Speaker 2 (00:02):
Ready, ready.

it's your host, kristen.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
And Brittany, Get ready for the best part of your
day.
And we have our favorite friend, Gina on today with us to talk
about a very special topic, andthat is Taylor Swift's podcast
appearance.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yep, this episode we're going to be talking all
about the New Heights pod.
Taylor was on New Heights onWednesday the 13th.
She announced her new album, the Life of a Showgirl, and
we're going to break down thewhole episode for you.
So we obviously needed ourthird snitch here.
Gina to give her expert opinion.
G are you ready?
I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
It was a lot of information to process in two
hours.
It really was.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
I literally like I feel like well, I actually still
haven't been on Instagram.
I like can't go on Instagram,it's like just too much.
Like I feel like like whatpeople?
What like a normal?
person sees on their Instagramlike of Taylor.
That's like what I see in mybrain.
So then when it's likemagnified like that on Instagram

(01:07):
, it's just like whoa, and Idon't know.
I just yeah, I feel like you.
It's so crazy how, like youjust see how the media like
takes little headlines like oh,like Travis Kelsey likes
Taylor's sourdough bread, andit's like I don't know, I just
feel like I wanted.
I wanted, like my my own, toform my own thoughts before I

(01:28):
went to the masses.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I hear that there's.
It's funny I haven't reallybeen doing a lot of um sleuthing
online either because I meanshe gave us so much in those two
hours that right, that's plentyum.
But I did notice, I did seeonline like something about
Jason's reaction to Taylordescribing Travis as a human
exclamation point and I I didkind of have like a oh wow,
Because that was my livereaction when I was watching it.

(01:52):
I I noticed that I put on mynotes app I was writing notes as
I was watching.
I was like, oh, Jason reallyseems touched by that comment.
It must've been like superaccurate because he definitely
like kind of get, has like aphysical, has a facial reaction
to that comment, which I loved.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah, that's like I texted you guys.
My face hurt from smiling somuch.
It's like when you're at awedding.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, that's so true, so true.
I know I wrote down like oh,wow, I feel like I'm watching my
friend just be so happy and inlove.
Because you never this is sonew for her.
She's never done an interviewwith a significant other and
she's never done like a two hourlong form interview before that
.
I can remember Never, never.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
This is by far the most she's ever given us.
It won't 100% by far.
Like my jaw was dropping whenhe was asking about like I don't
know, just like the behind thescenes stuff of the tour and
like what she was doing whilethe tour was going on the Easter
eggs, I was just like, oh myGod, I cannot believe she's
talking about this.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Totally Well, let's get into each part of the
interview.
So one of like the early onsegments or that they talk about
is when she got her master'sback.
I loved hearing about that.
What did you guys think I didtoo.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
I loved hearing about that.
What did you guys think I didtoo?
I loved hearing about that too.
I feel like it was soheartwarming to see like how
much she cares and I feel likeit meant a lot that like she
didn't like really break down orlike cry much in the interview.
There was like a few times, maybe, when she was like talking
about her parents getting sick, but I feel like the only time
she like did, or the time shedid the most, was like talking
about her master's.

(03:25):
So I was just very happy forher and it was like cool to
learn about like the musicindustry and I liked how she
said like her her priority as anartist has been to own her own
music since day one, um, andshe's really followed through
with that.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
So props, taylor and it's crazy to me she thought
when she was re-recording thather fans wouldn't listen.
Oh my God, I know To there-records that like people told
her like, oh, this isn't goingto work, this isn't like good
for you, like are you kidding?
Yeah, totally.
And like Jason said, put out athird 1989 and he'll listen to

(04:00):
it.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah, I mean she could put out anything.
I would listen to it.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
yeah, I mean she could put on anything I would
listen to it, but yep, yeah, no,we were definitely there for
those albums.
I um thought it was reallysweet and when you said she got
emotional, she got emotional, specifically the part when she
talked about sending her mom andher brother austin, into the
final negotiation, which wasshamrock capital, which was the
private equity firm that had theout the album rights.
Genius, when she said I'm in thebusiness of human emotion, I

(04:30):
loved that she sent them in andhonestly, shout out to Austin
and Andrea but shout out, I wasso happy for her brother.
For some reason that was mymain feeling, that I was feeling
I was like damn, I'm so happythat Austin is getting some
flowers, because I think itwould be great, but it would be
hard to be Taylor Swift'sbrother.
Your whole identity is herbrother, so it's, you know, it's

(04:50):
tied to her and I'm just likehappy that you could kind of see
that he did something like soimpactful for her career.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yeah, yeah, I feel like he, and like all her family
, does a lot more like businesswork than we probably realize
Totally.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I thought that was a really sweet piece of it that I
definitely like, that that stuckwith me.
I also thought it wasinteresting when she was talking
about the difference, thedifference between I might get
this wrong like the publishingand then like the distribution,
like how she said that she hadthe publishing rights always so
she could decide what's going tobe put in a soundtrack or if

