Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome, ladies and
gentlemen, to Slinging Sammy's
Fantasy Football Podcast.
I'm Chris and I'm here with.
Well, will you introduceyourself a friend?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I am apparently Scott
the functional alcoholic, and
I'm doing great.
And what's your name?
Speaker 1 (00:14):
again, I'm Chris the
old, the old or old, which means
old is old and so quickScottish term is old.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Does old equal?
Old Is like old, like enzyme, does that?
Speaker 1 (00:28):
work Does that come
from?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Exactly what?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
it is.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
It's how to be old,
and I'm good at that.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
It's a completely
different language.
I don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
It is.
It does mean old, and that'sexactly what it is.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Okay, so you're old.
That means old, so sad, so sad,but you're so young and hard.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I'm glad to be able
to pass on this knowledge to my
younger co-heart here.
Actually you're older, butthat's okay.
Younger at heart.
I'm going to bring the timewhen you used to make fun of me
when I was like, still 20 andyou were well over 21 at the
time and now I get to make funof you for the rest of my life
because you are the older jib.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
You're trying to take
the piss out of me, are you?
Yeah, that's what I'm doing.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
So, scott, you said
that there's also we might have
a special guest appearance today.
Do you know who that is?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
by I don't know.
I don't know.
We'll see if we have a specialguest appearance.
I think the guest appearancemay come when we're going
through the people's rosters.
I think that's probably goingto be the appropriate time.
Oh okay, we'll see if theweasel comes out of the hole.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
No, scott, you are
doing a.
What six week challenge?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Yeah, doing a six
week challenge through my gym
it's called resultstransformation here in Sparks,
nevada.
Basically, if I lose 10 pounds,go to least 20 workouts and do
20 social media posts within sixweeks, then I'm eligible for
fabulous prizes and some value.
I don't know what it is.
It's not really about theprizes, it's really about just
(02:03):
the challenge and trying to dostuff.
So I'm in week five of thatRight around 10 pounds down
right now.
I hope they really kick it intogear and get another few pounds
so I don't have to worry andfret when I step on the official
scale.
But so far, so good.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
So we are actually
having our fantasy football
draft next week.
What are your words of wisdomfor those that are trying to
lose weight during fantasyfootball weekend?
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Oh fuck it, Don't
even try.
Maybe try some of that dip andsee if it maybe causes you to.
Maybe that's a tip.
Drink a lot and throw up.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Or drink a lot, go to
Johnny Rockets, and then it's a
natural projection.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
That's like fire
coming out of your throat.
Johnny Rockets, the triplecheeseburger oh my God.
A chocolate shake, oh, thatgoes well with like 18 whiskies.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
It's good for the
reference.
We're talking about DaveDrawling right now.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You were all bad that
one night we went there.
That was a bad decision.
Thankfully, we've upgraded ourplaces to go eat.
Right Now we're going to sushior we're getting the rim done.
Yeah, the trim or rim.
So we'll be much better.
Actually, we haven't decided onthe food stuff, but we'll go to
(03:31):
David's Grill at the golf placeon Thursday.
For those that don't know, wehave a weekend plan, GS Lovely
Grand Cedar Resort here in Reno,Nevada.
We're going to do some golf onThursday.
Some of us will be going outthere.
We'll probably have David'sGrill, which is out there.
Nice place, nice bar.
There's probably some swankymusic going on On Thursday or
Friday.
We'll be hitting some breweriesaround town, some distilleries,
(03:53):
places like that, and we'llactually be moved in a
monumental change.
Those of you fans who will beout there you know changing your
draft date is like in the drafttime it's almost the same every
year, by clock or even if it'sfor a long time.
We actually were able to moveheaven and earth and move our
draft to Friday night.
Isn't that incredible, Chris?
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Oh, it's absolutely
incredible.
And what was the driving forcebehind us doing that?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
The driving force was
a couple things, A couple
things.
It was going to be tough onTravis' schedule, it was going
to be tough on a few, but thebiggest thing was the fact that
we loved hanging out at the pooland we loved to push the draft
at time on Saturday becausewe're having a little too much
fun at the pool and so this yearwe get to be pool all day
(04:43):
Saturday and it's going to beepic and fun and I hope nobody
throws up for peeping the poolyeah and I'm really surprised
because, like the whole region,I even threw it out there was
for Travis to, you know, tosatisfy Travis, but on a selfish
purpose of like being able tohave that Saturday at the pool.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
But you know, like,
for those that are going to be
at the draft, that's not reallythat big of a deal in some
senses, other than tradition andjust getting away from the norm
.
It was for those of you thatcouldn't make the draft, that's
going to be a little moredifficult for, and my biggest
concern was Mikey.
But Mikey was on board and I'mlike sweet Brett was on board,
he actually said it was better, and Travis, of course, was the
one we're doing it for.
So it worked out really welland all of a sudden all the
(05:21):
stars aligned and we were ableto pull it off.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'm so happy you were
able to satisfy Travis.
Good job we did satisfy him.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
We usually get the
presidential suite for us.
I mean, there is that littlething that we're going to have
to downgrade this year a littlebit on is our suite.
Is just what a normal suite, oris it like?
What do you call it?
Not the presidential?
Speaker 2 (05:40):
but, yeah, junior
suite or something like the one
with the joining rooms in themiddle, yeah, so, yeah, I forget
.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Well, plenty of room,
but we just want to have that
big joining room.
We might have to shuffle aroundhow we get everybody plugged in
.
We need to bring a coupleextension power cords even.
Oh, that's a good idea.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Good, good idea.
Mental note We'll see if Iremember it in a couple of weeks
.
Yeah, I'm going to do it.
But yeah, yeah, shout out toTravis.
You've done so much greatthings for us the last several
years Getting the great placefor us to be playing some
awesome music, making sure weget a good speaker in there, you
know, stocking the thing withalcohol, so, and then obviously
(06:18):
helping us get in the cabana, and just you know.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Well, I think, if he
all honest, you know, if Travis
isn't showing up, he should atleast be, for, you know, during
Saturday, don't you think so?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Oh, absolutely, yeah,
yeah, and we just put it on the
the, the Woodard's tab.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right, you put it on
his tab.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Who knows guy.
He said it was okay, just youknow, put it on his tab, put it
on his tab.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
He don't care, here's
his number.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Gonna stick sandwich
and a stick sandwich and just
put it on the Woodard's tab.
Yeah, so that would be key andcrucial.
So, but otherwise, big news foryou First day of school, first
day back in the old, the oldteaching, the old teaching game.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, so as a first
day back kids, they all had the
deer in the headlights, look ontheir faces, and you know the
first three days are usually sosimple because the most of them
are too fearful to even, like, speak up.
I asked like, is there anyquestions that you guys have?
