I'm Juliet Martin and today is Monday, the twenty seventh
of October twenty twenty five. Starting in Asia, East Timore

(00:27):
has become a member of the Association of Southeast Asian
Nations after a fourteen year wait. East Timore, also known
as Timor Leicester, is the eleventh member of the bloc.
The country won full independence in two thousand and two.

(00:48):
Prime Minister Shanana Guzmau said, for the people of Timour Leicester,
this is not only a dream realized, but a powerful
affirmation of our journey. Thailand and Cambodia have signed a
new ceasefire deal, witnessed by United States President Donald Trump.

In July. The country signed an original ceasefire after forty
eight people were killed in a five day conflict. They
have now agreed to remove heavy weapons and land mines
from their border, and Thailand agreed to release eighteen Cambodian
prisoners of war. Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Shanvilrakul said this

declaration reflects our will to resolve differences peacefully in full
respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Trump announced the agreement
during the Asian Summit in Malaysia.

cooler Lampour peace accords good name. Both countries are agreeing
to cease all hostilities and work to build good neighborly relationships,
which I've already started. Eighteen Cambodian prisoners of war will