(05:27):
something's going to be used foran ad.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
That's why she could rerecord because she had the
publishing rights.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah, I never realized that yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I think this is probably the first time
something like this has reallybeen done.
So I mean, why would you know?
And I thought that what shesaid about two other artists,
then saying like because of thiswhole you know headline and
what you're doing, I've nownegotiated that as a part of my
contract.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah, I know.
Well, that's what I feel likeI've heard.
I mean, I've been hearing thatfor years now, but it sounds
like she has definitely likeyeah, inspired a lot of artists
like make a change in theindustry.
And the timing I mean it's agood timing because the world is
different now you don't need alabel to put out music, so
artists have more power.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
Do you think she'd open her own label?
I could see that one day.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
I feel like it would be a lot of work.
I feel like she would yeah, ifshe wanted to, but it'd be a lot
of work.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
I also really liked the piece about when Jason was
asking her her favorite torerecord.
I feel like her fans kind ofknew this, but I liked hearing
her say it.
How she said, and it'sinteresting that she called out
Fearless in 1989.
Did you?

Speaker 1 (06:34):
guys pick up on that.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
She said I have a very pure love for those two
albums, which makes me thinkthat in some ways those might be
her favorite albums.
But then she said it's notalways been that way with Red.
So backstory I'm sure all theSwifties who are listening to
this know this but like shedidn't win the Grammy for Red
and she got feedback that it wasbecause there it wasn't a
cohesive album, it was like halfcountry, half pop, and I think

(06:56):
that really stuck with her.
So she said that when she gotto rerecord Red specifically
like the all too well 10 minute, and really helped her fall in
love with that album again, um,and not have any type of
insecurity.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
and that was an interesting, like little tidbit
too yeah, I loved how she talkedabout all too well 10 and like
what she was thinking like whileperforming it.
You know, like she was like I'mseeing all these fans like
cathartically screaming thissong and like I'm like what if I
never put this full version out?
Like, you know, all thesepeople wouldn't know this and um

(07:27):
, yeah, I just think it's likecool to know, like to hear what
was going on in her head onstage and, like you said when we
did the draft like I bet allthe other swifties too nobody
listens to the regular version.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
We all have always wanted the 10 minute one and
that's what everyone listens to.
Yeah, that's what you'rescreaming in the car it's.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, I don't listen to the short one anymore, so
true um yeah, I mean it.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
I definitely got the sense.
I feel, like in general, likewhen she was talking about, like
, um, her experience during theeras tour, like she was
definitely paying attention andI feel like she was like feeling
what we were feeling, you knowtotally um, I, speaking of eras,
like she also kind of went intojust talking like about eras,

(08:15):
and it was interesting what shesaid about trying to make her
show like an algorithm.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Didn't you love that?
Oh?
Yes yes, yeah, saying somethingnew like every 10 seconds.
I had never thought about that.
But then she said how some ofher fans almost had like an
amnesia when they went to theshow and she's like, well, this
is accomplished the goal becauseit is so fast moving yeah, I
did the first time I saw it justthe beginning first.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, I thought girl, summer was first oh right, oh
right, that's hilarious.
Yeah, I really did black outthe big, like the first five
minutes.
But yeah, what?
Sorry?
What were you saying about that?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
just how, like um, she wanted it to be.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
A lot of newness, always new things all the time,
oh yeah genius, yeah, genius, um, but yeah, I never thought that
until she said it, which I feellike she's just thinking next
level yeah totally like that.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
She said she was like a hundred percent present for
this tour and not alwaysthinking of the next thing yeah,
yeah, totally.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
And I mean this also wasn't a surprise when she
talked about some of herfavorite moments being like the
fan moments, like the willowpiece.
I loved that part, yeah, putting the orbs together, and
it is a good point.
When she's like, how did youlike, is there a group text,
like how are you doing this?
And I was, I kind of had thesame thought.
I was like I don't even reallyknow.
I guess there must be forumsthat are online that they're

(09:38):
like we're going to do this.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
But I feel like at the stadium, though, people
would have had to do stuff togive everyone the balloons.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Yeah, right, yeah, that's a good point.
Maybe people just balloons.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Maybe we should do that next tour.
Definitely We'll get noticed.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
And then she also said how Travis's appearance on
tour was one of the loudestscreams which you know.
Sometimes I'm like she's justsaying that she knows what she's
doing, but I believe thatTravis's appearance might have
been for sure yeah, we wouldhave lost our minds

Speaker 3 (10:12):
yeah, I mean, I also feel like the show, like as it
went on, we like we had thebenefit.
We saw it early on, like evenat gillette, that was like the
beginning, and then we saw likeone of the later ones and I feel
, feel like it it did like thecrowd changed from like the
beginning to the end of the tour.
I liked how she was, like itended up being like Rocky Horror

(10:33):
, where the the audience waslike parroting everything back
and it was like just as much ofa thing.
So I thought that was cool andI, yeah, I liked how she said
like she loved seeing like thedifferent generations of
Swifties like engaging and stuff, and I feel like that totally
resonated with me because that'stotally how I felt at the
concert and it's like you can'teven describe it unless you go

(10:55):
there, but like it's verytouching and very moving and I
could just tell, like on the bythe look on her face, that she
was like so happy and like soappreciative of that.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Agree, I agree, yeah, it was.
I mean, I loved hearing hertalk about the tour.
Like that was that was great.
The only the only part that Ihonestly didn't love of the
interview um, I didn't reallylove hearing her talk about the
nfl.
That might be a hot take for me.
I I had the feeling when I firstwatched it.
I appreciate that she's like afan now, but I didn't love like

