Believe it or not, at one point, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the most successful independent film of all time. Creating a live-action adaption of one of the hottest selling children's toys was considered a gamble by all the major movie studios. Thanks to the Nightmare on Elm Street studio, New Line Cinema, the Turtles got a chance on the big screen. But, today, the franchise is considered one of the most mediocre series of all time.
