Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome to Silly
Stories for Kids from the car, a
special episode recorded livewhile I'm driving home.
I hope you enjoy it.
Little kids named Rowan andMilo were sitting in their
backyard.
Now, as they were sitting, theywere waiting for something.
(00:27):
They didn't quite know what, but a letter had arrived in
their letterbox a few daysbefore.
It said Dear Milo and Rowan, there is a very special surprise
coming your way.
We hope you enjoy it.
Make sure that you are sittingon your back deck at exactly
4.50pm.
From anonymous I wonder whoit's from, thought Milo.
(00:54):
I have no idea, said Rowan, butwe need to make sure that we're
sitting there at the exact righttime to wait and see.
So here they were, sitting ontheir back deck, waiting for
something that they had no ideawhat it was.
As they were sitting, all of asudden, first thing they heard
was a noise Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
What is that noise?
Said Rowan.
I don't know, said Milo.
(01:15):
They looked around to try andsee.
There was nothing that theycould see coming from anywhere.
They looked all around untileventually Rowan looked up and
as he did, he spotted somethinghigh in the air.
Um, milo, look up.
As Milo looked up he saw.
(01:36):
Is that a spaceship?
Said Milo.
It is, said Rowan, and sittingin the spaceship was a little
green alien.
Hello, my name is Beeple.
Did you get my letter?
Uh, yes, said Rowan.
We did.
Yeah, said Milo.
We were sitting at the exactright time.
Yes, I'm very sorry, I was fourseconds late.
(01:58):
Um, we didn't notice, said Milo.
We didn't notice, said Milo.
Oh, that is good, said thealien.
My name is Beepo.
Did you hear me say that?
Yes, we did, beepo.
Why did you send us that letter?
Because I need two kids, justlike you, to come with me on a
very special adventure.
(02:20):
Would you like to come, saidBeepo.
Yes, please, said Rowan.
Definitely, said Milo.
So, as they were sitting, beeposent down a very special
tractor beam that picked them upfrom their sitting place and
brought them into his spaceship.
Hooray, he said, uh, hooray, said the kids.
(02:40):
Well, are you ready?
First thing you need to do islearn how to fly my spaceship.
Learn how to fly it, said Rowan.
Why?
Because part of the veryspecial adventure that we're
going on will involve youneeding to fly the spaceship.
But why, said Milo?
(03:01):
Because it's fun, said Beepo.
Oh, are you ready?
Uh, yes, said Rowan.
I think so.
Um, I've never flown aspaceship before, said Milo.
Don't worry, said Beepo, it iseasy, easy.
As the boys looked, they saw allkinds of buttons and levers and
(03:22):
knobs and everything all overthe giant control panel.
But, beepo, they said, there'sso many buttons and so many
things, how will we learn whatthey all do?
Well, most of them are actuallypretend.
They are actually just for fun.
You can press any button youlike.
Really, said Rowan.
(03:44):
Really, said Beepo.
So Rowan leant forward and wasabout to press a button.
No, not that one, said Beepo.
Oh sorry, said Rowan.
No, I was just tricking.
The kids laughed Okay, I'mgoing to press some of the
buttons.
So they started to pressdifferent buttons in the
spaceship.
It was a lot of fun.
They made different beeps andsounds and all kinds of things.
(04:06):
But, beepo, if all these buttonsare pretend, how do we fly the
spaceship?
This spaceship has a veryspecial setting.
All you need to do is thinkwhere you want to go.
Really, said the kids.
Really said Beepo, watch this,I will think about heading
towards the moon.
Ah, okay, said the kids.
Really said Beepo, watch this,I will think about heading
(04:26):
towards the moon.
Okay, said the kids.
Then Beepo started to think andas he did, the spaceship lifted
off.
It started heading directlyupwards, straight towards.
We're heading to the moon, saidthe kids.
Yes, you are Now.
Would you like to try?
Okay, they said.
But how do we know where wewant to go?
(04:48):
Well, I will tell you.
Seeing we are at the moon, let'sgo to the next planet after
Earth.
Do you know what that is?
Said Beepo.
Um, I don't think so, said Milo.
Is it Mars?
Said Rowan.
It is Mars.