(11:31):
her being like I don't careabout sports, like I don't care
if I'm good at it, like I get it, I get it.
But I was almost kind of likeokay, taylor, whatever.
And then when she was liketalking about her running around
after seeing that Xavier Worthywas drafted, I was also.
It's just, I'm sorry, like Ilove her, I stand her, but it
was a little cringe to me.
Yeah, that didn't bother me, itannoyed me a little bit and I

(11:52):
was like, just because I alsounderstand like for the fans who
have been fans for, so it'slike the Swifties with us is I
could see some NFL fans beinglike okay, like okay, yeah, just
oh, I get what you're sayinghow we feel like some of the
younger Swifties who, like, juststarted listening to her right,

(12:14):
who re-records, and we're like, and she says like here for 20
years.
It's like someone saying to uslike have you heard of like new
romantics?
We'd be like, yes, we have.
So I just feel like that alittle bit as like a fan of the
NFL as well.
I could see how some of hernon-fans probably were like tone
it down a little, and Iunderstand that feeling.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
That's all I'm gonna say, yeah okay, yeah, I, I felt
like she was talking about itmore in the sense of like how,
like the start of theirrelationship, and like I feel
like that was a big part of itwas like learning about it and
like going to the games andstuff and like meeting the team.
So but I guess I see your pointyeah, that's just how I felt.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
I I don't.
I do think it was cute, though, how like Travis kept pumping
her up when he was talking about, like, her athleticism Cause
obviously she has to be, she'san athlete, she has to do that
to do the tour but just evenlike how he was pumping her up
about how much she wanted tolearn about the game.
And at one point, when Jasonwas like, should I leave?
Um, and at one point when Jasonwas like should I leave, I was

(13:11):
like that's hilarious, cause itwas so sibling you know, and I
actually had the same thoughttoo.
I was like Jason's probablylike what the fuck?

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah, I.
I feel like I also totallyunderstood what she meant,
though, and she they were likeno, you're an athlete, and she's
like.
She's like no, I'm not, like, Idon't care, it's not like I'm
I'm saying it in aself-deprecating way like I'm
just like I'm not an athlete andI don't care that I'm not,
because that's how I feel.
Yeah, yeah, um, but yeah, like.

(13:38):
What did you guys think abouttheir like interaction and stuff
?
I loved it they are like, so inlove so, and it's so cute
seeing so natural.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah, just like holding her hand and like I feel
like she kept to like talkingto him, like turning to tell,
like him an answer to thequestion, just like I thought
they were adorable, because wealso have never really seen that
I know, her.
What six years with joe yeahI've never seen her so like

(14:10):
outwardly happy in arelationship.
She's never let us in this muchnever, never.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
It's mind-blowing yeah, they seem.
They seem really happy, likethat was.
The big thing I kept noticingis like how much he was just
pumping her up and it was funnyand cute how she kept doing the
like you're just saying words.
Or she would say like you're sohandsome, you know teasing,
when he would not know a wordthat she's saying.
Um, or like says my boyfriendsays my boyfriend Totally.

(14:38):
Yeah, Really cute.
She clearly wanted us to know.
Also, she brought it up acouple of times that she like
plays with his nieces.
She talked about like how youknow she knows that they're
getting a cat on a very goodsource.
Obviously it's like she's intouch with Kylie.
She talked about how theirdaughter, Bennett, like loves
finding Benjamin their cat.
So that was sweet, Like it's.

(15:00):
You can tell that they're veryfamily oriented and it seems
like she's definitely integratedherself with them.
I thought that was.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah, I feel like that sounded really like genuine
too.
It wasn't like she was tryingto be like oh, I'm so close with
the whole family, I hang outwith the kids.
I feel like that was just anatural thing in the
conversation.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah, no, I don't think she was.
I mean, she's so smart that weknow she wanted us to know that,
I think, because I do thinkthere was some press about her
and Kylie.
I mean, it's Taylor's oldesttime.
They want to pit two womenagainst each other, and I don't
know if you guys saw thoseheadlines, but I definitely did
so.
I think the fact that she waslike nope, like we're good, I

(15:40):
think she wanted that to beknown, but it was very genuine.
I don't.
I agree, and I loved how shewas saying how, with Travis,
like another green flag for himis that he's had the same
friends forever.
I totally respect.
Totally agree, totally agree, totally agree, and what Travis

(16:01):
said about being able to seewhat's going on in his suite now
during the games.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Yeah, I never thought of that, never thought of that
Never thought what a gift Iwould.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
I would love that if I were him.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
I know I wanted to go back to panning now to that
suite.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
They're gonna show no one else but I, that was like a
really I yeah, that was anotherone I was like, huh, I never
thought about that, but I would.
That's totally makes sense.
I know I'm just kind of likeI'm literally reading through my
notes app so I feel like I'mgoing a mile a minute, so you
guys jump in here.
But I feel like when Kylie, when she told the story, I was
laughing out loud because I loveKylie and I love her.

