(00:00):
Hi there.
Welcome back to the podcast.
I want to talk to you this weekabout podcasting, and I know
last week we talked aboutpodcast discoverability tips,
and we talked a little bit aboutif you don't yet have a podcast,
like why it's important.
And I really wanna dig into thattoday because I believe that
your business needs a podcast.
(00:21):
I think that adding a podcast.
Was the best decision that Ihave made from a marketing
standpoint in a long time.
I've had mine going on twoyears.
I'm coming up on episode 150,and it has been phenomenal.
I'm actually coming up on yearthree.
I'm about, I'm in season threeof the podcast.
(00:42):
This show right here.
Has helped me connect with you.
It has helped me connect withnew people, new listeners,
expanded my reach.
It has brought money into thebusiness and it can do the same
thing for you.
So let's talk about kinda whypodcasting is such a great tool
for you as a business owner andwhy.
(01:04):
I do truly believe that it wouldbe beneficial.
For you in most circumstances tohave a podcast and add it to
your marketing mix.
And don't look at this and thinkor listen to this and think, oh
my gosh, Rachel, I do not havethe time for one more piece of
content.
Okay?
You are going to continue to useyour same core content and
(01:26):
you're going to repurpose it.
So if you start with a blog likeI do.
I always write my blog postfirst, and then I use my blog
post as my outline for mypodcast.
I don't script it.
Some people do, they script wordfor word and they read it, and
you know what?
I feel like most of the peoplewho do that sound very monotone
and very boring, and there'slike nothing there that's really
(01:49):
unique or different or new.
So I always do mine just from anoutline and I have five or six
bullet points that I wanna makesure that I hit on.
And then I share stories and Itell you, and I teach you, and I
feel like.
We're having a conversation andit's just you and I and we're
chatting and we're talkingabout, Hey, this would be really
beneficial, or, Hey, make sureyou do this, and I know that you
(02:11):
listen to the podcast and I knowthat you binge the episodes
because you tell me, and I lovewhen you tell me that, Rachel, I
found your podcast.
I started listening.
I started implementing what Iwas learning.
I've seen this result.
I've had this result.
I've had this happen.
I got an email the other dayfrom a listener who said.
I have been listening to you fora while now and I love it and
(02:33):
I'm doing everything that you'vetaught.
I wanna take simple SEO content.
I'm not quite ready.
Um, hopefully she's going tojoin in the September cohort,
otherwise she's gonna have towait until January.
But it's really here to help youlearn, and it's the same thing
for you, having one for yourbusiness.
Podcasting really helps you bediscovered.
(02:55):
It helps with visibility, and ifwe're being completely honest.
There is a visibility issue.
If you are not doing your SEOfor Google and now AI search,
you have to be doing both.
If you're not doing SEO yet, youare not going to be as visible
on Google.
You're not going to get as muchtraffic because so much is now
going to other Googleproperties.
(03:17):
You really, if you haven't takenthe free class, you haven't
learned how all this works.
When I launch it again inJanuary, be sure to go through
it to really understand because.
If you are not doing it now, youare going to struggle to be
visible and get traffic in thecoming year, so it's gonna be
really important.
(03:37):
A podcast gives you one moreplace to catch your audience.
One more place to be found.
This is really important intoday's online marketing world.
We need to cast a wide net sothat we can find people where
they're spending time.
The other thing I like about apodcast compared to, let's say
social media, is that with apodcast, you get to become part
of somebody's routine.
(03:58):
If they find you, they listen, they like you, they start to
look for your show.
They follow your show.
They get it downloaded in theirapp for them each week.
Social media, they may or maynot see your posts, even if they
like you, even if they followyou, even if they engage with
you.
Most people never see yourcontent, like 2% of your
audience.
(04:18):
I actually sees your contentwith a podcast.
Everybody who opts in and says,I want to follow the show, gets
it downloaded in their podcastapp when you go live.
So that's part of it is just youget to become part of their
world.
The other thing is it reallyhelps you build this connection.
It is a really great way tobuild a loyal audience because
now if you're consistent andyou're releasing an episode
(04:40):
every week or every two weeks orevery month, whatever your
cadence is, they get to knowyou.
They start to look forward toit.
I have people tell me all thetime, okay, Rachel, I've binged
every episode that you have andnow I need a new one.
When is the new one coming?
And I always say, it's easy.
It's coming on Tuesday.
It will be there waiting for youin your podcast app on Tuesday
morning.
I release mine about 1:00 AM onTuesday so that they're there in
(05:03):
the app Tuesday morning foreverybody.
They're an easy way for you.
And to build that audience, they're a way for you to build
that loyalty.
They find you, they discover youthrough the app.
If you've done podcast, SEO.
Then they find you.
They start listening to you.
They become loyal audiencemembers.
And then when they're ready tobuy, they're ready to convert.
(05:26):
Because they've come to you forso long and you've helped them,
you've guided them, you've giventhem so many tips.
Now they're more likely to wantto buy from you.
And I have this happen to me allthe time.
I have one-on-one.
One-on-one clients.
I have students, I have peoplewho were in my small group
who've said, I first found yourpodcast.
I fell in love with yourpodcast.
My podcast makes money everysingle month.
(05:48):
Your podcast can too.
And I'm not, it's not like I'msaying, hey, you know, to brag
about it, but just my podcastgenerates money for the
business.
The same way that the SEO that Ido on the website and the blog
content that I create does.
And I want that for you too.
I'm showing you what's possiblefor your business.
If you do these things.
(06:08):
So it allows us to stay top ofmind.
