. So it's hard for me to be like, oh, you meddling was a mistake and I'm like, it's actually the only thing that happens to happen.
Yeah, I have a question.
Yeah.
Did your mom say anything like she's she agrees with you or me on Kent?

(40:11):
I know I haven't talked about this. Okay, I want to know. He agrees with you.
Wait.
Well, I mean, so I think I think that's a called shot. I can make pretty easily.
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, no, I mean, the thing is like, y'all are right. He is like this. But also, if he's not here, this show is terrible. You know what I mean? Like, it is. Yeah.

(40:34):
They're stuck in place. They're going to be necessary.
Evil like the whole this whole season has been various people giving saw what go advice and her thinking about it for nine episodes. It's brutal.
Yeah. Let me get to the next episode. Yeah. Okay.
Episode nine is called confession.
We jump back a bit for when saw a co first started running into the school.

(40:56):
Outside Ryu tells cheese you that he knew where cause a high was because he was talking with him earlier.
We get a flashback where cause a high tells Ryu that he is going to clear things up with saw a co and tell her that he likes her, though he already did that.
We jump back to the end of last episode where saw a co has arrived at the classroom.
She starts to open the door but stops midway cause a high walks over to see who it is and is stunned to see saw a co there cause a high opens the conversation by apologizing for making her cry before and for being a bother in general.

(41:28):
He says that he will listen to whatever she has to say to him.
And I guess that means he won't walk off.
Yeah, I know right.
Saw a co tells him that she came to tell him something. She says that when she used to help people, they would apologize to her for like putting her out, but he was the first one to thank her.

(41:50):
He made her so happy and brought joy and color into her life.
She starts to thank him for the various things he's done for her and the feelings he's made her feel.
Then she says that she likes him and like a big cut of like her saying it a bunch and like a bunch of different camera angles.
Yeah, so at this point, yep.
I was gonna say just imagine the live action where they do that exact same thing. So cringy and live action.

(42:16):
Yeah, the thing I need to mention here is that this whole time she's been hiding behind the door.
Yeah, I very distinctly remember this where she's behind the door like washing insanely and like, you know, can't face him to say these things.
Yeah.
That's the last wall like a physical wall.

(42:38):
She has to be the last physical wall that she has between the physical. Yes. Yes. Symbolism. Here it is.
I hate this.
Anyway, the next thing that happens where I'm I know it's causing a walk up and opens the door all the way.
I'm just shattering the wall between them. So because things is too embarrassing for him to see her, but he grabs her hand and pulls her into the classroom closing the door behind them.

(43:10):
The thing that seems like it should be way sexier than it is.
We cut the outside.
Sorry, do you think anything to do with saw because gonna be sexy.
I don't like that in any other context that would be like they're gonna start making out or something. You don't have to be like that is that.
Not for this show, but for every other show ever made, you know, if a guy drags you into a room. You haven't watched enough.

(43:34):
The door behind them. You know, after you just said that you're in love with them. Usually a thing.
Not this though. I was not expecting it. I'm my part was like racing watching. I was like, yeah, let's go.
Oh, that's wild.
I have a different reaction to this.
We cut the outside. Joe is looking for cause a high he asks.

(43:58):
You just kind of ignore him or like just smiles instead of saying anything. It's really weird.
Well, it's because he knows there is the way he thinks about what cause a high is getting to do right now, which is like actually see this through.
He's happy for him. So he smirks.
Yeah. Yeah. And she doesn't cover for him. Just doesn't say anything. No.

(44:22):
Fucking Joe went home. God damn it. I hate him. And then pin shows up and he asked I on a cheese.
They've seen saw a code and they say no. And he was like, well, actually, I guess I'll look at you.
She's in the classroom because sometimes she's there and they stop him saying that she went home actually, you know, the thing Ryu should have told Joe.
Yeah, we cut back to the classroom where cause a high is hugging saw a code.

