Speaker 1 (00:01):
Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome back. That's right, Welcome back to
another edition of s m B a South Park Review,
or each and every week we break down south Park
for you in linear fashion, one by one until every
episode is done, or until we're at least caught up.
(00:25):
And on tonight's episode, it's the season twenty two premiere,
Dead Kids, being the two hundred and eighty eight overall
episode of South Park as it first aired on September
the twenty sixth, twenty eighteen. This is SMB number two
hundred and ninety one. I'm MSG, I'm not alone. I'm
joining this evening, of course, by our co host William
(00:48):
Frederick Cody aka Joe Vernola aka the Trivia God. What's up, Joe?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh? Not a whole? Help live another day? Another dollar
is a holler at the world.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Well, I'm glad you're making the world holler. I'm glad
you're making those dollars, and I'm glad you're making all
those people new followers, and I'm glad you're safe. And
I'm glad you're not in school anymore, because if you were, Joe,
you would have to contend with the fact that there
are school shootings going on in the world and right
(01:31):
now that is the topic of this week's episode. Sharon
is abnormally emotional and is getting Randy down in this
episode of Dead Kids once again the twenty second season
twenty two premiere. At south Park Elementary, mister Nelson is
giving out the results of an exam back to the class.
(01:51):
Missus Nelson, I'm sorry, is giving other results of the
exam back to the class. She explains that some people
did well, whereas others failed, and proceeds to teach them
again about the questions they got wrong. Cartman is annoyed
as he failed even though he copied off Tolkien, who
passed halfway through the class. The shooting starts outside the
class or the class act like though it's normal, continue
(02:12):
to answer Missus Nelson's questions, and even when swap members storman.
Cartman complains the teacher that Tolkien changed his answers after
Cartman copied him to make Cartman fail, but she does
not hear him. While that's going on outside, police reporters
on doctors are all around sorting out the shooting, and
the boy's nonchalantly walk out with Cartman angry about Tolkien
(02:33):
making him fail. Sharon runs up to the boys distress
and takes Stan away, saying that they will sort the
mess out, leaving Cartman to wonder what is wrong Because
at this point, now so many school shootings are happening,
it's starting to feel normalized. So even Cartman is like big.
(02:54):
So let's jump into some clips here on another edition
of s m B A South Ark review. As we
start with south Park Elementary.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Oh, I want you all to take a close look
at your math exams.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Children.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Some of you did very well, but many of you
did not. Ah Man, the addition of fractions is very simple.
Let's run through it again. How do we solve this
first one?
Speaker 4 (03:27):
To get it?
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Food butters?
Speaker 6 (03:32):
It's just tominators.
Speaker 7 (03:35):
Wait wait, token got an egg, but I cheated off
to it.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
I can't hear you, Eric, I said something's wrong.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
I got an f but I cheated off. Hokag. And
now we're divide, right, Frank, how about you? What are
we dividing?
Speaker 8 (03:50):
Divide four by second the four or by the four
from clear? Now we're gonna take the exact I am
on Friday.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
Sure is in the hall. Now I'm giving you an
opportunity to do better. I hope you take advantage of it.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
You can see why Token e raised answers and broad
in the right ones. He did it to me on
burd Pack.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
Now let's move on to the next equation.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
All right, So, as mentioned now outside out school, Cartman
pissed cheating.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Off of him, so he deliberately put down the wrong answers.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
Why would he do that?
Speaker 6 (04:26):
I slunk that test too. I don't understand fractions. They
don't make any sense. That's not the point, you, guys.
Why is Token out to get me? There's something going on.
Speaker 9 (04:33):
School shooting today has left students in shock and disbelieve.
Speaker 6 (04:36):
Yeah, Token's probably sick of you cheating off of them
all the time. But why, Now that's the question, Kyle,
I always cheat off Token. Why did he choose now
to hurt me?
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Stanley? Stanley, Oh my god, baby, you're okay.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Hey mom, it's all right, Stanley.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
We're gonna go home and talk about this with your
dad and we will get through this as a family.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Come on, get in the car.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
But that's dance Man's assad man.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Well, Well, what I mean I think any parent would
have any parent would have that same reaction.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Well, no, it clearly not because she's the only parent
there that's true.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Everybody else feels like it's normalized at this point. And
now back at the Marsh's house, Sharon asks Stand to
tell Randy what happened at school. Stan initially believes she's
talking about this test scores, but later realizes that she
means the school shooting. Randy asked he was involved in
the shooting, and when Stan answers no, he decides to
query on the math test instead. Sharon flips out, angry
(05:45):
that he does not care, and runs up to her bedroom.
