SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hey, yo.
If I can be serious for aminute.
Oh, yeah.
Acknowledge me.
Hey, what's up, Mark's Mafia?

(00:21):
It's your boy Primo, back in thebuilding for another shot of
Cheap Pops with Primo.
Where the vibes are smooth, thetakes can be spicy.
In the pop, well, you know it'salways cheap.
So sit back, vibe out, and let'sget into it.

(00:45):
Alright, so...
Welcome to another episode ofCheap Pops with Primo.

(01:12):
Before we do that, let me give alittle bit of a promo here for
the pod.
Sit Down Marks Podcast, we didrelease two episodes last week,
episodes 156 and 157.
So 156, Homegrown Wrestling withStumpy.
157, WrestleMania Review.
That released on Thursday night.
It was live, Friday night, audioeverywhere.

(01:34):
So go check them out now.
They are available right now.
So go check those out.
Alright, we got that part done.
Let's talk about, as DB wouldsay, let's talk about what we're
going to talk about, right?
Today on Cheap Pops with Primo,we're going to talk about
something I've actually beenthinking about a lot recently,

(01:56):
even before WrestleMania.
Actually, it has zero to do withWrestleMania.
I've just been thinking about itfor about a month now.
Wrestlers that I once hated, butnow love.
Wrestlers that I once hated, butnow love.
I'll give you guys a second todwell on that.

(02:18):
Give you guys to think aboutmaybe a wrestler that you once
hated that now love.
Maybe you already know.
I'm going to give you guys threewrestlers today that I once
hated, but now love.
First wrestler on that list hasgot to be Triple H.
So, I had a love-haterelationship with Triple H as a

(02:41):
kid.
I started off, one of the veryfirst things I witnessed as an
early wrestling fan was DX withTriple H.
I loved that as a young child.
But then, in my teens, we hadthis period of time between 2002

(03:04):
and 2005.
Maybe even 03 to 05.
No, it was 02 to 05.
I was 13 to 16 years old.
Very impressionable age.
And we had something called theTriple H Reign of Terror.
So, those of you out there thatknow, you know how terrible that

(03:29):
was as far as like...
It made you absolutely despiseTriple H.
That's peak Evolution days,which...
I love Revolution now, but let'sgo into why I didn't like it
then.
Then I was 13, between 13 and 16when this was all happening.
So like I said, my teenageyears, I hated Triple H.
He always had the title.

(03:51):
I remember when Bischoff justhanded him the title.
You guys remember that?
He was always in the openingsegments giving these super
long-ass promos, telling us howawesome he was.
He was just super smug.
He was always super dastardlyduring this time.
It was absolute, like...

(04:13):
Well, he was doing his job.
He was doing everything right.
I mean, to make me hate him as ateenager at that time, I did not
like him.
I wanted other people to beathim so bad.
But it just wasn't happening.
It seemed like everything...
Remember, I don't know, lessthan 10 years ago now, maybe

(04:34):
when they were pushing RomanReigns down our throat?
Well, back then, the Reign ofTerror, it wasn't...
I don't know if it...
I wasn't grown then, so maybe, Idon't know, but it didn't seem
as obvious that they werepushing Triple H down our
throat, more as he was forcinghimself...
to be on our TV screens everysingle time, almost always as

(04:57):
the champion.
It was like that three-year spanthere where he was always
champion.
He was always burying somebody.
He had that golden shovel.
He was just scooping dirt andburying souls, not like The
Undertaker, but you know what Imean.
But I came around to, as I gotolder, I was like, damn.

(05:21):
I respect the game.
I respect the cerebral assassin.
I respect how hard...
When you look at this man, yourealize how much damn work he
puts into it.
It's pretty obvious with wherehe's at now, as far as what he's
doing with the company now.
You know, he's the big dog.
He's not literally the big dog,but you know what I'm saying.
He's in charge.

(05:42):
So...
I completely did a 180 on thatas I got older, and I
realized...
Well, you know, that Reign ofTerror, while it was kind of
shitty as a teenager, I mean, heworked his ass off, so maybe he

(06:03):
kind of deserved it.
But at the time, I did notappreciate it.
I mean, it did give me thingslike, You know, also as time has
gone on, he's evolved.
You know, the reunion with DXopened up his comedic side a
bunch back in 06.

(06:23):
And then from then on, you know,he's gone on to grow older and,
you know, have funnier thingsand more open about being funny
on screen.
You know, you've seen him dancewith the New Day.
You've seen him do the newssegment.
You know what I'm saying?
Nothing like a good news giggle.
Yeah, that one.
So I'm just saying he's not justthe cerebral assassin, the game

(06:47):
anymore.
He's a whole lot more than that.
Let's get to the second person.
Second wrestler that I.
Has similar situation here.
I loved him early on.
What's funny is I wasn't scaredof.

(07:08):
This wrestler.
The whole time he had the maskon.
Now, I know you guys know whereI'm going now.
I wasn't scared of Kane thewhole time he had the mask on.
In fact, I thought he was soawesome.
But then he unmasked in 2003.
And admittedly, I was like 13 or14.

