As we prepare to enjoy another wonderful story. This time

(00:49):
we have a special rendition of a classic tale that
you might be familiar with, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Our sleepy retelling is a little different from the original,
and I hope you'll enjoy it as it helps you relax.

(01:09):
Evie will be narrating it for us. But before we begin,
let's enjoy a relaxing, deep breath together. Slowly breathe all
the way in, hold it for a moment, and gently

(01:33):
release the breath back out. Nicely done. Now, our story
begins at a quaint little home in the middle of
the woods. The Bear family is just about to wake
up from a good night's rest.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Mama Bear woke up early. She stretched her paws up
over her head, and shifted from side to side. She
let out a nice, big yawn before getting ready to
start her day. It was quiet during the early hours

(02:34):
before the rest of the family was awake. She planned
to make porridge for breakfast, go to the farmer's market,
and spend some quality time with Papa Bear and Baby Bear.
She got out of bed and slid her back paws

(02:55):
into her fuzzy pink slippers. They were soft and warm
and made getting out of her comfy bed just a
little bit easier. She put on a nice, light blue
dress and headed to the kitchen to start making breakfast.

(03:19):
Papa Bear was awoken by the smell of cinnamon and
the sound of the tea kettle whistling. The soft noise
tickled his ears and pulled him out of a deep sleep.
He yawned loudly and rubbed his eyes. Then he climbed

(03:41):
out of bed in search of the delicious smelling porridge.
He put on a red plaid shirt and his favorite
pair of blue jeans and hurried to the kitchen. Baby
Bear likes to sleep in, so Mama Bear knew she

(04:03):
would have to wake him up if he was going
to get any porridge before it went cold. She walked
up the stairs, careful not to step on the third
from the top since it squeaked. She knocked on Baby
Bear's door and peeked her head in. He was sound asleep,

(04:28):
with the blankets pulled up almost all the way to
his chin. Mama Bear stopped for a moment and looked
at her son, her heart swelling. She loved him so much.
Then she walked over and sat on the edge of

(04:51):
Baby Bear's bed and slowly nudged him awake. He stirred
and and stretched his arms above his head, letting out
a big yawn. He blinked and looked up at his mumma.
He stretched again, moving in slow motion. He wasn't ready

(05:17):
to get out of bed, but as soon as Mama
Bear told him there was porridge downstairs, he was wide awake.
He jumped up and ran down the stairs, feeling his
tummy rumbling. He got to the stove and filled his

(05:40):
bowl up to the brim before pouring a river of
maple syrup on top. He knew the porridge would be hot,
so he wanted some milk to wash it down. Baby
Bear set the bowl down on the table and opened
the refrigerator. He looked on the top shelf, the bottom shelf,

(06:07):
and even in the drawers, but there was no milk
to be found. Baby Bear ran back to his mamma,
who had just served herself a nice sized bowl of porridge.
He tugged on the sleeve of her dress, gave her

(06:29):
the sweetest look he could muster, and begged to go
to the store to pick up some milk. With a
knowing sigh, Mama Bear smiled and agreed. Papa Bear, whose
bowl was already half empty, was feeling pretty thirsty himself,

(06:55):
so they decided to make it a family outing. They
would all go to the grocery store to pick up
some milk. Baby Bear got dressed as fast as possible.
He grabbed his sneakers, tied them up tight, and off

(07:17):
they went. On the other side of town. Goldilocks was
up long before any of the bears. She never set
an alarm, preferring to let the early morning light slowly
awaken her from her slumber. She loved the morning and

(07:43):
the way the first rays of sunlight felt when they
cascaded down onto her bed. On this particular morning, she
laid in her bed a little while longer than usual,
just relaxing and enjoying herself. She stretched her arms up

(08:07):
over her head and let out a large yawn. Then
she took a few deep breaths, feeling her blanket rise
and fall with the motion of her chest. After a while,

(08:28):
she was ready to get up and start her day.
She rolled out of bed and got dressed in her
favorite workout clothes. It was time for her daily jog.
She braided her long blonde hair and put on a

(08:49):
headband to keep any loose wisps out of her face.
As she left the house, she was amazed by the
beauty of the day. The wind blew softly and birds
chirped as she jogged past them. She noticed storm clouds

