Speaker 1 (00:05):
One day two little kids named Harriet and Isaac
were getting ready to go to thepark.
Now they had put on theirclothes and they had found their
shoes and they were poppingthem on and as they were tying
their laces, they were gettingvery excited.
I can't wait to go to the park, said Harriet.
Me either, said Isaac.
It's going to be so much fun.
Alright, I think we're ready,let's go.

(00:27):
So they went to the front doorand they opened it, but what
they saw on the other side wasquite the surprise.
They looked and instead ofseeing what would normally be
out the front of their house, there was some kind of giant
hedge in front of them with anopening.
Um, what's going on?
Said Harriet.
I don't know, said Isaac.

(00:48):
It seems very strange.
As they were standing andlooking, all of a sudden a
purple, fuzzy creature camerunning out the middle of the
hedge.
Hello, he said it is me, thePimpin.
Pimpin, said Isaac.
What are you doing here?
Well, said Pim-pim, as you cansee, this is not the normal kind
of thing that you would expectto be at the front of your house

(01:10):
.
Welcome to the very special maze, the hedge maze.
A hedge maze, said Harriet.
What's a hedge maze doing infront of our house.
Well, I found some specialseeds in the backyard of my
house and I started plantingthem and then, before I knew it,
I had built some kind of verystrange maze out of all the
seeds.
But it turns out that they weremaybe some kind of magic seeds

(01:32):
that grow very quickly and theyhave grown into this giant hedge
maze, which means that we canhave some fun running around the
hedge.
But I also think that I mayhave left some other things in
there that I cannot remember.
What do you mean?
Things that you can't remember?
Said Harriet.
Well, I can't remember, so Idon't know.
Said Pimpin, oh dear.

(01:52):
Said Isaac.
Well, I guess we have to getthrough the hedge maze to be
able to get out of our house.
Hooray, said Pimpin, let's go.
He said running off straightdown the side path from the
hedge maze.
As he ran down, the kids turnedto follow.
And Uh-oh, said Pimpin, deadend.
Okay, try the other way.
He said as he turned around andran back past them.
He ran down a different side.

(02:13):
Where did he go?
Said Harriet, I don't know, webetter follow him.
Said Isaac, as they went tofollow.
All of a sudden he was runningback towards them.
Sorry, dead end again.
Okay, let's go this way, saidPimpim as he ran down the third
path.
The kids laughed and theystarted to follow along.
All right, they said we can dothis.
If we work together, we will beable to work our way through

(02:34):
the hedge maze.
So Harriet, isaac and Pimpimstarted walking down the
different paths, trying to workout which direction to go.
As they were walking along, pimpin was very, very excited.
He was going from side to sideto side trying to find the way
out.
Is it this way?
Is it this way?
Okay, is it this way?
Pimpin, you've already beendown that way and you know it's

(02:55):
dead end, dead end, dead end, dead end.
He said it's fun to say that.
Okay, dead end, dead end, deadend.
Okay, it is me, the Pim Pim.
Okay, we need to get out of thehedge maze, said Pim Pim.
We know, said Harriet and Isaac.
How are we going to do it?
Well, okay, I think if we keepwalking in this direction, pim

(03:15):
Pim, that's the dead end youjust came from.
You said that again Dead end, dead end, dead end, pim Pim,
said Isaac.
Oh, yeah, sorry, okay, maybe weneed to.
I don't really know.
As they were starting to try andwork out what to do to get
themselves out of the maze, theystarted to hear a noise.

(03:36):
Um, what was that?
Said Pimpin.
I don't know, said Harriet.
It sounded very strange.
Yeah, said Isaac, it seemed tobe coming from behind us.
As they turned around, itseemed like part of the hedge
had moved slightly.
What's that sticky outy bit inthe middle of the hedge?
Um, I don't know, said Pimpin, let's go see.

(03:57):
They went back to the stickyouty bit in the hedge maze.
Pimpin walked over and he pokedit.
Did that just make a noise?
Said Harriet.
I think it did, said Isaac, I'mgonna poke it again.
Pimpin poked it again.
What is that?
Said Isaac.
Isaac went over to have acloser look.
Maybe I should poke it too.
Don't poke me.
Did it just talk?

