Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is Send seven World News in seven minutes. I'm
Stephen Devin Cenzi. Today is Wednesday, the fifth of November
twenty twenty five. Starting in Africa. Today in Sudan, history

(00:24):
is repeating itself. The International Red Cross has said between
two thousand and three and two thousand and five and
estimated two hundred thousand people were systematically killed based on
their ethnicity in Sudan's Darfur region. This is generally known
as the Darfur Genocide and one of the main groups

(00:45):
responsible was the Janjaweed militia. Over the last ten years,
Janjaweed fighters generally joined the Rapid Support Forces, and today
the Rapid Support Forces are accused of killing people based
on their ethnicity, most recently in Al Fasher, a city
that they took control of last week. Yesterday, United Nations

(01:09):
Secretary General Antonio Guterrez asked the RSF and the Sudanese
Army to make a peace agreement to stop the civil war.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I call both on the Sudanize Armed Forces and the
Rapid Support Forces to work with my personal and Voye
for Sudan ramtand La Mamre towards the negotiated settlement, Come
to negotiating table, bring an end to this nightmare of violence.
Now it's time for peace.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
In Cameroon, forty eight people have been killed in protests
against the re election of President Paul Bia. According to
Reuter's News agency, quoting United Nations sources, Bia has ruled
Cameroon since nineteen eighty two and he will be ninety
nine years old by the next election Europe. Across Europe

(02:05):
this year, the sale of Tesla cars has dropped significantly,
with Tesla car registrations this October compared to last October,
dropping by eighty nine percent in Sweden, eighty six percent
in Denmark and around half in Norway and the Netherlands.

(02:26):
For the first nine months of this year, Tesla sales
were down in Europe by almost a third compared to
last year. Analysts say that this fall is likely to
be because Tesla has not released new models recently, has
more competition from other brands, and because of negative association

(02:46):
with CEO Elon Musk in France. Chinese internet shopping company
Shein has temporarily stopped selling any adult products after criticism
that Shane was selling sex dolls that resemble children. Shane
has said that it has banned seller accounts that were

(03:09):
selling the dolls. In Italy, a construction worker has died
during the partial collapse of the thirteenth century building Torre
de Conti in Rome. The worker was Romanian. Spain has
granted citizenship to one hundred and seventy descendants of volunteers

(03:32):
who joined the International Brigades in the Civil War of
the nineteen thirties. During the Spanish Civil War, around thirty
two thousand foreign people traveled to Spain in order to
fight alongside the Republican army against the fascist nationalists of
Francisco Franco. There are ceremonies this month to mark the

(03:54):
fiftieth anniversary of the death of Franco, who ruled Spain
for thirty six years Asia. In China, Starbucks will sell
control of its operations in China to Boyu Capital in
a deal worth four billion dollars. Boyu will own around

(04:17):
sixty percent of the company, with Starbucks retaining around forty percent.
There are around seven eight hundred Starbucks coffee shops in China.
Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Shi'a al Sudani has said that
Iraq will only be able to stop militia groups after
all foreign soldiers leave Iraq. Speaking to Reuters, Al Sudani

(04:41):
said that the main reason for foreign militaries to be
in Iraq was to fight Daesh the Islamic State. However,
they are not a problem anymore. However, he said that
some Iraqi groups see the presence of foreign soldiers, especially
US soldiers, as an occupation and so they won't give

(05:03):
up their weapons. The US and Iraq have agreed that
all US soldiers will leave Iraq during twenty twenty six.
America's Peru has broken diplomatic relations with Mexico because Mexico
has granted asylum to former Peruvian Prime Minister Betsy Chavis.

(05:27):
Chavis has been charged with participating in an attempted self
coup of President Pedro Castillo in twenty twenty two. Chavis
is in the Mexican embassy in Lima. Mexico has said
that it is following international law and that Peru's decision
was excessive and disproportionate. Mexican President Claudiat Shinbaum has previously

(05:51):
shown support for Pedro Castillo and said that he was
the victim of a coup. In twenty twenty two, in
the United States States. Yesterday, there was an election for
the mayor of New York City and also elections for
the governors of the states of New Jersey and Virginia.

(06:11):
At the time of recording this podcast, votes have not
yet been counted. New Jersey currently has a Democratic governor
and the Democrat candidate is expected to win by most
opinion polls. Virginia currently has a Republican governor. However, opinion
polls show that this is likely to change. In the

(06:32):
twenty twenty four presidential election, Virginia voted for Democratic candidate
Kamala Harris. Both candidates are women, which means that Virginia
will have its first ever female governor. In New York City,
the Democratic candidate, Zoran Mandani is expected to win. Yesterday,
he criticized President Donald Trump for supporting Andrew Cuomo, who

(06:57):
was previously the Democrat governor of New New York State
but is now running as an independent.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
The MAGA Movement's embraced s and Andrew Cuomo is reflective
of Donald Trump's understanding that this would be the best
mayor for him, not the best mayor for New York City,
not the best mayor for New Yorkers, but the best
mayor for Donald Trump is his administration.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Also in the United States, politician Dick Cheney has died
aged eighty four. Cheney was vice president to George W.
Bush and has often been called the most powerful vice
president for the influence that he is said to have
had in that administration. He was also Defense secretary to

(07:42):
Bush's father, President George H. W. Bush. Cheney is known
for being influential in the US invasion of Iraq in
two thousand and three. Last year, Cheney joined Republicans encouraging
people to vote for Democratic candidate for president Kamalah, saying
that Donald Trump was a threat to democracy.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Our nation is two hundred and forty six year history.
There has never been an individual who is a greater
threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to
steal the last election, using lies and violence to keep
himself in power after the voters had rejected it.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
A big thank you to Alessio in Italy and Lauda

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