Randy goes to see if she's okay, but Sharon is upset,
angry that there was a school shooting and no one
seems to care. Randy suggests it's because she is on
her period, and she yells at him again, so Randy leaves,
annoyed that he will have to go through this period
thing again. This whole episode, Randy just believes that Sharon's
on her period. Yeah, he did.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Like I'm putting the carp before the horse here with
the likes and dislikes, but like the whole time, he's
just like miming to people. While she's talking to He's
like making the red wave or whatever it's it's so
(06:30):
it's Randy at his randiest right.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Also at the school, PC principal Mister mackie're speaking to
both Cartman and Tolien and the principal's office. Carmen explains
that he thinks Tolkien is trying to get at him
because of the rumors that Cartman did not like Black Panther.
Tolkien tells him that he has nothing to do with it,
as he's not even seen Black Panther, leading Cartman to
be shocked and to believe that he is trying to
cover it up. And another school shooting occurs in the background,
(06:56):
and Mackie goes out to sort it, and then even
back at the Marshal Sharon has called the parents over
to discuss the school shootings. Randy seems bored of it.
Steven starts speaking to say that it's not something they
should worry about. Randy stops and by trying to communicate,
as you mentioned, through charades, to tell him that this
is due to her period. Laura Tucker brings up the
(07:17):
unsafe playground, leading Sharon to flip out of everyone for
comparing shootings to dangerous playgrounds, much to everybody's shock again.
Everybody seems to be okay with it except for Sharon,
And that's what this whole episode is commenting on the
fact that everyone is just normalized by it now, and
Sharon seems to be the only one, so that makes
(07:37):
her insane. All right, here's the March residence where they're
eating dinner.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
Uh oh, I flunk my math quiz?
Speaker 9 (07:49):
No?
Speaker 5 (07:49):
The other thing?
Speaker 10 (07:51):
What other thing? What happened at school today? Oh?
Speaker 6 (07:56):
The school shooting?
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Yes, the school shooting.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Uh yeah, some kids shut up at school?
Speaker 10 (08:02):
Who shot up the school? Was it you?
Speaker 2 (08:04):
You? No?
Speaker 10 (08:07):
Oh? Well, what's this about failing a math quiz?
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Are you serious?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Did you said you?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Kids died at his school?
Speaker 10 (08:19):
I'm sorry, Sharon?
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Are you all acting like this normal? What is wrong
with you people?
Speaker 6 (08:29):
What's up Mom's acts?
Speaker 10 (08:33):
Hey, Sharon, you're doing okay?
Speaker 5 (08:35):
No, I'm not okay? Children were shot?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
If they were killed out of school where they were
supposed to be safe?
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Uh huh?
Speaker 10 (08:45):
What else is going on?
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Why isn't anyone else emotional?
Speaker 10 (08:54):
Han?
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (08:56):
When was your last I mean, you know how some
times things can seem like a little bigger deal because
you know down.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
There, don't dare suggest that I'm only emotional because.
Speaker 10 (09:08):
I'm just I'm just pointing out that it is around
that time. I love you, honey. I'll leave you alone
another three days of this problem.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Far as sharing all right now, back at south Park Elementary.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
Token, there are some terrible things that I realize you
might have heard from the other kids here.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
It's cute.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
There's some rumors that have been going around about me
that that I thought Black Panther was a terrible movie.
There's rumors that I said it was a structural mess.
You know that the rhinos were really stupid. I want
to assure you that I never said anything like that.
I loved Black Panther. So if you know, you feel
like there's a need to come after me, to get
back at me, I just need you to know that
(09:59):
people are lying because I liked Black Panther just as
much as you did. I am not a racist. I
actually never saw Black Panther.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Stay, what of it? What you're talking about?
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Come on, rash, you never stop Black Panther. No, I
didn't see it, but I thought all of you saw it.
I got this one. Everybody get the.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Can we wet the drop? Just like randomly, everybody get
the fuck.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
I'll put that on my board for next episode. More
mister Mackie, because mister Mackie's got some pretty pretty good ones.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
If you throw it away, I will rape he in
the mode.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
I will rape he in your fucking.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Mom loll die.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
But also, miss Garrison, everyone.
Speaker 10 (11:00):
Sit down and shut the fuck up.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
God damn it.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Stupid ass man, stupid man.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
All right, let's jump ahead now here. Back at the
Marsha residence.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
I'm sure you all heard, there was yet another school
shooting today. We have to figure out what we're going
to do as parents because this whole thing is out
of control. We have to randy ourselves why this is
happening and do something now.
Speaker 9 (11:31):
Well, you know, Sharon, I think it is a complex issue.
Speaker 10 (11:34):
You know, it's it's not really as simple as just.
Speaker 9 (11:39):
But what I'm saying is that that with issues like
this sometimes you have to be kind of crazy mimes
talking about.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Do you understand that our children are red?
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Got a red rag.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Crazy red at her the whole time.
Speaker 10 (12:01):
I agree with my wife, Well.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
With my wife, I mean, at least he does how
to cover himself.