(09:14):
in the distance, but she wasn't worried about them. She
just focused on her run and the peace that she
felt as her feet thumped rhythmically on the trail. She
liked to take the paths through the woods. Miles and

(09:36):
miles of lush woodland provided the perfect backdrop for daydreaming,
which she tended to do when she ran. She often
found that several miles could go by without her having noticed.
She ran and ran for quite some time, not hearing

(10:00):
the rolling thunder getting closer and closer. Suddenly, a clap
of thunder sent a flock of birds fluttering out of
the nearby tree, beating their wings in a flurry of excitement.

(10:22):
It drew her out of her reverie. Looking around, she
realized she was further from her house than she'd ever
run before. Goldilocks noticed that the temperature had dropped significantly
since she began her run. She felt the hair on

(10:45):
her arms and neck rais as goosebumps appeared. She looked
behind her and saw the storm clouds. The large churning
gray mass that had been off near the horizon was
now almost right overhead. She heard a second clap of

(11:08):
thunder and took off, running much faster than before. The
storm was even faster still, and it caught up to her, quickly,
drenching her with the cold rain. She kept running, looking

(11:30):
this way and that for shelter. Her long hair whipped
around in the wind, her braid coming undone. The thunder
grew louder, and a flash of lightning lit up the
sky above her. Then a little ways ahead off the trail,

(11:57):
she saw a house. It was made of wood with
delicate checkered curtains in the windows. The thunder cracked above her,
making the warm and cozy home look even more inviting.

(12:18):
Goldilocks ran up to the door and knocked loudly. There
was no response. She knocked again, this time calling out.
No one answered. She raised her hand to knock a

(12:39):
third time when the door swung open slightly on its own.
She knew she shouldn't enter a house that wasn't hers,
but a chance for warmth and safety from the storm
was too alluring. She entered slowly and called out once again,

(13:04):
asking if anyone was home, but there was no response. Tentatively,
Goldilocks ventured further into the house. She took off her
wet jacket and hung it on a peg by the

(13:24):
front door. Something in the kitchen smelled delightfully sweet, and
she couldn't help herself. She just had to go see
what the owners of the house had been cooking. On
the table were three bowls of porridge, one big, one medium,

(13:50):
and one small. Goldilocks hesitated for a moment, hoping whoever
had left them here wouldn't mind too much. It just
smelled so good, and her run had been so long.
She felt her stomach growling at the sight of them,

(14:17):
Goldilocks walked over and sat at the first chair with
the biggest bowl. She scooted her chair close to the
table and took a big, deep breath, in letting the
aroma of the porridge fill her senses. She shut her

(14:41):
eyes for a moment and relaxed, thankful to have shelter
from the rain. Finally, she scooped some of the porridge
up with a spoon and took a bite. But it
was as good as she had hoped. It was way

(15:03):
too cold. It must have been sitting out for quite
some time. It was no matter, though, as there were
two more bowls. She moved on to the medium bowl,
sitting beside it. She wasn't worried about this one being

(15:25):
too cold, as she could see billows of steam rising
from it. She took a big keeping scoop and put
it into her mouth, but it was too hot. With
a sigh, she moved on to the smallest bowl and

(15:48):
took a little bite. As she'd hoped, this one was
sweet and warm and almost perfect. She took one bite,
then another, and before she knew it, she had finished

(16:09):
the whole bowl With her spoon. She scraped the bottom
of the bowl, making sure to savor every last bit.
Feeling full and content, she got up from the table

(16:30):
and moved to the living room in search of somewhere
more comfortable to sit. She saw three chairs arranged in
a semicircle around a small television. There was a bookshelf
in the corner of the room and big windows looking

(16:52):
out into the forest. Through them, she could see the
ferocious wind whipping the leaves from the trees and the
rein still pouring down outside. Goldilocks picked a book off
the shelf and sat down in the first chair. It

(17:17):
was deep red with large arm rests. She moved around
trying to get comfortable, and stretched her right arm across
her body and then her left. She moved her neck
from side to side and re situated herself, but no