And you could just see deadsilence.
You can hear a pen drop at thatmoment.
Give it a week and then they'llbe back in Roar and back to
their Rembuck just ways, andthat's when the real teaching
(07:22):
starts.
But it was a good first day, soit's good to be back in the
classroom.
A lot, of, a lot of crazy stuffhappening in our school this
year.
Class size reductions caused usto lose teachers, which now
they're going to try to get someteachers teach 120%, which is
just a lack of better terms, just not a very good situation
(07:43):
right now.
But we'll get it all worked out.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
So I'm really shocked
that there's no questions,
nobody's, nobody's, nobody.
Like pointed out the the tooth, like where's your tooth?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yes, the tooth is
missing and the tooth will be
replaced actually in a coupleweeks, which I'm possibly on the
outside chance.
I have it ready for the draftand those of you know I got my
tooth knocked out and I've gotan implant in, at least in terms
of I have to wait for it toheal before they can screw the
actual tooth in.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
And who knocked that
tooth out?
What human being or I was?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
defending a woman in
the parking lot who?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
was oh, no, no, no,
no, no, no no no so.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
I had to protect the
person and the guy was hitting
her.
He turned around to hit me witha crowbar.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
And.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I was lucky to get
him off and throw him near to
the side and take care of himwhen the police came, but I lost
my tooth in the process.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
What genus of the nut
family was the one that
actually broke your tooth?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
An almond, but it was
the almond that was thrown at
me.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I was thrown at you,
Perfectly hit your tooth and
like, oh my, I can't believe analmond would knock it out.
Well, you know, it's a superalmond.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
So you know I'm into
the crowbar.
Those are the two problems.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
It is a power food or
whatever, like that or whatever
.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Oh, it's not a
pleasant thing.
However, when you do see me inpublic, I do actually wear a uh
with a retainer that has a faketooth in there for now.
So ah okay, okay, that's what Iteach with that.
The only problem with aretainer it makes me a little
bit if I start speaking up andthat makes it really tough.
So that's why you always haveto see me without it, because
otherwise they'll be on thispodcast.
A little bit of a lift and itmakes it hard for me to talk
(09:18):
like that, you know.
Suffering stuck a patch.
Yeah, anyways, I think wedigress on a lot of different
unimportant, useless informationfor people listening to us.
Where do we have them?
Sure for us today?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
on the actual meat of
our content, Well, I think
we're going to talk about justan important deadline, just to
everybody's reminded of what'sgoing on, and then we're going
to talk about, uh, resume, completing the, looking at the
keepers, and then we'll see whatwe have left from there.
So do a little last cleaning, but something to start.
We have some important datescoming up, and what are these
(09:52):
important dates?
These important dates arekeepers.
So in our league you're allowedto keep three players.
Uh, well, as long as they'reeligible.
So after you can keep a playerfor up to three years, after
that you have to let them go.
But, uh, but if they're youonly have for a year or two, you
can keep them again.
Their salary goes up $3 plus10% of their salary.
(10:14):
So, um, yeah, so by Wednesday, wednesday evening, 1130 pm
Pacific time, or whatever, whatever I said 11 pm Pacific
time, you need to have yourkeepers in.
So keepers are in.
You don't have them, you'rescrewed, you're getting zero,
you're getting zilch, you'regetting not screwed.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Maybe you're starting
to scratch.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
You start from?
Yeah, exactly, you start, whichin some cases is a good thing.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
So, uh, and so, as we
looked at some of the teams
last week, it might be a goodthing, exactly.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
So that's the first
thing, and then, of course, the
draft has been as we said.
It's been moved to Friday, 6 pmPacific Pacific time, 7 pm
Mountain Standard Time.
For Mikey there in Salt LakeCity Actually, sarah took a
springs so 6 pm Pacific time.
So be there or be dead.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Right on your own,
All right.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
So I thought you were
going what are you?
Real quick, we were able to askwhat are you drinking?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
I am drinking a
double IPA through Heretic
Brewery in Fairfield, california.
It is called the Evil Cousin, one of my favorites.
It's a very good IPA, which soone of my favorites Also on my
tap, so that's the reason why Ilike it.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Okay, okay, okay,
nice, and I'm drinking a shit
Cabernet.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So and that's part of
your challenges to not drink
what I'm drinking, but to drinkwhat you're drinking.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Yes, I've only had
two.
I've only had, as I mentionedlast week, I had a couple years
of beer and that was only thesecond beers I had since I've
been on the challenge so and Idon't plan to have another beer
until the end.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I did have an earlier
beer at the golf course, with
meeting with my coaches and wehad Hen House, which is have you
had an Hen House before?
Speaker 2 (11:58):
I've had one or two
of the beers.
They do sell them up here in acouple of places.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, and there it's
a Newbury right across street,
basically Longanese and Petaluma.
But I actually like Hen House alot more than Longanese beers.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Okay, I still haven't
been there, so I still, but it
was the time we did go there.
There was another place thereacross the street north of
something about 101 North orsomething like that, or I forget
what it was called.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Yes, I think it was
called.
I remember it.
Yeah yeah, no, the Hen House iswell.
Longanese is obviously a muchbetter.
It's a really cool place tohang out if you want to listen
to music.
It's got a bigger venue.
It's outside.
It's more of a kind of just arelaxed kind of like a beer
garden, essentially where HenHouse is more of a brewery style
(12:44):
, just like you're inside a bigwarehouse.
But I just feel like there arebeers a lot better than
Longanese beer overall.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
You know my favorite
brewery in the world, right.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Revision.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
No, my favorite
brewery that I've been to is
Longanese in Chicago.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Really.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
That's my favorite
brewery that I've ever visited.
I mean, again, I'm a mile fan.
I'm like I don't love them, Idon't hate them.
I'm like kind of in the middle, like I love them much more this
year in Nevada, yeah, but yeah, the one in Chicago is epic, so
it's just.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Was it epic because
of the ambience, or was it epic?
Speaker 2 (13:20):
for the beer More of
the ambience, more of the
ambience.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, and that's the
one here in Petaluma would be.
The ambience is a lot betterthan Hen House, but if I just
look at the beer straight up, Ican't have it better.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I will say Longanese
is my favorite micro brewery.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Sorry, it's my
favorite.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
of the micro
breweries that are big, it's my
favorite.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
No, that makes sense
and I can understand that and I
agree with that too.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I like them.
I mean, still I like a lot too,but I'm okay.
Firehouse, firestone Walker, which I got to visit too, was
pretty good too, and I'm justnot a big steering Nevada guy
anymore, so it's just yeah.
Anyways, breweries drafts.
So 6pm on Friday, keepers in byWednesday and 11 o'clock
(14:05):
Pacific time, and those are thebig announcements.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Sweet.
