In September 1988, the skeletal remains of a woman were found off the road in a wooded area in central Florida. An initial examination was conducted by a highly skilled forensic anthropologist and artists provided sketches of what the unidentified woman might have looked like, but the case went cold without ever being able to provide an identity for the woman.
In 2010 advances in DNA technology would reveal additional insights into the life and history of the unidentified woman that contradicted the initial forensic examination and provided a new line of inquiry for investigators, effectively breathing new life into a long cold case.