It allows us to stay, be part oftheir world than when they're
ready to convert, they're morelikely to convert with you
because they're used to you.
They know that they like yourteaching style.
They've spent time with you.
You've gone on their car rideswith them, they've gone on their
walks with you, whatever it is,they feel like they have a
connection.
(06:29):
And that's so helpful,especially in today's world
because we're in what peopleare.
Deeming terming a trustrecession, especially within the
online marketing industry, theonline world.
There were so many bromarketers.
There were so many companies outthere, people out there who
really took advantage of theiraudiences.
They really didn't deliver whatthey promised.
(06:50):
They gave grandiose promises, but they really didn't have much
to back'em.
A lot of'em are starting toleave.
They're starting to get foundout, which is really good, but
so many people have been burnt,so it's really important.
That you provide that value andconnect with them, and a podcast
can help you do that.
The other thing is the buyingcycle is getting longer.
(07:13):
I don't know if you've seen ityet, but I definitely have.
It used to be that I couldgenerally convert, somebody
would come into my course withinabout a week of joining my email
list.
This year, I've noticed thoseconversions, that conversion
cycle is getting longer.
People are taking a couple offree classes before they're
(07:35):
joining and paying forsomething.
Maybe they're asking morequestions.
People need more confidence inwhat they're investing in, and
so having a podcast where you'repart of their world each week
can definitely help.
The other thing I want you tounderstand is that.
A podcast is a long-termvisibility tool, so when you're
(07:57):
active on social media, great, you're active in that moment.
But if somebody doesn't see yoursocial post, they're not likely
going to find it six months downthe road.
But with a podcast, as long asyou understand and are doing
SEO, you can get downloads foryour episodes.
Six 12.
(08:17):
Six months, 12 months, two yearslater, five years later.
As long as you're creatingcontent that's evergreen,
meaning it's still gonna berelevant and applicable in the
future, you really are notlimited.
So me personally.
I still get downloads everysingle week, every single month
for old episodes.
I get the majority of thedownloads definitely are for
(08:40):
this week's episode, but I alsosee downloads for episodes from
up to 2, 3, 2 to three years agowhen the podcast first started.
What's really interesting.
Is that those early episodeshave significantly more
downloads today than they everdid when they were first
released.
Because when I first releasedthose episodes, I was not doing
(09:03):
SEO on the podcast.
I just was podcasting.
And so my results were asaverage as your.
Are in the very beginning, unless you take simple podcast,
SEO and you let me teach youexactly what I've done to like
five x my podcast downloads, butin the very big more than that.
Now, in the very beginning, theydidn't get a ton of downloads.
(09:24):
It was a brand new show.
People weren't really, they werelistening, but it wasn't really
big.
But once I started doing SEO,and then I went back and I
optimized all my old episodes.
Those podcasts now have 10 to 20times the downloads that they
had in the beginning, maybe evenmore than that.
And I know that those downloadshave come in after the fact
(09:45):
because I remember what thosenumbers were like in the early
days.
So that's something I want youto understand is like it can
drive traffic visibility, bringpeople into your world.
All of those episodes workingtogether, I'm coming up close on
number 150.
We'll hit one 50 in earlyOctober.
I now have 140 some episodesthat are driving visibility.
(10:07):
People can find in the podcastapp, they can download, they can
listen, they can get to know meand come into my world and start
to binge it and listen toeverything that's there.
And then they are ready toconvert because now they've had
all that content, all thoseinteractions, they've heard me
in their ears or in the car somany times.
(10:28):
They know they like my teachingstyle and that my friend is what
is possible for you as well.
The other thing that's so greatabout a podcast is that it can
really help to position you asan expert in your niche, you
know?
What you know, and you are sogood at it, but until other
people know and see andunderstand and learn and hear,
(10:50):
they don't maybe know howamazing you are.
So having that podcast can helppeople see how great you are.
It also can open upopportunities for you if you
want to say guest podcast andyou want to go on other people's
podcast, which is a great way tobuild your audience as well,
because now you are connectingon somebody else's show.
With people who are interestedin listening to podcasts who are
(11:12):
interested in what you talkabout, some of them are going to
come back and listen to yourshow as well.
So, like I said, you don't needto create new content each week
for a podcast.
You will repurpose your blogpost.
You'll then create your.
Podcast episode than your emailand then you send it out and now
(11:34):
you have a bigger net to capturepeople and more potential
visibility between Google Chat,GPT, and now your podcast app.
So make sure you're doing this.
If you don't yet have a podcastfor your business, I want you to
start one.
I want you to like plan on it.
2026, I am going to launch apodcast.
I want you to either.
(11:55):
Work with me one-on-one.
We can create your podcastlaunch plan and get it all
squared together in EliteCoaching, or take simple
podcast, SEO.
It is a self-study course.
It's gonna walk you through whatyou need to do from a launch
standpoint.
There's the best practiceslaunch module for you.
It's a bonus.
That'll walk you through likehow to start a podcast and then
go through the course, and it'sgonna cover everything you need
(12:17):
to know about what your artshould look like, what you
should cover on your podcast, keywords, episode titles, just
all of it.
And it's only$297.
It's self-study.
It's a quick one.
It'll really give you that pushto get your podcast out into the
world.
And ranking meaning.
Discoverable, having people findit in the apps, having people
(12:39):
potentially find it on Google, having people potentially find
it via chat, GPT, getting moredownloads, nurturing your
customers, and then.
You can start to think about howyou're gonna monetize it,
because once you have yourpodcast and it's going and
you've laid the rightfoundation, then we get into
monetization.
Alright, that is it for today.
I wanna thank you so much forlistening.
