The methods by which mainstream seeks to negatively affect our very existence is ever evolving.
This piece, previously published, calls out the various methods and is a prelude to subsequent episodes that will illuminate the evolution of the method(s) that are affecting US and those who find themselves outside...looking in.
"A Chosen Vicious Cycle" was originally published on 04-25-2021.
I republish it today in memory of Brianna Marie Grier. A victim of this continuing cycle. Imagine...she slid to her death from the back seat of a moving police cruiser.
Frederick Douglas in his historic speech, "What the Black Man Wants" delivered before the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, just days before the end of the Civil War, recognized that the Black man is faced with many obstacles.
Though his words during that speech are primarily associated with "suffrage"-they can be utilized to address the myriad obstacles with which we are subjected during OUR experience.
Chief among those obstacles is the prevalence of a " malignancy of hatred' that is being projected upon us by generation after generation of whites.
We, as a people, must recognize that silence regarding those things, and actions that rob us of our inherent rights, must be addressed at the time of their occurrence. Too often we assume that someone else will address the issue and it is allowed to fester and evolve into something that far exceeds its' life expectancy.
Ruminate on the following...
" No class of man can, without insulting their own nature, be content with any deprivation of their rights". (F. Douglas-"What the Black Man Wants", 1865)
