Numerous reports show authorities on the scene were warned about the shooter as bystanders witnessed him crawling on top of a building with a rifle. Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to fire multiple shots at the former President before officials took him out.
Donald Trump’s opponent President Joe Biden has already condemned the violence and there are still a lot of unknowns, but a glaring condemnation of US political debate in recent years is that no one seems surprised that this could have happened.
Meanwhile, many say Trump’s defiant response to the attack will rally any 'on the fence' voters to his side.
