Speaker 1 (00:05):
One day three little
kids named Banks, walker and
Hayes were all sitting in theirbackyard.
I'm the strongest, said Banks.
No, I'm the strongest, saidWalker, flexing his muscles.
No, said Hayes, I am thestrongest.
Hayes, you are definitely notthe strongest, you're the
littlest, but I'm the strongest, said Hayes.
The boys were all arguing aboutwho was the strongest.
(00:28):
It was quite a funny littleconversation.
They weren't really arguing, they were just more pretending
and having a bit of fun.
But as they were talking, theyheard something in the bushes.
What was that, said Banks.
I don't know, said Hayes.
What was it?
I'm going to go see, saidWalker.
So the boys started creepingover towards the bushes where
(00:49):
they had heard the sound.
As they crept in, they werelooking Nothing here.
What about over here?
Then they heard a noise.
What was that?
Said Walker, diving out of thebushes.
I don't know, said Hayes.
Quick run, I think I sawsomething, said Banks.
(01:10):
What was it?
Said the other two, I think itwas, as he was about to say it,
a lion popped out of theirgarden.
He stuck his head through first, his head through first.
(01:31):
It's a lion, screamed the boys.
Hello, said the lion.
What Did that lion?
Just talk, said Walker, I thinkit did, said Hayes.
Lions aren't meant to talk, said Banks.
Well, I'm a talking lion, saidthe lion.
My name's Leopold.
Hi Leopold, are you going toeat us?
Said Walker.
No, I'm not going to eat you,but I did hear you arguing about
who is the strongest, andthat's very exciting for me.
(01:53):
Why is that exciting for you?
Said the boys.
Because, said Leopold, we areabout to have the biggest
tug-of-war match in the historyof the animal kingdom and we
need more people to help.
Do you think that you couldcome help us?
Help us?
Who's us?
Come on, you'll see.
Said Leopold.
Um, okay, just let us checkwith our mum.
(02:15):
So the kids raced inside to asktheir mum if they could go with
Leopold the lion, and of courseshe said yes.
So they raced off back to thebackyard.
Um, leopold mum said yes, comeon.
Said Leopold, follow me.
So the kids followed Leopoldback into the bushes.
As they were walking in, walkerwas very confused Um, aren't we
just going to hit the fence?
(02:36):
He said no, said Leopold.
There's a secret tunnel, asecret tunnel, said Banks, where
Leopold led them deep into thebushes.
Until there it is, said Walker,I can see it, said Hayes, there
was a little trap door at theback of their garden, and
Leopold opened it up.
All right, we got to go thequick way, though.
(02:56):
So grab a leaf off that treethere A leaf, said the kids.
Yeah, and try and get thebiggest one you can, okay.
So each of the boys grabbed aleaf.
Each, they were about the sizeof their hand.
Oh, that'll work.
Hang on.
Now, that's a very specialplant, so rub it together in
your hands.
So the boys started rubbing theleaves together in their hands,
(03:18):
and as they did, the leaf gotbigger and bigger and bigger.
Whoa, these leaves are huge, said Walker.
Yes, said Banks, they're bigenough to sit on, exactly, said
Leopold.
So Leopold jumped on his leafand jumped down the hole behind
the trapdoor in the garden.
Come on, boy, he said as hesailed off down the tunnel.
(03:40):
Um, I guess we better follow, said Banks.
Here we go.
Banks jumped on his leaf and, followed by Walker and Hayes,
they flew down the tunnel at topspeed.
But this wasn't just a straighttunnel, it turned out.
This was a curvy tunnel withlots of spins and whirls.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, said the boys, as they went
(04:02):
around and down and throughuntil they popped up.
Where are we?
Said Banks.
I've got no idea, said Walker.
Um, we're in the jungle, saidHayes, a big jungle.
Hello boys, all right, you'rehere, hang on.
One of my friends is meant tomeet us here.
He's got his car.
Um, who is it?
Just then a big gorilla drove upto them in the Barry said
(04:30):
Leopold.
Barry said Walker.
Hi, yeah, my name's Barry.
Barry the Gorilla, said theGorilla.
I'm here to pick you up for thetug-of-war event.
Hooray, said Leopold.
Come on, kids, jump in.