Well, thank you for thoseannouncements.
Let's digress to fantasyfootball information.
We looked at I believe andcorrect me if I'm wrong we
looked at the NorthfellWine'singers last week.
We looked at Santa Rosa Shakers.
We skipped over the MustangRangers for today and we looked
over Alabama's Slammars andPhilly Fasatac.
Does that seem right on youragenda?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
That seems that's
exactly it so.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
And that leads us to
start off with the Napa Prime.
So give me some informationabout the Napa Prime.
What do you see here, who areplayers that they have, and what
information can you divulge tome at this moment?
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah, I mean you have
some star players on their team
.
I mean you look at AaronRodgers, christian McCaffrey,
nick Chubb.
You got Mike Evans.
You know stud player, you know, maybe some of those their time
is past.
You got Travis Kelsey.
So a lot of really good players, so good backups, really You're
stocked.
The quarterback, deshott, watson, tua and Rodgers, as
(15:07):
mentioned.
You got three solid runningbacks from McCaffrey, chubb and
Acres, really good, looking good.
And as far as wide receivers, yeah, mike Evans, Kirk solid.
Don't have a ton on the bench,I would say, besides the
quarterbacks, although CortlandSullivan actually what we should
talk about.
He looks like he's beenimpressed in camp and you know
(15:27):
there's a whole new lease onlife as far as Denver is
concerned, because it'sconcerned.
So a good balance.
Ropher roster you know numberone tight end, you know solid
supporting cast, especially atrunning back.
So it's a really good team thatthat did win the championship
last year.
When you look at the roster,it's kind of easy to see why.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Oh, definitely, he's
got a great roster.
As you speak, he was alwaysrunning on the top scores, him
and Dale, I think were the twoprobably top squares.
But I can remember correctlyand I do like his team, Like he
says, definitely stacked it.
Sorry, quarterback, Definitelytarget running back At least top
two.
Camp makers you can make anargument for didn't do much for
(16:08):
him, but at the same time youknow well.
Let me ask this question Do youthink camp makers last year was
just recovering or do you wasan anomaly year?
Do you see upside this yearcompared to what he did last
year or do you see him?
He's already peaked,unfortunately because of
injuries?
Speaker 2 (16:24):
But first off, I
forgot that I was talking about
Brett Steven.
Sorry about that.
I just saw the nap and Iflashed to you.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
So first again.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
But no, I think, I
think.
I think camp makers can stilldo well.
The problem with game makers, Ithink, is they.
They ran some of a horribleoffensive line.
They have an aging quarterbackwho you don't know if it's going
to be able to sustain, you know, 16 games at all, but he's
going to be the guy.
I don't.
They don't really have anybodychallenging him, so I don't see
any reason why he can't continueto do well again.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
I like it.
Yeah, I can see that and he wasvery talented, I would say like
it was running backs.
One of the biggest situationsthat gets under value, I guess,
is that that is that offensiveline.
I mean you could take aundrafted free agent running
back and look like an amazingrunning back because he's got a
great offensive line.
You can take someone campanchors, who's got a ton of
(17:15):
talent, with no line and he'sgoing to be dropped to the
backbill before he can even getstarted.
You know a lot of running backs.
They run downhill Like theyneed a little bit of momentum to
get going before they can breaksome tackles in space, because
if you're getting stopped in thebackbill you have no momentum.
You know you're not goinganywhere.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Right, absolutely,
absolutely so.
So I think it's it's.
It's.
I mean I see him kind of middleof the road.
I mean he's a starter, sothat's good.
I mean you want that he couldbe probably potentially the bell
cow there.
You know where does that termcome from?
That's, you know, I think he's,I mean 20 is 20 ish probably
ranked.
I don't know what the rankingsare, but I'd probably put him
(17:53):
somewhere around there 2025,something like that.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
That's fair.
I would have to kind of lookover my my.
You know I would see us to therankings, but that I mean that
seems legitimate, what you woulduse, and I'm trying to look
over the ESPN website where theyhave him ranked at this point.
But I say it's not going verywell.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
The fans of football
index has them at 17 for what
it's worth, 17 if you want tohelp?
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yeah, thank you.
So that seems about right, youknow, and so like it's a worthy
keep if that's what you'relooking for.
Having said that, looking athis roster, I kind of know who
he's keeping.
He kind of told me but who doyou think he's going to keep, or
who would you keep?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yeah, so yeah, I
think just start with the money
right.
So you look at ChristianMcCaffrey $63.
Now Christian McCaffrey ispotentially the number one
running back.
You know, would you keep himthat?
I mean I could see McCaffreygoing for $63, but I think it's
hard to keep a player at thatprice.
You just got to throw him backin and see and see what happens.
(18:54):
Nick Chubb a 36 is still alsonot a bad deal, but you know, I
don't know.
I mean that's actually could bea really good year for Nick
Chubb.
He doesn't have a hunt inVulture anymore.
And like another high priceplayer, just Travis Kelsey $37.
You know he's still the numberone tied in.
Probably would still will be,but that still seems pretty high
.
Probably want to jump back intothe water.
(19:16):
So, at least for me.
So I put campmakers in there.
I strongly consider Nick Chubb,even at $36.
I think that's still probably apretty good price.
And then you got to look at,you know, the other players
around there.
Do you like any of thequarterbacks?
I don't know.
I think I like those two guys.
(19:38):
I'm intrigued by CortlandSutton, you know, just because
he's gotten good, a good reportright now.
But what do you think, andmaybe I'm way up.
I feel like I'm probably way upbase.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Well, I don't think
you're going to be wrong.
I mean, what place I would pushback on what you were saying is
I would maybe push back onTravis Kelsey right now $37.
I think he's going to go in thesixties at this point because
Travis Kelsey, if you look athis numbers and what he's
projected to be, I think at himbeing the top maybe, and this is
being very we thought just veryhow was word?
(20:14):
Basically Some people haveranked in the top three In all
fantasy football.
You know, top 10.
Saying he's in the top 10 Ithink is a very conservative as
well, trying to work for it andall I could come with the term.
But it looks like a veryconservative approach if I say
he's gonna be a top 10 playerand that's just without
considering the fact that he'sat a tight end position.
(20:35):
He's just gonna be a top 10player period and of course
there's a lot of assumption thathe's gonna see healthy the ages
and catch up to him.
I don't think any of thosethings will do that to Travis
Kelsey.
This year he has taken a lot ofballs and a lot of hits.
He's, you know, caught a lot ofballs.
So there there could be someregression or definitely say a
little bit, but 37 dollars Iwould say in the drafts he could
(20:57):
probably go into the 60sthinking you got a top 10 player
and Then at the tight endposition of all places that puts
a premium and puts them onalmost like a step above those
top 10 players because he's at apremium position that you're
just not gonna find that kind ofquality them and so like what I
think of 37 dollars as much asI hate to say it because I want
(21:18):
him to throw him back in thepolls, I can, I can draft him.
