Welcome one and all to episode 394 of Signals from Mars. I'm your host Victor

(00:08):
and for this episode and we have a lot of people on the show we have a few that
didn't appear on air or in the video version of this but this is the Metal
Bands Unite episode featuring a bunch of bands from the Northeast we'll get into
it next.

(00:57):
So sometime over the summer Chris Keys of Engineered Society Project contacts me
to let me know that he's working with another band called Dirt they're working
on something called Metal Bands Unite and there's gonna be a show up in
Connecticut that that is gonna center around this whole thing and we kept

(01:22):
going back and forth because I was in the States on vacation and I couldn't do
anything up until like a few days before the the show took place. What we're gonna
get into the the audio version of this the the video version if you're not
aware is already up on YouTube and Facebook and a bunch of other social

(01:42):
media platforms. The video versions always come out a week before and I
released that it was on Friday the 6th and the show took place on the 7th and
from all intents and purposes it looks like it it was a success it looks really

(02:02):
cool there's Chris tagged me in a bunch of different things and also there's
images of him and other people that played the show so it looks like it came
out really really really neat. With that said

(02:23):
these types of interviews are a challenge because with so many people
there's people connecting dropping out you want to get to everyone who's there
that isn't always possible you also want to make it interesting for the people
that are joining the show from an audience standpoint so it's always a

(02:44):
challenge with you know the max is 10 I think we got up to seven people eight
people something like that at one point I got to most of the people but I think
the conversation ended up being really really neat really really interesting and

(03:05):
I hope that you guys enjoy it this is the the first episode that I've recorded
in months because for those that are not keeping score or those that actually
aren't over on patreon who have been receiving other podcasts and other
behind-the-scenes news while all this is taking place most of the shows that I

(03:29):
released over July and August were recorded in June so there was a lot of
different things that I had laid out and the feedback that I've gotten back has
been really cool and much like that I've got other shows that are already in the
can per se and things that are that are going to be recorded this week that are

(03:51):
we coming out in coming weeks so if you do want to check out those extra
patreon shows you can go to patreon.com forward slash signals from Mars you can
join us for as little as two bucks a month I do the Victor M Ruiz podcast
there I try to do a show once a week isn't always possible sometimes life

(04:13):
gets in the way regardless you could also go to signals from Mars calm and
check out everything that's going on there from replays of the other audio
podcasts or replays of the video versions of the show as well so you've
got all that great stuff going on there and that's pretty much it I do want to

(04:40):
thank you guys for joining me and listening to this episode man it is it
is technically right now we are embarking on year number 16 of this
podcast so I thank you guys for for continuously listening to the show and
for those that have jumped on later on thank you as well hope you enjoy this

(05:04):
episode you share with your friends and check out the bands that were involved
during the interview here we go
you

(05:28):
welcome one and all to the latest edition of signals from Mars as usual
I'm your host Victor and we are joined this week by a plethora of guests we can
thank mr. Chris keys from ESP organizing this whole get-together here

(05:48):
oh yeah thanks brother all right so it took us a while to get everyone together
here with sound issues and everything to all be here now the the get-together
here is for something called metal bands unite which is happening this weekend

(06:13):
and I think the concept is really great Chris you kind of explained it to me
via via messenger but I wanted you to explain and some of the other guys here
what metal bands unite is all about thank you very much big for metal bands

(06:38):
unite is about a Congress engineers ID project and called dirt and it was such
a great conversation that we started talking about you know what really want
to say we get in front of people and we have is and we care about being
especially you know that we're doing I'm coming from Texas back east I think the

(07:06):
name speaks off I think long that a project is gonna do a dirt and actually
every face you see up on this this woody cop we probably want them to be a part
of it some really how we're gonna make art if is there's a documentary that's
being talked about right now that's gonna bust all metal bands unite so I

(07:28):
really believe it doesn't need much much explanation but Ralph you feel a little
bit more than that but I think the name is there yeah so the documentary is
gonna be titled metal bands unite and it's really gonna be just very

(07:51):
detailed look at you know all the struggles and all the and all the also
glory of being in an original metal band and we're focusing on this New Haven
kind of you know scene here in Connecticut you know we're gonna want to
get a lot of the bands involved I see some people on the on the podcast right

(08:15):
now that I know we're in bands that you know we want to be interviewing and
involved in this whole thing there's a lot of things that people don't know a
lot of the struggles and how hard it is to be able to stay in an original band
for a long enough time to really gain any traction in today's day and age but
you know not getting paid like musicians used to when they put their music out is

(08:40):
difficult and you know club owners you know aren't able to pay original bands a
lot because many of the original bands you know don't have a big draw because
they're not playing songs that people know yet and everything everybody on
this call I'm sure realizes that you know it's us original bands that cover

