state of Palestine was officially recognized by the United Kingdom, Portugal,
Australia and Canada yesterday, bringing the total number of countries
recognizing Palestine to one hundred and fifty one, more than
three quarters of the world's countries. UK Prime Minister Sir

Kir Starmer said yesterday that the recognition of the state
of Palestine is a pledge to Palestinian and Israelis that
there can be a better future.

years ago as a homeland for the Jewish people. Today
we join over one hundred and fifty countries who recognize
a Palestinian state, also a pledge to the Palestinian and
Israeli people that there can be a better future.

French President Emmanuel Macran is expected to announce France's recognition
of a state of Palestine today. Israel dropped more leaflets
over Gaza City this weekend, telling people to leave as
ground forces pushed deeper into Gaza City. Lebanon's health ministry
said yesterday that an Israeli strike killed five people, including

three children, when a car and a motorbike were hit
by a drone in southern Lebanon. Israel acknowledged the strike,
saying that it killed a Hesbola member and regretted that
others were killed. Afghanistan's Taliban have released an elderly British

old gold bracelet which was stolen from a museum has
been melted down for the gold. A special committee found

sold it to a silver trader, who sold it to
a workshop owner who sold it to a gold smelter
who melted the bracelet with other items. And Rwanda is
hosting the Bicycle Road World Championships this week. This is
