Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, this is Stephen. I have a favor to ask you.
If you have five minutes, please could you fill out
our survey or questionnaire. It is about your experience with
seven podcast and about how we can make it better
in the future. Five people who complete the survey will
receive a Send seven coffee mug. To complete the survey,

(00:24):
just go to sendseven dot org and click survey. Thank you.
Good morning. This is Send seven World News in seven minutes.
I'm Stephen Devin Chenzi. Today is Wednesday, the tenth of
December twenty twenty five. Starting in Asia and Oceania today,

(00:49):
Australia has become the first country in the world to
restrict social media by age. Starting today, social media platform
must block access for under sixteens. Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Snapchat,
TikTok and x formerly Twitter are all now banned for

(01:11):
under sixteens, as well as video streaming services YouTube, Twitch
and Kick. Companies that do not enforce the new rule
can receive large fines. On the border between Thailand and Cambodia,
fighting continued for a second day yesterday, with both countries

(01:31):
blaming each other for firing artillery into civilian areas. There
were reports of weapons being fired across more areas of
the long border. Cambodia's Defense ministry said yesterday that nine
civilians had been killed, and Thailand said that three of
its soldiers had been killed. This is the heaviest fighting

(01:53):
since July. Thailand's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nkoron dej Balankuda said
that Cambodia started this round of fighting, but the Thailand
will now continue fighting until its sovereignty is not compromised.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Our military action will continue until thailand sovereignty and territorial
integrity are not being compromised.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
In Indonesia, at least twenty two people have died in
a fire in an office building in Jakarta. Police have
said that the fire started when a battery exploded. Europe,
in Czechia, President Peder Pavol has appointed billionaire former Prime

(02:39):
minister Andre Babish as prime minister again after Babish's right
wing Annor party won the most seats in October's parliamentary election.
Annor has formed a coalition government with far right party
SPD and right wing Motorist Party AUTO. Over the last

(03:00):
four years, both the Czech government and the presidency have
been pro Ukraine and have supported sending military aid to Ukraine. However,
many members of the new government are opposed to supporting Ukraine.
Lithuania has declared a state of emergency over balloons repeatedly

(03:21):
crossing into its airspace coming from Belarus. Lithuania says that
the balloons are smuggling cigarettes, but also calls them a
hybrid attack because Belarus is doing nothing to stop them.
Lithuania's most important airport, Vilnius Airport, has closed more than
ten times this year because of the balloons. The Lithuanian

(03:46):
government has asked parliament to approve military support for border
guards and police related to the balloon crossings. Africa, Sudanese
warlord Ali kush has been sentenced to twenty years in
prison at the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands after

(04:07):
being found guilty of committing war crimes. Ali Kusheb was
a leader of the Janjaweed militia, which supported the Sudanese
military and is accused of genocide in Sudan's Darfur region
in the early two thousands. One of the other Jajuwed
leaders at that time was Hahmati, who is now the

(04:28):
leader of the Rapid Support Forces who grew out of
the Jajuweed and is now fighting against the Sudanese military
in today's civil war. In sentencing Ali Kusheb, also known
as Al Radman, Judge Johanna Korna said that claims that
the violence was simply inter ethnic fighting were not true.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Abd al Rahman's conviction is the first acknowledgment that the
people of Darfur were not victims of mere intertribal conflict
or something akin to that, they were victims of a
deliberate campaign.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, about two hundred thousand
people have been displaced over the last few days because
of advances by the M twenty three militia group, which
is supported by Rwanda. Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix
Chusikedi has said that Rwanda is violating agreements made in

(05:31):
the United States just a few days ago. In a
speech on Monday, Chusi Kedy said that Ruwanda has carried
out attacks on DRC soldiers over the last few days
and spoke about how a United Nations report from this
year confirmed that Rwanda was supporting the M twenty three

(05:53):
rebel group inside the DRC America's United States dates President
Donald Trump has called Europe weak and decaying, and has
said that Europe is destroying itself with immigration. In an
interview with Politico, Trump also suggested that he would support

(06:16):
political parties in Europe that align with his visions, which
is something which was also written in the recent new
national security strategy document. Yesterday, German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz said
that parts of the United States national security strategy were
unacceptable and said that Europe didn't need the US to

(06:39):
save European democracy. Honduras's president Shiomara Castro has said that
she is reporting an electoral coup to the United Nations,
the Organization of American States, and the European Union. Castro
is not a candidate in the election, for which the
results have still not been completely declared because of technical

(07:03):
failures and allegations of fraud. With ninety nine percent of
votes reported yesterday, it appears that right wing candidate Nazrie
Espura has won. However, he has a lead of only
one percentage point over liberal candidate Salvador Nazreala, and in Argentina,

(07:23):
the record for the biggest number of Golden retrievers in
one place has been broken. At Ends said that two thousand,
three hundred and ninety seven of the dogs joined together
in the park in Paledmon, Buenos Aires, beating the Canadian
city Vancouver, where only one thousand, six hundred and eighty

(07:45):
five Golden Retrievers held the previous record. A big thank
you to Dauna in Estonia and Nga sant in Corde
Divois for becoming our newest supporters. If you enjoy the
