Speaker 1 (00:05):
One day, four little
kids named Charlie, hunter,
Elodie and Paddy were allsitting at home.
Now, this was a very specialtime of day where they had to be
super duper quiet because theirparents were actually recording
a podcast.
Now, as their parents were inthe other room, the kids could
hear them talking.
They were talking about allkinds of strange things that the
kids didn't really understand, but they knew their job be very
(00:27):
quiet and stay out of trouble.
Okay, said Charlie, we need tomake sure that we stay extra
quiet.
This is a very important one.
Yes, said Hunter, we definitelyneed to stay as quiet as
possible.
Paddy was getting very excitedand starting to play with a few
of the toys.
Um, paddy, said Elodie, makesure that you're very, very
quiet.
Why are you trying to be soquiet?
(00:48):
They heard a voice.
Who said that?
Said Charlie.
They looked around the room.
I think that quiet is veryoverrated, said the voice.
Um, who's saying that?
Said the kids.
Well, it is actually as he wastalking.
All of a sudden, somethingjumped out from behind the couch
.
Well, it is actually as he wastalking.
All of a sudden, somethingjumped out from behind the couch
, a purple, fuzzy creature.
(01:08):
Who are you?
Said Elodie, my name is thePim-Pim, said Pim-Pim, and I am
here to make sure that you havelots and lots of fun.
As Pim-Pim was talking, theycould hear their mummy and their
daddy in the other room.
Shhh, um, you need to be veryquiet.
Pimpin, said Elodie.
Yes, said Hunter, mummy andDaddy are recording in the other
room.
Well, I think if they arerecording that, maybe we should
(01:29):
do our own recording as well.
That could be fun.
What do you mean, said Charlie.
Well, let's do our own veryspecial podcast.
What do you think Could that befun?
Um, maybe, said Elodie.
Definitely, said Paddy,definitely, definitely,
definitely.
He said dancing around the room, I like this kid.
Okay, let's do our own podcast.
Okay, first of all, we need toset up our very special studio.
(01:51):
Um, how are we going to set upa studio, said Charlie.
Don't worry, said Pimpin, Ibrought all of my own gear.
Oh, that's great, said Charlie.
Um, do you need any helpcarrying it?
Well, definitely, said Pimpin, come with me.
So the kids followed Pimpin outthe front door out to a very
strange looking van, and in theback of the van they could see
(02:15):
all kinds of funny looking boxesand all kinds of cases and
lights and all sorts of things.
Um, that's a lot of stuff, saidElodie.
Yes, said Hunter.
That's so much stuff, hence whyI need you to come help me
carry it all inside.
Okay, everybody, pick up a box, said pim pim.
So pim pim and the kids allstarted carrying everything in,
box by box by box.
There was so many differentboxes and as the kids were
(02:36):
carrying them in, some of theboxes appeared to be moving as
well.
Um, pim pim, my box is moving alittle bit, or keep that one
quiet, said pim pim.
Whatim, what do you mean?
Keep it quiet, said Allie.
Is it alive?
Uh, yes, it is definitely alive.
So keep that box closed.
Okay, put that one in thecorner, said Pimpim.
The kids carried in all theboxes and suitcases and things
(02:57):
and put them all in the spacethat Pimpim had decided was
perfect for podcasting.
Okay, first thing aboutpodcasting and doing the
recordings is we need to makesure that the room is very, very
silent.
That means lots ofsoundproofing.
Okay, I need everybody to getevery pillow in the whole entire
house.
Um, okay, so the kids, let's go.
So the kids raced out to findthe pillows in the house.
(03:18):
They went into every room andpulled off every single pillow,
off every bed.
What about couch cushions, saidHunter.
Oh, yes, good thinking, saidPimpin, grab all the couch
cushions.
So the kids started pulling offall the cushions from all the
couches.
Once they had pulled off allthe pillows and all the cushions
, they looked around.
Um, this is not enough, saidPimpin.
We need more soundproofing.
Okay, go get all the mattresses, said Pimpin.
(03:41):
Okay, said the kids.
They all went off and workedtogether.
Charlie and Elodie werecarrying one mattress, while
Hunter and Paddy were trying tocarry another one.
Pimpin ran around the housepulling off everything soft he
could possibly find.
He found the mat and a fewdonors, and then he even tried
to grab the dog and bring in thedog as well.
Bonnie was not impressed, butPimpin positioned Bonnie, the
(04:02):
golden retriever, in the cornerof the room.
Okay, doggy, you stay here.
You're going to be our basetrap.
Okay, make sure you catch allthe big bassy notes from the
recordings.
Okay, the dog was very confused, but it laid down anyway and
stayed very, very still.
The kids were so excited as theywere starting to set up the
room.
They put the pillows all aroundthe space until it was like
they were inside a giantcushiony pillow fort.
(04:24):
This is fun.
Pimpin, said Elodie, oh, wheredo we really start?
What do you mean?
Said Hunter.
This is looking pretty good.
Yes, said Charlie.