(04:19):
Said Harriet.
Of course I talked.
Said whatever it was that wasin front of them.
Um, excuse me, said Isaac, whoare you?
The piece of sticky-outy hedgeturned around and it had a face.
And it turns out it had armsand legs as well.
Well, my name is Hedgie.
I was trying to hide up againstthis bit of the hedge, but you
have discovered me.

(04:40):
Oh, hello, hedgie, said Pimpin.
Um, maybe you need to tell ushow to get out of here.
I don't know how to get out ofhere.
I only just grew.
You only just grew, what do youmean?
Well, I'm made out of hedge, and when you planted those seeds
, I'm guessing that I grew outof one of those special seeds.
Oh, yes, that must have beenthe bag with the smiley face on

(05:03):
it.
Um, Pimpin, how many of thesmiley face seeds did you plant?
Um, I don't remember, saidPimpin, but at least three.
Well, said Hedgie, maybe weshould try and find my friends.
Um, how do you know thatthey're your friends?
Um, I don't know.
We came out of the same packet, said Hedgie.
Well, said Harriet, let's tryand work out how to get through

(05:29):
this maze.
Okay, said Hedgie, hang on,I'll try something.
Hedgie put his plant hand intothe other part of the hedge and
he started to touch thedifferent leaves.
Oh, I think he is talking tothe leaves using his leaf hands.
Is that what you are doing?
No, said Hedgie, I was justseeing if this part was alive
too.
I was trying to tickle it.
Oh dear, said Isaac.

(05:50):
Come on, let's start walking.
Hopefully we can find our wayout.
So Harriet, isaac, hedgie andPimpin all started walking in
the new direction.
As they walked along, they weretrying to listen for other
noises.
We heard the noise first, somaybe if we listen carefully,
said Harriet, we might hear moreof the hedge people that have
been growing out of the hedge.

(06:11):
Oh, very good idea.
Or we could do this, saidPimpin, as he dove into the side
of the hedge.
It's prickly in here, saidPimpin.
Can somebody help me get out?
I can help you, said a voice.
Who said that?
I think it's another hedgy.
My name's not hedgy, said thevoice.

(06:32):
My name is Hedge-o, hedge-o.
Okay, excuse me, hedge-o, canyou push me out of the maze?
Okay, yes, okay, said Hedge-E,I'll help too.
Are you ready?
Yes, I'm ready.
One, two, three push.
And with a giant shove.
The two hedge people workedtogether and said Pim-Pim, as he

(06:55):
went flying out of that sectionof hedge, over one other
section of hedge and landed in adifferent area.
Hello, said Pimpin, I think I'min the wrong position now.
Uh-oh, said Harriet, we've gotto try and find him.
I think it's this way, saidPimpin, as he started running
off in a different direction.
Oh dear, said Isaac, we bettergo try and find him quick.

(07:18):
So the two hedge people andIsaac and Harriet started
walking through the maze tryingto work out how to get to where
Pimpin was.
The trouble was, pimpin wasalso on his own exciting
adventure because he had found anew excitement for running down
every single path in the hedgemaze.
I'm going this way and thenthis way, and then this way, and
you Uh-oh, said the kids, let'sbe quick.

(07:40):
So they started to run.
Hedge-o, do you know how to getout of here?
Oh, yes, I do.
If you go this way and thenthat way and then this way, um,
where, follow me?
Said Hedge-o.
Hedge-o started running andhedgy and harriet and isaac all
started running behind him.
As they ran and they ran andthey ran, they turned down all

(08:02):
the different paths, they weavedthrough all the different
alleyways until they came outthe other side of the hedge maze
.
We've done it, said harriet.
Yay, said isaac.
Hooray said, said Hedge-o.
Hooray, said Hedgie.
But what about Pim-Pim?
Said Harriet.
Oh, dear, said Isaac.
We're going to have to go backin and find him.