Speaker 12 (12:11):
Right, seeing the state of the playground equipment, Not only
does it seem unsafe, but it's become quite an iCore.
Speaker 10 (12:17):
The whole park could use an upgrade, if you ask me.
It's become a camp out for the homeless.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
Are you fucking choking?
Speaker 4 (12:24):
You're gonna take one second to prepare child murder to
park upgrades?
Speaker 5 (12:29):
What is wrong with everybody? You've all got crazy?
Speaker 10 (12:38):
Anybody need a drink?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Sharon seems to be the only sane one here.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yeah, you're right. Maybe I was a little off saying
that she overreacts here, You're like, it's it's understandable. But like,
at the same time, I think the facadeer idea of people,
Oh we're all safe at school, we need to throw
(13:11):
that out the window. Like, until we have reason to
believe we're safe, we're not really safe. So you can't,
like you just have to kind of do what you
can in your own regards to make yourself safe, I guess.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
And if you're watching this live, guys, do us a favorite.

(13:52):
We'll be live or not live, I'm sorry, but check
us out over the next coming days as well as
we'll have a brand new top takeaway.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Video, which speaking of Darren, I'm gonna start calling him
Nostra Domis because he said it six days ago that
there was gonna be some volcano going off in Russia.
And what happened yesterday.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
A volcano went off in Russia.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yeah, Well he's been falling along the earthquakes like crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
No I did, no, I know it just just Nostradamis
over there. He can't even call Nostra Domas because Darren's
actually accurate.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
We'll shout out to Darren if you're listening to this
later at the school next day, Now, the school has
an extra security, from metal gates to police dogs. Butters
walks down the corridor as a hall monitor with a gun.
He is called over by Cartman, who explains that his
mom is going to ground him from Fortnite if he
fails the next test. He asks him to help dig
up some dirt about Tolkien that he can use and
(14:52):
Back at the Marsh residence, in the kitchen, Randy is
crying at the table and being comforted by Gerald and
Stephen after seeing his wife's outburst in front of the
other parents. Sharon comes in to tell them about another
shooting and then flips out, and Randy reacts nonchalantly again.
Stephen suggests to Ranny that maybe she going through menopause.
To find out what this is, Randy visits Mala Vista
(15:13):
Middle School, the location of the school shooting, to ask
a doctor about what menopause is, and the doctor explains
it's when a woman stops having her period and warns
them that this could last years, leaving Randy shocked. And
Back at South Park Elementary, Cartman speaks to Nicole to
get dirt on Tolkien. She reveals that they are back together,
(15:33):
but refuses to give any further information. Cartman starts taking
pictures of Tolkien around the school in order to find something.
Analyzing the photos, he sees a Tolkien's parents and comes
up with an idea.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
I mean, that's a down ass check for Nicole, Like, yeah, no,
ain't I ain't giving you nothing.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
I ain't giving you shit, all right, So let's jump
back into the school. Are dogs metal detectors? Butters just
walking around with that? I'm guessing that's an ak uh.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
It's probably an AR fifteen.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
AR fifteen, all right, Butters? Yeah Carbon.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
Oh hey, Eric, Butters, I need help. My mom said
if I'd flunk another math head, she's gonna ground me
from playing Fortnite. Oh see, you want me to help
me steady, No, dumb ass, I need to get some
dirt on Token so he stops punishing me for what
I supposedly said about Black Panther, Black Andrew.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
That was a quat movie.
Speaker 9 (16:39):
No it wasn't.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
But now listen. Something Token wouldn't want people to know.
Something I can use is leverage. Well, what do you want?
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Manage you?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Now?
Speaker 6 (16:45):
I got home on him the duty. Just ask garround
if you find any dirt on Token, give me a
cab okay, Eric, This world is full of two types
of people, the ones who are honest and the ones
who don't play by the busies. Token's got everyone believe
I think he's the one African American in the entire country.
We didn't see Black Canther. What else is he thinking about?
Speaker 10 (17:21):
This is just so hard.
Speaker 9 (17:22):
You know, everything's going fine, and then at a certain
time of the month, I have to start walking on eggshells.
Speaker 13 (17:31):
It's all right, man, all right, many just once, I'd
like her to acknowledge it, you know, just once, say
you know, maybe I was overreacting a little bit because
of my hormones.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Randy.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
They just announced on the news there's been another school
shooting in Jefferson County, Okay.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Sharing cool?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
What is cool?
Speaker 5 (17:52):
Nothing?
Speaker 10 (17:52):
I love you, sweetheart.
Speaker 6 (17:54):
God, I don't know.
Speaker 10 (17:58):
I don't know what more if I could take.
Speaker 11 (18:00):
It's like I turned on the TV and dread they'll
say something about a school shooting because it's gonna set
my wife off.