(09:01):
bands get to draw from someday if we ever made it to that level so I mean the
importance of an original band is huge and we just want to get people out there
to support the scene so that you know so that we can build on new original music
people you know say you know our genre of music rock and metal you know really

(09:23):
there's not been a big culture shift I mean the last time we really had anything
serious was in the 90s with Nirvana and the grunge you know movement you know
it's been quiet since then and and you know the only way to start something
back up is to really be able to build a scene and you know we're slowly doing
that I saw some footage from a show last week at the space ballroom eyes of they

(09:48):
did a great job you know getting some draw there it looked like there was a
pretty damn big crowd our tickets for metal bands unite this you know on
Saturday night the tickets are selling very well so I think you're gonna see
another big crowd so there's potential there and that's what we want to talk

(10:08):
about the documentary sorry it was so long-winded but that's what it's gonna
be about we think it's gonna be real interesting and something that people
will be you know really be able to get behind so so the idea is to focus on you
mentioned bands from Connecticut it's being somebody that's from New Jersey

(10:28):
originally there's always talk because it's kind of like in the sense that
it's an extension of New York to an extent but it's always been kind of its
own stronghold somewhere somewhere between you know New York and Boston
what makes that area so special that keeps all you guys going and continuing

(10:54):
to want to put on shows like this and want to work with one another because
that's another thing that Chris talked about that's kind of when I moved to
Europe was kind of a typical for bands to understand that you kind of have to
support one another they kind of get a movement going yeah you know that's one

(11:14):
of the big issues that I notice I try to watch a lot of footage of live shows and
you know sometimes I'll see an empty club and the the the roster will have
six even seven bands on it and I always wonder if there are six bands and an
average band just for math four people in a band you know six times four is 24

(11:39):
people why aren't there 24 people standing in the front of the stage and
making it look like there's something going on so that your average you know
that someone who's not in a band is gonna go wow that looks fun I want to go
to the next one it always boggles my mind that the bands don't stand up there
and support each other and that's not all bands we played at the Jameson with

(12:01):
Devil's Hop Yard a couple weeks ago and those guys were front and center throwing
their you know metal horns in the air and you know again the footage I saw
last week at the at the Space Ballroom I think I saw Pete who's the singer from
Isaiah standing front and center you know his show and you know probably the

(12:24):
star of the show being the singer in the in the band that's featured and he's out
in the middle so there are people that do it but when I see a lot of you know
big shows and and I don't see people my concern isn't that they didn't draw it's
more that the bands didn't support each other to your point and we need to be
out there standing in front of the stage supporting the other bands throwing the

(12:47):
fist in the air because perception is reality and people need to see
something going on to want to be a part of it and when they see an empty club
you know they put on the TV instead so we really got to create that perception
and you know I think a lot of people on this call right now are the people who
are really gonna start the movement hmm okay and and to your point with the

(13:13):
documentary as well it's also another way of getting kind of getting that
message out there as well I mean this isn't something that's specific to you guys I
mean it's like I said it's something that's kind of worldwide where there are
pockets where there are rock and metal bands that are still trying to make

(13:34):
things happen and personally from what I've seen where I am currently you just
know you don't have that camaraderie you don't have that brotherhood and I think
with any kind of remotely big movement that we've seen you've seen that with

(13:55):
bands coming together and helping one another in that fashion that that you're
saying yeah well Chris Keys is a lot farther on than me and my band mates in
dirt and he was so open and welcoming and and and even pushing us to the

(14:16):
forefront of this whole thing we were talking about it and it made me feel a
little different because I thought wow you know that's the kind of support we
we should be showing each other and I want to make sure that I show that that
same kind of support that Chris shows me to other bands around here as well so
it's gonna take a lot of you know attitude adjustment and and

(14:41):
understanding that it's not a competition it's not about you know
who's the best because just like the grunge scene was in the 90s and then you
know Hollywood in the 80s there was a built-in scene because all the bands
played together and there were lots of great bands and if we could create that
then we go we can go play the space ballroom and know it's going to be

(15:04):
packed we could go to the cellar and know it's not going to be empty because
we're all supporting each other and and we're making a scene that people want to
be a part of and I mean it's going to be the only way that this is going to
happen right okay the collaboration from a music standpoint of you guys wanting

(15:27):
to get together and write music together and as you're saying you want to include
pretty much everyone that's here was that something that you know initially
was hard to like kind of digest and figure out you know how's this gonna
work how or was there like a clean-cut plan already all right this is what I

(15:50):
want to do this is what I'm gonna propose this is who I want to speak to
how did you you know go about doing that?
Chris I mean I don't know if you want to jump in here but I'll you know for my
part when Chris and I and Ray you know started talking and then I talked to the
guys in my band I see Scott on who's the shredder in my band and like when once

(16:17):
we just started talking about it because it's you know like-minded musicians it
flowed real easy am I right Chris? Yeah the big thing is we first started this
up our this is like the bridge bunch I'm gonna point left corner my man was