(17:40):
matter how much she adjusted, she could not find a
good spot. The chair was too hard. She moved on
to the next one, which was a beautiful blue It
looked cozy and inviting. When Goldilock sat down, she sank

(18:06):
into the cushions. It was warm, just as she suspected.
She stretched her feet out and pulled her arms over
her head, sinking further and further into the chair. With

(18:27):
each little motion, it was as though she were being
pulled into the chair by a soft blue whirlpool. This
was not comfortable. It was just too soft, So she
decided to try the last chair. The third chair was

(18:54):
smaller than the other two and was covered in a
nice blue and green checkered pattern. As Goldilocks sat down
upon it, she finally felt relaxed, perhaps more relaxed than
she'd ever been before. This chair was almost perfect. Goldilocks

(19:22):
nestled into the seat and opened the book. She turned
the pages one by one, quickly losing track of time.
She was completely engrossed in the novel. Periodically, she glanced

(19:43):
out the window to watch the storm and listened to
the nice, calming rhythm of the raindrops splashing against the glass.
The long, low rumble of the thunder sat in the distance.

(20:05):
As she sat, she felt her breathing begin to slow
the more she relaxed. She brushed her golden hair off
her face and moved her head side to side until
she found the perfect position to rest her neck. As

(20:29):
the pages of the book turned, they made a gentle
fluttering sound, and her eyes moved across the page with ease.
Eventually she finished the book, not knowing how many hours
she'd spent reading. As she closed the cover, she felt

(20:53):
her eyelids get heavy. She leaned her head against the
soft back of the chair, and before long she had
fallen asleep. She rested peacefully in the little chair for

(21:13):
a while before the sound of the storm woke her up.
The wind was still howling and the thunder showed no
signs of stopping. The raindrops pattered heavily against the window
and streamed down the glass, forming long, thin frivulets. Goldilocks

(21:43):
was growing more and more aware of the passing time.
She wondered where the family who lived here had gone.
She knew she should be heading home, but with the
storm raging as it was, she wasn't keen on leaving
the warmth of the little house in exchange for the

(22:06):
long journey back. Besides, she really was feeling quite tired.
Perhaps she could rest just a little while longer before
making her way through the forest back home. Goldilocks stood

(22:29):
up from the comfy chair and set the book back
on the shelf. Her footsteps echoed quietly as she wandered
into the kitchen. Sitting on the counter was a stray
pad of paper. Goldilocks opened up a few drawers until

(22:52):
she found a pen. She wrote a short note explaining
the situation, how she needed shelter from the storm, and
how the door was left open. She apologized for eating
the porridge and complimented the chef. This way the owners

(23:18):
would not be too surprised when they finally got home.
After writing the note, she found her curiosity was getting
the better of her. She really wanted to know more
about who the people were who lived here. Goldilocks put

(23:42):
the pen back in the drawer and headed upstairs to
explore the house some more. The storm was beginning to
let up slightly, but the rain still beat down outside.
It was starting to get dark, and she longed to

(24:05):
go home and to go to bed, but thought it
would be best to wait a little while longer. At
the top of the stairs, there was a short hallway
that led to three bedrooms and a bathroom. She walked

(24:28):
slowly to the first door. It led to a cozy room.
The walls were painted a nice shade of blue, which
reminded Goldilocks of a spring sky. There were two beds
in the center of the room. The first was covered

(24:55):
with a deep red comforter and a single pillow. She
wanted to test it to see if it was as
comfortable as it looked with a glance down the stairs.
She walked over to the bed and sat down. She

(25:18):
tried to bounce on it a little bit, but it
was quite firm. She leaned back and found the sheets
were a bit rough too. Goldilocks lay there for a moment,
but quickly realized that this bed was not right for her.