Speaker 10 (18:06):
Well, Randy, have you.
Speaker 9 (18:08):
Stopped to think that maybe this problem is bigger than
Sharon's period?
Speaker 1 (18:13):
What do you mean?
Speaker 9 (18:14):
I mean that maybe what's going on really is a
big deal. What if this is actually menopause?
Speaker 10 (18:22):
Menopause?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I don't even know what that is. So now, Randy
jump we jumped forward to another school shooting. Here. This
is another middle school, which is I think this is
one of the first times we've actually seen a middle
school inside of South Park Elementary Malavista Middle School. That
is so Randy now goes there to find a doctor.
Speaker 9 (18:46):
Well, you see, mister Marsh, when the woman's over, he's
actually stopped producing eggs. It's a significant change. It's this
ending of the menstrual cycle in a woman's life.
Speaker 10 (18:54):
That we call.
Speaker 11 (18:56):
Oh but if a woman isn't having peeros anymore than,
why would she still overreact and be bitchy?
Speaker 9 (19:03):
Well, actually, menopause is one of the most severely hormonal.
Speaker 10 (19:06):
Times a woman ever goes through.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
It's good you thought the advice of a medical professional
because the changes in your wife's body are going to
be confusing and at times hard to cope with. Well, Wade,
you're saying, this could actually get worse. I'm afraid. So now, dad,
let's go on the other track. You see, mister Marsh,
menopause is almost like a super period, and it's been
known to last for up to two years.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Oh my god, yeah, yoh my god. H Okay, Carmen,
now inside the school with.
Speaker 6 (19:44):
Nicole, can I talk to you about what word on
the street is you and token her back together?
Speaker 7 (19:49):
We're trying just talking a lot and see if you
can work things out.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
Why did you break up with him? What did he
do to you?
Speaker 7 (19:55):
That's really out of your business.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
He didn't take you to see Black Panther with, did he?
That must have really stung.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Oh no, when you guys talk about how three Black
Panther was, what'd he say?
Speaker 7 (20:07):
We've never talked about it, right, You.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
Two guys just hang out and talk, and Black Panther
never comes down. I gotta get the class one point
three billion dollars domestic box office, a milestone for African Americans,
and I'm supposed to believe that token. It is little
sex kit never even talked about?
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Is little sex Kitten?
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Here's cartman, look at him. He's on the roof, got
a camera. He's taking pictures of Tokien.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
The OBSCOO test is in less than seventy two hours,
and let's I'll find a connection. I'll be grounded for
Fortnite for weeks. Hello moment, dad, Hello mom and dad.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
All right. So now inside the therapist's office, Sharing is
speaking about her worries that one day she will find
out her child had been shot. A therapist those gets
help from Randy, who's doing charades again to convey menopause. Sharon, confused,
notices Randy and runs out. She yells at him, saying
there's something wrong with everybody, and then at Cartman is
now at Tolkien's house, speaking to Steve and Linda Black
(21:13):
about Black Panther. He tries to dig dirt on Tolkien
until Tolkien finds him and kicks him out. Before he
leaves those, Steve reveals that Tolkien has not seen it
because it's PG. Thirteen, so he's not allowed to watch
it alone. Carton then believes Tolkien is trying to hide
the fact that he has seen Black Panther so we
not get in trouble, and then he leaves. And while
that's going on, Linda Statch and Harriet bigg O' come
(21:35):
to the Marshals to get Sharon, informing her that another
shooting has happened at the school. The three drive there
and Sharon runs in first. She sees all the parents
standing smiling at her with pedals all around. Randy comes
down the stairs, singing where do I begin Love story?
Sharon watchesn't shock, but eventually he gets bored of it.
So Randy's got the whole town, or at least all
the parents from the South Park Elementary Now all of
(21:58):
her friends now at the school as a way to
be like supporting her because she's apparently going through menopause.
Still not understanding that Sharon is upset over the fact
that they're school shootings and is probably not going through menopause.
All right, So here's back at the therapist's office.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I keep thinking, when will be the time that I
get the call? You know, when will I answer the
phone and find out my son my daughter were.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Killed at school?
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (22:33):
I see.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
I live in constant fear that I won't be there
to protect my children when something happens to them.
Speaker 11 (22:40):
Well, Sharon, have you maybe considered that your feelings are
partly due to handkerchief balls?
Speaker 14 (22:47):
What handkerchief balls? Handkerchief out, the balls in the back,
red handkerchief, No more handkerchief, no more red, zero empty,
Old lady.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
What I'm saying is that I'm so overwhelmed that I Old.
Speaker 10 (23:04):
Lady, where's my dick? Where's my dick?
Speaker 5 (23:07):
What the hell are you talking about? I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
God damn it, Randy.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Still acting like there's something wrong with me, something's wrong
with you.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
You try having some goddamn compassion.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 10 (23:33):
Read?