(16:39):
talking about why don't you tell him that story you're talking about right
before we started because I've been in this scene forever man I've been
reaching out to people to unite since I started why don't you just tell the
people that story to just show that I've been out there on the street man
well I mean you know Chris you know back in the day you know right with with his

(17:04):
bands Blind Justice and Gargantua Soul you know just hard working and and and
you know putting flyers on telephone poles and you know talking to everybody
they could talk to and you know one of the most impressive things from back
then is you know Blind Justice being able they couldn't play Toad's Place one
night because they sold it out so quick that they needed a second night and sold

(17:29):
that one out too so you're talking about a local band selling out a legendary
club two nights in a row just from tenacious hard work and I'm gonna tell
you too the scene around here there are bands that have good music it's it's
not it's not a lot of crap I mean it's you know there's either good we're gonna

(17:52):
be able to make people happy when they come out and see us I mean I crank
deception you know Chris is single right now in my car like you know to the top I
think I'm not gonna be able to hear by the time Saturday night gets here but
that's okay and and you know there's just there's just a lot of good stuff
you know and and we really just need to band together and and make sure people

(18:18):
you know demand that people pay attention and listen and this documentary
is gonna help us a lot too because you know that kind of fell into place as
well and and I think there's just a lot of stuff people need to understand so
they so they know how much support we need and they lift us up and we can have
you know we can have the forefront again I mean there's a lot of great music

(18:39):
coming out today but it's just not in our genre and we need to get back up in
front like we used to be if you were talking about you know justice you know
years ago and one thing about blind justice that was kind of groundbreaking
for me was number one they were extremely ahead of their time very much

(19:05):
ahead of their time I mean there was first of all there was nobody that
sounded like it and the the the entire production of the live show was
insurmountable I mean you couldn't even touch it I mean you had Chris obviously
you know you had the pain but it was just the introduction to the band it was
the it was the dancers you had a age it was all of the theatrics that made it a

(19:25):
big show and so with that kind of you know entertainment value really I mean
you had not only was the music solid but entertaining why there wasn't a person
in there that wasn't entertained you know what I mean it was great Chris
Keys is still ahead of his time today so I mean it's worth coming out to make
sure you see ESP because he hasn't lost his edge even with his very old age

(19:49):
sorry Chris yes but he has not lost his edge one bit and he's still the guy
knows how to put on a fantastic show and people need to see and I remember so
like going then fast forward to gargantuan soul and then Empire and you
know like doing shows with all those bands was always just it was a really

(20:12):
really good time but I think that the crowd themselves were just kind of
captivated by the entertainment value of the whole thing which was huge you know
and Chris you know not you know I'm not trying to earn points but I'm known
forever the your friend of mine yeah fucking amazing voice I mean just a
great singer inherently just a great singer not a screamer and doesn't need
to be just always been a great singer and just an exceptional frontman you

(20:34):
know so matter of fact I'll show you guys something real funny real quick so
buddy actually put together a he drew a collage for me about six or seven days
and he's like you know put you know give me a list of all your favorite singers
so I said all right no that's cool I'll give you a list of my favorite singers
and I didn't know he was gonna draw this for me and I'll show you guys this
picture really quick you can see it so a lot of great you know metal singers

(20:58):
crooners but you see this guy
right there from back in the G soul days and I was you know I said well Chris was
one of my favorite singers and you know as a matter of fact Chris is the one that
got live music first time I saw him was at Boppers and Waterbury I didn't know
what the fuck was going on yeah I'm standing there and I'm like what's going

(21:20):
on here I got a guy in pajamas DJing I'm like what you know and all these guys
and Pete and all these guys like paint I'm like what the hell and then I hear
the singing and I'm like where's the singer and I turn around and like
shit Chris is doing a full split between two tables we're in the cat in the hat
the bathrobe the tiger tooth thing and I'm like what the actual fuck am I

(21:43):
watching right now besides amazing I was drawn it immediately and that's
actually what that's actually what got me into live music that was the show
right there back in 1992 I think somewhere around there Wow so yeah it's
awesome good stuff man but you know I'm too well I don't I unfortunately I got a
jump in a couple minutes but just one thing I want to say so I'm in it I'm

(22:06):
actually in a tribute band right now and I did original music for a long long
time and we've got a Rage Against the Machine tribute band and we probably
you know we play with a lot of other tribute bands and all that stuff but one
thing that we really like to do is I always encourage you know getting local
original bands on the bill with us so that we know that they're gonna have a

(22:28):
captive audience to help them with the exposure like I'm a huge advocate for
that and I don't care how heavy they are you know whatever if they're rock if
they're hardcore metal whatever it might be it's like you know what are they
local yeah are they good bring them on we want to have them with us you know
what I mean we've got a captive audience let's get them some exposure as best as
we can help that's our way of kind of giving back because we've all done it

