Jennifer O'Sullivan (00:06):
Welcome
back to Skillful Meads Podcast.
I'm your host, jenniferO'Sullivan.
Hey, I know it's been a minutesince the last episode of the
pod, something that has reallybeen worrying my parts.
I pride myself on beingdependable and consistent, and
my parts really hate the ideathat they might have let you
(00:28):
down, and it's also the casethat sometimes life just happens
and it keeps on happening, throwing one obstacle at you
after another, and while thelast 18 months of my life have
been a whole obstacle course alittle endurance swimming over
here, monkey bars over there.
(00:50):
Along the way, I've come toappreciate the section of the
Lojong teachings that advise usto transform adversity into the
path.
How do we stop fighting againstwhat's happening and start
learning from it, even expandingbecause of it?
This is what psychologists callpost-traumatic growth.
(01:12):
These are evolving questionsand I suppose we'll have a lot
of material in the coming years, and so my hope with the podcast
is that it can be a supportiveresource for you, helping you
draw on timeless and practicalwisdom so that you can dwell
peacefully in your groundedcenter, even in a chaotic world.
(01:37):
All of this is to say thatSkillful Means Podcast is
returning in February in a newformat.
The biggest change is that I'mgoing to continue solo-ish
Emphasis on the ish but I'mstill going to bring you
accessible teachings andpractices drawing from yoga,
(01:58):
buddhist, mindfulness andinternal family systems.
I continue to be inspired bythese topics, and I hope you are
too, and one of the brightspots of my last year is that
I've been pursuing a graduatediploma in positive psychology.
Positive psychology isinterested in answering the same
questions how do we live well?
(02:19):
How do we suffer less?
How do we thrive?
So the updated show willrevolve around questions from
you, my dear listeners, as wellas from my yoga students,
clients, newsletter readers.
I'll answer many of thequestions myself, but I'm also
planning to bring in guestexperts on topics that aren't in
(02:42):
my wheelhouse, guest experts ontopics that aren't in my
wheelhouse, and I'd like toinclude vignettes from people
like you showcasing how yourpractices are supporting and
nourishing you.
In other words, I don't want tolisten to myself talk.
If the show isn't supportingyou, it's not worth doing so.
I've created a short survey foryou to send me your questions
(03:05):
doing so.
I've created a short survey foryou to send me your questions,
favorite practices and storiesabout how your practices are
inspiring and helping you.
You'll find that link in theshow notes.
Before I preview a few of theupcoming questions, I also want
to say that I'm deeply gratefulfor the time I shared with my
former co-hosts, annie and SarahJane, who brought wonderful
(03:25):
perspectives to ourconversations.
If you're listening, thank you.
The show will resume in earneston February 4th with a timely
episode on the pressure toimprove ourselves.
How do we sift through ourshoulds so that our growth
practices nourish our wants andneeds too?
(03:49):
Future episodes in the pipelinewill focus on working with
internal resistance, understanding your own parts and
perspectives on working withdifficult emotions.
But don't forget, I want tofocus on what feels present and
meaningful to you.
So do hit up that survey in theshow notes.
And for those of you who enjoythe monthly guided practices,
(04:12):
I've got you, they're comingback too, with the first one
appearing in your feed onFebruary 20th.
Well, that's it for now.
If you'd like to get in touch, hit me up at feedback at
skillfulmeanspodcastcom.
And don't forget to rate andreview the show, which helps an
(04:33):
indie show like this getdiscovered.
Until next time, may we meeteach moment with courage and
compassion.