I Think it's an amazing deal.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Yeah, I, I'm worried.
I mean it's it's not a validword necessarily, but I'm just
worried about his age.
He's 34 years old.
You know, I mean you can'tnecessarily go forever, although
kind of seems one of thosepositions, like you tend to go a
little bit long.
We're surprised because you gota block and catch and get hit.
It's kind of surprising thatsome of the some players you
know Tony Gonzalez, last at along time and Antonio Gates,
(21:47):
last at a long time, you knowsome of the big studs there, but
I mean, eventually your body'sgot to break down a little bit
right it's.
I mean it's got a got to hit apoint.
But of course we didn'tnecessarily see the last year we
saw the number one tied in by apretty wide margin.
So but I think, I mean I thinkguys like Hawkinson Andrews, I
think they're starting to creepup a little bit more on him.
So I Least.
(22:08):
For me it's too rich, I wouldnot, I would not go that high on
him.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
That's her.
That's totally fair.
Now would I agree with you, christian McCaffrey, about 63.
There is a risk of throwingthem back but, like your, risk
is about a five dollar change.
I mean, I don't see anyonegoing near $70 from Christian
McCaffrey, although he could bethe number one player on the
board literally in terms of atthe end of the year and it can
win you a fantasy footballleague.
(22:33):
But if you're, if you'redrafting them at $70, you're
taking a huge risk thatChristian McCaffrey is not going
to get hurt and playing all 16games, which I think is a big
assumption.
You got two factors goingagainst him.
One you know he's been injuredfrom before being on the Niners
to being on the Niners.
Running backs seem to get hurtand quarterbacks seem to get
(22:54):
hurt on the 49ers.
And At $63, I think you that'sabout value of what you get for
him if you throw him back in Notsaying you will, because you
never know how these things go,but you're not gonna pay too
much more and it might be worseto risk to throw him back.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
However, I have a
feeling that Brett might keep it
well, one of the interestingthings that I that I wonder if
people are realizing slowly butsurely is that Of course, past
catching backs have their have, their, have their time.
But now you start looking atguys like is Christian McCaffrey
more valuable than JustinJefferson or Tyree kill or Jamar
(23:31):
Chase?
There are our wide receiversnow starting just like in the
real game.
Are they starting to get alittle bit more respect?
And Are those the guys they'regonna start going for higher
value versus the running backsand that I don't know?
I mean I I don't know for thereyet, but I could see maybe
running backs starting to slip alittle bit just because wide
receivers are coming, moreimportant because of PPR.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, I wouldn't
disagree with you, but they're
also on.
The counter argument was thatthere are more receivers in
general to be able to pick fromversus running backs.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Yeah, but there's
only so many elite ones, right?
You know three I mentioned, ortheir elite thoroughly, and
there's probably, like you know,he's, one or two guys, more
guys you could add to that list.
But the thing about gravity too, I know, I don't.
I don't Dislate buying of the,the injury thing.
I mean the fact that you gotinjured before doesn't mean this
is like an again injured again, and he'd stayed healthy last
year, so that's a tough one aswell too.
(24:22):
We'll get her not gonna.
I don't think he's necessarilyinjury prone.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Very enough and so
like a couple things to look at
and what we kind of got, move onto another team because we're
Would you keep ChristianMcCaffrey, yes or no?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
no.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Nick Chum yes, cam
makers yes, corten Sutton Maybe
Christian Christian TravisKelsey no, okay, very no, all
right, so let's move on.
Who?
Speaker 2 (24:55):
would you keep where
we were?
If you kept any players, whowould you keep?
I'm definitely keeping TravisKelsey, okay, and I'd probably
keep Nick Chubb, and that mightbe it okay, I'm on the fence
with acres too, so I got I justwe're not helping Brett at all,
(25:17):
but I could go either way there,so yeah and that's that's.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
I mean, well, that's
kind of name.
The game of the pen is football.
Cam makers looks like a riskright now, but that might be the
perfect time to keep, to keepthem because that might be a low
risk to be able to do.
It's a little risky for mytaste, but again, it's $10.
I don't starting running back$10.
That's gonna be the bell cow.
I mean you can't go wrong withthat, so maybe I'm in on that.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
But maybe last
question we don't keep cam
makers.
I know we're way over him.
You got three quarterbacksAaron Rodgers at $13 to $4 and
Sean Watson at $3, which youconsider keeping one of them.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
If I did shoot,
that's tough.
Wow, I'm gonna face thatproblem because I can see Aaron
Rodgers putting up some goodnumbers this year.
But Aaron Rodgers, aaronRodgers, he's a cool.
He's like one of the bestFootball quarterbacks there ever
was.
When you look at fantasyfootball numbers, Mm-hmm.
(26:11):
He's always put good numbers up,but not great right, and so
that would throw me off Um, Iyou know my gut right at this
moment by just looking at hisroster as a time.
I mean to Sean Watson, becausebut that's like a super
Swing-in-the-miss kind of kindof a call, even though it's only
three dollars, to Sean Watsoncould be a complete dud this
year and probably practicalpurposes might be Um, but if he
(26:35):
displays the talent in Texas, yeah, that could be a massive
steal there through the harsh.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
I personally, I would
go to and just pray.
He was the eighth, eighth Bestquarterback and points per game
last year.
Of course he gets, he got hurta lot, but I would, I would, I
would pick him based on that andjust and pray he stays healthy.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
I wouldn't blame you
at all and that you know it
would be on my decision list aswell, absolutely so.
Now let's go to another teamthat actually to me even as
complexing as poor Brett's teamas to who he's gonna pick for
his keepers, I think this teamhas even more complex, maybe the
most complex of anyone in ourleague, that's us hand-hovered
(27:19):
Boilermakers.
And, as I go bold, I mean wegot Dalvin Cook who just signed
with the Jets.
So I mean, looking at DalvinCook's numbers in terms of
salary, not worth keeping at $58and you can kind of read a
discreet in a minute Reese Hollystills on the he has on his
list at $26, which would havebeen a bargain if Cook didn't
sign.
But on top of that we look atsome players that are me.
(27:42):
Josh Allen you can't keep, which is good for us, bad for
him, but I don't think he would, even at this rate.
He's got Jalen Waddle at $14worth is a worthy keeper there.
I mean Brian Robinson Jr at $12is worthy, but he'd probably be
on the bottom of the list of,like the people that he has,
almanra and Sape Brown at $19.
I would definitely considerkeeping him Cooper Cup at $25,
(28:07):
which is a great deal too.
Garrett Wilson at $4.