Okay, okay, rowan, you can dothe flying this time.
(05:09):
All you need to think about isMars.
Okay, he said.
And so, with that, rowan beganto think about the planet Mars.
He knew it was red and hedidn't really know exactly where
it was.
But as he began to think, thespaceship began to move.
It's working, said Beepo.
How do I know if I'm going theright direction, said Rowan.
(05:30):
Look at the screen, said Beepo.
So Rowan looked at the screenand, sure enough, he could see a
dot on the screen that theywere getting closer to.
Is that dot Mars, said Rowan.
It is, said Beepo.
Hooray, he said.
But now, if we're heading toMars, is that where we're meant
to be going?
No, the next place that we needto be going.
(05:52):
Only I know where it is.
Okay, said the kids.
So are you going to fly usthere?
Definitely, said Beepo.
But while I do, can you pressas many buttons as you can?
Okay, said the kids.
So the kids began to pressevery button they could possibly
see on the entire control paneland Beepo started to fly the
(06:14):
spaceship using his thinking.
As the spaceship flew and thekids pressed buttons, the trip
went very quickly until theycould see a planet that was
getting closer.
Is that where we're heading?
Said Milo.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
It is said Beepo.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Hooray cheered the
kids as the spaceship zoomed
down towards the planet andlanded on its surface.
The doors slowly opened.
Um Beepo, said Rowan.
Yes, said Beepo, you haven'ttold us what we're here for.
Oh, it is a very, very specialmission.
I need your help because it isso important, said Beepo.
(06:53):
What's so important about it,said Milo, you will see, said
Beepo.
So Beepo started to lead the wayand as the kids stepped out of
the spaceship, the planet wasincredible.
It was completely purple, avery strange colour purple.
They watched as little thingsstarted to pop out of the ground
(07:13):
.
It was like strange plants weregrowing in an instant.
They would pop up and grow andthen they would lift into the
air, and then they would spinaround and then disappear.
Meanwhile, more of the veryspecial plants would grow up out
of the ground and disappear.
"'okay, it is this way', saidBeepo, as he was holding some
kind of special tool that seemedto have a map on it.
(07:35):
"'okay', said the kids.
They started following Beepo.
Everywhere they walked, thelittle spinny things kept
popping up out of the ground anddisappearing.
"'what are those things?
Things, said Milo.
Oh, they are the native plantsof this planet.
They are called poppydisappearing whoopies.
That's a funny name, said Milo.
I know, said Beepo.
(07:55):
I made it up myself.
But, beepo, you still haven'ttold us why we're here or where
we're going.
You will see, said Beepo, as hecontinued to lead the kids
going.
You will see, said Bebo, as hecontinued to lead the kids.
As they walked up over the topof a purple little hill and
looked down at the other side, they could see something strange
.
There were all these funnylooking rocks that were kind of
(08:18):
like crystals.
They were slightly see-throughand slightly coloured.
This was the first thing theyhad seen on the planet that was
not completely purple.
They had some strange streaksof blue through the middle.
We are here, said Beepo.
What is this?
Said Rowan.
Ah, yes, I haven't told you,but you will find out in the
(08:41):
best kind of way, said Beepo.
Really, what's he talking about?
Said Milo.
I don't know, said Rowan.
Let's keep following.
So the kids followed Beepo downthe other side of the hill and
they walked over to the first ofthe funny blue looking crystals
.
Ah yes, this is where I needyour help, said Beepo.
(09:01):
What do we need to do?
Said Rowan.
Beepo pressed a button and outof his pocket came two very big
hammers.
You need to smash it, saidBeepo.
What said Rowan?
How come?
You will see, you will see, youwill see, said Beepo.
So Rowan and Milo took a hammereach and they started to swing
(09:21):
it down towards the blue crystal.
As Milo's hammer hit, and theystarted to swing it down towards
the blue crystal, as Milo'shammer hit, part of the blue
crystal shattered into smallerpieces.
And as Rowan's hammer hit, itsmashed into even more pieces.
"'hooray', said Beepo.
"'why are we smashing thesecrystals', said Rowan.
"'have a taste'.
"'taste', said Rowan.
(09:42):
"'what are you talking about'.