Speaker 1 (23:34):
What's up? Thanks for joining the chat? Did y'all see
south Park Homeland Security tweet. No, I did not see that.
South Park Homeland Security DHS still DHS use a still
laser to create a post on X and recruit people
to fill positions in ICE. Hours later, south Park fired
back and said, wait, so are we relevant? The posts
(23:54):
also included a hashtag directing DHS to do something else,
which you can read below. Okay, here we go. See
here's the tweet.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Here.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Let me end this sharing and I'll pull that up
so you guys can see it here share my screen. Oops,
I got an advertisement. All right, so here we are. Wait,
so are we relevant? Join ICE dot gov? Oh wow, okay,
so they used one of the recent still images from
(24:23):
the brand new episode that's supposed to drop. Okay, thanks
for informing us of that. Ree. We appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Oh that's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
That is fantastic. It's because Trump said South Park hasn't
been relevant in thirty years. Ah, okay, that makes more sense.
Really appreciate the update. That does make more sense. Now,
all right, back at the episode here, let's go ahead
and we'll jump into some more clips.
Speaker 6 (24:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Here's Cartman. Now at the token black Residence.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
You know, my other favorite part was when Black Panther
had those dreams about his dead father, I mean the
dad the tribally you're speaking to the new king about
being a good leader. I've never seen a movie do
that before, except for Lyon King of course, but Black
Panther was so aranged for Lion King of Yes. So, uh,
what was Token's favorite part of Black Panther?
Speaker 10 (25:12):
Token?
Speaker 6 (25:13):
Yeah, you must have all had some deep family talks
about it. What does tokens say about it on Black
Panther Family Discussion Night? Get out of my head yet,
sure thing? We were just talking about how your family
did see Black Panther.
Speaker 9 (25:26):
Oh no, not the family. Token's mom and I saw
it on date Night. We're gonna watch it again with Token,
though we don't let him watch it alone because it's
PG thirteen.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Huh.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
Well, I guess there's nothing more to it. Then nice
talking to you folks.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
That's funny, all right. So now we jump ahead and
here is Linda Stotch and uh what's her face?
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (25:55):
And Harriet Biggle of the Big Old Residence Bradley Big Old,
very correct, and Harriet of course from the goth Kids.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Right now, it just started. Maybe we can make it
in time. Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
So now at the school, I can't believe they use
the school shooting though, as a way to get sharing
down to the school. That's that's really messed up. And yeah,
to use that as a reason, Poor Tolkien. That's right, Revam,
poor Tolkien. So now, Linda Harriet, I'm sorry, Linda's missus.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Biggle why you just you should go?
Speaker 1 (26:37):
So Sharon walks in and she sees all these rose
petals and the rest of the town are all The
parents come in as Randy starts to sing, going on.
Speaker 10 (26:55):
Where do I begin? All the story.
Speaker 15 (27:01):
Can be a Surprise Sharon three love story that is
older than Surprise Sharon.
Speaker 10 (27:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
So Cartman now confronts Tolkien in the school bathroom. He
threatens Tolkien that he will tell his parents about Black
Panther if he does not let him cheat. Tolkien s
fears he does not care about Black Panther, leading Cartman
to believe he did see it and he did not
like it. Tolkien then tells him that they both may
fail the test because the exam is about to start.
The two run out to find another school shooting happening,
(27:35):
and Cartman asks Butters to protect him, and the three
run through the school to the main hall, where Randy
is still singing an into the classroom. After the shooting,
the parents are all outside. A doctor confronts Randy, saying
he did what he could to stop sharing from overreacting.
Sharon discovers people think she has menopause and explains that
she had she had her period this morning. She is
not on a menopause. Randy then suggests that she may
(27:57):
have been a bit mood the last few days and
she is a and she emotionally flips out. Randy then
suggests that I'm sorry she's Randy suggest she is so
upset that she is not that it's not a big
deal anymore, and she says she wants to make people sad.
The parents all walk off annoyed and her negativity. I'm sorry,
(28:18):
Sharon is upset that this is not a big deal anymore,
that all the school school shooting, they're not a big deal.
I apologize. In the classroom, Miss Nielsen gives out the test.
Cartman tries to copy Tolkien's answers, and Tolkien reluctantly allows
him to, so Cartman then starts thinking that he was
doing this as a cover up, throws his paper away,
believing he will fail for the greater good, and then
finally in the marsh guard and Sharon comes to speak
(28:39):
to Randy. She apologizes for how she's been acting and
giving up, saying it was because of her period. She
then has a call informing her that Stan has been shot.
She is shocked at first, but then decides it's not
a big deal to the glee of Randy. Oh my gosh,
And that's how that episode ends. So let's watch some
clips here on another edition of SMB as we finish
up with like the last six seven minutes of the episode.
