I'm Stephen Devinchenzi. Today is Tuesday, the third of September
twenty twenty four. Starting in Europe today in Germany, the

far right anti immigration party AfD Alternative for Germany won
the most votes and seats in the Turingian state election.
Many media sources are describing this as the first time
a far right party has won a state parliament election
in Germany since World War II. One point two million

people voted in Turingia's state election on Sunday, and thirty
three percent of them voted for the AfD, far more
than the center right CDU, which came second with twenty
four four The only other state which had an election
on Sunday was Saxony, which is also in Germany's East.

In Saxony, the AfD came second, very closely behind the CDU.
The AfD have said that they must be included in
coalition negotiations in both states. However, most other parties have
said that they won't enter coalitions with the AfD. Another
eastern state, Brandenburg, also has a state election this month,

and opinion polls suggest the AfD will win that as well.
Ukraine's two biggest cities, Kiev and Kharkiv, were hit by
many Russian missiles and drones yesterday, damaging infrastructure and homes.
Ukraine used drones to hit many oil refineries and power

stations in Russia yesterday, including one hitting Russia's largest power
station north of Moscow. In Norway, a whale which was
believed to have been spying for Russia has been found dead.
The Beluga whale was nicknamed Valdemir, mixing the Norwegian word

seven people and caused floods and landslides on the biggest
island luson Americas. In the United States, around ten thousand
hotel workers, including workers of Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt, have

gone on strike, complaining about poor working conditions and pay.
The United States has confiscated a plane used by Venezuelan
President Nicolas Maduro, saying that it was bought in violation
of US sanctions. The US said that the plane was
brought from the US using a shell company and smuggled

out of the US Yesterday. The plane was flown from
the Dominican Republic to Florida. In Argentina, an Italian man
has been arrested after spending more than forty years as
a fugitive. Leonardo Bertuladzi was found guilty in absentia of

other illegal activities Africa. In Tunisia, the Electoral Commission has
refused to allow three presidential candidates to be on the