(22:50):
we've all we've all done the grind and it's it's tough man I get it I remember
our first show like everybody was like yeah we got a show for you guys yeah
it's a Wednesday night and you guys go on at 430 and you have to bring at least
40 people so yeah we love supporting the originals because we've all done it
touring and all that so it's like you know what we're gonna keep running with

(23:12):
it and it's like well they're not another tribute band like we don't give
a shit you know they're friends of ours they're good guys the music is solid
they deserve an audience yeah but those Wednesday night shows are always awesome
yeah not anymore though not anymore we don't do Wednesday night shows anymore
so yeah Tim are there ever any stories that come up about Chris while you guys

(23:36):
are out playing that surprise you at this point in time no not at this point
in time we love having Chris he's he's he's just got the energy that keeps us
all going you know we play all the way and I met I met Chris keys in Manhattan

(23:56):
Fitness I was probably like I don't know 1617 I've known Chris Chris keys and
Opus for ever since I was a kid so that was that was your first run in with with
the two of them or that just is one of the many it was it was my first run in

(24:17):
with Chris keys and he was handing me gargantuan soul at Toad's Place tickets
he's like you got to come check this out I went there I was sold ever since I
was like wow this is incredible yeah were they working out in the place or
were they just hanging out in the front of the place at Toad's Place no no Chris

(24:39):
was Chris was giving me Chris Chris was giving me Toad's Place tickets at
Manhattan Fitness when I when I had first met him right he's like you got to
come check this band out he's like my band gargantuan soul and like I said I
went to Toad's and I like I said I was sold ever since and great guy great Opus
is great I've known like I said I've known him forever and they're my

(25:01):
brothers mm-hmm right on cool Brian how do you tie into all of this with metal
bands unite how how they get you involved with this well it's funny
because we always wanted to be a part of that scene but the group that I was

(25:22):
playing with didn't want to so you know we started playing how I was in my first
band when I was like 13 yeah I always looked up I went saw Chris play and this
huge field and you know downtown New Haven the place was completely packed
completely packed and he was he was out there crowd-surfing I was like I want to

(25:47):
be like yeah yeah just climbing on cars and climbing on rafters of the place it
was just incredible right out of control I was like that's fucking awesome you
know and then nowadays the group that we're playing with now the guys that I
got that are backing me up are insane and incredible all at the same time and

(26:08):
all get along with everyone so it's a big happy family at this point and
absolutely I couldn't be happier with this whole you know band unite you know
because same here don't do it no one else is gonna you know we've all played
the shows where we're playing for just the band it sucks but you don't give

(26:28):
up those bands the best show that you got and hopefully they become fans I'm
fans with all you guys you know I mean I watch what you guys all do I'm super
stoked to even be a part of anything man it's pretty wild especially with this
scene right now you know I mean I you guys know we've we played shows for for

(26:51):
just each other and then we've had shows where you're like you know holy shit
look at all the people you know and that's what we all strive for and then
you're just shocked you're just blown away when you actually see that because
you're not used to that. But with uniting you know we bring our fans you

(27:11):
guys bring your fans and and guess what they're all the same fans they all go to
all of our shows it's just a matter of getting them all together at the same
time which is which is why you know metal bands unite is is is doing that
quite well. Metal bands unite. What you know guys one thing I noticed is

(27:32):
especially Connecticut the scene has always I think in the 90s this thing
this thing was probably the strongest you know you had the Connecticut hardcore
scene and it was really really strong and then it started to kind of fizzle out
a little bit and now as we travel more whether we're in you know Massachusetts
New York New Jersey Virginia Delaware wherever we're traveling to there's a

(27:53):
huge demand for local original music and we did a show at a brewery in Mass was
right over the line in Massachusetts and there's a bunch of young guys young
young like high school guys they just didn't even have the high school
graduation yet they were like rounding third this was like their graduation
thing was a big send-off for them being called theater of Malam and these kids

(28:14):
were fucking amazing and these kids were only 16 17 years old and they're doing
their sound check their sound checking with seek and destroy I mean there's
sound checking with like stuff that you don't think a lot of these younger guys
would be dialed into and people coming in droves we were like the only there
was like like six bands on the belt only two of them were tribute bands

(28:36):
everyone else was all originals packed then we go to Albany and we're playing
the Empire in Albany and we had two or three openers and they were all
originals packed everyone they had a ton of people coming to see them so I think
demographics has a lot to do with it too that's one thing I've just noticed it
just seems like as soon as we cross state lines the support for original
music seems to just enhance I don't know what it is but it's just what I've seen

(28:59):
question about you guys but actually this is the reason we're doing this you
know eyes of Tia devil's hop yard the reason I I reached out to everybody to
start this because I get it back and Raphael is how um you know in this