(44:44):
He pulls back and looks at her and then she gets all embarrassed. They look at each other in silence for a long time.
Well, he hugs her. I was gonna say he hugs her and then she like grabs his shirt, which is like a very subtle way of being like she's into this hog, which I think is reassuring to him.
Yeah, that's good. Then Joe Burson and is like, there you are cause a high.

(45:08):
Oh, everything.
So go and tells her that pins looking for her. Also, what are y'all doing up here?
I have three notes. My notes are dumbass Joe, somebody murdered Joe for fuck's sake. Joe, Joe ruined your kiss wish.

(45:29):
Yeah, cause you were like, I want them to kiss and then listen. I can't be mad at Joe here because this very clearly is just the thing that is the most became clear to me at the end is that season two is just this.
They have nothing else. They can't kiss.
Okay, they have to continue on three more episodes. They have to drag this out for three more episodes because they have nothing else to do in this season.

(45:56):
You know how in the other seasons, like in season one that I could there would be drama, but would be interspersed with B plots.
Yeah, or other characters. Yeah, going on. Not happening this season. We only have this and it has to be interrupted by mundane bullshit because we have three more episodes.
Oh, that's true.
This season. I hate this season.

(46:18):
Season so brutal.
Yeah, Joe shows up whatever.
Whatever. Joe has the most unimportant question that he could just text because I high about he's like what kind of snack do you want tonight?
And like, oh my God.
Get out of here.
But.

(46:39):
Okay, I'm almost done. So I'll just I'll get to it at the end.
So I'm going to get some bears and runs off saying she's going to find pin cause I had I tells Joe that that was an important moment but Joe doesn't seem to get it or care.
We got the nighttime the girls are working on costumes for festival day or for the festival day to day to I guess there's another festival day. I don't know.

(47:01):
I guess they didn't do the parade with the floats.
Well, I think it's just the festivals are two days. So maybe it's just the first day is like activities and second ones like the wrap up because something always have like a bonfire dance at the end of the festivals to
I feel like time. Yeah, no. There's a day to clear loads. It's very weird because it's like they're just there's just a cut to them doing the costumes again and I'm like what's happening you already did the festival but I guess we didn't.

(47:31):
Let's see.
For some reason, Savako tells Chizu and I on a that she only sort of confessed to cause a high which made me insane. I got so mad when she says this because she's like we're catching they're like oh what happened and she's like oh yeah I like told cause a high my feelings they're like oh really she's
like well not really I only told him some of my feelings it would be she says she could only tell him like one tenth of her feelings for him.

(47:54):
That's because she's like in her mind gushing about all these things she likes which is not necessary for this moment at all. This is also not the question they were asking. Yeah.
They asked what they're like oh well what did he say in response and so it tries to remember if he actually said anything or not. No.
No he didn't but she doesn't say like oh yeah we like embraced for 10 minutes. Yeah. No she doesn't say anything. They're interrupted when pin shows up he says he's got a plan to convince the judges to let them win.

(48:26):
He comes in and all the girls like grimace like the disdain on their faces when pin comes.
I don't know why he hates him because like he seems if everything in these episodes he seems just like a like kind of a nice guy. Yeah but he's also annoying as hell.
That's not going to be your teacher like your grades depend on getting information from him.

(48:56):
He calls Salvaco out like out back to tell him his genius plan.
He starts to tell her about the plan but instead she just blurts out that she can't look at cause a high anymore without impure hopes.
Okay she acts like such a normal and a girl in this moment like yes this is the most normal like girly. Yeah.

(49:20):
Moment I've had towards Salvaco this entire season.
She starts like crying slash just generally kind of freaking out and pin is like bro what then he tells her that all teens have impure hopes.
Don't worry about it kid.
And then he's like anyway listen this is really important.
The plan is for you to bribe the judges when you pass by them so like drop this on like in front of him.

(49:47):
Like you got to remember to do that Salvaco I understand you have impure hopes or whatever but you have to bribe these judges.
And then she says she'll remember it and then he leaves on his way home pin realizes that he said something super motivating to her just now it decides that he should go see cause a high because he's on a roll.
Elsewhere the boys are working on the float still pin burst in and starts talking to cause a high in the hallway.