(16:39):
I don't listen to her podcast, but I follow her on social and I
love the clips that she posts, like she's, she's such a real
one and I love when Taylor waslike the first time I met you,
jason, it was at that Bills gamewhere he jumped through the
window to get to him yeah.
The shirt was off and she's likeI come into the suite and I
hear you talking to Kylie andyou tell her what you want to do

(17:02):
, that you want to go throughthe wall, and Kylie just looks
at you and goes, okay, can wenot do that right now?
I'd rather not can we not dothat right now?
And she's like, not, she's like.
I've since heard her use thatsame line on your children More
than once.
It was so funny.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
And she must've been nervous to like meet Taylor.
I'm so down to earth and likebut I mean, that must be
overwhelming.
Yeah, like Taylor walks up andis like hi, I'm taylor swift.
Like yeah, nice to meet you.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
I yeah, but the thing is I feel like why kelsey has I
mean kylie has so many likeshe's gotten so popular so fast
is because she wore literally abaggy cincinnati the university
of cincinnati shirt to meetTaylor.
Like didn't try at all, hairwas not done Like wow, have you
seen the?

Speaker 3 (17:55):
photos.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
No, she cause she'll never wear.
She said she'll never wearanother team's Jersey, not even
Travis's.
She'll only wear Eagles.
So she wore.
Chiefs red, so she wears.
So she wore a red University ofCincinnati shirt but it was
like very oversized.
Her hair was in a ponytail.
I think she had like sweatpantson, like she.

(18:17):
Oh, that's funny.
Yeah, she didn't.
She really leaned into theshirt.
I feel like Taylor would likethat though.
I think Taylor would ratherthat.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah, I felt like Taylor you can tell that Taylor
loves being like a part of theirlittle family too.
Like I was thinking likeremember when, like Jeff Bezos's
wedding was like this like 50million dollar wedding in like
Italy or some shit, and she wasat like the tight end university
.
I was like, she definitely lovedthat she was probably like so

(18:45):
much happier to be at the tightend university than like Jeff
Bezos's wedding in Italy, forsure, totally.
And speaking of like the two ofthem together, I feel like when
it first came on they were likeholding hands.
I was like, oh, I don't know,it's gonna be weird, but like
they just seemed so natural thatlike it wasn't weird at all.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Yeah, um, totally, I feel like I've never seen her,
so like natural and like relaxedand stuff, and we've been
following her for a while.
I feel like we should uh, weshould disclaimer that that we
have probably watched everysingle interview or read every
single interview and video andeverything, so like we basically
know her and she's consistent.

(19:26):
Oh, definitely, I liked how shewas talking a lot about like,
like she said, like her job isto like make her fans happy and
like make music yeah, I likedwhen she said that their jobs
are like the same to entertainpeople in stadiums for three
plus hours yeah it's prettyfunny, I know comparing like the
field to the stage and likeright right all of that I like

(19:49):
loved.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
I had never really thought of that, but it's so
true.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
They did the same thing just in different yeah
arenas yeah, I liked when shetalked about going on the the
field too.
Oh yeah, I can't believe likethey didn't plan that, like I in
my mind, like everything fortaylor has to be like such a
production because like sheneeds like bodyguards and shit I
had that exact same thought.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
That was like the first.
I was like she didn't know.
She must have been freaking out.
I mean, she is very planned, like she doesn't normally, I
feel like, do things withouttalking to her security,
especially in that type ofenvironment.
I was shocked that thathappened.
When she said that that was notplanned, yeah, she also said
she walked through the stadium, like like just through the front
door.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Yeah, mind blown and nobody noticed.
That's crazy, insane.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
I mean, I believe that, though If she had like a
disguise, I don't think itdidn't even seem like she had a
disguise, though she was justlike crowded in she had a hat on
right.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
She said she had a hat on, she was wearing a mask
and she was surrounded by hisfriends who were all really big,
you know, just large dudes, sono one noticed.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Wow, and I love that all of his friends like
protected her.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Yeah, oh yeah.
So many friends.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
I love it.
I mean, he's around men thoughall the time, like he's been
surrounded by teammates hiswhole life, who knows?

Speaker 3 (21:12):
I like like, yeah, he's been surrounded by
teammates his whole life.
I who knows like.
I like, though, how she saidlike, when she was talking about
she was like yeah, everyone wastelling me to like date travis,
like he's this awesome guy, like going to bat for him, and
she was like that, like doesn'thappen.
Like no one's ever said that tome about any other guy, you
know so he seems like very wellloved did you have the feeling
when you were watching there?

Speaker 2 (21:29):
there was moments where I was just like I I hate
doing this, cause I don't.
I appreciated what she saidabout the Easter egg piece, like
if you want to, if you know, you know, you know.
And if you want to sleuth, likeI will feed you, but if you
don't want to know, that's finetoo.
I'm someone who doesn't want tosearch for the clues, but I

(21:49):
found myself listening to itbeing like Hmm, she mentioned an
eighties John Hughes movie.
That's how she felt with Traviscourting her.
I'm like is there something todo?

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Is she going to?