The kids looked at the car.
I don't think that we're allgoing to fit in there, they
looked.
The car was hardly big enoughjust to fit Barry the Gor.
(04:51):
Oh, yeah, maybe we could rideon top.
Oh, that sounds like fun, saidthe kids.
So the kids and Leopold climbedonto the roof of the car.
They all sat down.
Seatbelts please, said Barry.
As he threw up a bunch ofseatbelts, the kids all clicked
them on.
Um, okay, I think we're ready, said the kids.
Well, let's go, said Barry, andthey started driving through
(05:15):
the jungle.
It was very peculiar, sitting ontop of a funny looking car
being driven by a gorilla nextto a lion, but the kids were
enjoying it all the same.
They could see birds andmonkeys and all kinds of things
in the trees.
Um, there's so many animals, said Walker.
Yeah, and they're all coming tothe tug of war-war match, but
we might be in a bit of trouble.
(05:35):
Why's that?
Said Walker?
Because I've heard that there'ssome very naughty competitors
that are going to be there.
Naughty competitors, said Banks, what's a naughty competitor
look like, said Hayes.
Um well, just then twochimpanzees came swinging out of
some trees nearby.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Right.
Who thinks that they can cometo the tug-of-war match?
Yeah, you can't beat us,because we're the chimp brothers
.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
The kids looked Um.
Are those the naughtycompetitors?
Yes, said Leopold, looking veryscared.
The chimp brothers landed onthe front of the car and they
looked at Barry.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Right, barry, you
better turn this car around and
drive it straight back to whereyou came from.
Yeah, because there's no wayyou're going to beat us in the
tug of war competition becausewe don't have any secret tricks
or anything, do we?
Yeah, bro, none, just kidding.
Secret tricks, said Barry.
What secret tricks have you got?
(06:34):
Not telling, said the ChimpBrothers.
But I will tell you one thingit's going to be fun for us.
See you later.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And the Chimp
Brothers jumped off the front of
the car and went swinging backthrough the trees.
Oh no, said Leopold, we'llnever be able to beat the Chimp
Brothers.
No, we won't, said Barry.
That's really disappointing, because I really wanted to win
this year.
Um, maybe, if the ChimpBrothers are going to play some
tricks, said Banks, maybe wecould play some tricks as well.
(07:05):
Oh, said Leopold, that might bea good idea, but we'll only use
the tricks if they use thetricks first, said Walker.
Yeah we want to make it as fairas possible, said Hayes.
Good idea, said Leopold.
So Leopold and Barry continuedto drive and the kids began to
talk Hmm, what tricks could wedo?
(07:27):
Oh, we could do this.
The kids whispered andwhispered until they had come up
with a plan.
Hey, barry called out Banks, weneed you to make a detour, we
need to find some extra things.
All right, said Barry, let's go.
So the kids and Barry andLeopold went for a detour before
they came to the event.
(07:47):
When they finally arrived atthe tug-of-war event, it was a
giant arena.
There was a giant, big vinethat was obviously going to be
used for the tug-of-war match.
The Chimp Brothers were alreadythere waiting what?
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You decided to show
up.
Why would you do that?
Because everybody knows theChimp Brothers are going to win.
Yeah, the Chimp Brothers arethe best.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
As the kids were
looking, they had a very cheeky
smile on their face.
We'll see, said the kids, if wetry our hardest, we might do.
Okay, that doesn't work, saidthe chimp brothers.
The kids smiled and walked overto the vine.
All right, well, is this wherewe're going to do this?
They looked around.
There were animals everywherearound the jungle All the
(08:32):
monkeys and tigers and birds andsnakes and every animal from
the entire jungle had come towatch the very special
tug-of-war event.
The chimp brothers werestanding there all by themselves
.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
All right, well,
we'll just go with the two of us
, because that's all we need tobe able to beat you.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Ha ha yeah, Well, how
many do we get, said the kids
Um you can have five Leopold,Barry and you three kids.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Perfect, said the
kids.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
What do you mean?
Speaker 3 (09:03):
perfect, said the
chimp brothers.
Um, you should be more worried, please.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Um, oh, you want us
to be worried, said Banks.
Okay, we can pretend.
Pretend, said the chimpbrothers.