(29:23):
documentary we're gonna start with Connecticut but actually we want to
reach out to the world because I right now unity has always been my message
some some people here talked about blind justice karmically Tony and I have been
you know brothers since a long time ago and literally unity is a universal word

(29:45):
we want to reach out beyond Connecticut I want to get back to be selling out
Toad's Place with all our bands together and then I want to reach out
and in the documentary I want to reach out to bands beyond Connecticut and
metal bands unite is a universal world global message hmm yeah that's great

(30:11):
is there a young guys is there is there a social media page dedicated to this
maybe I didn't catch it the bands unite page or anything like that if not
there's definitely should be cuz that that's not what it actually social
media is kind of like the way to do most promo for everything you know it's not
mean the days of stapling flyers the telephone poles long gone you gotta

(30:32):
gotta make this a movement for sure bro I love stapling the telephone pole
me too that's the old school way I love it
oh yeah go out and actually hand people flyers yeah yeah but yeah I mean we can
reach a lot of people online with social media you know it's yeah 100% you know

(30:54):
so if there's a page getting started I'm happy to jump in and help out and you
know help spread it and just it's like listen you don't have to be an original
band you don't have to be in a cup I mean obviously we're looking for a
certain genre or a vein of music but at the same time at the other day we're
all a bunch of local musicians trying to really enjoy this and make the most out
of it and get people to hear us right exactly yeah I think the biggest issue

(31:16):
with social media that you guys would have is the message that you guys are
trying to push is very positive you guys want to help one another you guys want
to help better the scene and the first thing you come across with social media
is somebody that will want to do the opposite by either you know slagging a

(31:38):
band maybe talk their own band up or whatever but what you guys are doing is
a lot more difficult and I think it means a lot more than just from Yahoo
typing on social media whether you know listen to my music or do this or do that
now you guys are actually with this concert just that on its own you guys

(32:03):
are trying to pull this together and trying to spark something that a lot of
people have a lot of people are talking about but not a lot of people trying to
make things happen so I think that is really important and something that you
know I think you guys really you know it's it's a big step and you if you guys

(32:27):
do start something up on social media you got to make sure that no one comes
along and tries to shit on it they're gonna do it but yeah you know just try
to try to buy again metal bands uniting by being united by being a united front
whether you have you know someone from the peanut gallery jumping in and

(32:48):
saying some stupid shit there's gonna be enough people there and enough people
that follow you guys that aren't gonna give a crap about what some idiot's
saying yeah so not only could be a good a good venue or a good platform to
promote the bands but it also could invoke a lot of conversation within the

(33:09):
bands you know sharing ideas like somebody's selling gear somebody's
looking for a new amp or somebody's looking to trade shows or looking for a
venue for a certain night because they're gonna be in that area so there's
that kind of organic growth you know that can happen even within a page like
that with the bands that are a part of it yeah I think it's all gonna start you

(33:31):
know like and and let's start at Saturday night I mean it I want to start
seeing bands standing in front of the stage for other bands yeah I don't I
hate floors when I see so many bands it's a simple stuff you know if I start
seeing you know what it's gonna make me believe you know what bothers me that I

(33:52):
see a lot too like when bands are on people are standing outside in the
parking lot like really come on or the bands leaves the band that goes on first
is gone before the band that goes on last even goes on that's another one or
that you know we got a support everybody you know like get inside watch these

(34:13):
bands play I mean what do you know you're not playing for their health you
know they want to play for people you know there's two prongs there one I
think bands around here are in competition with each other which needs
to stop and then yeah the other thing is you know that selfishness you know what

(34:35):
I'm not gonna go see that a lot further because I don't want to stand in front
of the stage but we need to do it it needs to be something that we do right
yeah absolutely you know this is a movement we were all supposed to be
working together yeah I want to jump in here and just say one thing guys because
you know fortunately for us we've played so many places everywhere and we see a

(35:00):
lot of the things that you guys are talking about but one I want to make
sure that everybody does for these still is to understand that we're selling a
commodity that people need to want to see so many bands that get on stage and
their weekend rock stars or whatever and they're really playing for themselves
and so I think it's important that we connect out to the audience and have a

(35:24):
product and this is something that Chris and I and all of us at ESP discuss
make sure that you have something that people want to see and that you're
cognizant of the fact that people did pay money to come see you and so they
need to get their money's worth and I'm sure you guys will be great this weekend
you know it's just I'm telling you about that we've seen and everything you've

(35:44):
mentioned we've seen it in times worse you know we've seen times when the
opening band was at home in bed by the time the third band was on and stuff so
it's like oh wow sure that we're working together and you know we're getting on
an airplane and come up there so we're not in a position to bring people from
Houston there those guys that are it starts with if everybody could just