Speaker 2 (21:58):
reference an eighties John, eighties John Hughes
movie.
And then she's like she saidsomething like oh you know,
travis wanted to just walk in.
He thought he knew the elevatorguard so he could just get into
her suite.
And she's like it's not 1973.
Like those type of referenceswhere I'm like that's a very
specific date.
I feel like my brain isslightly trained to be like

(22:19):
she's giving us a clue, but Ikind of hate that too.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Yeah, yeah.
Do you have that thought at all?
Listening to it, like some ofthose specific numbers.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
A little bit, I don't know.
I feel like, like the eastereggs for sure, and like I
definitely will, like you know, keep an eye on them and I think
they're fun, but I feel like Idon't let myself get like too
wrapped up in it because, likeyou really can't predict it.
No, like no one ever would likeeven the orange door thing.
It's like, now that thisannouncement is out, it makes
sense, but like before that, like no one would have ever
known.
Yeah, and like I actually did,I went back and read her speech

(22:58):
for NYU.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Oh, I was curious about that.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
Yeah, I was like, oh my God, I have to investigate
this.
And I mean it definitely did.
It was very you're on your ownkid.
Oh, okay, there was a lot oflike that in it.
There was like something aboutlike 1950s housewives, like
comparing her to that.
So I was like, oh wow, but likeat that time you never would
have known that.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
No, no, I mean, I think, the fact that she even
referenced that NYU.
But that's what I'm saying.
Like even you saying that, likeoh, the NYU speech we don't
know until after the fact.
I that like oh, the NYU speech,we don't know until after the
fact.
I'm like she definitely plantedsome stuff in this podcast that
we're gonna find out about oncethe album comes out.
Like I just I don't know.
But yeah, I get what you'resaying.
You can't get too hyped up onit because you can never predict

(23:40):
.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
But like that is where my mind goes yeah, yeah,
no, I feel that I like theeaster eggs um, I think they're
fun to find out about after thefact yeah, did you?
you guys feel like you got thesense that she was trying to
tell people like, slow down alittle bit with the Easter eggs.
I felt like she was like.
She said they aren't ever abouther personal life and maybe,

(24:03):
like this is just me, like thisis part of the reason I haven't
been on Instagram.
I just feel like people go waytoo far on instagram.
Like they're like, oh, she'sreleasing tortured poets on the
day that the us became free fromthe king and it was the actual
day they won the war.
And like, and she's coming outwith a torture post on that day

(24:24):
because, like joe's british,it's like.
That's just too far, dude.
Like it's not, like's not likethat.
You're missing the mark.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
I did have the thought.
Do you think that Joe listenedto this?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Probably.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, I think he can avoid the headlines.
But if you're seeing yourex-girlfriend of six years with
her new boyfriend on a two-hourinterview, like I mean, I think
most people would watch.
But I thought that I was like Iwonder if Joe's tuning in here.
Most people would watch, but Ithought that I was like I wonder
if Joe's tuning in here and Iwonder if Taylor thought that at
all.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah, good question.
I don't know.
I feel like she didn't.
I don't know, I wonder what ofher ex-boyfriends?

Speaker 1 (25:00):
What Listen to it.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Oh like.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Harry did.
Oh yeah, I bet Harry didn't.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
I was just going to say I.
I was just going to say I feellike Harry didn't, but let's
talk about her new album.
The last 30 minutes it was allabout talking about the music
and I think this was one of myfavorite parts of the whole
interview.
I loved hearing her talk aboutthe life of the show girl.
I saw Dave Portnoy put hisreaction video out and I feel

(25:28):
very similar to him.
He was like I think this mightbe my favorite, like the best
album she's ever done.
Like I she's.
He's like I don't want to callit too early, but she's calling
it too early.
She said multiple times like Iknow the pressure by saying that
this album is like a perfectpuzzle piece, with every single
song having a hundred reasons tobe on it.
And I know that's.
You know hyping it up, but likeI'm ready to hype it up.

(25:49):
And I was like damn yeah, it'slike already iconic, yeah, and
like if it is just the popbangers that she's saying it is,
I'm fine with that.
Oh my God, I can't wait for thatLike I'm ready for a pure pop
banger album.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Yes, same yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
I liked how she talked yeah, I mean, there's one
person I would believe and it'sher like she just can do things
that other people can't do.
Oh yeah, I liked when she wastalking to about like torture
poets and how that was like justlike word vomit, like she like
couldn't keep it in, because Ifeel like that's kind of the

(26:30):
sense I get from torture poetsand it's like you know 31 songs
like.
But I liked how she talkedabout how, like with this one it
took a lot more like disciplineand like being, you know, like
making harder decisions and likethis one's not up to snuff or
whatever.
I thought that was cool.
I also liked how she said thatlike I don't know, it made me

(26:51):
feel like she was like I went toMax Martin and shell back and
was like I need to make an albumthat is like just as good as
the heiress tour you know I meanor like, on that level, holy
pressure first of all, um, butsecond of all, I feel like it's
like she's doing this for herfans, like she doesn't need

