Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. This is Send seven World News in seven minutes.
I'm Stephen Devin Cenzi. Today is Monday, the twenty fourth
of November twenty twenty five. Starting in Europe today, European

(00:22):
countries have proposed a different peace plan for Ukraine and Russia,
a few days after Russia and the United States proposed
a peace plan that is generally seen as unacceptable for Ukraine.
A few days ago, Russia and the US released details
of a twenty eight point peace plan, which has been

(00:44):
heavily criticized in Europe for being pro Russian and demanding
many concessions from Ukraine, such as that Ukraine has to
give away territory that Russia has not conquered. French President
Emmanuel Makranz said yesterday that if there is no deterrence,
then Russia would attack again in the future. The counter

(01:06):
proposal written by European countries and Ukraine is very different
to the US Russian plan and does not involve Ukraine
giving away its territory. Earlier yesterday, European Commission President Ursula
Vondelayon released a video statement.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
We have agreed on the main elements necessary for just
and lasting peace and Ukraine's sovereignty and let me highlight
three of them. First, borders cannot be changed by force. Second,
as a sovereign nation, there cannot be limitations on Ukraine's
armed forces that would leave the country vulnerable to future

(01:46):
attack and thereby also undermining European security. Third, the centrality
of the European Union and securing peace for Ukraine must
be fully reflected. Trane must have the freedom and sovereign
right to choose its own destiny. They have chosen as
European destiny.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
In the United Kingdom, a senior member of the right
wing populist Reform Party has been jailed for more than
ten years for taking bribes from Russia. Nathan Gill, who
was previously the leader of Reform in Wales, was found
guilty of taking thousands of euros from a pro Russian

(02:28):
politician in twenty eighteen and twenty nineteen in order to
make pro Russian speeches and media appearances while working as
a member of the European Parliament. At the moment, Reform
is leading opinion polls for voting intention for the next
general election, with around thirty percent of people saying that

(02:48):
they would vote for Reform. Slovenia held a referendum yesterday
over whether to legalize assisted dying in terminally ill adults.
At the time of recording this podcast, votes were still
being counted. Assisted dying is already legal in some European countries,
including Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, and the UK

(03:12):
Parliament voted earlier this year to legalize it Africa. In Nigeria,
more than three hundred school children have been kidnapped by gunmen.
The Christian Association of Nigeria has said that three hundred
and three students and twelve teachers were abducted from a

(03:34):
Christian school in Niger State. Last Monday, twenty five girls
were kidnapped from another school in Kebe State. Many schools
in western Nigeria are staying closed to avoid being targeted.
In another attack, two people were killed in a church
and some others were kidnapped. Recently, US President Donald Trump

(03:57):
has threatened to use military force to protect Christians in Nigeria.
In South Africa, the twentieth G twenty meeting took place
this weekend. It was boycotted by the United States because
President Trump claims that there is a genocide being committed
against white people in South Africa Asia. In Vietnam, flooding

(04:24):
over the last month has left at least ninety people dead,
with twelve more missing. According to the Environment Ministry. There
have been various periods of intense rain since late October,
with many areas of central Vietnam flooding over the last week.
Israel has said that it has killed Hesbola's chief of

(04:46):
staff in an air strike on Lebanon's capital, Beirut. Hesbola
has confirmed that Hitham Ali Tabatabai was killed. Lebanon said
that five people had died in the air strike. This
was the first Israeli attack on Beirut for months Americas.

(05:07):
In Brazil, former president Jayil Bolsonaro has been arrested after
Supreme Court Justice Alexandra de Marius said that he was
likely to try to leave the country or to enter
a foreign embassy after Bolsonaro was found to have tried
to remove his electronic ankle tag. Bolsnaro has been under

(05:30):
house arrest since August and in September. He was found
guilty of attempting a coupdettach in twenty twenty three and
was sentenced to twenty seven years in prison. In the
United States, the Center for Disease Control has completely changed
its position on a suggested link between vaccines and autism.

(05:52):
Until a few days ago, the CDC website said that
studies have shown that there is no link between vaccines
and autism. However, an update to the page has changed
the text to say that it is not evidence based
to say that vaccines do not cause autism because studies
have not ruled out the possibility that vaccines cause autism.

(06:16):
The page now also says that studies supporting a link
have been ignored by health authorities. Health Secretary RFK Jor
has often been described as an anti vaccine activist and
conspiracy theorist, and has promoted a link between vaccines and
autism despite there being hundreds of studies and major reviews

(06:39):
that say that there is no link between vaccines and autism.
In August, the director of the CDC and many other
staff from the CDC either resigned or were fired because
of clashes over vaccine policy. In an interview with The
New York Times, RFK Junior said that he personally had
instructed the CDC to change its guidance on vaccines and autism.

(07:04):
And in Colombia, an ancient turtle fossil has been named
after the singer Shakira. Shaki Demis Columbiana is a thirteen
million year old turtle fossil, and researchers said that they
decided to name the fossil after Shakira because of her

(07:25):
charitable work supporting children's education in Colombia. A big thank
you to Michael in Germany for becoming our newest supporter.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