Speaker 6 (29:02):
Oh hey man, the big math craze is about to start.
You're gonna let me cheat off you? Nope, you saw
Black Panther without your parents' permission. I typed up all
my findings token. I made ten copies and put them
in envelopes. If I don't pass this math crazy envelopes
are all set to be sent to ten different news organizations.
You did all that instead of actually studying for the test,
So what's it gonna be.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
You can be mad.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
I didn't like Black Panther, but you can't take it
out on me anymore.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
I didn't see black Panther.
Speaker 6 (29:29):
Then, I guess your parents won't be mad when they read.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
My report.
Speaker 16 (29:34):
In Poker.
Speaker 6 (29:34):
They call it a bluff. I know right now tokens
shitting his pants. All I need to do now is wait.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
For the poop to stink.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
All right again once again, South Park Elementary. Randy's still
singing Dorrisse.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Sing Token. We are running out of time. If you
don't let me cheat off, I'm gonna tell your parents
that you saw black Panther in the theater without them.
I didn't see black Panther in the theater. Of course
you did, Token. That's why me ribbing on it pitched.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
You off so much.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
I swear on my mother's life, I don't care what
you said about black Panther. Goodbye, But Token, I don't understand.
If you didn't see it, and you really don't care
that I ripped on black Panther, then why would you
let me cheat? Oh my god, you don't care what
I said because you did see it and you didn't
(30:30):
like it either. That's what this is all about, isn't it.
You hate yourself for seeing through the mirage like I did,
and that's why you wouldn't let me cheat off you? Well,
I didn't write black Panther token. It isn't my thought.
It stuck. Why go after me? But now it's over.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Don't worry.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
They're not gonna know you didn't like black Panther, so
long as you never make me fail another math test. Well,
we're probably both gonna fail now because fourth period already started.
What No, we have to take that tax look it,
Come on, we can still get the class on time.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
And now Cartman finds Butters to help him.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
Oh wait, come on, we can do it.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
Give me that back, Butters. What's the entire crease? What
this text?
Speaker 6 (31:22):
But I have to make a class come that way Saturday?
Speaker 8 (31:25):
Well, Cliff nextquise, it's a I can't count in that quick,
Butter discover that?
Speaker 17 (31:30):
Okay, Butters, brandybody and they make it.
Speaker 9 (31:53):
You did everything you could, mister marsh If your wife
can't realize the truth and appreciate you, maybe she.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
Never realize what what have you been telling everybody?
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Randy?
Speaker 9 (32:04):
Randy was just trying to make you feel loved while
you're going through menopause.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
Menopause. I'm not going through fucking menopause. How do you know,
I just got my period this morning.
Speaker 10 (32:19):
You you got your period? Yes, you just got your
period this morning.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yes.
Speaker 10 (32:27):
So the past few days, maybe you have been.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Just a no, no, nothing. Don't you guys see what's happened?
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Right?
Speaker 5 (32:36):
I want you to be angry.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Every day we hear about another school shooting.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Right, it used to be a big deal.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
I wanted to be a big deal again.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
I mean, Harriet, you came to my house and said
there was a school shooting to trick me into.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
Going with you.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
I was just trying to be a part of the
big surprise, Sharon, that's what kidding back.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
It's crazy, Harriet. I want you all to be shocked.
I want you all to be sad.
Speaker 10 (33:09):
You want everyone to be sad.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
Well, Sharon, if you wanted to make me sad.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
Congratulations, you did a great job.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
You did a great job.
Speaker 10 (33:18):
Yeah, let's go somewhere without so much negativity. Oh, guys,
that shouldn't mean it. She just couldn't give her a.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Even the helicopter flies away.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Right, oh, Sharon for for Sharon? All right? So now
during the math test, Tolkien does let Cartman cheat off
of him?
Speaker 6 (33:48):
Cartman, everybody has dirty Naundrey all it takes to find
it's getting little dirty yourself. The only question there is
how many other tokens are out there? How many others
are afraid to say that Black Panther wasn't all that sweet?
Because amag you can do to them?
Speaker 16 (34:01):
What do you mean?
Speaker 6 (34:02):
I mean? And talking to himself, I'll take it is
doing by letting you cheat up, and is keeping the
whole thing quiet, even numb. There are others out there,
and even if it means failing, I'm not only going.
Speaker 10 (34:19):
All right.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
And this is how we wrap up the episode. Now,
Randy is sitting as I mentioned, Randy's sitting outside and uh,
they're in the garden. Sharon comes to speak to him,
and she apologizes for how she's been acting and giving up,
saying it was because of her period.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Randy, we need.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
To talk, sure, honey.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
There's been too much pain and suffering and it has
to stop.
Speaker 10 (34:47):
I know, sweetheart, I know.