(50:13):
He yells at the rest of the boy that got a high has impure hopes because I had shoves him out the door and then text Salvaco saying that they should talk again as we cut to credits.
This.
All right, next.
This is the climax is coming up.
This is hard.
How is this season not making you insane.

(50:35):
Because I've already seen it.
It's the most like the thing I liked about season one is that things you know we're kept pretty realistic like the way people were reacting to things it wasn't just like doing stuff to like create drama.
Yeah.
We spent time with the side characters like we had some really interesting B plus they like planted some flags I thought we would get to later.

(51:00):
And then season two just walks all that stuff back.
That's true.
I just feel like it's undermining season one.
I agree like we need B plot.
We need extra things happening.
Everything could be solved by B plot like it just becomes so grading to just sit there and like here's Salvaco think think everything out and excruciating detail over and over and over again like all these three episodes are just various people in her life coming up to her and giving her romance advice and then her being like maybe this romance advice is exactly what I need to hear.

(51:33):
And it's it's just that over and over and over again.
There's nothing in between it to like give you some relief.
I feel like season one was more like a standout from the rest of show Joe whereas this feels like it's falling into the same issues that others do because I feel like most of them don't have secondary story lines and it is just like miscommunications left and right and you know interference.

(51:59):
You know like detracting things happening.
Or at least back in like the two the earlier 2000s I feel like show Joe now are getting better about like actually having the series start but the relationship actually develop and then we actually get to see like the characters in a relationship and that not just being the conclusion of the whole series.

(52:23):
Yeah, but like I even feel like the way they're doing this by like dragging it out and doing it like piecewise is going to cheapen the like final climax right because it's like.
Episode nine is called confession they've already said everything yeah like they already know everything.
That means whatever bigger confession we're going to get at the end of the parade or whatever at the climax isn't going to be as good because of that.

(52:48):
You know what I mean like it it's not going to have it.
What do we guess we're going to be nervous going into season three.
I mean, I don't know.
Well we'll see it's just it's this is really disappointing.
This has been a very disappointing season to realize that this is the only plot going on and also it's gonna we're just gonna artificially drag it out like Joe has to show up for no reason to end the scene.

(53:17):
And then like even the introduction of Kent is like kind of ridiculous like did that really need to happen.
Yeah, I mean it did because there's nothing else going on.
Yes, but they could have done a more like inspiring like make the characters like make Saloka more likable by her coming to the thing herself rather than having to have someone else push her.

(53:41):
Yeah, and it's even like like this stuff was good. It's one of these things where it's like I bet there was a B plot in the manga.
Yeah, but there's something could have adapted it just didn't for some reason.
Yeah, like because the stuff that's happening like the story beats are good.
Like I like that Saloka realizes she's being too passive.
I like that she realizes that you know when she says she likes cause I hide that has to mean something she's kind of afraid of somebody liking her.

(54:06):
I like the fact that you know she needs to try to be bold and like not care if things aren't going to turn out well and just go and tell them what she feels anyway.
All that stuff is good, but dragging it out for nine episodes just makes it kind of excruciating.
Yeah, yeah.
And like even to get to like when she does the confession but she's still hiding behind the door.

(54:27):
It's like you aren't being bold in the way you need to be bold like I understand that you need to be bold like the actual climax like I'm sure in the climax you won't be hiding behind a door.
Yeah, but like this it doesn't feel good to be like finally I'm here but I'm also still going to cower and I'm going to need him to get rid of the door and it's like this is supposed to be a growth thing for you and you have it done it still.

(54:48):
I mean technically cause I hire has also been fumbling and needs to do something on his part as well.
Because he has been just like failing halfway through conversations at least he's like okay I'm gonna be here I'm gonna actually listen to what you have to say and then he does his part by opening the door.