(07:30):
That's the first time Kaneterrified the absolute shit out
of me.
And I did not like him.
I was like, oh my God.
It wasn't just the...
The hideous haircut that he hadwhen he pulled the mask off.
But it was also...
I remember when he...
I can still remember when hetook the mask off and he
delivered the most ferociouschokeslam to RVD.

(07:56):
He sent him straight to hell.
So...
And then he lit Jim Ross onfire.
He was doing that crazy...
rivalry with Shane McMahon thatI will always remember where he
put jumper cables on ShaneMcMahon's testicles when he was

(08:16):
tied up to the ring post that Iended up obviously you know
getting over that and I Kane'sone of my favorite of all time I
love Kane I love everythingabout him and also right before
he took off the mask I lovedKane and RVD like that was a
great I thought it was a goodtag team.

(08:38):
And no, I mean, like I said, thewhole taking off the mask was a
shocker to me as a kid.
I was just like, oh my gosh, Icouldn't wrap my head around it.
It actually, because remember hewould come out with a towel on
his head.
He would be in shackles beingescorted out.

(08:58):
And he was just berserk.
Like he was uncontrollable.
Like once they took theshackles, it was almost like, I
remember because they would takethe shackles off and then it was
like, oh man, once they tookthose shackles off, nobody knew
what Cain was going to do.
It was unpredictable from thatpoint on, from a viewer

(09:20):
standpoint.
But obviously, once again, Icame around to loving Cain.
Both masked and unmasked.
I definitely prefer them withthe mask.
Unmasked Kane and Corporate Kaneprobably are not my favorite
iterations of Kane.

(09:44):
But I will say that unmaskedKane in WrestleMania 20, when
Undertaker returned, I do likethat version.
It's cool.
But you guys can't tell me thatyou guys weren't shook just a
little bit.
When he took that mask off.
And he lit Jim Ross on fire.

(10:06):
My God.
So, let me get to the third andfinal wrestler.
And this one, I might have hatedthis one more than any of them.
And hate's a strong word.
I don't like to use that word.
But I may have disliked thiswrestler more than any of them.

(10:29):
Definitely.
I was not happy with him.
I was an adult at this point.
I was in the military at thetime, so I was grown and out of
the house.
But what happened was, the yearis 2009.

(10:51):
What happened in 2009, WWEfolks?
My favorite wrestler of my wholelife.
up to that point was on the runof his career and he won the WWE
Championship and also the WorldHeavyweight Championship it's

(11:13):
just like when Jeff Hardy hadthat year in 2009 and he was on
fire I was living my best life Iwas stationed in Greenland it
was great now You guys know whoI'm talking about.
Now, if you don't already, I'mabout to let you know.
I'm going to read you thisstory.
The story comes from Reddit.
Somebody actually posted this.

(11:34):
What's funny, they posted thisabout a month ago.
They say, I have to confess thatI can never get myself to like
CM Punk solely because of thestoryline reason of how he beat
Jeff Hardy in the 2009 LoserLeaves WWE Steel Cage match.
Yes, it's stupid, but it is whatit is.
Yes, it's a dumb reason, andnaive kid me really thought

(11:56):
wrestling was the real thing, and me being a Jeff Hardy fan
made it all worse.
I had such a seething hatred forCM Punk ever since then that I
actually could never forgivehim.
Summer of Punk came and went, the pipe bombs, the title wins,
the reigns, the retirements, thereturns.
Nothing matters.
Nothing really mattered becausepetty me could move on from a

(12:17):
16-year-old storyline.
He's still the evil heel to me.
I physically cannot root for CMPunk because he defeated and
humiliated my childhoodfavorite.
Now, this Redditor's name hasbeen deleted, but I was right
there with them as far as how Ifelt about CM Punk when he beat

(12:40):
Jeff Hardy and forced him toleave WWE.
I couldn't believe it.
I couldn't believe that JeffHardy's...
Awesome run was over now.
I mean, obviously we knew, weknow in real life, uh, shortly
after that, what all came out asfar as, um, Jeff's personal

(13:00):
life, but that, that aside, youknow, as a wrestling fan, I was
so pissed off at punk that thisever happened.
So, and he was the one, he wasjust so smug about it and, you
know, cause he's the, he doesthe straight edge thing.
So he's better than you.
And, What do you guys thinkabout that?

(13:23):
I thought that at the time, Iwould never, ever, ever like CM
Punk again because up to thatpoint, before that year, I was
cool with him.
I liked him when he came in aspart of the ECW New Blood and
then the Survivor Series matchand just seeing him here and

(13:44):
there, I liked what I wasseeing.
And I did grow to love himafterwards.
I grew to love him after that.
I don't know when, but it had tohave been around the pipe bomb,
I guess.
So...
I think that CM Punk eventuallywon me over, and I became a

(14:09):
freaking...
At one time, I was a massive fanof CM Punk's.
I was wearing the t-shirt andeverything, so I...
He definitely did win me over.
I wasn't like this guy that Ijust read the story about where
I never got over it, but I wasable to get over it and then end
up being a huge fan of CM Punk, even though he did what he did

(14:32):
to Jeff Hardy in 2009.
So there's that.
Those are the three wrestlersthat come to mind when I think
of wrestlers that I once hated, but now love.
