Unknown (00:00):
So I said, maybe our Jewish brothers and sisters had
it right. They thought so muchof God, that they didn't even
pronounce his name. That there'sa level of holiness or reverence

(00:21):
that exists within the Jewishfaith.
They don't even pronounce God'sname. It's represented by a few
letters and you, when you see itwritten, the vowels don't even
exist. They're so that you can'tpronounce it. Not as it's

(00:42):
written. And we've become socommon with God that we'll use
His name in vain. God has becomeso common, so almost
insignificant to us. That thereis no reverence for worshiping

(01:07):
God. There's, there's verylittle reverence for a place for
God, there's there's no holinessabout it. It's almost scary.
Because if, if there's noreverence for God, then there's
no reverence for anything. Andmaybe, maybe that's how we ended

(01:32):
up where we are. As a people, right as a culture. We have no
respect, or reverence foranything. Not people. Fence. Not
God, not personal space. There'sno reverence everything is a

(01:55):
game. Everything is common.
There's there's no space for theawe of God anymore. Where we're
so close that we feel likethat's just like a homeboy.
Right? Like, Jesus is myhomeboy. And okay, you know what

(02:17):
I'm saying? Like, he sent Jesusso that we may know, God, I get
that right. But can we have someawe? Can we be awe struck by
God? Is there is there wonderanymore Can I be in such awe of

(02:37):
God that that it brings me totears that a God of the universe
would care so much about mewhen he would send His Son to
die then he cares so much aboutme that he makes sure that I can

(02:58):
breathe that'd be traps theright amount of air on a planet
makes sure that I can breathe, Iwas
getting ready to go to dinnerwith my, with my sister and my,

(03:20):
my grandmother and my mom. Alladopted. My adopted mom, my
adopted sister, my adoptedgrandmother is beside the point.
And they live in a building.
Right? They live in this likeapartment building. And it's one
of the taller apartmentbuildings that I've ever been to

(03:41):
and I remember walking up on itand being a bit dizzy when I
tried to look up at it becauseit was so tall like it's it's
almost a makes you remember howsmall you are in front of it.
And I couldn't remember the lasttime that I thought about God

(04:08):
that way. The looking up at thevastness of God stumbled me,
made me a bit dizzy and in awereminding myself of how small I
am not necessarilyinsignificant, but just small.

(04:32):
We live in a time where we cancontrol everything, right or we
feel like we can and so we're inawe of nothing because nothing
surprises us anymore. When's thelast time you felt something
different? There's a couple ofweeks ago for me that the But

(04:55):
the feeling that I had wasunfamiliar to me. And that was
the first time that that feelthat a feeling happened where I
didn't know how it would make mefeel. And it was like, Oh, I was
I was kind of shocked that like,I had this feeling, right, I
think you'll get to a place inyour life where like, you felt

(05:17):
so many things that you're notsurprised by feeling anymore. I
know that it's very meta, right.
But follow me for a second, sometimes we have, we have felt
so many things, we have felt somany different forms of
heartbreak, so many differentforms of grief, so many
different forms of happiness.
We've been surprised, we've feltjoy. And so we, we can

(05:41):
anticipate how we will feelabout a thing, just based on the
information that we have infront of us. And so you remember
how you felt with God, so youdon't feel that way anymore.
It's the equivalent of like, seeing something that's funny,
and not laughing and justsaying, that's funny. You

(06:03):
recognize that as an emotion, but you didn't experience the
emotion. You didn't take the joythat was there. You just
recognized it as a thing. Or thelast time you were in front of
something that brought a smileto your face. And you said, that

(06:25):
makes me happy. Instead offeeling the happiness. So you've
been in relationship with God,when's the last time you felt
him? Instead of recognizing thatthe thing that is you are doing
in prayer, right? Because thishappens to me in prayer, this is

(06:47):
this may not be you, but this isa thing that I've realized and
about myself and I'm sharing itwith you. Right? Sometimes when
I'm in prayer, I'm notexperiencing the awe that I am
talking to the creator of theuniverse. I'm just talking
because it's common, and it'ssomething that I do. And so I
recognize that there should bean emotion there and I could

(07:11):
call that emotion out in prayer, but I'm not feeling it. It's
like knowing God but not feelingGod. Like I hear God talking to
me. Or guiding me but I'm notfeeling God next to me. And I'm

(07:31):
not in awe of it anymore. It'sbecome part of who I am it's a
scary thing bro. And maybe maybethat's why our Jewish brothers
and sisters never spoke his nameso that there could still be

(07:54):
some awe maybe that's why whenthey wrote it they were careful
to leave out the vowel so thatthey didn't mistakenly mention
the name of a God who was soholy they they set up warships
and I'm not suggesting that likeyou know we need to worship like

(08:18):
our Jewish brothers and sistersbut we need not forget why they
did it. You can be a ChristianRight? And be able to approach
the father in a way that ourJewish brothers and sisters
don't think that we shouldprobably should because of Jesus
Christ, and still be in awe AllI'm saying is laugh instead of

(08:46):
saying that things are funny.
