Shure MV7 & C922 Pro Stream (00:00):
Hi,
welcome to the simple SEO
podcast.
I'm your host, Rachel Lindteigenand I am so glad to have you
here with me today.
Today, I want to talk to youabout.
Three easy things you can do tohelp you get more website
traffic from Google.
So we're going to talk about howdo we get found on Google and
(00:21):
more importantly, how do we get.
More free website traffic sothat you can start making more
money in your business.
So I know sometimes I say theword SEO, when people are like,
oh, it's going to be hard.
It's scary.
It's technical.
And I hope if you've beenlistening to the podcast long
enough, You're not one of thosepeople anymore.
You know, that SEO actually canbe pretty easy if you have the
(00:44):
right person explained it toyou, teach you, answer your
questions, help you with it, allof that.
So.
What are we going to do?
How are we going to get you morefree website traffic from
Google?
How are we going to get youfound, make sure that people see
you when they're searching.
Let's jump right in.
The very first thing that you'regoing to do.
(01:05):
Is to make sure you really havea strong, foundational
understanding of how to dokeyword research.
Now, the reason that I'm puttingthis right at the top is your
keyword research is critical tothe success.
Of your overall SEO plan.
This is one of the number onemistakes that I see people make
when they come through, theytake the free training class.
(01:27):
They come in, they askquestions.
They join me in simple SEOcontent.
The bottom line is most peopleare making mistakes with their.
Keyword selection.
And it's hard to know exactlywhich keyword is the right one
for your website.
I also start simple.
(01:48):
SEO content with the very firstmodule is just on keyword
research because it's thefoundation of everything that we
do.
And it's what it takes to getresults.
So the very first thing you'regoing to do.
Is to choose and focus on akeyword that your website can
rank for now, not just onekeyword, but one keyword for
(02:11):
each page or blog posts thatyou're creating.
The way that you're going to getmore traffic is by creating more
content.
That targets keywords that yourwebsite can rank for.
If you're not sure how to dothis, or you've tried SEO
before, and you're not sure thatit's working, you've not gotten
results.
Do yourself a favor and justjoin me in.
(02:32):
A simple SEO content.
Watch module one.
I'm going to walk you throughhow to use chat GPT to help you
brainstorm keyword ideas.
And then I'm going to show youhow to verify.
And determine which keywords touse using the Google keyword
planner, using a plugin like,um, keywords everywhere using
(02:54):
Uber suggests there's all sortsof different keyword research
tools that you can use.
And I'm going to walk youthrough how to use a couple of
them.
To do your keyword researchbecause not only is that going
to help you make sure you getresults for the work that you're
doing.
It's also going to show you howto find ideas.
Four blog posts or websitepages.
(03:16):
That there's search demand forpeople are interested in.
And now, you know, how to, howto do everything, to get the
traffic to your website.
So that's why it's so critical.
We really use SEO.
Keywords is the foundation ofeverything that we do when we're
creating content from an SEOperspective.
And when we create content froman SEO perspective, We have a
(03:38):
better chance of creating what Ilike to call the moneymaking
website traffic plan, which iscontent that is designed to help
your ideal customer and be foundthrough Google so that you get
free traffic to your website.
And it's people that areinterested in what you sell or
your services, your products.
And so you get really interestedpeople, really relevant traffic
(04:02):
coming to your website, helpingyou to make more money in your
business.
Okay.
Number one is the keywords.
Make sure that you areconsistently targeting keywords
that are relevant to yourbusiness.
That will help your idealcustomer that people are
searching for.
And most importantly, that yourwebsite can rank for.
You also want to kind of stay inyour lane, so to speak.
(04:26):
So Google has introduced acontent grading system called
eat E a T your experience, yourexpertise, your authority, and
your trust.
They grade every page of yourwebsite.
Every blog post through thislens, they look at it to see, is
this person an expert?
Do they have any actualexperience in it?
Um, is there any authority andcan we trust this website?
(04:50):
So they really want you to focuson the areas that you have,
background and experience, andyou truly can bring.
Different knowledge to thetable.
You can really help people.
They don't want to rank like.
Maybe there's a recipe blog andit's super authoritative because
it's been around for years andit's a great blogger that runs
(05:12):
it.
And they rank really well forall sorts of recipes.
But it's not a travel blog.
And so if that blogger tries towrite.