(55:09):
You know, but he still doesn't do his part because his part the whole thing about causing hi is he doesn't actually open up about how he feels about things.
And he just hugs her and doesn't say anything.
He still isn't doing it.
He's still not doing it.
He's already freaking told her.
But not in the detail she is I mean she's going into she's got a whole frigging poem about how great he is.

(55:32):
Yeah, I think you're great.
Like the thing he realized with Kent when he's like oh yeah like I was admiring you for like your ability to like stick through being misunderstood.
I mean I couldn't do that in the confession.
Like, you know if he tries to go in and talk about her and all these things that she's just gonna be like there's no way no way.
I couldn't possibly think such good things about me like, or it would like to start well she also easily gets confused or like caught up in things I need to like be incredibly blunt and direct so you can't elaborate on his feelings in case she thinks that he, like if he says he

(56:10):
likes this about her and she's like I don't really think that that's about me so he doesn't actually like me he just is confused but you know like, I don't know.
I mean I understand it's going to be difficult but it's it's not that satisfying to me when she realizes that she needs to like actually pay attention to him and then the time they the next time they meet up he doesn't say anything.

(56:31):
Like you're so that's true.
What did you know about this.
There's nothing to learn about anything.
Yeah.
In terms of like the thing he's good at is he is a bit bolder like he will take direct action to do things. Usually it's only when he's under threat, but he'll do it.
Whereas her whole thing is she's very expressive right like she will keep talking.

(56:53):
Yeah, will try to resolve things and they need to do the thing that the other one is good at and neither of them have yet. Yeah, combine forces because it's episode nine out of 12 and we can't just get this over with already.
We've got to drag it out for three more episodes somehow.
Well, what any speculation on what's going to happen. Next time.

(57:15):
Two episodes are going to be about the festival and like getting it all set up and there's going to be some drama like I don't know someone will go missing or something. And then the last episode, they'll finally do the thing and we'll end on them like hugging or something.
Okay.
You're so you're so hopeful last season of an ending on a kiss and now you're like I'll take a hot.

(57:38):
We'll be lucky if they freaking hold hands at the end is embarrassing.
Well, right.
Cheezoo and Ryu will high five at the end. I don't know.
This is the way I will have to like avoid Joe at the end. I on a fire dance and he's trying to ask her or something.

(58:00):
I on a will like briefly make eye contact with pin and we'll get like a montage of Tomo and echo like.
Yeah, random.
Yeah.
Yes.
What happened.
I'm so high on this show before.

(58:21):
I'm sorry.
They just like forget.
I guess I did forget about like everything that happened in season two. So in my mind, this is a great show because why I remember season one.
Okay, we did get we did get some really good Karimi content. I'm being positive here. The Karimi stuff is great.
She's the new MVP of the show.

(58:45):
Kent is fun. Like I, you know, I don't know if I really wanted to stick around. I think we could be done with Ken after this.
He serves as purpose.
I called him a hero earlier, which I still think he's the hero of season two for making the plot go because otherwise Jesus Christ, we'd be doing nothing.
Yeah.
But you know, I'm ready to be, you know, we're okay. I feel like he played his part. That's fun. You know, be a little meddler. That's okay.

(59:06):
But everybody else man taking you. Oh God, I guess I like pin more now, which is never a good thing.
It's gonna break down your faith and pen.
Well, now I'm not in this weird position where I'm like, Iona needs to not like him, but also everybody's kind of mean to him.
And I feel like he's just all right. I feel like everyone's kind of mean to him.
He's a troll.

(59:28):
He is a troll.
I see that being annoying. Yeah. Yeah.
This is it. She's barely been in this season.
That's true.
I can't believe the biggest cheesy Ryu movement movement moment we got was in a montage where we couldn't hear them talk.
I know it was such a cute moment though.
Oh, like he has slight blush on his cheek and everything.

(59:51):
It's just infuriating because it's like they had time this season.
It's not like we've been using every second of this season to efficiently.
Yeah, there are multiple episodes you could just cut out.
I feel like.
Yeah.
And they could have put this stuff in there and they didn't. And it's so confusing.
We're going to end this show knowing nothing about Iona at all.

