Episode 10 of the Snorts, Slobber & K9 Adventures Podcast and is all about @tonkas_journey a truly adorable and amazing adventure dog.
Tonka had a rough start to life. He was born with bilateral elbow luxation, which means he was unable to use his front legs. He was born to an inexperienced backyard breeder who couldn’t afford to pay for his medical needs. Fortunately, that breeder was compassionate enough to surrender him to a rescue so he could get the care he needed.
After several surgeries and lots of physical therapy, Tonka landed with Naja Mueller and is not only living his best life, he has become an adventure dog extraordinaire. Yes, he still has some mobility issues, but Tonka doesn't let that slow him down. For those who think special needs dogs can’t adventure, well, you haven’t met Tonka. He rides ATVs, he swims, he uses a wagon to explore trails, and he makes everyone who meets him smile.
One of Tonka’s favorite adventure spots is the Pattaconk Reservoir Loop Trail in CT, and Naja gives some great insight into why this is a trail you may want to check out.
Tune in to hear Tonka’s story and prepared to be inspired. And don’t forget to visit k9adventurespodcast.com and our IG feed @k9adventurespodcast for more great content.

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