Chris Alavi at $10.
Kenneth Walker, the third, at$12.
I mean, and there are some, actually some other value
players in there too, likeTraylon Burch, I don't know, he
just got heard.
Deontay Foreman might have arole in Pittsburgh.
Kyle Pitts is like an amazingtight end, possibly.
(28:29):
Well, I wouldn't keep him, buthe's got $4.
Never mind that.
Jalen Warren at $13.
I mean, there's some valuethere, but you know, again, you
can keep three.
He's going to let go of a lotof talent on his roster.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Yeah, I mean I look
at his roster, I see nine guys
that are worthy of keeping andthat's almost it.
I mean they're all.
All those nine guys are under$26.
That's just, that's just insane.
I mean, just, dill had theperfect draft last year.
I've never, I don't think we'll, I don't know if we'll receive
that perfect of a draft everagain.
I mean it was, it was flawless, perfect, I know.
(29:06):
By the way, also, josh Yannisis starting quarterback.
That helped him a lot as welltoo, but he's got to let Josh go
.
So the question, I think, withhim is do you go with the guy
that are maybe the?
The people consider the creamof the crop, which I think if
you're looking at the widereceiver rankings, you go okay,
jim Marches, cooper Cup, or theguys that are usually you know
their consensus kind of top fiveguys as far as wide receivers,
(29:29):
and then you take either KennethWalker of Rees Hall or or you
decide to just go hey, I can gocheap and spend up somewhere
else and maybe keep.
I mean, if you're thinking thatway, then you like, I'm keeping
Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
That's $14 right there and, bythe way, it's just throwing
Kenneth Walker and that's $26and you got three.
(29:51):
Like if this is a snake draft, that's run in my head right now.
These are guys that are allgonna go in the first three
rounds of a snake draft.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
So and yeah, and that
would.
There is really I mean youstate a good argument.
There's really no wrong answerhere.
It's just like you're rollingthe dice as to which one you
want to go with.
I mean, if I had to pick three,I have a really hard time
passing up Jim Marches, eventhough at $22 and that's an
(30:19):
incredible bargain for maybe oneof the someone can make an
argument that Jim Marches mightbe the number one player next
year on the draft board and Iwouldn't argue with that Cooper
Cup.
There's some scare moments.
If that guy stays healthy.
You're talking about anothernumber one possible player in
the league.
If he stays healthy, garrettWilson I mean that to me is a no
(30:41):
brainer.
That's someone you got to keep.
That's the guy who looks at allpractical purposes, looks like
could explode this year and hehaven't got $4.
But then if you, if you keepthose three, you're gonna lose
Brown.
You're gonna lose a lot of aWalker, the people that you're
talking about.
I might take a pass on Walkeronly because Charbonnet been
picked up by the Seattle and itcould be more of a committee
(31:04):
there.
But enough of a scare that I'dbe willing to drop Kenneth
Walker.
But regardless, if I were him,I'd be going with Chase, coupe
and Wilson.
But then now we're getting ridof Almond on the St Brown,
you're getting rid of ChrisAlavi and that's a tough and
Jane Waladdle that's tough toswallow.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yeah, I think I'm
looking at that.
Fans will say Alavi at 25.
I think that's way too low.
Like you have something likeJake London in front of him.
Like I have no idea why.
I think Alavi is a flat-outstud.
I personally, I think, would, Ithink I mean I would.
I'm not uncomfortable withWalker, you know.
So I think I think Charbonnetoh, come on, he's easily guy,
(31:48):
those backs usually there's alot, except for a separate
restart Jones, I think it wasthe only.
It seemed like he's good, usually running back.
That's ever, that's ever been.
I think I would definitely go.
I think I might just go throughmy receivers and get you.
There's no wrong answer.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
I'd probably go to
Marjays, alavi and Wilson and
again, I wouldn't, I wouldn'targue that that pack whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
I'm not afraid of the
re-sol thing either, like I'm
not afraid of the, the, the, the, the Calvin Cook re-sol.
I think.
I think that Jets they want tokind of like it's kind of an
insurance for the first part ofthe season and I think as the
year goes on, you know Cook hashad a proclivity for getting
hurt himself.
I think you know freeze alldown the stretch, especially for
(32:31):
talking to fans in footballplayoffs.
He could be huge, he could belike a monster during this.
That's my only pause with himthat he could be huge, as the
saw.
Just to say I'm not scaredabout keeping, keeping him well,
I wouldn't be either.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
I mean, I would keep
my could, I will, you know,
pretty tall, not on top of that.
But like you're looking atbigger picture next year, do I
think his number support isvalue?
Maybe not.
I do believe quick will be morethe bell help, bell cal.
Then breeze hall will be but Icould be wrong over that.
But I do believe down cooksonly gonna be there for a year
(33:07):
and I think he's gonna be onanother team the year after and
it's gonna be the breeze Hallshow.
So like, if you drop him, wellhe's gonna go back into the
draft and someone gonna keep himfor three years and you're
gonna miss out on.
So you know that argument.
What you're stating isn'tunbalanced.
I would agree with you.
But then again, if you go withbreeze hall, you gotta drop
someone, and who you gonna dropexactly, exactly it's.
(33:28):
It's a hard decision and I knowDale, with all his football
acumen, is gonna make a greatchoice yes, and he is the one of
the most curious to see who'son the board, who we keep and
who he releases, because we'reall salivating the fact that we
cannot get some of those players.
I mean even some of the likeyou look at some of those low
(33:48):
bench players.
For him, most are value.
Jaylin Warren there's value.
The on tape foreman there'sarguments to say that those guys
are worth keeping by themselvesyeah until I those are anyone I
would consider right now forthe your top three.
But you can argue that those arevalues that he has right there
and and some team they mightactually keep those guys yeah,
(34:10):
exactly.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Oh.
Good job Dale.
All right, I think we've.
We've masturbated over Dale'sroster enough roster me this
alright.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
So it's going to be
an ink on the second self-nation
.
We got a quarterback to thatpress $8.
He spent a lot on, say, clownMark Lee.
My all standard comes in at $21.
We got marquee's brown at 21,aj Brown at 41, mark Andrews at
23.
We got 20 Pollard at 21.
Right now you can eat on the.
(34:38):
Zardy Madison at 6, gibson at 9, waller can keep and I Damian
Pierce down there at 12.
You know that's not a bad listto pick from either.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yeah, and it ain't
gonna suck itself.
He's always got a solid roster.
I mean always.
We don't remember when wetalked about as keepers like
that or they were being giventhe season.
He's always in the mix, youknow, as far as who he's got,
like you said, he's got a niceroster.
He's got to let go of digs, letgo of a waller, that's fine,
(35:11):
but he's definitely got a lot ofoptions to pick from.