(01:00:16):
Why did she wear that violin pin?
I know it was so distinct, right? You think it meant something.
Okay. Well, I guess that's that of Perkeeming Nitsudoke this week.

(01:00:38):
It's better than having a banger ending.
Yeah, for real.
It better be like the biggest production ever.
Maybe it'll win me back if it's like, I don't know.
The animation was good in this last episode like Sawako look pretty.
Yeah.
They animated her well.
They saved the budget for this episode.
Yeah, I mean, but this is I feel like this is supposed to be the big

(01:01:00):
confession episode and it just didn't.
It just didn't land like I wanted to.
Oh, Joe's fault.
I don't think it was Joe's fault.
Okay, okay.
Okay, so we're going to move on to recommendations now and I don't have
one prepared.
I haven't been bad at that lately.

(01:01:21):
I really thought you were going to recommend Night in the Woods,
but I guess I'm only like three hours of it.
Yeah.
But do you really need to do you really need to?
Well, I need to know if it's like going to traumatize me in the process.
I'm afraid of this game now.
Do you have a recommendation prepared?

(01:01:47):
Nope.
I recommended Outer Wilds yet.
I don't think so.
Okay.
I'm going to recommend the coolest game ever.
It's called Outer Wilds.
Okay.
Tell us about it.
Okay.
So this is a game.
Let me let me pull up some information about it so I can I can give you some.
Okay.

(01:02:08):
I know I'm going to recommend this is a game that came out in 2019.
I developed by Mobius Digital.
I played on PC, but it's also on a bunch of consoles and stuff like this.
It is a single player adventure kind of exploration game.
It takes place on a planet.
You're like a little alien guy.

(01:02:31):
And this planet is very good at space exploration.
Like that's kind of your whole thing.
So you are a new explorer who is going to get inside a spaceship and go explore the planets in your solar system.
There are like four or five.
I think actually there's like six, I believe you're going to investigate the alien ruins of the Nomai, which is like a forerunner alien race that has left, you know, different.

(01:03:01):
Pro the in this.
Pro what?
That's for Mass Effect.
Yeah, it's kind of like that. Like there's all this different stuff they have these like different logs. You have a theme that can translate their language. You can like go and see kind of like what's been going on.
But in in your travels are kind of in the startup of this game, you or your character gets stuck in a time loop. So every 22 minutes of actual time, the planetary system will reset as the sun supernovas.

(01:03:35):
And is your job to try to figure out how to learn about the now we and their quest for the eye of the universe.
And you do that by visiting different planets. You learn about the mechanic grades, right? Like it's not like you fill out an upgrade tree or a skill tree or something like that.

(01:03:56):
You by exploring the different worlds, you understand how this how the world works. And by learning how to trigger certain things are like, you know, this type of plant has this effect.
So if you get in this plant and then do this thing, you will be protected from, you know, the electrical fields around things, or, you know, by interacting with this rock and this way you can teleport to different places.

(01:04:20):
And by understanding how the game or how the world works, you're able to navigate to these different places and understand, you know, what what is going on and eventually, you know, make your way to the eye of the universe.
It's super fascinating. It's, you know, an incredible game. There's a little bit of a there's a little bit of some kind of scary parts to it, and not like horror horror but kind of like thriller kind of stuff.

(01:04:44):
It's incredibly cool. You know, it's probably like one of the most interesting games I've ever played. I think about it all the time. It's a really fun game. And you know, flying through space always feels good.
So outer wilds. Nice. Nice. It is like maybe one of my top five games ever.
Ooh.
Nice. Nice. Okay, I'm also going to recommend a game that I just started playing. It's kind of a tool. I've been using it for work. It's called Spirit City Lo-Fi Sessions.