(27:11):
money, she doesn't need fame,she doesn't, she doesn't even
need.
Like I feel like after theheiress tour, people view her as
like she's a legitimate artistnow yeah, I think the heiress
tour cemented her legacy, forsure, in a different way.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
It was the biggest tour of all time.
I mean, there's never been atour to even rival it.
But I agree, I think she doesit for her fans.
But I also think she just doesit because, like, she just can't
stop making music, like it'sher calling.
Totally she can't stop.
And I think she does like tonarrow, like she likes to have.
I would, too, if I were her, like I would want to have
control of the narrative of mylife, and I feel like she's

(27:48):
really proud of where she isright now.
So she is letting it be knownthat this album I mean, she's so
smart, right, she knows how toget us.
She's saying that's why thecover art is me at the end of
the day in a bathtub.
Like this isn't about you knowwhat's happening on stage.
This is the life behind thescenes, which is what we want to
see.
And she's saying, like I'venever been this happy, it's
never been this good, it's neverbeen this upbeat, and I feel

(28:11):
like she wants us to know that.
But I would also, if I were her, like I'd be, I'd want to show
that off in a way.
So, um, I love that she saysthat and that she's like so
proud of it and everything.
And I love that she is goingback to max martin.
Um, I mean max martin likebeyond taylor, he has worked, he
did a ton of britney spears.
He's like but I think he's likethe number one producer of pop

(28:35):
music yes, I mean, and I thoughtthat the fact that she called
him her mentor was a big dealyeah, I know I didn't, I didn't
know that.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Um, I also feel like they didn't produce taylor's
version of 1989, which was isweird if that was her mentor,
but yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
I feel like she was like, because she said she wrote it in
, she was doing it like theEuropean leg of the tour, so
that was like last summer.
I feel like that was like whenit was at its peak, yeah, and I

(29:08):
don't know, part of me justfeels like she was so like
inspired and like so overcomewith, like the fans, like
enjoyment and involvement andlike love of the show, like just
you know that, the vibe thatwas in the air there, and I feel
like she's like.
I want to like give back andshow them how meaningful this
was to me.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Yeah, and she had mentioned too how she felt like
she finally made it, and she wasalways like climbing and trying
to achieve something more.
And during the Eros tour shewas like, oh, like, here it is.
I'm a hundred percent here, I'mwatching, like present all my
fans for through all generations, just like love her.
Yeah, it's like a gift backwhat you said.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Yeah, I really do think that here's because she
doesn't really have much else toprove like no, she has nothing
else to prove?

Speaker 2 (29:55):
no, she has nothing to prove, but she is someone who
wants to control how her lifelike she wants control.
Like, yeah, I don't think it'sany like she is someone who
wants to control how her life, like she wants control.
Yeah, I don't think it's anylike she does what she wants.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Oh, you're saying you want.
You think that she's likeputting it out, also partly
because she wants to telleveryone what was going on
rather than people speculate.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Yeah, like I think she's never been happier and she
, I think she wants to tellpeople that I feel like that
sounds like lover.
Well, we'll see when it comesout.
But I, when she's saying like I, this is the best album I've
ever made, Best album I've evermade, and it's she said like two
or three times like it's aboutmy life behind the scenes and

(30:34):
that's what is covering it, Ifeel like she's trying to tell
us, like I just think that she'sproud of where she is in her
life and like I think she'sready to celebrate it yeah, I
think she also wants to giveback to the fans because of how
awesome the heiress tourexperience was for her, because
of the fans yeah, I see that too.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Able to buy back her masters because of it.
She said it in like the podcast.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah like we continued to her absolute
happiness no, I know, I justfeel like there was like
something extra special with theheiress tour and, like she, she
noticed it too yeah, totally.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Um, I love that she wrote, or she listed the track
list.
Um, also, I don't know if yougot this this made me giggle.
I wrote this down.
When she wrote said the wordwould, and Jason just giggled
and said nice.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
I did notice that.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
And Travis said canceled as a banger Also, um,
I've seen this online theOphelia reference.
So she, I don't know.
Hamlet I don't either.
I feel like I need to.
So apparently Ophelia is areference to Hamlet.
They said that in the pod aswell.
So we got to figure this out.
But I did not know.
The Lion King was based off ofHamlet.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Yeah, oh, I actually know what this is because I
listened to that Ringer podcast.
Oh yeah, they talked about it.
It's like, yeah, so it's basedon the Lion King, I forget
exactly, but it's like somethingabout like a girl who has to
like go beg her dad to like bewith this guy that no one wants
her to be with and then like heends up being the reason she
dies, or something which is likevery much fortune poets so, and

(32:11):
it's like after Ophelia, I mean, that's such a Taylor thing to
do.
Yeah, but yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I thought that was very cool.
Me too.
The photos on the albumthemselves, like the photos, are
sick.
I feel like this might be myfavorite album artwork that
she's done really I?

Speaker 3 (32:29):
I, when they first pulled it out, I was like is
that her?
Like?
I was like zooming in on it.
I it didn't look like her atfirst, but you never see it I
like that.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
There's one that she's showing a lot of skin and
I was very surprised.
But I was like you go girl, like do your thing.
I thought it was sick, yeah, umvery vigilante shit and yeah
it's a vibe, yeah, it's gonna beso good.
I'm it now.
I think this will be myfavorite album.
Like I love the Pop Bangers, Ilove 1989.