(08:23):
But how are we going to makesure that we can get back out?
Maybe I can help, said anothervoice.
Who said that?
Said Isaac.
They looked around and theycould see at the edge of the
hedge maze was wow, he's a tallhedge person.

(08:50):
Hello, who are you?
Said Harriet.
My name is Bushy and I am thebiggest hedge person in the
whole entire hedge.
I think I've only been alivefor about 25 minutes, but I
haven't seen any other big hedgepeople like me.
As he started to stand uptaller and taller, they realised
that he was taller than theentire hedge maze itself.
Hang on, I'll have a look.
Actually, I can't see that good, can you kids climb up to have

(09:14):
a look?
Um, okay, said Harriet.
Yeah, said Isaac, that could befun.
So Isaac and Harriet started toclimb up.
Bushy, oh, that tickles.
Oh, he said as the kids climbedall the way up to his shoulders
.
As they sat on top of hisshoulders, they could see the
entire hedge maze and they couldsee Pimpin in the middle.

(09:37):
I'm going this way, I'm goingthis way and I go this way.
And oh, maybe I go this way.
As he was running around, theyrealised that he was completely
lost.
Pimpin, yelled Harriet, I foundanother dead end, said Pimpin.
That's not what you're meant tobe doing.
You're meant to be trying toget out, said Isaac.

(09:58):
Um, but I like to say dead end.
Look, I found another dead end.
Said Pimpin, I think we're goingto have to go in and get him.
Actually, I've got an idea.
Hey, hedgie and Hedgeho, yes, yes, can you guys go in?
If we sit up here, we can tellyou which direction to go to

(10:18):
find Pimpin, and then maybe thetwo of you can grab a hold of
him and bring him back out.
Okay, okay, yeah, I'll helptell you where to go to.
Said Bushy, go upside down.
Um, that's not quite how itworks.
Said Harriet, you've got totell them directions.
Do you know your lefts andrights?
Um, that's not quite how itworks.
Said Harriet, you gotta tellthem directions.
Do you know your lefts andrights?
Um, um, not really.

(10:41):
Said Hedgie, me either, saidHedge-O.
Um, well, I'll tell you thatway or that way.
Said Harriet, pointing with herhands.
You'll be able to see us.
Okay, said Hedge-E, let's go.
So Hedge-E and Hedge-O startedrunning into the maze and
Harriet and Isaac started givingthem directions.
Go that way, that's your leftOkay.

(11:03):
Go that way, that's your rightOkay.
Go that way, that's your rightOkay.
And as they went in further andfurther and further, they
eventually caught up to PimpinDa-dand, da-dand, da-dand,
da-dand, da-dand, da-dand,da-dand, da-dand, da-dand,
da-dand.
He was singing Pimpin, it'stime for you to come with us,
please.
Um, okay, said Pimpin.

(11:25):
But first he ran off in adifferent direction.
Catch him, yelled Isaac.
Hedgy and Hedge-O startedrunning after Pimpin.
Hang on, let's give him a bighedge cuddle.
Yeah, let's do it.
Can I come give him a cuddletoo?
Said Bushy.
No, said the kids, you need tostay here so that we can see.
Oh, okay, I'll give him acuddle when he's out, said Bushy

(11:46):
.
No, said the kids, you need tostay here so that we can see.
Oh, okay, I'll give him acuddle when he's out, said Bushy
.
And with that, hedgie andHedge-O set up at either ends of
the two dead ends that Bim-Bimwas running between, and they
started to walk closer together.
Uh-oh, said Bim-Bim, um, whyare you coming towards me?
What are you doing?
We're coming, yeah, we'recoming.

(12:09):
And they got closer and closer.
No, what are you doing?
Hey, stop that.
No, hedge cuddle, they said.
And they both grabbed a hold ofPimpin and gave him a big
squeezy cuddle.

As he leant down and, with hisarms as wide as they could be,
he cuddled all of them up in onebig cuddle and squeezed.

(13:14):
Oh yeah, they said, as they gotsqueezed by Bushy's big, bushy
arms.
All right, said Harriet.
We've made it through the hedgemaze and it's been lots of fun,
but it's time for us to go tothe park.
