Shure MV7 & C922 Pro Stream (00:00):
Hi, and welcome back to the simple
SEO podcast today's episode.
We're going to get into how manySEO keywords do you use on a
page or blog post.
So I know there can be someconfusion around this, you know,
how many.
Key words.
Do you use, how often do you usethem?

(00:21):
Where do you put them?
What's the perfect amount ofcontent for a blog post to rank
for Google, all sorts of stufflike that.
So I want to jump into this andkind of explain it and let's go
through this and figure out.
How many keywords do you use ona page?
So when we're talking about ablog post or a website page,

(00:42):
What I want you to remember.
Is that we want to make this assimple as possible for Google so
that Google understands whatthat page is about.
So in order to do that, We wantto really focus on one primary
keyword, one keyword.
And we want to use that keywordin all of the places that Google

(01:03):
is going to look.
So if you've ever wondered, where do I put keywords on my
website?
We're going to use the keyword, ideally in your URL, meaning the
page name.
The title of your blog post orthe title of the page.
We're going to use it in thecopy.
We're going to use it in theheader tags.
Those are the big texts, thebigger font that kind of

(01:24):
separates out the paragraphs onyour page.
We're going to use it in yourimage file name.
We're going to use it in yourimage alt text.
And if you do an image title, you can use it in there as well.
You're going to use it in yourtitle tag and your meta
description.
There are lots of places thatyou're going to use the keyword
in each of those places.
I want you to use the samekeyword.

(01:47):
The reason we're doing this iseach time Google sees that key
word.
In a place that they're lookingfor insights as to what the page
is about.
It helps Google understand.
Oh, check mark.
I've seen this keyword before.
This page must be about this keyword.

(02:08):
And so by doing that, you helpyour chances of ranking for the
keyword.
Because now you're tellingGoogle, this is what my content
is about.
This is what my page is about.
Here's how you find out whatinformation I have on my page.
Because Google is going to lookat all those specific areas to
understand what your page isabout.

(02:28):
So how many keywords are yougoing to use on your page?
You're going to use one andyou're going to use it in each
of those areas.
Now, if you have other closelyrelated keywords, Um, you can
use those on your page as well.
Like.
Maybe you have two or threeother words that are really
semantically related to verysimilar.

(02:49):
It would have the same userexperience.
Like if somebody was searchingfor that keyword and they found
the page.
It would make sense to them.
They would get the informationthat they were needing.
It would be the expected result.
In that case you can use.
Uh, secondary keywords.
You're still going to want tochoose one, to be your primary
and the primary one should bethe one that's got the best

(03:11):
chance of ranking on page oneand has the most search volume
because we want to be ascompetitive as possible, but we
also want to compete forkeywords with as much volume as
possible.
It makes sense, right?
If we're going to do this, wewant to get results.
So now we're going to use thatprimary keyword in all the most
important places.

(03:31):
And if you're not sure what theyare, get the beginners SEO guide
it's on my website, etchedmarketing.com forward slash
freebies.
And the very last page is achecklist.
That's got the information.
So it's like your cheat sheet.
It makes it much easier for you.
You're gonna use that primarykeyword in each of the places
that Google was going to look.
And then if you have a secondarykeyword, you can use that like

(03:52):
in your header tags and in yourcopy, because you can
potentially rank for multiplekeywords.
For that particular page.
Now the other thing that I wantyou to remember.
Is that it's going to beimportant.
That you only use thosekeywords, whether they're
primary or secondary, you onlyuse those keywords on two pages

(04:14):
on your website, and you'regoing to need to take track of
this and keep track of it.
So that you make sure that youare not overusing the keywords,
because let's say that you usethe same keyword on 10 different
pages.
You're actually going to limityour potential reach because
rather than having 10 pages thatcan rank for 10 different

(04:34):
keywords.
You've got 10 pages using thesame keyword, and Google's only
going to rank you twice.
So you have eight pages thathave no chances of ranking.
So that's why it's reallyimportant to make sure that
we're using different keywords.
And that we're using one primarykeyword on your page.
And then if you want to use asecondary one, you can, I hope

(04:55):
this makes sense.
If you have any questions abouthow you choose keywords.
Or where you use them, what youdo with them.
I am hosting a free livewebsite, traffic booster class.
This week.
We kicked off yesterday.
Um, it will run through Friday.
We meet each morning in aprivate Facebook group.
It's about 30 minutes at most.

(05:16):
Like it's pretty quick lesson.
We're going to go in and I'mgoing to talk to you about it.
I'm going to teach a little biton SEO and how it works.
Give you a chance to ask a fewquestions and then hopefully if
you're ready, you'll join me insimple SEO content.
Um, this week, we're going to bekicking that off for the new
year.
So if you've been thinking.