Oh, no, this is just theoutside cone for the
soundproofing.
What do you mean?
The outside cone?
We need to fill it with thereal soundproofing, said Pimpin.
What's the real soundproofing, said the kids Pimpin.
What's the real soundproofing?
Said the kids.
Pimpin raced over to one of theboxes and he pulled out some
(04:46):
kind of strange looking canPimpin?
What is that?
Said Charlie.
Oh, this is the very specialsoundproofing spray.
Okay, here you hold on to this,Paddy.
I don't think you should giveit to Paddy.
That's probably not a greatidea.
He's very little.
Oh, yes, I know, that is why weuse him.
He can get in all the tightlittle spaces.
Okay, paddy, go, yelled Pimpin.
(05:07):
And with that Paddy startedrunning around the soundproofing
area spraying the special sprayinto every corner.
It looked like a little finefilm.
Oh, it's not too bad, saidCharlie.
But then the film started togrow.
It was like some kind ofstrange cloud that started to
get bigger and bigger and bigger.
Pim-pim, the room's fillingwith the cloud stuff.
Uh-oh, said Pim-pim, we mayhave used a little bit too much.
(05:30):
Okay, quick, kids, push it allinto the corners.
Okay, said the kids.
So they all worked together andstarted pushing all the foamy,
fluffy stuff into all thecorners of the special pillow
fort.
They pushed as hard as theycould.
It's still growing, said Elodie.
Okay, work faster.
Said Pimpin.
Push, push, push, he said.
And as they started to push, they realized the biggest
problem in the scenario Paddywas still spraying more of it
(05:53):
everywhere.
Uh-oh, paddy, please stop, saidPimpin.
Uh, okay, said Paddy.
Psh, psh, psh, paddy, are youstill spraying?
Uh, maybe, said Paddy.
Paddy said Pimpin, you need topause.
Okay, said Paddy, and Paddy putdown the can.
While they were pushing andworking as hard as they could,
the kids continued to stuff thespaces until it is so quiet in
(06:14):
here, said Hunter, so, so quiet, said Elodie, I can hardly even
hear my own voice.
Said Charlie, that is perfect, said Pimpin.
Now we can be as loud as wewant, and that means it is time
for the microphones.
Uh, okay, said the kids Pimpin.
And the kids went over to tryand find the other boxes.
Uh-oh, said Pimpin, what do youmean?
(06:35):
Uh-oh, said the kids.
Well, boxes.
Uh-oh, said Pimpin, what do youmean?
Uh-oh, said the kids.
Well, we did the soundproofingbefore.
We got all the boxes in theright location.
We need to find them now.
They appear to be hiddensomewhere within all the
soundproofing fluffy stuff.
Oh, dear, said the kids, whatare we gonna do?
Um, let's go finding, saidPimpin.
He raced to the side of thepillow enclosure and dove very
quickly into all the fluff.
(06:56):
Where'd he go, said Elodie.
I don't know, said Charlie, heseems to be gone.
And then he popped out in acompletely different location.
Ah, said Charlie.
As Pimpin popped out next tohim, I found the box.
He brought it back to themiddle.
Okay, kids, you need to do someof the finding as well.
You go dive into all thedifferent spaces and see what
happens.
Okay, said the kids.
(07:16):
And so they raced around thepillow area, diving into
different corners to try andfind different boxes.
As they dived in, they wouldswim around until they felt
something cardboard, and thenthey would grab, hold and try
and climb back out.
As they pulled all thedifferent boxes out, pimpin
began to count One, two, seven, four, eight, three, two, nine,
one.
Pimpin, what are you doing?
I am trying to do my counting, but I'm not very good at it yet,
(07:39):
so I'm just guessing that maybewe got all the boxes.
I hope so, said the kids.
Okay, it is microphone time.
I think that is this box overhere, said Pim Pim, as he
reached over and picked up oneof the boxes.
As he opened it up, somethingjumped out.
What is that?
Said the kids.
Uh-oh, that was the box that wewere not meant to open.
What is it?
(08:01):
Said Paddy, it is thecompression.
What do you mean?
It's the compression, saidHunter.
He likes to go around.
And, said Elodie, as she wasgetting squished, he's squeezing
me as tight as he can.
Yes, he likes to compressthings.
Look out, as it was runningaround.
It would grab onto something andsqueeze it as tight as it could
, said Charlie, as he wasgetting completely squished.
It can really squeeze.
(08:22):
Yes, it is very useful at sometimes, but not at other times.
So we need to catch him.
How do we catch him?
Said Elodie, you need to catchhim and give him a squeeze.
Okay, said Hunter, as thecompression was diving towards
him.
Hunter dove out and grabbed itas tight as he could.
It slowed down and it stopped.
(08:42):
Okay, quick, put him backinside the box.
Okay, said the kids, and sothey stuffed it back inside the
box and closed it up again.
They could hear inside the boxSpray some of the soundproofy
stuff.
We don't want to be able tohear him, said Pimpin.
Okay, said the kids.