(01:05:18):
And it's kind of like a productivity game where you like set goals and daily habits and can set timers of like work this duration and then take this kind of break and you like get points for doing that and you like unlock new cute little pets and you can customize space and it plays like, you know,

(01:05:42):
low-fi music and you can customize your character. You know, there's like sound effects. So I like to have like thunder sounds in the background and it's, I think it's been helpful because I have a hard time focusing sometimes.
And I like games. So let's make a focus. Basically, it's described as the gamified focus tool to improve concentration and ease stress. So I've been using it when I work from home because, yeah, it, I don't know, I need something that like help me focus and this has been helpful so far.

(01:06:27):
And I like cute character and all the cute little critters and stuff. Yeah, so I, yeah, Lo-Fi, Spirit City Lo-Fi Sessions, if you want kind of a game to help you get tasks done and stuff, I recommend. Very cute. Good music. All that jazz.

(01:06:50):
Yeah. And so wanna next segment.
Redis Five Stars. Do it right now. Pause the episode and go Redis Five Stars and then leave a comment if you can leave a comment. That'll help us out. Also tell all of your friends who like anime that they should listen to this podcast. They should get into showjo. Tell anybody who like, if you like any romance at all, if you have ever experienced or thought about romance in your life, you should tell that person to listen to this podcast.

(01:07:22):
That seems pretty inclusive. Yeah, go ahead and do that. We have one more episode of season two. Season two. We're gonna end it. We're gonna see how it ends. Maybe it does everything I want and more.
Or maybe it does something else. I don't know.

(01:07:43):
We'll find out next week. And then we'll be, yeah, and then we're gonna announce what we're gonna do next in terms of like season three should be coming out in August. So that's like very soon.
We'll let you know. Like because they haven't announced like how many episodes there are gonna be, how it's gonna be dropped, any of that stuff. So we're gonna take a look at that. And then next time we should have some idea about how we're going to approach that, including what we're going to watch next. So please keep a look out for that.

(01:08:13):
Or, you know, listen to the next episode. Essentially. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pretty popular one. Yeah.
Yeah. Sweet. Well, thanks for listening. And you know what, if people give you advice, act upon that advice if you agree with it. Don't just.

(01:08:38):
What advice is just that's just taking it advice. That's your takeaway. Here's my takeaway. If you ever need to drag out your plot for three more episodes, just like have Joe burst in for no.
Just just create random things that happen. Just like a character who's so purpose is to be unlikeable and like he's your backup plan. If you need somebody to ruin a moment.

(01:09:08):
It doesn't even need to be funny. Just have it happen for some reason. Yeah. Maybe don't do that.
B plots. Add B plots. Add a B plot. Just add a B plot. Your A plot cannot stand on its own. Add a B plot. Easy. Yeah. Easy solution.
A good B plot would be that Karumi is now acting differently in her like dealing with like all the people she used to be nice to being all pissy that she's like different now.

(01:09:38):
That wasn't good, right? Yeah. Oh, God.
Damn it. Yeah. That would have been so good because I feel like all the chicks would have been like she was faking it that you know blah blah blah.
Yeah, but like it's the most fat like the most fascinating thing still is like at the end of episode one or whenever when like Karumi's leaving and

(01:10:00):
Saru's like dang she used to be nice. Yeah. Yeah. She way better now that that's sent it that that to sentence exchange. It's more interesting stuff that could have been a B plot. Yeah.
Anything. Man. Don't make a montage in episode eight. Yeah. Stop. Weird thing to do. Doing what feels like.

(01:10:22):
Ryu Chizu moments in a month and passing. Yeah. Got a whole mini art class time. Yeah. Not doing them justice. This they get a scene in a montage next to freakin Tomo and Echo drinking tea.
What are we doing? Yeah.
All right. Okay. See you guys next time for the season finale.

(01:10:44):
The season finale.
Joe sounds super excited. I hope you are too. Yeah. All right. I'm going to be so fascinated with season three. Yeah, we will. I don't remember how season two answered depending on that.
I'll either be excited or unsure of season three. You know after we'll see. I'm going to be I'm really hoping I'll get to the end of season two and be like I understand what this didn't get renewed.

(01:11:10):
Oh yeah. Probably. That's true. Okay. Bye.