"'try it, try it, try it.
So the boys bent down andpicked up one of the little
pieces each and popped it intheir mouth.
It's the most delicious tastinglolly I think I've ever had.
Called Rowan very, very loudly.
Yippee, said Milo.
I told you it is so much fun.
(10:03):
Smash some more, smash somemore, said Beepo.
So the boys began to smash andsmash, and smash and smash.
They smashed so many of thecrystals into tiny little pieces
.
What now?
Said Rowan, now we need tocollect it.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Oh said the boys.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Okay.
Beepo pulled out another twothings from his pocket.
They were bags, and they usedthe bags to fill with all the
little pieces of the specialblue crystal.
This is so much fun.
They kept eating tiny littlebits as they went.
It was sweet and delicious andabsolutely amazing.
(10:42):
This is so much fun, said Rowan.
Yes, said Milo.
But what are we going to dowith all this?
Oh, yes, that is the veryspecial part of the mission.
All right, are all the bagsfull?
Full, said Beepo.
Um, I think so, said the kids, trying to stuff more into the
last little bits.
Okay, it is time for us to go.
(11:05):
So the kids followed Beepo allthe way back to the spaceship
and they lifted the bags in.
They were very heavy and ittook all their might to lift
them onto the spaceship.
Once they were all in, beeposat down in a different chair.
Okay, it is your turn to fly.
Why is it our turn to fly?
Said Rowan.
Because, said Beepo, I want toeat lollies on the way home.
(11:28):
The boys laughed and Rowan satin the pilot's seat.
Where are we going, he said.
Home, said Beepo.
Rowan knew his home well, sothat is what he thought of.
And as he did.
The spaceship lifted up andstarted to sail through the air.
It started to boost out of theplanet's atmosphere and started
(11:49):
blasting back through space thewhole way home.
They took turns eating littlepieces of the special lolly and
pressing all the buttons on thecontrol panel.
Pieces of the special lolly andpressing all the buttons on the
control panel.
As they flew back into theEarth's atmosphere and cruised
back down towards Rowan's house, beepo stopped.
Oh, we better drop this offfirst before I send you home.
(12:11):
Oh, where do we need to drop itoff?
Don't worry, I will fly forthis bit, said Beepoo, and he
took control of the spaceship.
They zoomed over towards a shop,a funny looking lolly shop that
had a tiger's face on the frontdoor.
Hey, beepo, said the tiger ashe came outside.
Oh, hello, tiger pal.
(12:32):
Oh, I'm so glad.
Have you got some speciallollies for my new lolly shop?
I do, said Beepo.
What are they called?
They are called Lippy LoppyParty Poppies.
Oh, that sounds amazing.
Tiger Power took one of thepieces of the crystal out of one
of the bags and had a taste.
Oh, Beepo.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
These are the nicest
things ever.
Everybody's going to come fromall over the planet to taste
these.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yes, not just the
planet, maybe all over the
universe.
Hooray, said Tiger Pal, mylolly shop is going to be even
more of a success.
Okay, boys, said Beepo, best tohead home.
Milo, would you like a turn atflying the spaceship?
Uh, yes, please, said Milo.
Hooray, said Beepo.
(13:19):
So as they all climbed into thespaceship, milo sat in the pilot
seat and as he thought abouthome, the spaceship started
heading that direction.
But Milo got a little bitdistracted.
He started thinking about thepark as well, and the spaceship
turned sideways at the very lastminute.
Whoa, where are we going, saidBeepo.
Oh sorry, said Milo.
I was thinking about the park.
(13:40):
Oh okay, said Beepo, let's gothere.
So they went to the park and hada quick play before heading
back home.
As they landed, beepo pulledtwo little bags out from
underneath the seat he wassitting on.
What's this, said Rowan, Isaved some of the very special
lollies just for you.
Hooray, cheered the kids.
(14:02):
Thank you, Beepo.
No, thank you.
It has been very much fun.
We'll see you next time.
They said Bye-bye, said Beepo, jumping back into his spaceship
and flying away.
As they walked back in the doorof their house, their mummy was
there waiting.
Well, boys, how was it?
Where did you go?
What did you find?
(14:22):