(25:39):
It was far too hard. She rolled out of the
first bed and walked to the second. This one had
a bright blue comforter and lots of fluffy white pillows
which were arranged nicely against the headboard. Goldilocks pulled back

(26:06):
the covers to reveal light blue satin sheets that was
smooth to the touch. As she slid into the bed,
she felt herself sink into the mattress as though she
were being enveloped in a tight hug. It was nice

(26:30):
at first, but as soon as she tried to adjust
her body to find a more comfortable position, she felt
herself sinking even further into the bed. She quickly decided
that this bed was just too soft. It took her

(26:56):
a couple of tries to roll out of the second
bed and escaped the warm grasp of the covers. As
her feet hit the floor, she let out a sigh
of relief and felt her shoulders relax. She made up
both of the beds as best as she could and

(27:20):
shut the door quietly before moving to the next room.
This one was smaller than the last and had clearly
been set up for a child. There were a few
stuffed animals on the bed, some chapter books on the desk,

(27:44):
and glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. The
bed was situated in the center of the room. It
was lower to the ground than the others had been,
and had nice green and blue blankets. Goldilocks moved the

(28:04):
stuffed animals over to one side and climbed in. Just
a few moments after her head hit the pillow, she
felt herself drifting off. She tried to fight it, but

(28:24):
this bed was so warm and comfortable it was almost perfect.
With a smile playing at the corners of her mouth,
Goldilocks fell into a deep, peaceful sleep. In the meantime,

(28:51):
the rain had stopped and the bears were headed back home.
They had decided to spend the entire day at the
morn instead of driving through the rain. Baby Bear, who
could be very convincing when he wanted to be, had
talked his parents into taking him to see a movie.

(29:15):
They got some snacks at the food court to bring inside. Later,
they had dinner at a nice restaurant, even though it
wasn't the day the Bears had in mind when they
got up that morning, they all had a wonderful time.

(29:39):
As night fell, they climbed into their car, turned on
the windshield wipers, and made their way back to the house.
When they got home, they immediately noticed that something was different.

(30:00):
Baby Bear ran over to the kitchen table and inspected
the bowls of porridge. Mama and Papa Bear's porridge had
gone cold, but Baby Bears was all gone. Then he
went into the living room. The cushion of his chair

(30:22):
had a slight indentation, and there was a bookmark on
the arm rest. Someone had been sitting in his chair.
He ran to Mama Bear and tugged on her sleeve.
She was standing at the kitchen counter with a handwritten

(30:45):
note in her paw. It was from Goldilocks, explaining her ordeal.
Mama Bear smiled. She appreciated the com laments about her
cooking and was glad that the girl was safe, full,

(31:06):
and warm. She would much rather her stay at the
house and help herself than try to walk home in
the storm. Papa Bear fixed Baby Bear some hot chocolate
while Mama Bear headed upstairs. She noticed one of the

(31:28):
bedroom doors was open slightly. Quietly, she peeked into Baby
Bear's room. There was Goldilocks sleeping soundly with the covers
pulled up to her chin. Mama Bear smiled and tried

(31:53):
to close the door quietly, but Goldilocks began to stir.
She opened her eyes slowly and then noticed a very
large brown bear standing in the doorway. Goldilocks started to explain,

(32:15):
but before she could finish, Mama Bear reassured her that
everything was okay, and then asked her if she'd like
an evening snack. Mama Bear led her downstairs and introduced
Goldilocks to the rest of the family. Papa Bear poured

(32:40):
her some hot chocolate, and Baby Bear brought her a
plate of cookies. They sat together in the living room
and was soon talking like old friends. After a while,
it was time for Baby Bear to go to bed.

(33:05):
He wanted to stay up later, but before he could
even say the words, he let out a big yawn.
Everyone agreed it had been a long day and they
were all tired. Goldilocks wished baby Bear good night, and

(33:28):
Mama and Papa Bear tucked him into his own bed.
Before long, he was sound asleep. Goldilocks stood up and
wandered over to the front door. She was just about

(33:51):
to pull her jacket off the peg when Mama Bear
came back down the stairs. It was too late to
go home, and it was still drizzling outside, so the
Bears had decided she simply must sleep in the guest

(34:12):
bedroom that night. Mama Bear led Goldilocks up the stairs
and into the third room down the hall. This room
was light green and had a big bed with green
blankets and fluffy white pillows. Mama Bear tucked her in

(34:39):
tightly and wished her good night. This bed wasn't too hard,
and it wasn't too soft. It was even better than
almost perfect. This bed was just right, and within moments

(35:07):
Goldilocks was fast asleep.
