Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning. This is send seven World News in seven minutes.
I'm Stephen Devin Cenzi. Today is Monday, the sixth of
October twenty twenty five. Starting in Asia today, Israel and

(00:22):
Hamas are expected to hold negotiations today in Egypt. This weekend,
Hamas said that they would agree to parts of a
plan by United States President Donald Trump, but have not
agreed fully to the plan. Trump said on Saturday that
Israel should stop its military actions in Gaza, and Israel

(00:46):
has said that it is now taking only defensive actions. However,
Al Jazeera reported yesterday that nineteen Palestinians were killed yesterday.
President Trump released a statement on Saturday saying that peace
was close.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
But thank you all, and thank you all to those
great countries that helped. We were given a tremendous amount
of help. Everybody was unified in wanting this war to
end and seeing peace in the Middle East, and we're
very close to achieving that. Thank you all, and everybody
will be treated fairly.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Across Europe, hundreds of thousands of people took part in
protests against Israel's actions this weekend, with the biggest protest
in the Netherlands, where two hundred and fifty thousand people
are believed to have joined a march in Amsterdam. Tomorrow
is the second anniversary of the Hamas attacks which started

(01:44):
this period of war. On October seventh, twenty twenty three,
Hamas and other Palestinian groups crossed into Israel and killed
one thousand, two hundred people, mostly civilians, including hundreds of
young people who were shot dead at a music festival
and hundreds of civilians who were shot dead or burned

(02:06):
alive in their homes. Around two hundred and fifty people
were then taken into Gaza as hostages, including women, children,
and various foreigners, including over thirty farm workers from Thailand.
Some of the hostages have been returned in prisoner swaps
with Palestinian prisoners. However, there are believed to be around

(02:29):
fifty hostages remaining. However, around half of those are believed
to be dead. Since October seventh, twenty twenty three, sixty
seven thousand Palestinians have been killed. According to the Gaza
Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas. Japan will probably
have its first ever female prime minister. Sanai Takaichi was

(02:53):
chosen by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party as its new
leader to become Prime Minister, Takaichi must still be confirmed
in a vote in parliament next week. However, this will
probably happen as the LDP has the most seats. Also
in Japan, there is a shortage of the bier Asahi

(03:17):
after a cyber attack caused problems with shipments of the beer.
In Syria, the first parliamentary election since the fall of
the Bashah al Asad government took place yesterday. The voting
was only done by six thousand electors as the transitional
government said that it was not possible to conduct a

(03:40):
proper election in which everyone can vote Europe. In Chechia,
the right wing populist party ANO of former Prime Minister
Andre Babis has won the most seats in the parliamentary election.
Current Prime Minister Peter Fia has conceded defeat, saying that

(04:03):
his coalition would not be able to form a government.
Although ANO has won the most seats, it may still
take months to form a government, as it needs twenty
more seats to form a majority, and most other parties
have said that they wouldn't work with ANO. In Ukraine,

(04:24):
Russian missile and drone attacks killed at least six civilians yesterday.
One of the worst hit areas was the western region
of Lviv, close to Poland, which is generally safer than
other parts of Ukraine. European Union head of Foreign Policy
Kaya Kalas said that Russia was terrorizing civilians to hide

(04:47):
its current military failures. In Georgia, there were major protests
on Saturday after local elections which were boycotted by many
major parties. There have been ongoing protests over the last
year since parliamentary elections, which opposition parties say were rigged

(05:07):
in favor of the ruling Georgian Dream Party. In Germany,
a judge has ordered three suspected members of Hamas to
be kept in detention until trial. The three men are
suspected of having weapons and preparing to attack Jews. Hamas
has denied links to the arrested men. Africa, Morocco's Prime

(05:34):
Minister Aziz Akanusch has said that he wants to talk
to protesters in order to end demonstrations that have continued
for more than a week and resulted in three deaths
and hundreds of arrests. In the Democratic Republic of Congo,
former president Joseph Kabila has been sentenced to death in absentia,

(06:00):
is accused of supporting the M twenty three group, which
has captured part of eastern DRC, and was sentenced to
death for war crimes, treason, murder, and other crimes. Earlier
this year, Kabila visited the city of Goma, which is
under M twenty three control. However, it is not known

(06:21):
where Kabila is right now Americas. In Brazil, people have
been advised to avoid drinking distilled alcohol after cases of
methanol poisoning. There has been one confirmed death from methanol poisoning,
with eleven more confirmed cases and over one hundred suspected cases,

(06:46):
mostly in Sal Paulo. According to the Associated Press, bars
are reporting people drinking beer and wine, but no cocktails,
which are normally popular in Brazil and in the United States,
a treasure chest lost for over three hundred years has
been found. A team of treasure hunting divers in Florida

(07:12):
found over one thousand silver and gold coins that are
believed to have been created in the Spanish colonies that
today make up Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru. They are believed
to have been lost on the thirty first of July
seventeen fifteen, when a hurricane destroyed the ships traveling back

(07:35):
to Spain. A big thank you to Daniel in Poland
and Daniel in Germany for becoming our newest supporters. Thank
you Daniels. If you enjoy this podcast and you'd like