(36:08):
bring a couple of people and you got 20 people in my each brain two or three
next thing you know you got a hundred people there now you got a show and it's
just one thing in all terms just really keep it you know in a small obtainable
goal it's funny that's one of the things that I want to mention on the
documentary because a couple things you just said one quality bands like the

(36:31):
bands on this stage on this sorry on this cast I'm rushing to Saturday night
on this podcast a lot of us you know I dirt I can tell you spends tens of
thousands of dollars on recording on our product on our merchandise I mean
everything we do we try to do other things so much so much money right next
to Metallica you know that cost money ESP is flying from Texas if anybody on

(36:59):
here thinks that they're gonna walk away from this making thousands of dollars
they're wrong it's an investment and and that's where people really need to
understand so that you know we could find that support from people so that
they know like one another thing that bothers me a lot is like a lot of our
shows you know we do sell pretty well but we'll have lots of people come and

(37:21):
go I know the band you know I want to get in free when when somebody hands me
something free I insist to pay for it just to support the band just that $25
for the t-shirt and and you know we just you know people need to understand that
you know quality costs money and you know we we really put huge investments

(37:45):
with very little return and again that's why bands like like us who've been doing
it for a long time you can rest assured there's a ton of passion going into it
and it's very important and connecting with the crowd like you just said is a
must because you know we want to keep doing what we love to do but we have to

(38:08):
make sure that the crowd is in love with what we're doing really you know really
passionate about what we're doing as well so again it comes to that quality
of material and the quality of performance yeah hell yeah people come
to a little they want to see something they never seen before we got to

(38:28):
continue doing that great great go out there and give it your all man that's
that's it give it your everything we got half-hour our top give it your
everything yeah hey guys I actually have to jump I have an appointment I have to
get to I have a six o'clock but this was awesome man this was great sharing the

(38:49):
time with you guys and I'd be happy to tell you these any anything that I could
do to assist help out in any way you know let me know you know and if we want
to get a social media page going or anything like that anything to support
the cause and just keep it going and try to build this ending up to work with me
I think that's a great idea all right I think to bring try to reach out if you're

(39:12):
local and kind of bring one or two people yeah let's make it a fun time and
and and I guarantee you if if you produce an atmosphere that's positive and
people are happy to be there and they feel cool about it you will have
something to work with and we see this all over I mean I love playing in
Hollywood so much because those people there they like to have a good time and

(39:34):
I think you guys do a good job of delivering that each night that we're
there so we're looking forward to being in Connecticut this weekend and seeing
all you guys I know you're amazing musicians and so we're gonna have time
and you know Victor and everybody for taking time to have us I've got to hop
off too I've actually got a crew on my house I still got holes in my hurricane

(39:57):
let's have a great time guys and you know I look forward and Victor again
thank you for giving us your time and your platform to talk about what oh yeah
appreciate it appreciate a lot hopefully I'll see a bunch you guys on Saturday
night I'll be there that's for sure I'll be there I'll be there Saturday night
absolutely all right talk soon guys and like I said let's let's keep it going

(40:21):
let's keep the momentum going we could do this oh yeah absolutely oh Chris is
Chris you're talking but we can't hear you
you can't hear him Marty you've been on here the entire time we haven't heard

(40:45):
from you how do you connect with with everything here well being the guitar
player from virtue and vices this is a first for me because this is gonna be a
show that I be playing at the cellar for the first time because I've never been

(41:07):
there so it's gonna be interesting now you'll love that place bro those guys
are all it's a great venue great venue well I mean I can't wait to see it and I
can't wait to see the bands and it's gonna be great yeah so should be a good

(41:28):
night but I I actually have to run as well unfortunately so I do apologize for
that but thank you for having me on here with you guys
I'll see you on Saturday see you Saturday guys take care of Victor
yeah can you hear me yeah now and now I can hear you are very cool and you know

(41:53):
so great two people that are very important are still up on the podcast
Devils Hopyard and eyes of tear I know all the way back from the AGC
posse you know agency posse was my in blind jump and my man here I's a tear

(42:16):
comes in during our peak of the tribe gargantua school I haven't changed
nothing about me fucking I'm here to start some shit I'm here to blow some
shit up and I give a shit about anything other than the music the music is my
life the music is my soul and that's what I'm for I bleed I'll die for this and

(42:38):
literally the message hasn't changed the AGC posse is still dope we are all part
of the same thing and I'm so happy to be coming home and re-establishing that I
want eyes of tea I want Devils Hopyard to be I want to sell out totes place with
less bands basically the last show I just did at both place it was packed

(43:00):
because Opus the dopest from dead by Wednesday does the same yeah I do he
goes no hands how holds Bard and he goes out and he goes you got to come so
literally I look forward to it post place out again just like back in the
day with my my two people right here we dirt with the engineer society project