I think when I was kind ofcircling around his roster, I
was looking at AJ Brown and Iukeas possibilities of wide
receiver.
I was looking at Madison andPollard and Damian Pierce and
running back and looking at andI forget to say sorry, aj Brown
(35:31):
as well too, sorry wide receiverand also Mark Andrews.
You know, mark Andrews, wetalked about Travis Kelsey at
$37, you know.
The question is would you keepMark Andrews at $23, who's
arguably the second best tightend in football?
Speaker 1 (35:46):
That's a good point,
and I you know, from one
perspective, $23 is about andworthy of keeping.
Looking at his roster, I don'tknow if that's what picked,
though If he did I wouldn'tblame him and say that's a good
pick.
But man, he's got some toughchoices to make as well.
I kind of like the MilesSanders situation that he could
(36:08):
become the bowtale over there, where he wasn't the filly At $21
, even though it's a littlesteep.
So but there's one possibilitythere.
Like you said, aj Brown is oneof the top receivers at $41,.
That's a deal.
I'm definitely going with 20Pollard here, though at $21,
even though it's a little high.
They're gonna run the ball alot and I think 20 Pollard is
gonna be the show.
(36:28):
Alexander Madison, I think, isalso someone I would have to
keep at $6.
Guy's gonna be the bell teller,I do believe.
So those two and then itbecomes.
Maybe I just go all threerunning backs, even with Damian
Pierce.
I don't know if I go there.
I probably go.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
I'm right there with
you.
I'm not big on Sanders, I justI think Carolina's a horrible
offensive line.
I'm not a big fan there, but Idefinitely am on board with
Pollard and Madison and Pierce.
I think that would only tie youup 27, the $39, and you got
your running backs basicallytaking care of.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
And that's one of the
harder positions to take care
of, honestly.
But then you're looking atthrowing back a bunch of good
receivers.
It's gonna be really tough.
You'd be throwing back Andrews.
You'd be throwing back IU KevanOne can argue that maybe that's
okay.
But you're also throwing aboutAJ Brown, which is not, and of
course, steph on Dick, but he'snot with Choice in that one.
(37:27):
But he's throwing away a bunchof good receivers and he's gonna
have to go heavy back almost toget that value.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Absolutely,
absolutely yeah.
$41,.
Aj Brown I think he's reallygood.
I don't think he's the top five, so I think I'm okay, let them.
Let them go and, like you said,it's gonna be tough anyways,
and it's gonna be tough lettingAndrews go as well too.
But for me, I like the three, like you know, like the three
running backs.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Yeah, so that's the
probably way I would go, and
then just go heavy on receivers, quarterbacks, whatever you can
get.
All right, we good with that.
We good, we good, all right, moving on to the Taitown
Brawlers, taitown's got JustinFields, I think.
Looking at his roster earlier,I'm just gonna center a couple
things.
He's got two of the bestquarterbacks in the league and
(38:17):
Justin Fields.
And well, you got Geno Smith.
One could not say that's thetop one, but he still was in the
top 10 last year.
But he's also got Geno andHirsch.
Would you be willing to keepboth quarterbacks in this kind
of scenario?
Or, looking at the rest of hisroster, is he got too much
talent to be able to evenjustify that?
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Well, what I wanna
know is is it my give-o?
Yes on the Superflex, because Imean he would have been in
perfect position for theSuperflex role to go in effect?
I mean he would have been byfar the best team in that
scenario, just with those twoyoung quarterbacks.
So it's tough.
You know it's especially tough,chris.
(38:57):
I drafted Fields for a dollarlast year and you traded him and
then I dropped him.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Oh, dropped him when
he picked the ball.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
I dropped him when
nothing was going on in the
first.
I got, you know, skittish orlike that, and you know I mean I
like to keep grabbing widereceivers and running backs, but
I had it for a buck.
I probably would have kept himfor you know, whatever four
bucks was there, I still think.
You know, if you were doing theSuperflex you gotta keep them,
but we're not, and you gottadecide on which one you think is
(39:26):
better, which I think isclearly Jalen Hirsch.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
So I'm gonna put back
on that Like.
I don't disagree with you thatJalen Hirsch is the better
quarterback overall, but fantasyfootball I might go.
Justin Fields is better.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
I'm with it.
So I got, I got, I got, feelinglike I just I'd actually put a
wager on that.
Okay, you can put a wager.
Fancy Vivaldi index has a Hertz, is number two and has fields
probably too low at 13, to behonest with you.
But I think they're factoringin injury.
You know, he's still a youngguy, he's still making mistakes.
I think that's why theyprobably haven't rate a little
(40:08):
bit low.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Sure, but I'm just
telling you my perspective.
I'd actually rather keep Fields.
I think he's a bit of a more ofa home run strike out kind of
candidate in the situation.
But if I was picking it, I'dpick Fields over Hearst.
Okay, Both for value and Ithink he's actually gonna be
better.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
For my point of view,
a quarterback, it's Mahomes,
allen and Hertz, and those areby far the top three and they're
interchangeable.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
I'm not disagreeing
with you, I'm just telling you
how I feel.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Oh, tell me how you
feel.
Tell me how you feel.
Tell me how you feel Otherwise, the rest of my roster.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
I'm not getting
really excited about.
Yeah, so who is there anybodyoutside of those top two
quarterbacks that you would seeworthy of keeping?
Speaker 2 (40:52):
I think Jerry Judy is
a possibility to $18.
Maybe he's rejuvenated by, youknow, the new coach, sean Payton
, devonta Smith at $15.
But I think he's solid.
You know, good number two.
I don't think he's necessarilygiven the wild territory as far
as the number two, but I thinkhe's good in the never-ingram at
$10.
(41:12):
But you know it's unfortunatelyhe doesn't have anybody super
cheap and it's kind of whatyou're going for sometimes with
these.
But if I was, you know I thinkwell, everything in Grim, I
think, is really good at $10.
We just talked about, you know, kelsey and then Andrews.
We keep kind of going down alittle bit.
I think every Grim Grim has agreat chance to be top five as
far as the tight ends.
So would you want to invest $10in that?
I personally would not.
(41:33):
So I would probably look atjust keeping Jalen Hertz and
Devonta Smith.
Speaker 1 (41:40):
Yeah, and I wouldn't
argue that I might be really
tempted to keep Jared Judy.
I do believe Denver is going tobe a lot better this year and
he's going to be a number onereceiver.
I might go with him as my third.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Yeah, I would say I
think about too.
He just seems like a heartbreakplayer.
I don't know why you know, hejust he is just flashes of
brilliance and then you don'tsee him again for like three
games and it's like.
But he has the potential and Ithink Mikey believes in that.
I could see him keeping JaredJudy for sure.