(33:02):
And if she is out here sayingthat she thinks you know, like
that it's, if she's calling hershot with how good this album is
, like in Taylor, we trust Ithink it's going to be great.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Yeah, In Taylor we trust.
I also loved how like proud ofit Travis was.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
I know you know, like you could genuinely like hear
him be like, oh yeah, that one'sso good, or like I don't know
just like it's going to be thatgood.
I've heard it.
He was like hugging the album.
I was like, oh, that's so sweet, like the way they were looking
at each other both, like it'sjust amazing.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Yeah, I love how she said like I feel like one of my
favorite favorite things shesaid was in the beginning, when
she said I mean, I've beensaying either he's really crazy,
which is a big if, or this hasbeen kind of what I've been
dreaming and writing aboutforever.
That would happen to me.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
And I was like yes, it is.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
That's what we've been saying, like she needs a
guy who's proud of her, whowants to be with her, who's a
fan, who stands her.
And all these guys before, likealmost, were ashamed, like they
had to hide their relationship.
I love that she doesn't have todo that anymore.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
Yeah, yeah, me too.
I also thought it wasinteresting how Travis said that
he he like about the mediaattention.
When they were asking like hewas asking about like all the
media attention and stuff aboutthe media attention, when they
were asking like he was askingabout like all the media
attention and stuff, and he waslike, yeah, it was.
It was a little harder at thebeginning, cause he was like I
didn't want anything to come outand like scare Taylor off
because, like I wanted this towork out and I was like, oh, I
never thought of that.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
I know, I know, yeah, she had some like pretty good
nuggets I posted on my, on ourInsta, but also on my own, like
you think of your time.
What did she say?

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Oh, the energy, your energy is like a, is like a
valuable resource or something.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah, like not everyone can afford it.
Think of your energy as likeyeah not everyone can afford.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
It's expensive yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yeah, I love that because and like you know, when
she said I have 20 million DMS,like I'm not on social in that
way and like you can't get yourvalidation from from being on
social, she she said somethingthat I was like, damn, that's so
true.
Like anything you feed yourbrain, it's going to internalize
.
So, like, especially at herlevel, you have to be really
conscious of like what you'reputting blinders onto, what

(35:16):
you're filtering and likeletting into your life.
So I love that.
She said that it was fun seeingsome of like we all knew she
liked to.
So we all know she liked tobake.
I have a very strong feelingthat the sourdough movement is
going to pop off here in thenext few months.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
The two of you will be making sourdough.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Not me no he can't cook but we're going to.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
We're missing that trend, but I see why that
comment was made.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Yeah, I did it before I started making sourdough.
Totally.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
But were you like, who is this friend of her mom,
tina's, who's teaching her howto bake?
Like I might be the mostjealous of Tina of anyone on
this pod.
Like what the fuck?

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Seriously.
Or she's like yeah, I'm alwaystalking to my friends and
texting my friends like, whatkind of sour bread.
I'm like can I be one of thosefriends?
Yeah, like I'll have yoursourdough.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
You can send it on over here, I'll be your kids'
tester.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
It was actually killing me when she was talking
about the kids meeting the cats.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
I figured, but taylor's just like me.
You gotta meet the right catturning non-people cat people
into cat people every day.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
So, true, I don't know, you've been working on me
and kristin for like 20 years, yeah, but you don't hate them.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
No, I like your kitties, yeah, I don't hate them
, but I don't, I wouldn't say Ilike them, I like lou I liked
booty.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
All right, what's the next question?

Speaker 2 (36:41):
I mean that's all I feel like.
I feel like kind of covered herwhole interview.
I mean it's funny, my old, myold job they had.
It was a company that did a lotof puns and it, ironically, a
lot of bread puns.
So when she started saying, areyou ready for it?
Are you like, um, it's a lovestory, baby, just say I can't

(37:05):
ever yeast or something, I waslike, oh my God, they, everyone
is going crazy right now.
Um, but yeah, and I also thinkI thought that her orange
lipstick looked kind of fire.
I actually really liked that.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yeah, I thought that was cool.
I also am so excited because, like she said, that the so like
the album is like produced by itseems like like the 1989 core.
But, like she said, thereputation the guy who did our
reputation like visuals did thisalbum and I feel like
reputations visuals are the best, yeah, so I'm pumped, yeah, and

(37:40):
she didn't want to show themyet.
So I'm like, wow, this is likea combination of my two favorite
albums Like, and my favoritethings about both albums.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
I know I'm excited Same.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
It's going to be great.
So yeah, I'm excited to hearmore.
Tyler will be having anorange-themed birthday this year
.
Themed birthday this year.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Oh yeah, it's coming on tyler's birthday, um so yeah,
we'll be having an orangethemed party um just listening
to the album?

Speaker 3 (38:10):
yeah, probably, or at least only taylor.
Um, has there been anything onthe internet that you guys have
seen that's been likeinteresting, has there?

