Amanda Plasse, a 20-year-old waitress from Chicopee, Massachusetts, was tragically murdered in her apartment on August 26, 2011. She was found with multiple stab wounds in her kitchen by her boyfriend, Seth Green, who immediately called 911. The crime scene showed signs of a violent struggle, including bloodstains and bloody shoe prints. Initially, investigators focused on individuals close to Amanda, but DNA evidence under her fingernails and a palm print at the scene did not match any of them. The case went cold until 2013, when detectives re-examined the evidence and noticed a message on a whiteboard in Amanda's bedroom: "Dennis was here 8/11/11." This led them to Dennis Rosa-Roman, who lived nearby. His DNA matched the sample from Amanda's fingernails, and he was arrested and charged with her murder. In 2016, Rosa-Roman was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole. The case also led to advocacy for "Amanda's Law," aimed at prohibiting first responders from taking and sharing unauthorized photos of crime victims. This initiative arose after it was revealed that officers had taken and distributed photos from Amanda's crime scene.
