Isolationism- it's being promoted on a national level and the entire mindset of what can be attained through individualism is being promoted even to our kindergarteners.
I wonder what is to become of this nation and our youth if this individualistic mindset is left to grow -unchecked.
"Who You Traveling With"
is a piece that flowed from my fingertips after a week of listening to college students during a recent trip to my alma mater, the University of Maryland at College Park.
As I watched the basketball team, I was amazed at how many students and graduates seemed to focus on the accolades of the individual player as opposed to the success of the team as a whole.
Somehow, team sports, just as life, has been wholly relegated to individual success. Of course, I recognize the importance of each individual. However, I also recognize that individual success hinges on the little things that each player contributes. That includes those who never see a minute of actual playing time. or who we think are of unimportance in our life's journey. I am here to tell you; their contribution should never be overlooked.
When you have a moment, instead, take a moment to determine who is along this journey with you and truly assess how their contribution is affecting your life and just as importantly, how you are affecting theirs.
