Welcome to the
Small Business Big mindset
podcast, where we dive intotactical strategies to grow your
business and make an impact onthis world. A huge part of
success is keeping your mindsetand vision on track. So this is
a major part of our process. Andthis podcast. Let's do this
(00:26):
Hi there and welcome to thesmall business of being mindset
podcast. This week, we are goingto talk about a I just a quick,
quick conversation. There is somuch to talk about chat GBT AI
like what is especially inwriting, that's what we're gonna
focus on. This week. Again, veryquickly, I just want to go over
some points is AI and writing afriend or a foe? Right. So very
(00:52):
quick, quick training, I willexpand upon my thoughts about AI
and future trainings. But fornow, I just wanted to address
this one teeny tiny topic aboutit. So when people started
applying AI to writing, I'll behonest, I was cynical, at best.
I have written my entire life.
And I'm so grateful that I getto do it as my career. So the
(01:13):
mere thought of artificialanything, when it came to
creating the written word. Well,it went against every fiber of
my being, because for me, thepoint of writing, to put pen to
paper or finger to keyboard,it's to create something
genuine. Even if it's fiction,it's supposed to come from a
(01:35):
place of organic creativity. Sowhen I heard artificial
intelligence, I was like, oh,gosh, here we go. But I'm not
one to blindly shut somethingdown. So I did take a deeper
look. And AI is here to stay.
Okay, well, we would be silly toignore it and hope it goes away.
And actually, it's been prettycool. Leverage leveraging AI, in
(02:01):
different facets of my life, especially in in writing. So as
such, how do we as writersleverage it to our liking,
right? So ultimately, when itcomes to writing is AI a friend
or a foe? So turns out, it canbe both. So I'm committed to
using the technology for good.
And I'm seeing AI as a friend. Iguess I like to joke. Maybe it's
(02:26):
more like you, you keep yourfriends close, but your enemies
closer. So a few ways that I seeAI as being a friend. Is it it
really helps with a writer'sblock, right? So I think we've
all been there, you're staringat a blank page with that
cursor. blinking cursor, right?
(02:51):
You're like, you're like, oh,what? How do I start? Well, that
can be a thing of the past withAI. So if you give AI a topic,
it'll blurt out tons of thoughtstarters, right? Just given a
topic and see what see what apppops out. That's the thing
though, please consider themthought starters. Okay, and
don't just copy and pastewhatever it spits out, it'll
burn you. And we'll go into thatmore on the photos section
(03:15):
below. I have used a I you know, just for starters, for ideas
around titles, really specificthings, right. And you do need
to be specific with what you'reasking AI to create for you. And
then I kind of mold it in myvoice and the direction that I
(03:35):
want to go a God of just helpsme brainstorm. Okay. I joke that
it's the Millennium Falcon ofspeed. The output of AI, it puts
the quickest of writers toshame. It'll give you title
options. It'll research results.
It'll give you formatting ideas, really in the blink of an eye
very, very quickly. And then youcan take what it gives you and
(03:58):
even hone in on it even more. Ifyou're looking for cheap labor,
look no further. Many AIsolutions are free or at least
have a free version. Forexample, chat GBT is free. I've
only used the free version. Butapparently there's a paid
version called jet chat. GBTplus, I have not checked that
(04:19):
out personally. Seo. Okay, thisis like the fourth and final
thing I'll go over is AI as afriend. Ai pulls from content
that is already popular andkeyword laden. So it'll help you
out it's as content that'salready been vetted. And so you
if you're having these keywordswithin your own copy, it'll help
your content to be found via SEOor Search Engine Optimization.
(04:44):
Okay. AI as a foe, right? So,super generic content will get
you eaten alive. People will seeright through it. So am I
content, it's leaps and boundsbetter than what it used to be.
But don't let your guard down.
(05:05):
All AI generated content needsto be carefully vetted by a
human yourself or someone onyour team. Some of it still
comes across as very likesurface content. So it's not
really worth anyone's time toread kind of like the fluff
stuff, right. And so youraudience will either call you on
it directly, or they'll simplystop ingesting your content,
(05:27):
right. And they'll let you knowindirectly by you'll see your
engagement decreasing. Sowhatever it pops out, again,
write it in your own words, diveinto it deeper, make sure that
content is quality, and peopleare going to walk away having
learned something from it.
Second point of why it could bea foe, it's in the details,
you've got a fact check. AI issimply pulling info from the
(05:49):
web. So while checks andbalances are in place of it, it
may pull things that are out ofdate, or that are simply not
true. It's not worth losing thetrust and respect of your
readers, you've got to doublecheck. Number three, rights
issues can be a nightmare. TheAI I've seen does not cite so
its sources. So unless you do asearch, you're not going to know
(06:10):
where this info has come fromthat can get dicey as it brings
plagiarism into play. In thearea of art and imagery. I've
already read articles of artistswho feel slighted by AI as
people are sharing their work issomething created by AI and not
credited crediting them. Numberfour, it can never have your
voice. This really should benumber one, people read your
(06:32):
content because of you, yourpersonality, your voice, your
tone, the way you communicateresonates with them. So many
people write about the sametopics such as the pros and cons
of AI. But your readers comeback to you because the way you
speak to them is special AIcannot replace you. And
actually, I'll give you a bonusthing to think about as well.
(06:55):
Please don't put any sensitiveinformation into these AI bots.
Okay, there have been instancesof like, security breaches and
risks when you're because again,it's cataloguing all this
information that it's got thatit goes through. So keep the
sensitive, secure confidentialinformation out of your AI
(07:15):
searches, at least for now. Soas with anything, there's pros
and cons, right, AI is nodifferent. But rather than
snubbing our noses at it,especially those of us who have
been writing for a living fordecades, we need to embrace it.
It's just a new flavor oftechnology. And there are ways
to make it work for you. Takeadvantage of the perks about it
that will make your life as awriter easier, and just leave
(07:37):
the rest. So there you have it.
I love to hear your thoughts onAI, especially as it pertains to
writing. So give me a holler atAaron at muscle creative.com.
And let's chat about it. I wouldlove to collaborate with some of
you guys, and how we can use AIfor good and writing. So that's
it this week. I will see younext week with a new episode.