Speaker 1 (38:21):
been anything on the internet that you guys have seen
, that's been like interesting, not that I've seen one mention
that in ttbd when they changeher, they change her like into
like a showgirl, you know, inthe part when travel comes out.
So people are mentioning that.
But a lot of the tiktok, because we know I like to scroll
t and see all the theories area little far off, like you were
saying.
Yeah, sometimes it just becomestoo much, so we're not missing

(38:42):
anything.
Or people are like I knew itand it's like no, you didn't.
No, you didn't.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yeah, no, you didn't Imagine.
If you told us a year ago whenwe went to Vienna and it got
canceled, that she was actuallyworking on new music at that
time I know that's a good pointshe probably flew right to
Sweden.
Yeah, she's probably like oh,this actually works out well for
me that these are cancelled.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
Yeah, yeah, three extra days.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Get some rest.
Oh, I have seen rumors abouther performing at the Sphere in
Vegas.
Did you guys see that?
Oh, I saw that.
I feel like that's not gonnahappen.
I would love that.
I would love that.
How would you?

Speaker 1 (39:24):
even get a ticket.
I don't know how are we gonnaget tickets if she tours with
this album.
We are gonna have to haveeveryone in our family, everyone
we know, which is very few, whoare not Swifties like on it for
us.
I know it's just.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Yeah, I believe in us , we'll find a way.
But she should do a residency.
It makes the most sense for her.
Like, honestly, all of the like, moving around I feel like she
would crush it.
But maybe later on in life forher.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Yeah, I feel like she should take a little more time
off, especially because I feellike Travis will retire this
year, so yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
Then, especially because I feel like Travis will
retire this year, so yeah, thenI feel like they'll get married.
I hope so, I think so.
I feel like I think she'll justannounce she's married, like I
don't think we'll know.
Yeah, Agreed.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
I mean, I feel like I don't know anything anymore.
So she's just always keeping uson edge.
I just can't believe, like, like, how forthcoming she was on
the podcast.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
I know, I just can't believe.
I just can't believe thathappened.
Yeah, it was really shocking.
We've never seen something likethis from her and, um, it was
like very satisfying.
It was very satisfying, I think, for all the fans oh,
definitely.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Oh, I did see two fans were like oh, like, why
wouldn't she have gone on like aswifty podcast to like announce
, like, why wouldn't she havegone on like a swifty podcast?
To like announce, like, whywould she go on like new heights
, whatever, and it's like godobviously it's her boyfriend
podcast and, like travis andjason, could not have been like
more excited and happy for herit was adorable, yeah, and we
wanted to see them all likeengage.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Of course, she's more comfortable like that it was a
comfortable, casual conversation.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
It was so like great to yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
And good job to Jason .
I thought he did a good jobwith all the questions and how
he was asking, so so yeah it'sgoing to be awesome.
October 3rd.
Swifties, we're sat, we'reready, we are going to be
listening to those 12 tracks onrepeat and we're excited to talk
about it with all of you.
It's going to be great, yeah, final thoughts, final thoughts
on the interview, and then we'llwrap up.

(41:24):
Um, whoever wants to start?

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Um, I'll start.
I think overall I am just likeI still just can't believe that
happened.
That's all like keeps flashingacross my brain.
Um, I feel like I feel like Iknow her even better than I ever
did before.
No, I feel like I um, I don'tknow, I just appreciated like I
feel like she was so genuine andI feel like she really is like

(41:52):
down to earth and like if youactually hang out with her, like
behind closed doors, she's likea normal person, like she's
funny, um, and I thought I likethought it was very interesting
having her like kind of like apeek behind the curtain.
I loved her talking abouteaster eggs, um, and yeah, I
just feel like I I hadn'tthought as much from her

(42:14):
perspective about like what shewas seeing at the heiress tour
and like the fans and stuff, soit was like nice to hear that it
was like as meaningful to heras it was to me love it.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
What about you?
G?

Speaker 1 (42:27):
I think it solidified what we've always known about
her, how like great she is, howdown to earth she is, how family
oriented she is.
And I think now that she feelslike she made it like with the
heiress tour and is giving usthe gift of this 12-track album,
I think and hopefully we'll getlike more personal stuff from
her.
I think she knows the fans havealways wanted it, but she's

(42:49):
never been with someone whoshe's wanted to share.
Yeah, like this way, yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm hoping on 10-3.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
It is 12 bangers, as travis kept saying, and it is
like 1989 with reputationvisuals.
I hope she goes on the podcastagain.
I do too.
I bet you I wouldn't besurprised?

Speaker 3 (43:10):
no I would neither agreed.

Speaker 2 (43:13):
Yeah, I think the biggest takeaway for me was that
um, yeah, just happy to see herso happy and I'm just so
excited for this album.
Like I, don't know.
I just my favorite part washearing her talk about it.
I just can't wait to listen toit and so far, like the visuals
are sick.
So yeah, I'm just reallyexcited for October.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
She has never hyped up an album like this.
Never, no, never.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
Yeah, totally Well.
Thanks for everyone forlistening in for our new heights
debrief.
Thank you so much, gina, asalways, for how many times have
you been on now?
Four, yeah, four so, and she'llbe on again, definitely in
October, but obviously beforethat For sure.

(43:55):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
Yeah, we're going to have to have like six episodes
about it.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
Yes, so yeah, everyone have a great weekend
and like us on social comment.

Speaker 3 (44:07):

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