But on the side I really likehim, the idea of him keeping
(42:14):
Hertz and Devonta Smith just ascrew up, just a, just a kind of
toy with a Dougie.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Throw him up for
trade bait and say, oh, I want
twice what he's worth.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Maybe he keeps fields
.
Maybe he keeps fields and he'slike, okay, I got fields, I'm
going to trade Hertz, but you'rein a bad position there.
I think so Awesome.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
Now let's go to the
league winner.
I don't respect.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
I don't respect.
I think we should do mine next.
And they had the league winnerlast year.
Do you agree?
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Okay, that's fair.
Okay, I like it.
We'll go to your team, who wepunted earlier and now we're
going to come back to, and youhave a very interesting choices
here.
I mean, realistically, you havesome of the some of the better
players on this list that Iwould say they're intriguing.
The issue with your team, Iwould say, as I look at your
(43:03):
intriguing team, is there's alot of question marks to all of
them.
The one, the two that I don'tsee a question mark behind are
the two Joe Burrow $11.
I think that's a great deal andI'd probably keep him.
That's not really much of aquestion.
Travis Etienne even he has alittle bit of a question, but
I'd probably keep him.
Joe Bixon no, I'm throwing himback because, only because he's
(43:25):
$59.
Pachinko at 14, that's whatevervalue.
Dk Metcalf is $25.
I wouldn't argue that either.
Now, nothing to argue there.
Dj Moore is a great player, alittle high on the $34, so I
probably wouldn't keep him.
Hawkinson would definitely beworthy at $11.
(43:46):
Najee Harris no, only becausehe's $57.
Pickens I would definitely beinterested in $7.
Williams I'd be interested ifhe wasn't being suspended.
Jameson Williams at $4.
Christian Watson as you know, caught on fire at $3.
You got Calvin Ridley, which Ithink could be a stud pick for
(44:07):
you, at $3.
Even Zameer White might bestarting if Josh Jacobs doesn't
show up, at $7.
You got Duff, duff, romeo, dubs, duff's there, sorry at $4.
You have interesting choiceshere.
It's all like you have nobody.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
Yeah, I think it's
the difference between I have a
little like.
Dale Smith except Dale's islike they're already proven and
these guys look like they'regonna be superstars.
Mine is like potentiallysuperstars.
And so it's second class.
So I am a little worried aboutBarona's injury right now.
So I don't know how serious itis.
There's actually talking mightmiss at least the first game or
(44:46):
two as a potential.
So I'm a little worried aboutthat.
Etienne, just I don't know.
I don't know if Phil Delphi isPhil Delphi but Jacksonville is
doing, I think, of Peterson.
I don't know what they're doingwith him.
Like he looked like the perfectpass catcher and then they I
think they threw like kind oflike 10 catches.
I was like some stupid number.
And so I'm like a littleworried about Etienne and
(45:08):
Bolfero, which looked like nobrainer keepers.
And so now I'm starting to fadea little bit towards it.
Go towards the Hawkinson whojust caught fire when he went to
the Vikings.
He just he was awesome and hehas the potential.
I don't think he this is alittle bit of a thing he has the
potential to unseat Kelsey.
He has the potential, it'sthere.
Whether that happens it'sprobably a long shot.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
And you know there's
going to be opportunity there,
cause who?
Who does the Viking have tothrow the ball?
I mean, who the catch the ball?
Jefferson, who's obviouslyamazing, but who else do they
have to catch the ball?
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Yeah, not well, yeah,
the nut.
Well, they got the new guy, addison, they got the new the
rookie, but he's a rookie, soyou don't know, until you know,
till it happens.
So so I think he's gonna get ahuge, huge share.
He wasn't a big as biggerfactor in the red zone, but that
could always change.
So you talk about Metcalfe $25is a decent price, but I mean he
(46:04):
only, he was only like 20th,you know.
So I could see Pickens, watson, ridley, all be within the top
20, potentially, potentially.
So why not go for the guys thatare cheaper?
So for me, I'm looking at,looking at Hawkinson, I'm
looking at Watson is probably my, my consensus right now, the
guy that I'm gonna keep so I'mlooking at Watson, hawkinson and
(46:27):
Ridley as well too is my threepotential keepers.
Now, if, if Jacobs is going tohold out and it looks like it's
going to extend that I'llprobably take a mirror white
instead.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
That's good choices,
only one, I mean.
I would not argue with anythingyou just said.
Joe Burrow, I might replace wasthe one, but I'm not sure who
really would not be sure whohave replaced that with.
But then again, $11, joe Burrow, would you get a cheaper?
Definitely not.
Would you get more expensive?
Yes, but I don't know how muchmore expensive he would be.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Yeah, and he's not.
He's not top three, but he's.
He's probably top five or six,if I can read right right around
there.
So he's not, he's not dog me,but I'm just a little injury and
and I could change my mindbefore between now, next
Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
So oh yeah,
definitely.
And again, you have choices, which is good, and.
But you do have some of thoseswing and miss kind of
candidates and they could besuperstars or they can be duds,
and each of them have like atleast a little bit of a question
mark.
And I agree with the DK Metcalf.
I mean, he's probably the mostconsistent in there of being
solid and knowing what you'regoing to get.
(47:33):
About $25, is that worth thatvalue which DK math, math, math,
math cap is going to bring toyou, especially now that they
got that rookie receiver comingin.
Of course we got lock intocourt, you know.
So going the ball, is there anyregression?
I don't believe you fordropping DK Metcalf.
You know $25.
I probably would do the sameand go with some of the other
guys that cheaper absolutely soshould be excited to see what we
(47:58):
keep.
Speaker 2 (47:59):
Yes the next the
champion.
The champion is the last teamto review the San Francisco
fourth and nine or so.
I'll take it off for us.
I'll do the the intro, so Idon't know the steam one Now.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
I think we got, he's
got he's got.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
He's got.
I mean the consensus number, Imean the game we taught top
three guys with Patrick, I wasstill number one as far as, as
far as a quarterback position.
You guys that were kind ofundervalued, the guys he
actually kept the year beforegame counter for net and they
did a.
Both of them did a good job.
Yes, really were banged upoccasionally, but they did.
You know they were, they weregetting them points that were
doing well.
Well, williams, who started hereand there, also had a ton of
(48:41):
touchdowns.
So that worked out nicely foryou.
And then you know, you hadJustin Jefferson and the number
one, my receiver, potentiallythe fantasy MVP of last year.
He was, he was a stud.
So you kind of wrote a lot ofthat.
You got pop primary, actuallykind of quietly, actually had a
pretty decent season for tightend.
And then, of course, you got alot of other decent players out
(49:04):
there Michael Carter, jamesRobinson oh, you got a trade
with James Robinson JK Don.