Speaker 12 (34:49):
What I'm trying to say is I've been very emotional lately,
and maybe maybe I do overreact sometimes. Really, maybe I
need to realize that my emotions.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
Can be hormonal and not just take things out on you.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Oh, oh, Randy, I'm sorry.
Speaker 13 (35:17):
Oh, Oh, thank you, Sharon.
Speaker 9 (35:22):
I don't know what it's like to have periods, but
I'll try to be more understanding from now on.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Nashang gets a phone call.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Sorry one second, Hello, Yes, what when? Oh my god? Yes? Yes, yes, okay.
Speaker 6 (35:39):
Okay, what is it? There's been another school shooting.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
Stand's been shot?
Speaker 10 (35:49):
Should we get down there?
Speaker 5 (35:52):
It's not the end of the world.
Speaker 10 (35:55):
Whah, I love you, Sharon.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Stupid And that's how the episode comes to a conclusion here.
And then, of course, during the whole season of this
the whole thing of season twenty two was they were
using this hashtag hashtag cancel south Park. So that was
the spiel for this season itself, as they were trying
(36:23):
to quote unquote cancel themselves. Well, that's it for this
side of the episode. We gave you your full recap here.

He is the twenty twenty two Red Rocks Day one
South Park twenty fifth Anniversary Champion. He is affectionately known
(37:45):
on this podcast as a trivia.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
God.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Vernolo Joe take it away with
some trivia.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
This episode very obviously lampoons the public hysteria versus public
indifference conflict around school shootings. Kenny and Kyle do not
have large speaking roles in this episode, Kyle only has
two lines, Kenny has none. And this is also an
(38:19):
episode where Kenny doesn't die. It seems that Dave over
the last few years, but more than that, by the
point we're at season twenty two, like anything with like
a mass hysteria that you would expect Kenny to die at,
(38:40):
they don't kill Kenny. That's almost become the new joke
is that he doesn't die. It is revealed for the
first time that the school has two one hundred students.
During the credits, the hashtag canceled south Park is prominently
(39:01):
seen in the background. This was used as a advertising
campaign throughout the whole season, and it would be a
continuous running gag. Matt and Trey basically did this as
a fuck you to cancel culture, you know, because if
he hashtag cancel south Park, they think you're just talking
about the ad campaign now and it goes a little meta.
(39:27):
This is the first time we find out Missus Biggle's
first name, which is Harriet and the winner of an
O May's campaign for autism research. The man's name is Hugh.
Appears in the background of the episode in the school hall.
He has a bald head, you know, bald head with
(39:51):
like the kind of skulp cap going around he's holding.
This isn't his only appearance in the show. He appears
couple of years later as well. But this is very
similar to the situation with that kid Alex who paid
(40:12):
a bunch of money to AIDS Research to be to
be in an episode. And I want to say it
was season seven, I think he was. They're like, who
are you? I'm Alex. You're fucking lame bro.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Alex.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Click, yes, Alex, clear, there we go, and that does
it AfOR the trivia.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
Ladies and gentlemen. That is your trivia and now Joe
ver Nola read us up some pop culture.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
At one point in the episode, Randy is seen drinking
John Adams beer, which is very obviously a parody of
the Sam Adams brand of beer. There are multiple references
to the MCU made throughout the episode. Cartman frequently brings
up the Black Panther obviously Cartman's leather jack and interior
(41:09):
monologue and Unners and the music, while Spike spying excuse
me on Token are all elements from Jessica Jones are
also elements from detective fiction in general. When Cartman is
talking to Cone token on having not seen Black Panther,
(41:32):
He utters, what you're talking about, willis, which is the
catchphrase of Arnold Jackson from Different Strokes, which we know
better as Gary Coleman or some peace pick dog.
Speaker 10 (41:47):
All right?
Speaker 1 (41:48):
As Cartman, Oh.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Oh, I was just give him Gary his respect. As
Cartman is leaving Tolkien, he turns about and does the
seemingly incompetent detective Colombo ploy of innocently asking a gotcha question,
the classic just one more thing that unravels the suspects
out by great great reference there probably flew over a
(42:14):
lot of people's heads, because Colombo, even at that point,
was a forty year old ship. Randy, as we already
pointed out, communicates using pantomime or charades. Twice in this episode,
Cartman mentions being threatened with the band from Fortnite if
he flunk Smath. I cannot believe people have already been
(42:34):
playing that game about eight to ten years now. We
know that we already pointed out that Randy serenade Sharon
with love Story and Andy Williams song from nineteen seventy
and during the final school shooting, what appears to be
a depiction of Chase from Paul Patrol can be seen
(42:59):
on a lunchbox.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
And Ladies and Gentlemen. That is your pop culture. All right,
Let's read up some storyline continuity here. At the dinner table, Randy,
as you mentioned, has John Adams beer and garlic brown
on his plate, even though he went gluten free back
in season eighteen and was drinking gluten free PABs Blue Ribbon.
