I'm Ben Mallett. Today is Monday, the third of March
twenty twenty five, starting in the Americas. In the United States,

Ukraine's president Vladimir Zelenski was asked to leave the White
House after a heated argument between Zelensky and US President
Donald Trump. The argument was part of a fifty minute
televised discussion between Trump, Zelensky, and US Vice President J. D. Vance.

During the discussion, Trump refused to give clear security guarantees
to Ukraine. Trump did suggest that fighting in Ukraine would
likely end if Ukraine signed a deal to supply the
US with rare earth minerals. Zelenski's visit on Friday was

meant to lead to the signing of this mineral's deal.
The deal was not signed after talks broke down. President
Trump accused Zelensky of gambling with the lives of millions
of people and of being disrespectful to the US. Vice

President Vance asked Zelenski about US support for Ukraine and asked, quote,
have you said thank you once? End quote? Zelensky has
thanked the United States, its people, and its government for
their support many times you're gambling with millions of people.

Kingdom Prime Minister Stam said Ukraine has the UK's full
backing in their war with Prussia. The UK also agreed
a two point twenty six billion pound loan providing Ukraine

with military supplies. Uruguay has a new president, Jumandru Orsi,
took office on Saturday. Orsi won the presidential election held
in November last year. Ors describes himself as having a

moderate left political outlook, which marks a change from the
conservative politics of outgoing President Luis Lassalle. Paul Europe Norway
will continue to supply fuel to US Navy ships after

one Norwegian oil firm said it would not. Norwegian fuel
supplier Aldback Bunkers announced that they would stop supplying US
ships out of support for Ukraine after the heated meeting
between Zelenski and Trump on Friday. Norway's defense minister said

this was not government policy and that US ships would
still be supplied with Norwegian fuel. European Commission President Ursula
Vondalayan has said that Europe must increase its investment in defense.

Vondalayan said there has been under investment in defense across
Europe for a long time. Vondalayan also visited India last
week to discuss a possible free trade agreement between India
and the EU. Africa Guinea Bissau has threatened to expel

a diplomatic mission sent by the political bloc known as ekowas.
There is a continuing disagreement in Guinea Bissau over when
the term of President Umarusisoko Umbalu should end. Mbalu's term
began in twenty twenty and opposition politicians say that it

should have ended. Last week, Guinea Bissau's Supreme Court has
said that Mbalu's term will end on September fourth this year.
The Somali National Army launched an attack against Islamist militants
on Sunday. More than forty members of the armed Islamist

(05:58):
group Al Shabab were killed in the attack, according to
Somali state media, Asia and Oceania. Israel has blocked a
number of AID trucks from entering Gaza. Israel had been

(06:18):
allowing AID to enter Gaza as part of a ceasefire deal,
which also saw prisoners and hostages exchanged. The first phase
ceasefire expired on Saturday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu has
said he is considering extending the ceasefire over the religious

holidays of Bramadan and Passover. A second phase ceasefire, which
could see all remaining hostages released, is also being discussed.
In Australia, planned tax rises on draft beer while being

temporarily stopped. Australia is one of the highest spending countries
when it comes to alcohol per capita. The pause on
beer tax rises comes ahead of national elections in May.
The governing Labour Party is currently polling behind their main

rival and a US company has called itself the first
private company to make a fully successful moon landing. Firefly
Aerospace landed their spacecraft on the Moon on Sunday. The spacecraft,
called Blue Ghost, carried ten payloads of scientific equipment. That's