Jk Don is gave Davis OdellBeckham, junior Khalia Herbert
so, and Deandre Hopkins as wellto Drake London.
I didn't mention him.
So and I forgot to mentionTyler.
I do it too.
So you had bits and pieces, andsomehow you got those bits and
pieces that get you thechampionship.
So kudos to you.
(49:25):
Now it's time to decide whowe're going to keep.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
Well, I won't tell
you one thing.
That one thing that actuallygot me the championship wasn't
having a great team, but I hadthe right situations, like Jamal
Williams, like when do want toswitch what out?
You know he was a stud and Iput him in that week and he
would do really, really well.
You know.
You know clear, clear, harvard, same thing when that we get the
(49:48):
starter out, he'd be the bellcow for the game and I would
have a good game out of them.
But really, to be honest withyou, what really got me the
championship had to be with twoplayers with my homes and Justin
Jefferson, and I'm so gratefulthat Justin Jefferson is only on
your two for me so I get tokeep him next year.
Speaker 2 (50:04):
No, that's no easy,
easy, easy.
He's off your roster.
$70.
$70.
You can grab.
You can grab Jefferson to giveus $70 and Travis Kelser $70,
and there's your hundred fortyright there.
Speaker 1 (50:22):
Anyways, keeping a
look at my even as I look at it,
I see really only one player.
Well, I'm going to tell you,I'm definitely keeping two,
maybe three, but even at thosetwo that I'm thinking about are
marginal players, and I thinkyou already know who they are.
But the only one for sure I'mkeeping is Patrick Maltz.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
We just joke, by the
way.
So just just imagine thesincerity there Jefferson for
$70, you get Kelser for $70, youget my homies for $21, getting
like $161.
That's not, it's a, it's a,it's a winner.
Die roster right there.
But you know that's a starter.
That would be too bad.
I would be proud of you if Idid that.
I'd be pretty incredible nowthat I think about it.
(51:07):
But I look at your roster.
I think you know the underHopkins, I mean, lands in an OK
situation.
He's obviously getting a littlebit lower.
But oh, he's only.
Hopkins is necessarily passesprime.
He's a little injury prone.
You know, I think, you know, Ithink ten years of service,
local quarterbacks.
I think you have to beconcerned.
In him there Jamal Williams ofcourse kind of takes on the lead
role with, with Kamara being atthe first three weeks.
(51:30):
So just that $4 spend just forthose first three weeks.
You could see some value in.
Although where he goes in thedraft we don't, we wouldn't know
.
I don't welcome this intriguingat $7.
You know so.
But how much?
How much does he?
Again, he's not an old guy buthe's kind of had this injury
history and things like thatkind of material sort of guy.
So what is he going to do?
(51:50):
And then James Conner stillkind of is kind of the in
question running back still inArizona, although it's kind of a
shaky team with the, you know, without Murray for the first at
least several weeks.
So I mean, as you said, PatrickHolmes is a no brainer.
I mean, you got to, you got tokeep phones for $21 to me,
that's, that's done.
Now it's a matter of decidingif you want to get Conner,
Hopkins, Williams, Beckham orjust kind of go, you know what.
(52:11):
I'm going to save my money anduse that $70 on Justin Jefferson
.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
And that could be a
possibility and I'm more leading
.
I'm pretty strong and probablykeeping the Andre Hopkins
because it's only six dollarvalue.
I can't really go too muchwrong with, you know, six bucks
right there.
The one that's really kind ofmore in question for me is, I do
a keep, james Conner 14.
He is like the least sexy pick, but he is a starting running
(52:40):
back with no one behind him and,as you know, that is the mid.
That may not be a sexy pick butit's got a value to have a
starter period, you know, and hecatches five balls in the
backfield and run for 50 yards.
You know I just had a good gamefrom him overall.
But, like you very mucheloquently stated, arizona is
(53:06):
going to be in the running forthe number one draft pick next
year and James Conner also hasan injury prone history and
those two don't bold well forhaving productive fantasy
football season.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Yeah, I totally,
totally with it there and
there's.
We did mention we got some ofanother intriguing play, like
Jacob Domes I had mentioned, Imean, and Gabe Davis do.
Guys are intriguing, and KhalilHerbert as well too, also
intriguing as well too, but thedollar value is probably what's
probably preventing you fromkeeping any.
The same thing with DrakeLondon as well, to probably
(53:41):
prevent you from keeping theJohnson, another guy probably
preventing you from keepingthose guys.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
Yeah, no, and if any
of those guys were a little bit
better value, they definitely bein the running for keeping, but
at this point I don't think Iwill.
And the problem with JamalWilliams, even though he's been
a description of the first week, like you said, will be in a
good spot.
I heard they might sign creamhunt on the Viking or, sorry, in
the Saints.
And so it could be all bad forJamal Williams and any value of
(54:08):
keeping him.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
Yeah, but every team
is good.
Every team has got it on creamand it seems like the last, the
last two weeks, that's true?
Who?
Speaker 1 (54:16):
knows.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
Who knows?
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I got to Wednesday to
figure it out.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
Got to Wednesday, so
so but yeah, I mean, even if you
like you bad for going home, that's still good.
I mean, I mean you're stillgetting the number one.
I get arguably number one, youknow, fantasy player in football
.
Speaker 1 (54:33):
So yeah, yeah, don't
just hear that.
Cool.
I think that kind of wraps itup.
Or our look at the rosters aswe go into fantasy football.
A giraffe week.
Next week we have one of thebest players out there to be
able to do some fun stuff withsome good people, and 30 years
running.
I would say there's a couplenegatives I was to.
(54:54):
Being away from home was alwayshard, but for me it's always
the difficulty of leaving myclassroom on the first full week
of school Never ideal, butalways worth it after seeing you
guys and having a great time.
I don't think there's ever beena weekend I've gone up there
and not had a great time, and soeverybody out there.
I'm so grateful to be able tosee you guys this week.
(55:15):
Can't wait to have the draftand have a wonderful weekend.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
Absolutely yeah.
So yeah, going to be great andgoing to be wonderful drafts and
hope everybody makes greatkeeper choices or back keeper
choices those, those good guysback in the pool, that'd be
great.
I'd be happy for that.
Speaker 1 (55:34):
Me too, and that's
why I look forward to seeing who
keeps who and what we have tolet the pool from.
I'm just glad that I'm only onyear two and Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
So, anyways, all
right, buddy, great, great
preseason work as always, andhopefully we can get to the
podcast still going into theseason, and the end of what was
obviously the next one will be adraft recap, so hopefully
people will look forward to that.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
Definitely.
That's been a lot of fun andwe're getting long and hours
here and we're going to sign off.
Anyways, Scott, sign us off.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
I'm getting a little
tired.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
And that was our
special guest Good night.