A great blog post about theirtrip to Italy, unless what
they're talking about.
Are all the recipes that theylearned or the foods that they
tried during their trip toItaly, there's something that's
(05:33):
really super relevant to theirregular content.
Google's probably not going torank them as high.
Simply because they're not thatexpert.
Like if they're trying to writea blog post on travel planning
for a trip to Italy, They'reprobably not going to rank as
high as someone who is actuallya travel planner and they have
(05:53):
blogs about planning your trips, your dream trip to Italy, et
cetera.
Um, on a more regular basis.
So Google does kind of want youto stay in your lane these days
and really make sure thatthey're sharing content from
people who aren't experts.
About that information thatpeople are searching for.
They're trying to find out.
Now.
You're going to want to alsomake sure that you're creating
(06:15):
really great high qualitycontent.
This is really important.
Google does not want low qualitycrummy content.
They're not going to rank youhigh.
They're not going to sendtraffic to you.
They truly want to make surethat you are answering the
questions that the searcher has.
If your content doesn't help anddoesn't provide value.
(06:38):
They're not going to rank youhigh because what I want you to
remember.
Is it prior to coming to yourwebsite, that searcher is not
your customer.
They're actually Google'scustomer.
And it's important to Google tomake sure that they're giving
them.
The best results because Googlewants them to come back again
and again, and again, the onlyway that Google makes money or
(07:02):
the main way that Google makesmoney is by selling ads.
So if people stop using Googleas their search engine, because
they're not getting goodresults, they start going to a
competitor.
Google has fewer people to sellads to, and that means they make
less money.
Google is a business, and I wantyou to keep that in mind and
remember that.
Google is a business and youneed to work with them in order
(07:25):
for them to help you grow yourbusiness.
So the way you work with Googleis by providing really great,
helpful content that is theneasy for Google to understand.
Because if your content is noteasy for Google to understand
Google doesn't know what it'sabout.
They're not going to show it toanyone.
Just the same as you have tobuild your like know and trust
(07:47):
factors with your audience, youalso have to do it with Google.
So to do that, we optimizemeaning we do SEO on our
content.
So you've chosen a keyword.
You have a good chance ofranking for you've written this
really great piece of content.
You've shown your experience, your expertise, your authority,
your trust.
(08:07):
You've provided value.
You've anticipated questions.
You've answered them.
Now what you have to do is tooptimize or to do your SEO.
On that content.
So you have a better chance ofactually showing up in the
search results.
So now you're going to write atitle tag and a meta
description.
You're going to update theoptimization, the image file
(08:28):
names.
You're going to do your imagealt text.
You're going to all thesedifferent things that are
required to make sure that yourcontent can be.
Understood by Google becausewhen Google knows what your
content is about, they see thesame keyword used in multiple
places.
They understand that.
That's what it's about.
They're more likely to show itto other people.
(08:50):
Now, the other thing you have toremember.
Is it Google looks at theengagement on websites and
that's a big part of how theydetermine where you rank.
So if you're creating content.
That people don't engage with.
They don't click through, theydon't look at anything.
They only stay for a fewseconds.
You're not going to rank high.
You may briefly while they testsomething, but you're not going
(09:11):
to remain a high ranking resulton Google unless you're creating
great content that providesvalue for your ideal customer.
You're giving them something ofhelp.
So just remember that.
Now, if you want to do this andyou want to really increase your
traffic, what you're going to dois make sure you're replicating
this process each week.
(09:31):
So we all know we should becreating weekly content.
In order to build the freewebsite traffic, we need to make
sure that we are doing this andfollowing this process with our
weekly content.
So it's not like you've got todo something different.
You just have to make sure thatyou're doing the SEO.
You're doing keyword research.
You're choosing a keyword thatyou can rank for.
You're making sure there's somesearch demand, some interest in
(09:53):
the topic that you want to writeabout.
And then you're writing a greatcontent piece.
And.
And you're optimizing it.
It's really not that much.
I always tell my students, it'slike an hour a week at the most
to do SEO because you're alreadycreating your content.
You're going to spend a fewminutes doing your keyword
research and a few minutesoptimizing it.
So it's not that much more, butwithout it, you're not going to
(10:17):
get the amount of traffic thatyou possibly could with it.
So I want you to understand thatif you're ready to really learn
and put this plan together andput it in place.