(43:23):
with hand of the tribe which Scott Harrington is bringing to the table
virtues and vices basically making a scene that people believe in I started
a fire a long time ago and that fire has not stopped I'm coming home this is my
coming home show I want to see everybody yeah and it up yeah so the show is this

(43:47):
Saturday the 7th what time does the do doors open what time does the first band
go on so so before I get on to that I'm really glad to be connected to you you
know you've taken engineer society project on you've given us props for all
the material release and you're definitely going to be part of our

(44:08):
documentary it's not really our documentary and that's the thing once
again I want to take the backseat I basically everybody knows I'm the prophet
of the fire I start a spark and I want to give it to other people you know I
want to do a song with eyes of tea I want to do a song with Devil's Hopyard I
want to put our harmonies together so yeah variance the unity so that's

(44:32):
another thing I'm doing a song with dirt called metal bands unite and we can talk
about it all day but it wants to get up there and sing you singing it is what
it's got that vibration and coming in and go oh yeah all right all around the
world metal bands unite it's 6 p.m. doors open on Saturday night in Hampton

(44:59):
Connecticut it's like six blocks from where I used to live I used to live right
in the East Rock neighborhood I'm really excited coming home the place is called
the seller on Treadwell they've been reaching out to me and I want to start
there and I want to slowly build up and connect with etiquette bands show our
unity in this documentary and then start making it a worldwide thing you know when

(45:21):
I want to have eyes of tea out in Texas I want to have Devil's Hopyard to do a
little run with us when we play North Carolina I want to make this a movie
maybe first I want to set fire to this country and then I want to go back to
Europe engineered society project just some great things in Europe with Lord
Bishop and I want to go back there and maybe we go back there as metal bands

(45:42):
unite if this thing gets strong enough if we can get the message we start
traveling as a gang we start showing the world to see we can't change the world
I'm not a politician I can't change what's going on right now all I can do
is speak through and let people feel the vibration of the music that shows unity
and maybe that is an effect on some of the things that are going on around us

(46:05):
some of the things that are going around us I'm not going to get into politics
I'm not going to get into world crisis but I really want my music to be a
feeling that people have of unity while there is disunity surrounding us
absolutely fucking agree 100% bro oh yeah man 100% it all makes sense yeah

(46:34):
like I like I said before you need that spark you need that you know that
accommodation of like-mindedness and just try to move forward with it you know
the word Victor I am and forever shall be the motherfucking prophet of the fire

(46:56):
oh yeah finally and yeah Chris Keith yes on all of that we want to help in any
way we can and play all the plays absolutely brother yeah Devil's
Hopyard we're gonna be doing a song together and you know me and you Pete
are gonna be doing a song together just like this metal bands unite you guys

(47:17):
are in the documentary I want the documentary in your band room like
Raphael was talking about the struggle and Victor you know I want you you
support music I look at your website and what the energy you give us we want to
give it right back to you and have you be part of this movement with us man
we're in we're in absolutely all of us are in yeah absolutely fuck yeah yeah

(47:50):
so I you know the idea is awesome I'm so glad Chris that you threw this out idea
out there I'm glad we were able to get all these amazing people on the show
here today before we wrap things up here do you guys want to mention anything
that outside of the show that you want people to check out whether it's any

(48:15):
releases that you guys have out recently any any websites or anything on social
media that you yeah I want everybody to check out Isaiah's new album it's
badass make sure you guys so much brother definitely thank you thank you
yeah we just dropped an EP so it's it's going very well it's awesome it sounds

(48:36):
amazing cool thank you brother where can people pick it up um there's no hard
show original copies but I have these cards okay so on the back of it you
just scan that bad boy and it brings you to all our socials and the EP okay cool

(49:00):
so yeah I mean it seems it seems to be more of the movement now that
everything's just streaming online now so that's how we that's how we're doing
things I guess okay absolutely that was hot yeah what is it give us the scoop
what we are talking about vinyls so maybe okay because I see the vinyls are

(49:25):
coming back oh yeah absolutely vinyls awesome hell yeah that'd be sick Brian
how about your band well Devils Hop Yard has been doing some recording a lot of
it and I see that Brian it's oh yeah it's going very well it's a lot of work

(49:49):
I miss the days of just jamming in the band room and not having to follow a
metronome and it's just a lot easier it's a lot of work but it's coming out
amazing you guys are gonna dig on it for sure
what yeah can't wait maybe middle of April of 2025 we're thinking okay you

(50:16):
know by the time everything gets all said and done and and mixed and mastered
and all that stuff it's it's a lot of work yeah another one of the struggles
is it's very expensive as we all know so absolutely you know the trials and
tribulations of being a local metal band that you know how much money do you make

(50:40):
it not really enough to even pay for gas at that point so sometimes sometimes
no yeah everything everything is out of pocket so you do what you can and our
bass player is hooking us up because he built a studio so we're doing most of
the recording there and speaking out of pocket yeah we just shot a music video