So they sprayed some of thesoundproofing stuff over the top
of the compression box and itwas quiet.
Now where were those microphones?
(09:03):
Said Pimpin, and so he startedlooking.
I'm pretty sure it is this one,he said this time he opened it
very slowly to look inside.
Um, yes, this is it, saidPimpin.
Okay, kiddies, let's open upthe microphones.
As he opened up the box, thekids pulled them out.
These don't look like normalmicrophones, said Hunter.
No, not at all, said Charlie.
(09:24):
I know, said Pimpin, becausethese are the special
microphones.
They do voice-changing thingsand everything.
Uh, really, said the kids.
Yes, we need to do lots andlots of the fun.
Okay, here you go, paddy.
Pimpin handed one of themicrophones over to Paddy.
Paddy picked it up.
I like this microphone.
That could be very.
Oh no, everybody, said Paddy.
The kids all laughed.
Paddy, listen to your voice.
(09:45):
I know it's a moving tape, saidPaddy, making all the funny
noises.
Let me try one, said Hunter.
Here you go.
Hunter, said Pimpin, as hethrew a microphone across to him
.
Hunter picked up the mic andlooked into it.
Hello, did you hear that, saidHunter.
I did, said Elodie.
Do it again.
Hello everybody, I like thismicrophone because it makes me
(10:07):
sound very, very high-pitched.
Whee, said Hunter.
I like this one.
That is so much fun.
What about me, said Elodie, canI try one too?
Sure, said Pimpin, as he threwanother mic over to her.
Elodie caught the mic and shestarted to talk.
Hello, wow, my microphone isvery, very quiet.
She said yes, it is quiet.
(10:29):
Try to yell as loud as you can, said Pimpin.
They could hardly hear her atall.
Um, pimpim said Charlie, that'snot going to work for the
podcast.
We won't be able to hearanything that Elodie has to say.
Oh yes, said Pim Pim.
Hang on, elodie, I will try theother mode.
Okay, said Elodie into themicrophone.
(10:51):
Pim Pim reached down the bottomof the microphone and started to
twist a dial.
As he twisted it up, he saidOkay, elodie, give it a go and
see.
Okay, oh no, that is too loud.
Sorry, pimpim, yelled Elodie.
I'm trying to whisper asquietly as I can.
Okay, hang on, I do theadjusting.
Pimpim started adjusting themicrophone once more.
(11:12):
He twisted it all the wayaround.
I think that is uh, okay, therewe go, said Bim Bim.
The kids all laughed.
I think that's.
Oh, that's perfect, said Elodie.
That's a much better volume.
Yes, okay, and you can changeit whenever you need.
What about me?
Said Charlie.
Oh, yes, I saved thismicrophone for you.
Charlie picked up the microphone.
Um, I'm not sure I want to tryit.
(11:34):
What does it do?
Um, I don't remember, said BimBim.
Well, said Charlie, I guess wecan only try.
So Charlie picked up themicrophone, held it up to his
mouth and began to talk.
Hello, everybody, I am talkinginto the microphone and it seems
to be making my voice go up anddown, he said.
(11:54):
The kids all laughed.
Okay, said Pimpim, I think weare ready to record our podcast.
Are you kids ready?
Um, I think so.
They said, okay, everybody pickup their microphone and we are
going to do some very sillythings.
So the kids each picked uptheir microphone and held it up
to their mouth.
What are we going to talk abouton the podcast, said Ality.
(12:15):
Well, said Pimpim, you can talkabout whatever you like.
Um, let's talk about the gameswe like to play, said the kids.
Okay, said Pimpin, Are youready?
I will be the recordingengineer.
So Pimpin went over to a funnylooking sound desk that he
pulled out of a different boxand he started controlling all
the different knobs and things.
Okay, everybody, let's go, saidPimpin.
(12:35):
So the kids started to talk andthey shared all their most
favourite exciting games thatthey would play in the
afternoons.
They shared about funny gamesof hide and seek and games where
they would imagine whateverthey could and try and pretend
to be it.
They even told everybody abouta game they would play where
they would start a specialsentence and then the person who
was next had to make up thenext part of the story.
(12:56):
They were very fun games.
These are fantastic, saidPimpin.
Everybody everywhere would loveto hear about all the special
games you play.
This has been so much fun.
Oh, we love it, said the kids.
But I think Mum and Dad will befinished recording soon.
And all of a sudden they sawsomething starting to push
through the side of theirsoundproofed area.
With that, their mummy andtheir daddy's heads poked
(13:18):
through the side of theirsoundproofed area.
With that, their mummy andtheir daddy's heads poked
through the middle.
They looked in at everythingthat was going on inside Kids.
They said what is going on inhere and what's inside this box?
Said their dad, don't open thatone.
Said the kids, why not?
As he opened the box, thecompression jumped out and
started squeezing.
Everybody, said the kids.
(13:40):
It raced up to their dad andgave him the biggest squeeze.
They had ever seen.
What is going on.
He said Well, said Charlie, Idon't think you'd believe us,