Oh, I'm terrified, said Hayes, with a big smile on his face.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
What is going on?
Don't worry, we'll get him oncethe event starts.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah, Just then there
was an announcement that was
made.
There was a parrot that seemedto be running the show.
He took a microphone out ofnowhere and began to talk.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Ladies and gentlemen,
it is time for the giant
tug-of-war event.
Get very excited and hold on toyour hats, because this will be
an exciting one.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
With that, the kids
Leopold and Barry walked over to
the rope, and the ChimpBrothers did as well.
When they all took their places, the parrot said that it was
time.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Ladies and gentlemen,
it is time to start the event.
Everybody join in for thecountdown Three, two, one pull.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
And with that the
kids started to pull as hard as
they could, and the chimpbrothers did too.
They were pulling the rope.
Then something strange happened.
Now yelled one of the chimpbrothers, and out of nowhere
they pulled two giant mechanicalarms.
The mechanical arms were intheir backpacks and they reached
(10:32):
backwards and grabbed hold ofsome trees behind the arena.
Then the mechanical armsstarted to do the pulling for
the chimp brothers.
Ha ha told ya you can't beat us,they said, and the kids started
to get pulled towards the line.
It looks like they are usingtricks, said Banks.
Well, time for our tricks, saidWalker.
(10:54):
Do it now.
Hayes called out Banks.
Okay, said Hayes, hayes, let goof the rope.
And then he started to pull outa whole bunch of banana peels.
What said the chimp brothers?
Then he started to throw thebanana peels underneath the feet
of the chimpanzees.
Hey, those things are slippery.
Whoa, hey, whoa, said the chimpbrothers, as they started to
(11:16):
slip and slide on all the bananapeels.
We need to do something aboutthose trees, said Banks.
Don't worry, said Hayes, I gotan idea for that one.
Banks raced over to the treesand then he walked up to the
mechanical arms that wereholding on and he began to
tickle them.
What you can't?
Tickle a mechanical arm?
But it turns out you could.
And the arms started to giggleor at least the kids thought
(11:39):
they were giggling, because theywere moving in a funny little
laughing way.
As the kids thought they weregiggling because they were
moving in a funny littlelaughing way, as they were
laughing, their grip started toloosen and as soon as there was
a gap, hayes tucked banana peelsin between the trees and the
mechanical arms.
The arms slipped off and thechimp brothers slipped over Whoa
.
Then the kids decided it wastime.
(11:59):
All right, barry, pull.
All right, said Barry, help me,leopold.
All right, said Leopold, we cando this.
And they started to pullBecause the Chimp Brothers were
sitting on a pile of bananapeels.
They were easily pulled andslid across the line.
No, they yelled as the kids, leopold and Barry won the tug of
(12:22):
war-war event.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
How did you beat us?
We had the perfect plan.
No.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
The crowd went wild,
and the kids all cheered too.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
We've done it, yelled
Leopold Hooray Hooray said
Barry, we're the best, and wedid it with your help.
Thank you so much, kids.
We couldn't have done itwithout you.
Oh well, thank kids.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
We couldn't have done
it without you.
Oh well, thank you.
We've had a lot of fun too, said the boys.
But it's best we started to getyou boys home before.
Right, you're in trouble, saidthe chimp brothers, and they
started running towards the kids.
Let's get out of here, yelledLeopold.
The kids quickly started to run.
Do you still have those leaves?
Um, yes, said the kids.
Jump on, said the kids, jumpedon their leaves and they landed
(13:05):
on top of the banana peels andstarted to slide speedily
through the jungle.
As they slid and slid all theway back to where they were
meant to be, they went straightthrough the tunnel.
Bye, boys, yelled Leopold asthe boys slid back to their
house.
When they popped up through thebackyard, back in the bushes,
(13:26):
they climbed back out and wentback inside the house.
As they walked in, they wereholding their giant leaves.
Wow, said their mum, thoseleaves are huge.
Where did you find those?
Well, said Banks.
I don't think you'd believe us,even if we told you.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
And that is the end
of the story arms and they can
pull 10 times harder than youcan.
Yeah, just make sure no one'sgot any banana pills.
Turns out that makes them notwork so good.
Yeah, we hope you've beenenjoying the silly stories for