(51:02):
so and all that comes out of pocket too right we got a music video coming out
for everything in so be on the lookout for that as well that's though you shot
and directed by Opus his wife Jessica Spinelli so she's uh she shot all of our
music videos and I just want to give her a shout out so yeah that's awesome bro

(51:25):
that's awesome oh yeah how about that'll be coming out soon Chris when are you
coming home okay on the with um with engineer society project I'll be I'll be
coming Thursday probably Saturday morning or something and I'm right now
um the scoop with engineer society project we just signed with Paul

(51:48):
Crosby management and we got a new music video coming out too and we're writing
some new stuff and uh but I'm really excited about metal bands unite I mean
that's the thing that puts the cream in my coffee it's literally the unity yeah
the movement literally I admire things that have happened in the history of

(52:09):
rock and roll and when I look at the movement of the 60s I mean the 60s
really was when and you see how it all sort of got I actually played Woodstock
and that was a complete and Woodstock 99 I saw that when you look at the
original Woodstock you see people doing what we're trying to do here we're

(52:32):
trying to show our unity and this be everybody at our shows together and
everything Raphael everything Tim said even Tony I mean that's Tony
ranzoni he is from he was in a band called karmic justice I think his band
still is called karmic justice and literally he's like my brother from like

(52:55):
a long time ago so literally I am coming home mama mama I'm coming I'm coming
home yeah I want to echo my family maybe even break some bread go to a
restaurant or something and connect with people but I think beginning the
documentary so there's gonna be so many interviews and really in this light

(53:17):
lifetime that's real important thing that this this sort of these sort of
revolutionary ideas of unity get expressed so that's really my focus is
that if they do begin the documentary and they are filming I want eyes of tea
I want Devil's Hopyard I want all the different bands Joe Delaney I'm dead by

(53:38):
Wednesday all the bands that are blood sweat and tears dirt all of us about
the air like you just said Brian man we're putting our we're putting our
hard-earned blood into this literally I want that to be expressed in my life
time that's what I want to be documented I want to be that we're in the struggle
and we're out here pushing it man metal bands unite and when you're feeling the

(54:01):
way you're feeling right that another we all have your back and that's what
makes us stronger when everybody knows hey man yeah bro yeah all the way in
fucking Texas and he's got my back and we can open up those venue start getting
down the North Carolina thing I'm gonna have everybody like looking at in North
Carolina down in Florida there's all the vicious rumors basically I basically am

(54:27):
networking out Raphael talked about it being focused on Connecticut but
Connecticut is where the spark is starting basically North Carolina
Florida no Tim was talking about Hollywood bands that are doing this in
Hollywood we are speed demon my boy speed demon Hollywood we are not alone

(54:48):
man we're metal bands are around the world wanting to unite our unity so
absolutely yeah the Florida move out that bring us to Texas it's gonna be a
worldwide thing metal I would love to go that's that's the plan that's the plan
it's all in the talks so we'll see is get this you know I want to come back I

(55:16):
want to see everybody break some bread get this thing started but then
eventually get back to Toast Place where we're selling that thing out and it's so
obvious that we now have to move on and we have to start expanding you know I
want it to be obvious when there's no room to move their elbows like wow this
is a worldwide thing and we have to start standing throughout the world man

(55:38):
I would love to sell out those plates I love I love playing toad's place man
love that club yeah back in legendary I used to sell Toast Place out two nights
in a row and for only like three opening bands Wow literally when we first Tony
was talking I'd be I'd be going on top of people's cars you know I was out

(56:01):
there and I was saying listen you got to come you got to see this I had to like
prove it to people that I really had something to say and once again it's
still about you know about the AGC posse it's still about the transcendental
Federation nation the tribe and gargantua soul I haven't changed man it's

(56:22):
just now that I'm reconnecting and I'm connecting to people that are about the
same thing and we're gonna talk through our music absolutely hell yeah excellent
I feel you there so we're gonna wrap things up here I do want to thank Chris
I want to thank Pete and Brian who are still here everyone else that yeah

(56:46):
during the show unfortunately Rick didn't get a chance to talk but yeah you
guys have to let me know how the how the show goes anytime you any you guys want
to come back and promote your stuff you're more than welcome to do so thank
you very much I very much appreciate it and thank you guys absolutely guys

(57:10):
thank you so much I just want to say real quick that in ten years when they
say well where the fuck did it all start they're gonna come back to this video
and they're gonna watch us for talking about it exactly
yeah and it's gonna be a plus for me there you go awesome yeah I do you want

(57:31):
hell of a party on Saturday I can't wait oh yeah brother fuck yeah
awesome thanks again for joining me and thanks anyone who's watching or listening
to this we'll see you next time right here on signals from Mars see you folks