The Hall of Honor from South Park to Sticker Truth
(43:23):
is shown in this episode. The features previously deceased characters
affiliated with the school. The psychiatrist from TMI reappears. Tolkien
to cole Or mentioned to have gotten back together, referencing
their breakup and skink Hunt, and Carbon asked Nicole why
they broke up. It is an unknown if he knows
if they broke up from gender War from season twenty
or if he was just trying to get answers he
(43:44):
already knew. And that Ladies and Gentlemen is your storyline, Continentity,
Let's talk about what we liked or dislike. Joe, what
did you like or dislike about this episode?
Speaker 2 (43:56):
This is Randy at his Randy, as I've already said, like,
especially when he finds out he's kind of sort of right,
even though Sharon is completely right, but she's you know,
Stan got shot. Maybe I'm overreacting it. Just it. If
(44:20):
it weren't for Randy, this would be a very It
still is kind of a middle of the road episode
to me, but it would be a lot less funny
than it was. Like you needed Randy's ridiculousness to really
carry this episode, in my opinion, because the the B's
(44:42):
story of Tokin not seeing the Black Panther, I guess
just didn't resonate with me enough. It's like, Okay, the
kid didn't see Black Panther. A lot of people didn't
see that movie. Yes it made billions of dollars, but
you know it's like, oh, big deal, he didn't, And
(45:03):
I guess maybe that's the joke, And I just don't
appreciate the not don't appreciate the joke, just don't find
the joke funny that you know that could be it.
You know it's so you know then it's just probably,
but that's probably it. I just don't find the joke funny.
(45:24):
And there's not like a oh I'm offended or anything
behind it. Kind of just the joke missed with me,
so yeah, and then there's the ever present when they're
where they're very clearly talking about, you know, the social
(45:48):
issue that they're trying to tackle with the episode, when
they're like, well, Randy, maybe it's something big or something,
you know, and they're clearly talking about the problem of
gun violence in schools and everything like that, and then
they do that quick little twist like, oh, yeah, it
could be menopause where it's like, you know, we get you,
(46:11):
We get you to think that we're talking about the
social issue and we really are. But now we're going
to make our dick or fart choke here, in this
case menopause choke.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Anything else he liked or disliked Joe in the.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
How does can he not die? And I get that
that's their thing now, because like when they had the
texting and driving, he didn't die there or they didn't
show his debts. He does wind up on the montage.
But you know, it's like it may have been a
(46:55):
funnier episode, It may have been able to carry a
bit more if Kenny were to be shut up.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, it would have made a little sense for sure.
I agree with what you were saying. I mean, I
think What I like about this episode, of course, is
that you mentioned the absurdity of Randy thinking that Sharon's
going through MENOPAUSEM and really she's just having what any
normal parent as far as reaction, would be if there
was all these school shootings going on at the local school.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Yeah, and Sharon is totally.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Just exactly, she's totally one hundred percent justified, But everybody
else seems to be normalized by at this point that
there's all these school shootings happening and there's nothing they
can do to stop it. It's very complicated issue. It
is a very complicated issue, but it's also not a
complicated issue in the fact that you know, you could
actually show some remorse and decide how can we try
(47:53):
and find a solution to prevent all these school shootings
from happening because it starts off at the home, or
it starts off in the kids' lives, right, I mean,
there's something that pushes that child to want to bring
a gun to school, So there needs to be a
better discussion on how they can prevent it versus normalizing
and just trying to move on with their lives. So
(48:13):
I liked the social commentary on that I liked Cartman
here is ridiculous over the top nature thinking that Tolkien
has seen Black Panther at first, or he hasn't seen it,
or he has seen it, and then because Cartman didn't
like it, that's why Tolkien didn't let him cheat off
the test. And then it just come to find out
that Tolkien itself has not even seen Black Panther, but
(48:36):
Cartman thinks he's still lying and thinks it's because he
didn't like Black Panther himself. I liked that ridiculousness that
Cartman is so caught up in his own mental gymnastics
that he's making up excuses for why Tolkien wouldn't want
to let him cheat, when the reality of the situation
is Tolkien just probably didn't want to let Carbon cheat
off him because he was tired of him cheating off of.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
Him, right exactly. And you know that that does kind
of make the you bringing that up does kind of
make the Bees story a little stronger and my mind,
because it shows the links Cartman goes to to, like
(49:19):
he works so hard at not working right or it
not having to work rather, and that that's a very
classic Cartman thing.
Speaker 1 (49:32):
Very classic Carmen deed thing hts up. Well, I don't
have anything else, Joe, unless you've got anything else for
this episode? All right, well, ladies, all right, well, ladies
and gentlemen, that's.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
Gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
